Chapter 5

Bruno and I walked in the dark for, who knows how long. But I knew we were getting close. Bruno's eyes were gettin brighter.

Bruno stayed close to me.

"I don't like this.." he whispered. I looked at him.

"A vision you had?" I asked.

"Yes and no." He said. His eyes glowed a radiant jade green. Suddenly I heard someone scream, throwing something across a room. I slowly peek around a corner. There was a giant crack at the end. I slowly walked up to the crack and peeked through. Mirabel breathed heavily as she picked up a boulder and threw it against a wall. Bruno stared at her in fear. I took a deep breath and started walking out. Bruno grabbed me by the arm and stopped me.

"What are you doing?!" He hissed.

"Saving Mirabel."

I walked through the crack. Suddenly, the air shifted. Wind blew from different directions. I shielded my face, keeping my eyes on Mirabel. She looked at me, an amused look on her face.

"Mirabel!" I yelled over the roar of the wind. "Mirabel, come back! Come back home!"

I shuddered in the cold. Where ever I was, it was dark and cold.

No daylight.

No warm.

No family.

I shuddered again.

"Enjoying yourself?" The sick voice chuckled through the darkness.

I said nothing. The voice only manipulated everything. I didn't need it making things worse.

My eyes filled with tears. I blinked them away and shut my eyes.

Everything the voice made me do..

"Mirabel!"

I opened my eyes.

That voice..

"Mirabel, come back! Come back home!"

The wind whirled around me, but my eyes stuck to Mirabel's faded green eyes. I could see a hint of somber, then it went straight back to hardened anger. I took a step closer. A storm raged inside the cave.

"Mirabel! Ignore it! Ignore the urge!"

"Mama, its too dangerous!" Bruno yelled. I ignored him and took another step toward Mirabel.

"Resist the urge! Resist!!"

Resist.

Resist?

How do I resist something like this?

I have no control anymore.

Do I?

I stood slowly in the dark. The cold left me like a blanket falling of my shoulders. The darkness shrank. Suddenly I could see a bit through the eyes.

My eyes.

The voice screamed in anger.

I could see Abuela walking toward me, fighting some sort of storm.

"Abuela?"

"Abuela?"

A single tear fell down my cheek. "Yes Mirabel, come back!" I smiled.

Mirabel's green eyes faded from the evil green to her natural brown eyes. It flickered over and over.

"That's it Mirabel, come home!"

"You will sit down and stay down." The voice screamed.

"No." I said, weakly.

"Now!"

"No!"

I walked a bit forward. I realized the dark shrank because of me. I looked down at myself. I was glowing.

Like the candle.

The dark shadowy voice screamed as it dispersed.

I smiled softly. My soul grew bright every step. I was returning.

I was resisting.

Mirabel spoke nonsense about staying down and fighting herself. Suddenly she yelled "No!"

She walked forward and fell to the ground. The storm disappeared. Bruno stared around the room.

"She did it." He said softly.

I ran up to Mirabel, lifting her head up. She breathed slow and heavy. Her eyes opened and looked at me.

Her brown eyes.

She smiled up at me.

"I'm back." She said softly, tears spilling down her cheeks. I chuckled and hugged her tight.

"Yes you are, Mija." I said, tears falling down my cheeks as well. "Yes you are."
