Why are there so few gods in OUAT? Why are all characters only tied to destiny? Why am I such a goober to never make adult characters, which work better in this more intense story?
I have been learning alot.
This is almost identical to my Armored Witch story, I loved the beginning and thought it worked well.
Cade- Age Seventeen, two years before Season Three B
Cade cringed as he pricked his finger, letting the blood drip, drip, drip onto the candle. "Accipe hoc munus, o mater magicae." He shivered as cold strength washed over him, ice in his veins. "Adiuva me, fili, pacem in virtute, per potentiam, per potentiam." He cried more, as something cold gripped his soul. "I need help, help me get the strength to flee, to hold magic in my soul, my heart. I need this. To be free of my Foster Family, to have the power to make my own destiny. If not, I fear I will never make it in this world. I found this spell, in pagan text book... I had to hide it,... please, help me help myself."
For a long moment, there was nothing and so he cried, head down and body wracking with sobs... but then a warm hand graced his face. Looking up, he saw a lady, stunning with green eyes and black hair, dressed like a goddess of old.
"Hello, dear child... I am the Mother of magic, you called?"
He nodded, tearful. "Please, I not even seveteen years old... I have been beaten, bruised and battered my whole life. No love... no care. I need the means to help myself, to serve myself so I can rise to my own peace. No one can just give peace, but I need it..."
She kneeled, the powerful lady, her body oozing might and magic that made the world warp around her. "You were not born to magic, nor were you born in a world filled with magic... but you crave it... magic can be learned. I will grant you this, the knowledge you crave, but you must learn to use it as you choose. My followers, those that walk my path, must do so on their own terms. Find your own way in this world and never let anyone take your path from you." From the folds of her dress, she pulled out a book, a thick tome. "This grimoire is but a taste of magic, an introductionary novel really. Learn from it, and become as great as you can be... but do not forget, the magic of this realm is weaker, fainter, tapping into it is no easy feat..."
He nodded, sobbing softly. "Are you real?"
"Only if you wish me to be... now go, find your peace."
And then she was gone, vanishing to leave him with a circle of salt, a candle and bleeding finger...
Shivering in the ice cold air, he stood. "I have been given a chance, I will never forget this... thank you, Hecate... thank you."
And he moved off, grabbing the bag of supplies he had already stolen over the last month. Success or failure, he was planning to run away, this only made him choose this path all the more. He knew what he was to do, nothing would stop him...
Not now, not ever...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write. Making a witch that was not following Hecate makes no sense. What was I thinking before?
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
