Chapter three:

The group slowly walked back to the castle, gently catching up on news. Halt was curious as to how Will became so good with the axe, and so he asked.

"Well," Will began, thinking his words through, "just training I guess." Tho Halt was unsatisfied with the answer, he didn't press any further. By the time they reached the castle, the first light of dawn was beginning to break over the castle.

Cassandra waited for her husband on the battlements, a blanket draped around her shoulders, shivering in the cold. She was upset, to say the least. This was supposed to be the first night she and Horace spent together as husband and wife, but he had been summoned by the strange, god-like warriors. Cassandra had been with Horace, and she knew that he was likely being summoned on a foreign mission. She ignored the other possibility, that it had been an assassination attempt. Cassandra had seen the skill of these warriors, and she doubted that Halt and Horace, great fighters as they were, could stand a chance in a fight. And so, she was the first to hear the party approaching the castle, talking in soft voices, and, to her surprise, a disjointed, choppy voice. Cassandra peered over the battlements, sling at the ready and saw the group walking calmly across the field.

"Horace!" she called out to her husband, "what did they want?"

"I'll tell you once we're inside!" Horace called back. After about two minutes, the group arrived at the spot where Cassandra waited. She was thunderous, but she didn't show it. To her surprise, although the two giants stopped about three meters away, the midget continued to stride towards her, stepping silently over the creaky boards. He stopped when he was close enough to whisper in her ear, "are you Evalyn?"

Cassandra felt as though roots were clinging to her, holding her down. How dare this person use that name?! The only people allowed to use it were Horace, Halt and Will. Cassandra felt a wave of sadness flow over her as she remembered her deceased brother and she suddenly felt exhausted. That was until she heard Halts next words.

"What're you waiting for?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice, "aren't you going to welcome Will?"

No. no, no, no, no, no, no, NO! What did Halt think he was doing?!

"Are you Evelyn?" Will asked again, he sounded slightly upset, "are you my sister?"

It couldn't be true, it COULDN'T be! Cassandra felt her breath constrict in her chest. But even Horace asked what was wrong. Suddenly, it all felt real. Everything. This was her Will and she hugged him, sobbing into his cloak, holding on tightly. Now that her Will was back, everything felt alright again. Everything from here on out would be ok.
