Chapter 11
2025
General John Sheppard stepped into the storage room after medics had taken Sam, Daniel and Jack all the infirmary after the three were found unconscious on the floor. He stood wearing his dress blues wondering what they could have been exposed to that rendered them all unconscious at once. He saw the box on the table and peaked inside. He didn't see anything unusual.
Soon, retired Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman came to the room with Dr. Rodney McKay who rushed to the old Star Gate Command upon hearing that Sam was found unconscious. The pair entered both in civilian attire.
Rodney spoke, "The doctor has no idea why they are unconscious. Vitals are stable but none are waking up." He glanced about, "You find anything? Any clues as to what they were exposed to?"
"Nothing yet, Rodney." John stated.
Walter scanned the area as well. "I hope they find out what is wrong soon." His eyes spotted a small black rock on the floor where Jack had been found earlier. He knelt down and picked it up. "I wonder what this is?" he asked holding the stone.
John asked, "Where did you find that?"
"On the floor." he remarked and handed it to John.
Rodney stated, "Maybe I need to examine that rock." He held out his hand over the box before them.
John shrugged and went to hand the rock to Rodney over the box on the table. Suddenly, there was a bright white light and the three men fell to the floor and the rock back into the box.
1985
Rodney McKay had been seated at the lab table in high school. He wore plastic goggles and a white lab jacket that he had purchased himself just for class. He blinked unsure what just happened. He went to rub his eyes and his hands hit the goggles. He removed the article in comical fashion and rubbed his eyes. "What happened?" he asked himself.
The blonde haired boy sitting next to him at the lab station in the classroom looked over. Anthony was a skinny kid and the school geek. He wore blue jeans, a yellow button down shirt and had braces on his teeth. He asked, "You okay, Rodney?"
Rodney looked over at the young man. He squinted, "Wait! You were my lab partner in high school."
"Um…yeah…" he nodded unsure what to make of the claim.
Rodney looked down at himself and around him. He was in his old high school chemistry class. He spied the teacher at the head of the class who was sitting at his desk reading a book. He recalled his teacher as a nice man who let the kids work independently. He had thinning dark hair, a long face and thick rimmed black glasses. He looked back at Anthony. "What year is it, Anthony?"
"1985." he told him with a worried look. "You just blanked out, Rodney. You think maybe you had a stroke or something?"
"I was sixteen when I had you as a lab partner in high school. Why would I have a stroke? I'm sixteen again…" his eyes grew wide and he gasped. "That rock sent me back to when I was a teenager. That means it also sent Sam back to when she was a teenager."
"Sam is over there." Anthony pointed to another lab table.
Rodney turned half expecting to see Sam Carter. Instead, his eyes landed on a red headed girl around sixteen years old. She had a red lip stick and a fair complexion and wore a pink blouse and blue jeans. "That's Sam Baker." he recalled. He turned to Anthony, "Not that Sam. Sam Carter."
"Who is Sam Carter?" he asked.
"Another girl I know." was all he could say. "If I was affected then so were the others that were exposed." he determined. "I wonder if we were all sent back to the same year?"
Anthony asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Time travel. Instead of physically sending someone back through time you can imprint their future mind onto their younger mind." he informed.
Anthony followed, "That would prevent a paradox."
"That's right! You are a genius too." he grinned at his lab mate. "Forty years from now I will be exposed to a alien device, it's looks like a little rock. It must have imprinted my adult mind over my mind from when I was a kid."
"If that actually happened to you that would be amazing, Rodney." Anthony stated.
"What do you mean if?" Rodney asked.
The boy shrugged, "You could still be having a stroke."
"I'm not having a stroke!" Rodney insisted.
Meanwhile
John Sheppard blinked as he recalled a bright white light. He rubbed his eyes for a moment unsure where he was at first. He then found he was sitting in a classroom. A book was before him on the student desk. He turned about to see where he was. It was English class. He recognized the classroom of his youth. He recalled going to a private high school. He found all the students wore a uniform of a white dress shirt and gray slacks or skirts for girls. He looked own at himself in the same uniform. He looked up to the head of the class as the teacher sat at his desk grading test. John squinted, "I had this class my senior year of high school." He sat bewildered for a moment. "I have to find a way to get a hold of the others." he spoke to himself.
"Shh." the boy next to him hushed.
"Sorry," he winced as he figured he would need time to find out just what happened.
Meanwhile
Air Force Airman Norman "Walter" Davis Harriman blinked as he sat at his post on base. He found himself at a gate in a guardhouse. He looked down at himself. He wore blue dress and had a rank equal to private. He found the base name and a small mirror in the booth. He looked at his youthful face. "I look like a kid again." he noted to himself. He looked out the to a chain link fence and gate he was in charge of. He miffed, "I'm always guarding some kind of gate. Must be that stone was some alien artifact that send you back mentally." He looked at the day's log in paper for the date. "It's 1985. I wonder where everyone else is. I better contact General Hammond." He found a directory and began to go through the officer names and phone numbers.
Later
Daniel Jackson stood before the class at the blackboard. He drew out a large ring with an inner ring, chevrons and symbols on the board as Ralph and the class looked on.
Daniel began his lesson, "The Gate locks onto another Gate by using symbols of other systems. We call it 'dialing' out. Like a rotary phone. We input the symbols into the computer that send it to the Gate and the inner ring turns. When it locks the chevrons lock into place and then it dials the next symbol. Kind of like dialing a combination of a safe. All the addresses in our galaxy is seven symbols. The further out we dial, the more symbols. To dial another galaxy it would be eight symbols or more depending on how far away it is."
Tony asked, "Can we use it to like go to Mars and back?"
"If Mars has a Gate." he nodded.
Sam added, "Mars is so close the symbols would be fewer than seven. I've never figured out what the address for Mars would be." She grinned, "But that would be a great class project."
Daniel asked, "Trying to find a way to keep yourself busy until you can your hands on an actual Gate, Sam?"
"Aren't you?" she asked knowing.
A knock came at the door.
Ralph stated, "I wonder who that is." as he walked over to see who was knocking. He opened the door to Colonel Hammond dressed in civilian clothing of a tan jacket with tan slacks. Beside him was Walter also in civilian clothing of jeans and a jacket. "Colonel?" he asked a bit concerned.
"I need to speak to you and the class." he informed.
"Come in." he opened the door for the men.
Hammond led Walter into the class. Sam, Janet and Daniel all traded glances wondering if somehow Walter was exposed as well.
Ralph closed the door and waited to see what news Colonel Hammond had.
Hammond let out a deep sigh and then looked at Daniel, Sam and Janet. "More have been exposed to the stone in the future."
Walter cheered, "SG-1 as teenagers. Dr. Frasier." he gave a nod.
"When did you get hit, Walter?" Sam asked.
"Right after you, General. Myself, General Sheppard and Dr. McKay all went to the storage room looking for clues. You were all found on the floor unconscious. I found the stone on the floor and handed it to General Sheppard and he was handing it off to Dr. McKay and it must have activated. I was hit by a blinding white light and now I am back to being an E-2 on guard duty. I found General Hammond's number and called him. I figured he would be my best bet since he helped get SG-1 back during the 1969 incident."
Janet stated, "Welcome to the club, Walter."
"Good to see you again, Dr. Frasier." he gave her a warm smile. He then stated, "General Hammond left instructions in his will for me to do some research after he passed. He did say I would need to debrief SG-1 on the information later but he didn't say when."
Daniel asked, "What was the research?"
"Research some projects and people from the 80's. It made no sense to me but I did it." He looked about, "I guess I know now why I was given the task."
Hammond stated, "Myself in the future will instruct Chief Master Sergeant Harriman to find out what happened to those who are working with us on the mission. I had him research Airwolf and her crew. Michael Knight and Knight Industries. And a being called Moloch."
Daniel cocked an eyebrow, "Moloch?"
"Yes sir." Walter informed. "It's a cult. Very powerful, own a private island. They have rich people, celebrities and weird occult things going on there."
"Great…" he sounded annoyed.
"Moloch has real power. He could be half ascended, like Anubis was." Walter stated. "I was told to just follow it, gather intel and then give it to you when we are close to disclosure."
"Half ascended being with a cult on Earth?" Daniel asked.
"Looks like it." he reported.
"Wonderful," he rolled his head back.
Sam asked, "What did you get on Airwolf and the crew, Walter?"
"Airwolf will be decommissioned in two years. It was scrapped. The first crew was Stringfellow Hawke who helped design it. Dominic Santini. He dies in an explosion in 1986. That explosion wounds Stringfellow Hawke for life. He died in 2022, was in bad shape physically. Caitlin O'Shannessy returned to her family in Texas and was still alive last I looked. Saint John Hawke, brother to Stringfellow Hawke took over flying missions the last year of operations with Jo Santini, the niece who inherited the airfield. Two other were brought on from the military to assist. Colonel Hammond doesn't think we need the other two. Michael Knight is alive and well in 2025. He's retired and has his own web page and You Tube channel. Knight Industry Two Thousand was decommissioned and scrapped for parts. The A.I. was not saved as the owner died and no one wanted an obsolete A.I.. Mr. Hinckley contacted me personally after we lost…" he glanced at Janet and then paused. He then swallowed hard and continued, "He told me about the red suit and the aliens. I found nothing on it. No news reports, nothing. No one even remembered it. He gave me a letter that was written by Colonel Hammond, addressed to me with confirmation that there was a man in a red suit, that Dr. Frasier was one of the few who remembered it and to come up with a list of possible alien races that were capable of mass amnesia on a public scale. I came up with five possibilities: The Asgard, The Nox, the Furlings or the Ancients. It's also possible to have a rogue actors who has access to the technology left behind by the four great races."
Sam stated, "Thank you for researching and memorizing all that, Walter."
"Yes ma'am." he gave a nod.
Janet asked, "What happens to me?"
Walter looked to Sam and Daniel.
Daniel filled her in, "It will happen on P3X-666. You were off world tending to a wounded man. We were thick in battle. You were hit. Died instantly. You did save Major Wells. It happened right in front of me. I'm hoping that maybe I can change that this time around."
"Losing you was hard, Janet." Sam stated somberly. "I really don't want to attend your funeral twice."
Feeling rather upset by the news Tony spoke up. "Hey! We can change it. We know what will happen and we can change it."
Sam agreed, "We can but if we change the timeline too much then all the information that me and Daniel have is useless. And if we get Russian's Gate early and start operations ten years early, that timeline is going to change drastically."
Tony shrugged, "So!"
"We have keep history on track." Sam insisted.
He asked, "How do you know the timeline you have in your head is even the right timeline, Sam?"
She confessed, "I don't but we do need to keep millstones."
Janet huffed, "Aliens give the population mass amnesia and I get killed in action. Screw the milestones!"
Karl cheered, "Right on, Janet! We ain't letting you get killed by aliens on some other planet."
Daniel stated, "And we still have intel. We still know about the Goa'uld and the technology. Come on, Sam. We literally found a two thousand year old VHS tape of ourselves in a sealed Egyptian tomb. I'm sure we screwed some things up."
Janet asked, "When did that happen?"
"That was the year before Daniel found the space pirate." she informed. She then gave a sigh, "I guess if the program starts early we can still make some milestones." She then winced, "Rodney McKay."
