As soon as they entered the living room, Anna sat Juvia down on the sofa and gleefully when down the hall where the linen closet stood at the end. She carefully traced her fingers over the white oak material of the door, then gave it a few knocks. Next the floor shook and a clap of thunder could be heard inside the house, the door opened and two teenage girls entered the hall.

"Lucy! Erza! My darling little girls!" Anna happily wrapped her arms tight around them. "You can't imagine how much I have missed you both."

"We've missed you too Nanny." Erza said. "We're so sorry that we didn't vist more often."

"Oh no need to apolgize, I know how it is in the Other Realm. I'm just glad you're here now and that I get to see you both everyday for a year. Now let me look at you all, see how much you've grown...Oh you're both just gorgeous."

"Thank you Nanny." Lucy said.

"Now come along with me into the next room, there is someone I have been anxious for you two to meet for years."

They follow her down the hall and into the living room where Juvia sat. When she first saw them she was taken aback by how beautiful they were. Erza reminded her of an actress who had been casted in many lead roles because of her stunning looks and expressive face, while Lucy made her think of every model she had ever seen in a magazine, the ones with the perfect body and face. However Lucy also looked a great deal like Anna, if the two were the same age they could have been mistaken for twin sisters, and Anna had a reputation of being one of the most lovely women in the world. In her youth she flirited quite a lot and had over twenty boyfriends.

"Men are unavoidable for us Dear." She recalled Anna saying to her once. "Every woman in my family and in your mother's family is blessed with an extraordinary beauty, one that male of the speices just can't resist. Enjoy the attention they give you but only give yourself to the one you love. I may have kissed many boys, but my husband was the only man I ever went to bed with."

Juvia believed everything she had said except about the part where she said every woman in her family and in her mother's family had an extraoridnary beauty. Because Juvia was sure that the beauty gene had skipped her.

"Juvia I'd like you to meet your cousins Erza and Lucy." Anna introduced. "Erza, Lucy, this is Juvia."

Juvia's eyes were the very first thing the two full-fledged witches noticed about her. Her eyes were tender, honest, and innocent. Blue as a sunlit sea, they could pull at your heart strings and make you confess any sin or secret. Both girls knew instantly that a man would drown in those eyes someday.

"It's nice to finally meet you Juvia." Erza greeted with a smile. "We look forward to living and learning with you."

"Likewise." Juvia said.

"So where should we put our bags?" Lucy asked Anna.

"We'll discuss that later. For now let's all go into the kitchen for a brownie while I explain the rules and regulations around here."

"A brownie?" Lucy chuckled. "So you're still trying to fatten everyone up with sweets huh? Somethings never change."

In the kitchen, each girl was served a hot, fudge, brownie with a side of vanilla ice cream while Anna spoke to them about her terms.

"Now I love all three of you very much and I am guilty of spoiling you each, however things are going to be a little different during your stay with me. There are some rules that I expect you to follow. Rule number one, no magic in front of mortals. Rule number two, no using magic to do anyone harm. Rule number three, I expect you all to take your magic lessons seriously and to complete all your work. Rule number four, your curfew is nine o'clock, any later and I take away your brooms."

"Brooms?" Juvia said.

"And rule number five, do not ever touch my spellbook."

"What spellbook?" Juvia asked.

"The Family Spellbook." Erza said. "The one that has every spell in the world written inside and it's always given to the head of the family."

"It's also full of spells that use light and dark magic." Anna said strictly. "It's dangerous in the hands of a young and inexperienced witch. So I better not catch either one of you trying to use that book or you will be more sorry than you've ever been in your entire life. Is that clear?"

"Crystal." All three of them said.

"Good." Her tone back chipper again. "Now let's discuss how your education will go."

"What do you mean?" Lucy asked. "You're just going to homeschool us right?"

"Not quite. I will be your teacher in all things magic, but Porlyusica wants you and Erza to learn humility and limitations, and I believe the best way to teach you both that is to have you attend a mortal school."

"What?!" All three girls cried.

"Nanny why would we need a mortal education?" Erza asked.

"It's a waste of time, mortal knowledge is of no use to us." Lucy said.

"Not to mention they'll probably draw a lot of attention from people." Juvia said.

"All knowledge is valuable, whether it's knowledge from magic or from mortals, and even though we're witches, our magic can't do everything." Anna said.

"It can't?" Lucy said.

"Lucy do you know how the earth works? Do you know the process in which plants grow or the way an animal adapts?"

"No."

"And your powers can't help you with that, can they?"

"Mine can." Erza said.

"Yes but they can't help you learn when a star is born and when a star dies. They can't help you learn about other planets or the phases of the moon. But in a mortal school you can learn these things. You can learn about this incredible ability called science that the mortals use in place of magic. You can also learn about mortal history which will make you more understanding and empathetic to them."

"Time out, why can only one of them use magic for plants and the other can't?" Juvia asked. "Can't all witches use magic?"

"Of course but not all them can use the same type of magic." Anna said. "To further explain, Erza's magic associated with nature and the earth. That means for the most part, she can only cast spells that are in those two subjects. I will be teaching her how to keep the natural world safe and in balance with mortals, magic-users, and monsters. Lucy's magic is associated with astronomy and astrology so I'll be teaching her how to help people with their fortunes, how to establish peaceful relations with the astral and celestial spirits, and how to prevent fate from being tampered with."

"Alright, so what do I do?"

"Your magic is associated with the heart and the soul. Emotions and love to be exact. I'll be teaching you how to help people express their feelings in a healthy manner, help them recover from pain and other negative emotions, and help them find true love."

Juvia chuckled a little.

"Okay that's funny."

"What is dear?"

"Me helping people find true love. I can't do that. I can't even find true love for myself, let alone for anyone else. Also I don't think it's right using a spell or a potion to make someone fall in love."

(Ignore the irony of that statement)

"Juvia you wouldn't be using a spell or a potion to make anyone fall in love." Erza explained. "No witch can, it's impossible."

"It is?"

"Yep." Lucy confirmed. "There's no spell or potion strong enough to move one's heart. Love is just too powerful to be tampered with."

"But there spells and potions that can help a person find their true love or find out if a person's love is real." Anna said. "In fact Juvia, the first spell you ever cast was a true love spell."

"It was?" Juvia said confused. "When was this?"

"It was Valentine's Day and you were six years old, you had asked why you didn't have a true love if it was supposed to be a romantic holiday. So I told you it was because you were too young and because you hadn't found your true love yet. Next you asked me how you would find him and I told you that there was no specific way, that it just happens. But I did suggest that you cast the spell Amas Veritas for luck."

"Hey I remember that spell." Erza said. "I cast it on Valentines Day too."

"Me too." Lucy said.

"I'm not surprised, Valentines Day is the only day in the year where all witches can use spells relating to love." Anna said.

"And you suggested the spell to us too." Erza said. "Why?"

"Well I figured that you two were most likely going to end up in an arranged marriage like your mothers did and I just wanted to make sure that in any case, it would be a marriage of love. Amas Veritas ensures that you and your one true love find each other when the time is right. Layla used Amas Veritas and that's how she and Jude ended up happily married despite it being an arrangement."

"So how do you know when you've met him?" Lucy asked.

"Unfortunately it's not always obvious but if you remember correctly, Amas Veritas requires you to add certain features and traits to give you a clue. For example, when Ondina cast it, she said that her true love would be able to create wonders without using magic. Derek could create wonderful things with gears and wood, but no magic."

"What features and traits did we say?"

"I don't know. You never told me. You don't remember?"

"We were very little at the time Nanny." Erza said. "You really think that we'd remember little details like that?"

"No, that's why I suggested you write them down. Did you do that?"

"I don't know. I think I did."

"I can't remember if I did or not." Lucy said. "Did you write it down Juvia?"

"I don't even remember casting the spell." Juvia said.

"Then it looks like you'll have to rely on your feelings." Anna said. "But worry not, you'll find out who he is sooner or later. I just hope it doesn't take any of you as long as it did for me to figure out. Your great-grandfather and I met first met at the academy and it took me ten years to realize that he was my true love."

"Ten years?" Lucy said.

"Well I was an honor student and he was the class clown, I thought we were too different." Anna then smiled in a romantic way. "Oh but in the end, no one was more perfect for me than Kai Abadeer. He wasn't the most witty or talented warlock but he was funny, sincere, humble, kind, and I loved him so much."

Juvia smiled tenderly at Anna, a sense of warmth in arose in her heart, almost as if she could feel the deep love Anna felt for her late husband. Or perhaps she did feel it.

"I just know someday all three of you will have what I had with your great-grandfather." Anna stated as a matter of fact. "But that will come in time, for now you must focus on school and magic. Your first lesson starts tomorrow but for tonight."

Anna snapped her fingers and three broomsticks magically appeared.

"Who wants to go for a flight around town?"

Lucy and Erza grabbed their brooms and headed toward the roof with extreme excitement.

"So we're actually going to fly on broomsticks?" Juvia asked in nervous disbelief.

"Yes sweetheart. That's one of the very few stereotypes that the mortals got right."

"Um...If it's okay with you, I'll just set this one out."

"Nonsense. A witch who doesn't fly is like a penguin who doesn't slide."

"But Nanny Anna I've never flown on a broom. I've never flown period. I don't know how."

"That's why you have me, my darling girl. Consider this your official first lesson in magic."

"Oh dear." Juvia gulped before Anna proceeded to lead her in the same direction her cousins went.
