This story is something quite special. The Gargoyles universe is one that doesn't receive nearly the acclaim it deserves. For a show written in the 90s, it was quite ahead of its time. If you're a longtime fan of our favorite heroes on a half-shell, then I know you'll love Gargoyles as much as I do. If you watch Gargoyles closely, you'll see how well and how closely the themes line up; tolerance and judgement, prejudice and compassion, loyalty and betrayal. But ultimately, both stories are about how the most unconventional families can form the most powerful bonds.

If you would like to read this, I must add some disclaimers.

This story has blood, action, suspense, and violence in spades.

It wouldn't be TMNT without some good old-fashioned sci-fi body horror, and it wouldn't be Gargoyles without some fairly edgy and mature themes (for a Disney show). It also has some language in it that you'd definitely never hear on TV. No slurs, but certainly you'll hear Raphael say 'fuck' once in a while.

This story takes place during the weeks and months just after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. As the author, I have gone to great pains to research this period of time for the sake of accuracy and sensitivity. My goal is to portray this time period with the respect and sensitivity it deserves.

Other themes include child abuse, neglect, and abandonment-as well as examples of good parenting and healthy relationships to contrast and highlight what makes such relationships work.

It also delves into topics like police violence, both from the perspective of law enforcement and people of color. Elisa Maza and April O'Neil's interactions tend to revolve around this, and it has been painstakingly researched.

If you're looking for turtlecest-written or implied-move the fuck along, I don't want you here.
