We start off at Hexide, where the very respectable and responsible Principal Bump is fully encouraging his students to play with knives. He tells Willow to cut up the totally not fake abomination in front of her, but Gus interrupts and gets banned from the story for the next four chapters.

Amity, annoyed that nobody has died yet, takes the knife from Willow and tries to stab the very cute abomination instead. But it turns out the abomination is an imposter who also so happens to be the main protagonist. Her knife isn't sharp enough to break past the imposter's plot-armor and Amity ends up stabbing herself instead.

A few hours later, Amity wakes up in front of mom who's wearing some sick new bling. She informs her daughter that she's dead which means that child labor laws no longer apply to her. She then holds a family meeting where she tells her two older children that she's spiritually chained their little sister's ghost to a necklace and that they would be forced to escort her to all of her future killing sprees. Apparently ghosts in the demon realm make great assassins and Amity's hereditary lust for blood makes her the perfect witch for the job.

The next night the twins take Amity to one of their mother's business rivals, but before Amity can kill him, she realizes she's not a complete and total monster like her mother is. Then we learn a cool fact: the wind in the demon realm is actually dead people forced to haunt the living forever. Wow!

Later that night, Amity informs her mother that she refused to commit murder and her mother responds by literally torturing her. Her mother then banishes her to purple hell for the night, telling her that being mistreated by your boss is just a part of the working experience.

We cut to Luz who's understandably traumatized by the horrible death she witnessed in the last week. The twins show up and ask her to take a break from her depression to talk about their killer new product: a limited-edition piece of jewelry that comes with the girl she just murdered for no additional cost.

The twins offer it for only three small payments of 59.99 in which Luz responds with, "how bout I pay you nothing and just take it?". Stunned by her amazing bartering skills, they give Luz the amulet for free.

A few days later, Amity's bitch switch breaks and she ends up accidentally crushing all of Luz's dreams. Then we learn another cool fact: Eda turns into a werewolf if she doesn't drink all of her night juice. Wow!

While trying to change Eda back to a witch, Amity does the impossible by giving Luz a compliment. Werewolf Eda is so shocked by this that King is able to shove a whole bottle of night juice down her throat without her even noticing. Then Amity does something even crazier: she apologizes for being such a bitch. This somehow gives Luz the ability to cast spells.

A few days after that, Willow and Gus decide they want some plot relevance, so they invite Luz to the covention. Luz asks her mentor to let her go, but she says no because they are literally criminals, and the police are going to be there. Since she didn't like Eda's answer, she tries to get Amity's permission instead.

"Ok" Amity says, totally forgetting that she's hiding from her evil mother. "As long as you don't run into any assholes".

So, they all go to the covention and Luz gravitates over to the first asshole she sees, a toh oc with an edgy backstory. He used to train with Amity when her bitch switch malfunctioned (apparently that's a common occurrence) and she partially blinded him. He then makes the horrible mistake of insulting Luz's boo, and she challenges him to a fist fight.

Luz is about to kick Katif's ass when she finds a receipt for steroids on his back. She wins by default which pisses off Eda's sister who's salty that her kid got caught cheating. While the Luz crew is celebrating, Emira calls and tells her sister that Katif is a snitch in need of stitches. Amity breaks into his house while he sleeps and tries to kill him, but then Amity remembers that she's against murder, so she just acts really spooky instead.

The next morning, Luz finds out that Willow is being cyberbullied by Boscha. Luz and co. decide that the best way to get back at her is to have a revenge slumber party. They arrive at the owl house and immediately pull out the Ouija board before summoning the one ghost Luz is supposed to keep secret from everyone. Luckily for Luz, Willow and Gus choose not to rat on their friend and get her dismembered by the Blight family.

They then command Amity to write out a Boscha call out post using fire from the depths of hell. She nearly finishes but then Willow stops her and demands a Blight family lore drop. Then we learn another cool fact: Odalia is an awful mother. Wow…we already knew that but wow!

Amity asks Willow what she thinks about that not so new information. "You still suck" Willow answers. "But you suck slightly less now". The ghost then gets a phone call from some other dead people saying that Eda blew everything she had on gambling and needs a ride back home. Willow, Gus, and Luz go pick Eda up, and Willow decides to beat up an annoying pig thing to show her dominance.

Seeing that her sister failed to teach him a lesson, Emira starts kicking the shit out of Katif in the marketplace. Edric stops her, telling her that it's not nice to beat someone in public. The twins, along with Luz and Amity, then break into the library to ask ghost alexa about the Amity problem. But first we learn yet another cool fact: Amity is hella gay for Luz. Wow!

Ghost alexa tells them that murder is the only option. When the kids ask her to elaborate, she simply flips them off and then disappears in a puff of black smoke. The twins and Lumity are then attacked by a monster who turns out to be a huge Amity stan. He asks the ghost for her autograph, but she is unable to give him one because nobody has a pen.

A week passes, and Luz, Amity, and Eda go to the coldest part of the isles to do some more magic stuff. Eda teaches her apprentice stuff for two seconds before everyone gets distracted by a frozen pond. Amity shows her crush some smooth moves and we learn yet another cool fact: Luz is hella gay for Amity, so much so that she gains even more magical ability.

Luz and Eda then get kidnapped by an abominable snowman, and Amity chases after them. She summons a phoenix that we'll probably never see again, before they all fly away like nothing ever happened.

Meanwhile at Blight Manor, Odalia is trying to find out which one of her children is the evil twin. She decides that it's Emira since she beat up that one asshole from earlier. She goes to poison her, but Edric finds out and secretly volunteers as tribute. Three days later, Edric dies and goes to confront his mom for what's definitely the final time. He tells her that she was wrong, and that he was the evil twin all along.

"Thanks for the confession" Odalia says as she turns him into the wind. She then decides it's Luz's turn to die and kidnaps her. When they get back to the manor, the human is able to escape just long enough for Alador to ignore her cries for help. She then asks Alador where his kids are. His curiosity peaked; he leaves to go find them.

Eda decides to get revenge on the Blight family and kidnaps Alador back. She tells him that his wife tortured his daughter without him ever noticing and that Edric's probably being tortured too. He decides to then go back to where he just was and confront Odalia. Emira goes with him because she wants to see the kick-ass fight that's about to happen.

So Odalia and Alador fight, but then Luz ruins everything by simply showing up. Edric takes that as an opportunity to snipe his mom with a tree branch before anyone else has a chance to kill her. And as Odalia slowly and horribly dies, the wind gives one final message before growing still.

"We were both evil twins".

Emira walks Luz back to the owl house and tells her little sister she can come home now, but Eda decides to make Amity her newest kid, so she has yet another child to boss around.

"That's chill" Emira says before going back to the manor to console her grieving father all by herself.

Luz and co. welcome Amity to their weirdo cult, and act one ends.
