Here's the new chapter. Match 5 takes place.
They decided to take a wait and see approach against the Iwa team, with chouji taking on a protective role to take attacks and but time to observe.
Kurotsuchi started the fight by quickly weaving some hand seals and slamming her hand into the ground, thereby launching multiple earth spears at them.
They managed to dodge it, and Chouji expanded and tried his Human Bullet Tank attack on Baku, who managed to dodge it once, and then slammed his palms into chouji, while releasing an explosion at the moment of impact. It had a decent amount of impact, enough to push choji back, but it wasn't enough to hurt him significantly in that form.
Shita had gone underground in the meantime, while leaving a couple of earth clones above ground. They were easy to destroy, as Kiba was able to rip through one with relative ease.
Kiba and Akamaru then tried their usual attack on Kurotsuchi, but she'd launched a huge wave of what seemed to be quicklime towards Kiba who was attacking from the front, and when he swerved away, Shita suddenly popped up and moved to strike Kiba. Kiba managed to block his hit and push him away, but Kurotsuchi had caught up and landed a punch that was strong enough to launch him back several feet.
Ouch. That one would've hurt. Akamaru had caught up, and distracted Kurotsuchi with an attack, buying time for Kiba to retreat.
She'd been focusing on dealing with the earth clones and observing the various abilities on display. But she'd seen enough to come up with a plan of sorts by now, so she quickly called for a retreat, while throwing a smoke bomb for cover.
She quickly explained the plan to them. Kiba would be left to deal with Shita, knocking down the earth clones while blocking any surprise attacks he tried to launch. It was perfect for him, given his enhanced sense of smell which could track Shita even through the ground. He probably wouldn't be able to take him down fully, given how diligently Shita was hiding and his speed of retreat back underground, Akamaru and Chouji would by as much time against Kurotsuchi as they could. Akamaru would mostly be serving as a distraction to help make up for Chouji's slower speed compared to Kurotsuchi. And she herself would be taking down Baku quickly. She didn't really explain all the details of the plan, but their team had enough trust in each other to work without all that.
They quickly put it into action. Chouji was the first to strike, launching an attack from above on Kurotsuchi, this time just enlarging his fist. The smoke was still up, so a sneak attack was still possible. Chouji's attack was dodged, so Akamaru quickly followed up. At about the same time, she threw a shuriken at Baku, while casting the shuriken shadow clone jutsu when it was a few metres from him. He quickly moved to dodge, barely evading all of them, but it brought her enough time to close in, her tanto drawn out and held in her right hand.
Baku swung an open palm towards her, probably hoping to use an explosion to force her away. Instead of dodging it like he probably expected, she caught it with her left hand. And...
Nothing.
Baku was clearly surprised, though he could probably feel the chakra drain. Chakra absorption wasn't normally used this way, though it wasn't really much of a combat technique either. By using it just before a counterattack was launched, she could either stop or delay it. Of course, this move required a certain level of skill. It needed to be timed just right, so she had to combine the use of her limited sensing jutsu and intuition she'd developed through practice with her sensei to figure that out. The standard response now that she'd absorbed away his counterattack was to strike with the tanto in her other hand, but in this particular case she could try for something a little more flashy.
She drew back her left hand, slammed it against his stomach, and...
Boom!
In this case, since the technique Baku was using wasn't too hard, ad the most complicated part was getting the chakra of the correct type, she could complete the jutsu herself, reversing it on Baku himself.
The attack was enough to knock him out.
She quickly turned towards Kurotsuchi, who'd managed to knock Akamaru to the ground and back to his dog form, and was beating the shit out of Chouji, who was barely hanging on.
Kurotsuchi saw her coming, and quickly knocked Chouji away to deal with what seemed to be the more immediate threat.
Kurotsuchi was able to cover her fists with earth with a turn of her fist. It was impressive reaction speed. But unfortunately for Kurotsuchi, there was no backup at the moment.
"Agh! My eyes" yelled out Kurotsuchi, distracted by Akamaru's 'Dynamic Marking' aka his piss. Wasn't the coolest move, but it did the job here, buying enough time for her to strike with her tanto, a beautiful white light following the path of the swing, enhancing the damage done.
Kurotsuchi was struck down. It was a shallow strike, but enough to end the fight, as the proctor called the match.
She could hear the murmurs through the crowd as her team was returning. Well that was probably to be expected. The weapon she was using had to belonged to a former hero of Konoha, an unspoke legend whose name had been forgotten in all the tales passed down in Konoha. And now, that legend seemed to be rising up from the grave.
"You alright Chouji ?" she asked. He was clearly the most injured person on the team. Kiba and Akamaru also looked concerned.
He answered, "Yeah." Then he said with a laugh, "So we actually won. That felt better than I expected."
Onoki was the first to speak, and said "Why the hell does she have that sword!"
"Indeed" Rasa said, the curiosity evident in his voice. "I didn't expect to see that sword in use again, and certainly not in the hands of a genin."
He replied "Well, she is the student of Kakashi Hatake, the son of the White fang."
A stroked his beard and said "Kakashi the Copy ninja eh. I suppose it makes some sense then. Quite an interesting team you've got here Hiruzen."
A/N
Hope you enjoyed that chapter. I certainly enjoyed writing it. Also, I'm not sure where I'll explain this part, so I decided to just throw this detail in here. The white light chakra Sabre is basically a sword that has a unique built in mechanism that converts the chakra put into the sword into a unique white coloured Chakra-based substance that inhibits natural healing abilities. In this case, while Kurotsuchi will live, she'll have nasty scar marks. If it was a deep wound, she would have died. The White chakra substance can be molded in other ways, though only Sakumo Hatake, the creator of the blade was able to fully use it's abilities. Sakura certainly won't reach his level in that regard.
