After the day is finished. Wally exits the school, wanting to get home, play some video games, maybe read news articles of superheroines fighting crime.
For some reason, his life was boring. Too boring. No excitement, or thrill he can enjoy. If he were a crime-fighting vigilante, then it would've been less-boring.
He heard a honk from a green convertible. It was his aunt, red hair and green eyes. Just like his father's side of the family. Wondering why his parents weren't picking him up as usual. But he got inside the passenger front seat of the car anyway.
"Sorry about this, Wally. Your parents are heading to some military semi-formal reunion." His aunt, Iris West said to her. Driving the wheel while waiting for a traffic light to lit green.
"Tell me about it." Wally sighs.
"By the way, my boss is actually having an internship program for high school students in your classes. I think you should apply." Iris offered.
"And brag about the fact that my aunt is a reporter? No thanks." Said Wally.
"Well, it's not like anyone has to know. But I am pretty sure you would like to take that job to try out." Iris said.
"Any chance the crime department is available, would you mind to find a story to cover?" Wally gasped with excitement, he had always wanted to write a crime story where vigilantes appear from the shadows.
There were news articles he hears about vigilantes in New York, Star City and other cities.
"No, Wally. The crime department of those articles were too restrictive for teenagers. The only department my boss is only allowing were sports, music and fashion." Iris said.
"Aww." Wally groaned.
At Iris' house. Wally and his aunt entered. Only to find a blonde man around the reporter's age. And next to him was Neptune sitting on a dinner table. Much to Wally's dismay. The table filled with materials of forensics.
"Iris, how is work going?" The blonde man wraps his arms around her and kissed her cheek. Making Wally and Neptune cringe.
"Uh, Aunt Iris?" Asked Wally. Iris and the unknown man turned to Wally, and realized they just made things awkward. "Oh, sorry, Wally. I forgot to tell you. This is my boyfriend, Barry Allen." She introduced her nephew to her boyfriend.
"Barry, this is my nephew, Wally. He is staying over for a week since my brother is off for meeting one of his comrades." Iris said. Wally and Barry shook hands.
"Hey, there...Barry." Wally greeted.
"Nice to meet you, Wally." Wally then eyed on Neptune in disgust and disdain. Thinking he was just a show-off trying to one-up anyone. Wally is an ace-student in chemistry. But that was all there is to it.
"And what is that guy doing here?" Asked Wally.
"Dude, rude." Neptune as he tipped his reading glasses.
"He's just applying for an internship for the forensics department for the CCPD." Said Barry. "So I was giving him the study guide before the day tomorrow. And my guess is that you two already met."
"You sure your boss allows teenagers for a job they're not old enough to do?" Iris asked.
"Well, times have changed. They're now including high school students to start early for the future." Barry explains. "Besides, I am pretty sure the CCPD was taking safety measures in regards to the students."
Neptune then reached his hand out for a handshake. "I don't think we had properly met. But I'm Neptune by the way. We were in the same criminology class." Wally begrudgingly shook his hand.
"Yeah, yeah. Your mom's a lawyer. No need to rub it in." Wally scoffed. Neptune raised an eyebrow. "Dude, I didn't say..."
"Alright, you two, no fighting." Iris told them.
"Say, Barry. You said the CCPD were holding out an internship, is that right?" Asked Wally. Interested in taking a course of criminology that would put his chemistry skills to good use. As Barry and Iris are having dinner to discuss for job references.
"Sure, kid. There might be one more spot if you're..." Barry was interrupted when Wally cuts him off. "I'll take it." This surprised Iris as she kinda expected to spend some time with her nephew since she didn't have any kids yet as she and Barry just started dating. They were keeping things steady for now.
"Wally, are you sure?" Iris asked in concern for her nephew's interest. Considering the risk of the investigations. "This might be risky. I mean, lots of criminals, a load of violence, death?"
"I know, Aunt Iris. But hear me out. I think this might be a great opportunity to test my chemistry skills." Neptune remained silent while taking a bite of a fried broccoli. Listening to a would-be rival being desperate to impress.
"Look, Iris. Maybe it would be best that he can try it out. Don't worry, it will only take place in the lab inside the department." Barry assured his reporter girlfriend. Iris took a bit of thought, she had been babysitting him since he was a child. And she felt more parental towards him. She cared about his safety since he took in interest of crime investigations and chemistry. But knew he has to try something.
"Okay, Barry. But just make sure he is careful." Iris sighs. Wally pumps his fist in joy. "Yes!" Neptune then receives a call from his mother, and picks it up. "Yeah, Mom?" He replied to the call as he listens and held his phone up his ear. "What? Is Dad okay? Alright. I'll see you there." He hangs up, and turned to Barry.
"Sorry, Mr. Allen. It's my mom, I have to get to a hospital. My dad got into an accident at a construction site he was working at. And if I were to guess, Mom had probably gone ballistic and felt like she wanted to sue them for negligence. Gotta go calm her down and keep her company."
"You need me to drive you to the hospital? It might be a long walk there." Offered Barry.
"No, it's fine. I have a friend offering me a ride already." Neptune politely declined. To Wally, something felt off about his classmate. For some reason, he did not seem familiar to anyone. But rather he is not who he seems to be. Second, Wally did not feel like he belong to where he is now. Questions can be answered later on.
Since the internship starts the next day, he might find something interesting. But to do so, he would have to cooperate with Barry and Neptune until he can find what was up with the world that is today. "Well that went well."
"There might have been seismic activity going on Iris, but there were no Earthquakes, nor storms, that's the fourth time this week." Wally's eyes blinked as he turned to his aunt and Barry.
"I checked the radar, but it didn't make any sense. There were red and blue signals indicating the storms are coming. But nothing." Iris said.
"Even much scarier. Kids disappearing out of thin air. I know this is real life. But this is more of a horror movie that might be hard to believe." Said Barry. Wally raised an eyebrow as he checked on his computer, but not before his aunt called.
"Wally! Do you want to head to the movies with me and Barry?!" Asked Iris as Wally was about to head upstairs in the guest room.
"Oh, no. I'm good, Aunt Iris! You and Barry have fun! I got some homework to take care of!" Wally excused himself when he called back. "Nice to meet ya, Barry!" He said as he went to his desk. By the time he logged into his computer, he searched every news report of the meteorologists' miscalculations of the weather prediction. They were right. But what is happening in this world? He doesn't believe in magic, but could it be that the multiverse is mixing up things?
The next day, Wally received a text from Lisa Snart, a girl he had been going out with. She is athletic in figure skating. But to his dismay, it brought him nothing but an empty vessel with a text.
Lisa: I'm sorry, but I can't be with you anymore. It's not you, it's me. Goodbye.
It was the most saddest breakup. After Lisa moved to National City for a scholarship in her sports career. He simply sighs, trying to mask his emotions. Where did he go wrong? Or is it because of their different set of goals? Does he even have goals?
And to his own jealousy, Wally notices Neptune already at the CCPD Police Station. But the blue-haired teen was talking to a girl with white hair, ice-blue eyes and what appears to be a Gotham Academy School Uniform. This raises suspicion when Wally sees this. And next thing he saw was when the girl began to cry, and Neptune comforts her in his arms.
Wally thought Neptune was a perfect lawyer's golden son that he'd get any girl. But for some reason, Neptune only has eyes on the girl he was talking to. Maybe Wally was just upset that Lisa broke up with him for no reason.
Wally came closer to meet with Neptune on the first day of the internship. "Dude, never thought you'd be early."
"Hey, Wally. What's up?" Asked Neptune, then he turned to the girl as he genuinely stroke her cheek. To which the girl placed her hand onto his. "I'll see you later, Weiss." Said Neptune.
"Right, meet me at 7pm." Said Weiss. Then left the scene as she walked towards the approaching Limousine. Wally then coughed to get Neptune's attention. Wally stared at him to see what he sees in her. Neptune raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Dude, what's the deal with that girl? She's hot." Wally smirked. Making Neptune gasped with a hint of shock. "Dude!" Neptune growled. Wally seemed to enjoy getting a reaction from him.
"Man, bro. Judging by that limousine and that school uniform belonging to Gotham Academy. She's way out of your league." Wally teased.
"Ugh, you reminded me of Sun." Neptune said the name that sparks memories he had forgotten.
"I don't believe we have met, Snow Angel."
"Define "friend" at a time like this."
"Yeah, I like her. But..."
"Check out Merlot's network here."
Neptune gasped as the memories came back to him. The last one was a menacing mad scientist trying to fight against, only to be zapped into a world where huntsmen and huntresses never existed.
"Whoa, Dude. You alright?" Wally asked in concern for his "rival." Neptune sighs as he turns to Wally. "Dude, I don't know why, but we're not in Remnant anymore."
"What?" Wally questioned, confused for what Neptune was saying.
The blonde boy running amok in the circus earlier was hiding behind the alley in Gotham City. He was jumping from one train cart after another. "Stop that stowaway!" One staff member yelled out.
Dick and Zatanna have chase as they ran after the stowaway boy. And he has something in his hand. A purple mineral that was glowing. "Hey, look what he has in his hand!" Dick points out. Zatanna sees it and was shocked. "I see it, this might have something to do with this!"
"You don't think he stole this thing, and that's why the world isn't the way it was, right?" Dick asked. "Not sure, but that's what we have to ask him!"
Dick wasted no time to take action to go after the "thief." He used his acrobat skills to jump on each of the crates to climb onto the carts. Then lands in front of the blonde boy. "Hey, buddy. I think you have something that doesn't belong to you." Dick said.
"No way, Dude, you don't understand!" Said the boy. "I took it because I have to..." The blonde mischief was interrupted when Dick dashed towards him and swiftly dodges. He performed a round punch when the mysterious boy parried his fist and then lifts his feet for a high kick.
But Dick, or rather Robin, bent back and makes a swells kick. "You don't understand! I need to get away from here!" He shifted from Dick's jab and backflipped.
"Ekam msirp ot pots mih!" Zatanna performed a spell to create crystalized prisms underneath them. The teen boy caught wind of it and cartwheeled from the trail of prisms attempting to catch him under his feet.
Dick then leaps in high air and was about to make a kick on him, that is when the blonde boy felt a strange power in his body, he felt the universe empowering him. As if he was unlocking an ability.
He created a sun-bright duplicate of himself and it smacks Dick away to back on the spot he was before. "What the-?" Dick stopped as he saw the boy, and to his shock, the guy he and Zatanna were chasing has a tail. A monkey tail. "You have a tail?!" Dick gawked.
"He has powers too." Zatanna blinked. "But unlike any other. His aura was faint, but it's also growing." She felt an energy on the monkey-tailed boy. For some reason, the aura she sensed on him was dormant.
"Who...are you?!" Dick shook his head, wondering if he was just imagining things.
"Uh, yeah. Nice meeting you bro. It's Sun by the way." Then Dick sees a pole nearby and grabs it. Then twirls it as he threw it at Sun. But Sun blocks it, but Dick dashed forward and performs combat at him. But Sun counters them as Dick kicked his right hand upward, causing his grip on the small mineral to be released from his grasp.
Sun jumps to get it. But Dick also leaps and stepping over his head and catches it. Sun tries to retrieve it, only to be stopped when his feet were crystalized. "Aw, what?!"
"Enough, you two! Neither of us don't know how we ended where we're at now! But maybe we should tell each other's side of the story before..."
Suddenly, the train is starting to move as they stumbled a little as the carts moved. "Hey, who's driving this thing?!" Sun complained. Because of the sudden movements, Dick drops the mineral and it fell to the ground. "No!" But after it hit the ground, a girl with green hair and red eyes came closer to it and takes the crystal.
The girl looks at the three heroes and waved gleefully at them. "Sayonara." She said, taunting and left running. They were all fumed that they lost the object. Zatanna already released Sun from the prism freezing his feet. And they all got inside the cart. Dick took one last look at his parents, who tried to go after him when the train was about to take off.
He wanted to say how sorry he was that he has to leave. But know he cannot turn back now. Now in this reality. "Goodbye." He muttered as he turned away and never looking back, but he will never forgive himself for this. As he went inside the cart. Zatanna and Sun were already waiting.
"Okay, pal. Mind telling us what is going on? Cause you're not the only one who is stuck in this mess." Dick assured him.
"Name's Sun Wukong. I'm a student from Mistral in Haven Academy." Sun replied. When Dick and Zatanna heard that name. This got them confused. That name, Sun Wukong, reminded them of a mythological figure from Journey to the West novel. If their friend, Donna Troy were here, she would've confirm him to be a descendant of the actual Monkey King from the myth.
"Sun Wukong? Okay, maybe later. But Mistral? Never heard of it. And neither is Haven Academy, cause it never exists in the articles." Dick said checking his cellphone. Searching through the internet, there was nothing. Mistral, and Haven Academy, none of these names have been shown in the articles.
"So none of those places existed, but you remember those from where? Are you from another Earth?" Asked Zatanna.
"Earth? Not from my world it is not. Where I'm from, it's a world called Remnant." Sun replied.
"Another universe then. Can you start from the beginning?" Asked Zatanna.
"Well, not sure if you guys will believe me or anything." Said Sun, but Dick cuts him off. "Dude, we fought supervillains, evil sorcerers and assassins all the time. Though it was mostly left to the bigger leagues." Assured Dick.
"Oh, thank goodness." Sun sighs. "Well, okay. Where to start? Well, in Remnant, I am one of the next generation of huntsmen and huntresses to hunt down monsters called the creatures of Grimm.
At Peguero Academy, Ruby and Jaune explain things to Kaldur and Donna about the world they were from after meeting on the rooftop. "In Remnant, huntsmen and huntresses do not just fight monsters, but we also fight bad guys and stuff." Ruby explained.
"One of those missions we have was when we were searching on the island of Dr. Merlot. A mad scientist trying to weaponize the Grimm."
"I felt like there was no point in denying this. But how come neither of us remember who we used to be and why come to us?" Kaldur asked. He was getting the feeling he doesn't know who he was anymore.
"Well, you guys seemed to be having signs of unfamiliarity around this world. But I think the theory we have now was that our universes combined." Said Ruby. Taking a bite of one of her cookies.
"By Aphrodite." Donna said, taken aback by the events she never thought would happened. "I know my parents weren't biologically related to me, but I never felt any connection...for some reason..."
Donna paused as she felt the exact headache.
"Well done, daughter."
"You have to see for yourself, sister. One day there will be a time for you to soar."
"Was I worth being a team player."
Donna felt the shock of those experiences of a previous reality. She had remembered of her life as a princess of the Amazons. But she is only human by blood.
"That's what happened. At first, neither of us remembered cause our reality was rewritten with another. In here, we are just regular school students." Jaune said.
"It wasn't until Ruby unlocked her semblance again. Was she able to remember again. One day when she and I went to the Museum in the city, my memories came back when I set sights on a sword that had been passed down to a family for generations."
"And then, once we reached Merlot's island. There was a bright light. Then I came across the gem that's been serving as some sort of catalyst of all of this. At first I woke up as a lone street fighter. While I was in a middle of a match and won this as a prize. But once I touched it, I remembered who I was before."
"So that gem is responsible for some reason." Zatanna deduced.
A punch was landed in the fighting club in China. Many watchers were gathered in a ruined arena of Hong Kong. A blonde girl with lilac eyes entered and takes a look at a photograph of a teenage boy, appearing 16, black hair and blue eyes. Wanted for being on a run.
The girl then sees the guy she's hunting down and being him to her contractors. Hoping to gain answers.
The boy was in the fighting ring after landing his fist on an opponents face. "The Winner! Conner Kent!" The referee grabs his fist and raised it in the air of the champion to announce the winner. "Any volunteers to beat this champ?! Come on, say it!"
"I'll go!" Said a voice. The blonde, lilac-eyed girl appeared. She wore a half-yellow and half-brown leather jacket and black pants under. She also wears golden-lensed sunglasses.
"Name, Miss?" The referee asked as the girl meets face-to-face with her opponent. "Yang Xiao Long." Then she gets into a stance as she glared at her opponent. Conner felt something was off, and will have to fight to get out of it. "Ready?!" The referee raises his hand, Conner clenched his fist to wait for the start of the match. "Fight!"
Author's note: Wally West meets Neptune Vasilias. In the combined world of Earth 16 and Remnant, the versions of Iris West and Barry Allen had started going out, recently and were introduced.
Ruby and Jaune explains to Kaldur and Donna about the events that took place before the world's have merged. While Sun explains to Dick and Zatanna about the events as well. This took place after the events of Grimm Eclipse.
Also inspired by the clip of Ryu vs Fei Long from Street Fighter 2 animated film, Yang Xiao Long faces off against Conner Kent, AKA Superboy.
