Summary:

Roxanne was a student at Hogwarts, a proud Hufflepuff that had managed to befriend not only Albus Dumbledore but his troublemaker secret friend, Gellert Grindelwald. The relationship between the three of them was blooming, uncertain feelings were growing between them and uncertain decisions were to be made.

However, it was the duel and the death of Arianna that made the three of them take separate paths, their past now a tortuous burden in their everyday lives.

Years later, the young witch is approached by both of her childhood friends, at different times. Both ask the same thing from her...to join their side but under different terms.

With her never-forgotten emotions in her way and the fate of the world in danger, can she truly make that choice?

Can she turn her back on one friend and lover, to help the other?

[A/N] ~ My first ever fanfiction of this idea and content. Due to a lack of clear dates about the past, I have done some changes in the backstory to add more depth to the relationships and the characters.

Grindelwald is one year younger than Albus and the same age as Roxanne (my oc). In addition, he comes one year before Albus graduates and their friendship evolves over the year (not in the months as it is said in the wiki).

The same events will take place but with bigger gaps between them for better continuity and chances to explore many views, while giving more time for the character to interact and develop.

The story starts as Roxanne and Albus are young, following the attack on Arianna (with few changes on the location), goes forward with Grindelwald's appearance and eventually starts from the second movie and onwards (with extra scenes in between each major plot in the two movies).

I try to keep all characters as canon as possible and the same for the timeline. Although the past is unclear and so are the younger versions of the protagonist, so I try my best to make it as realistic as possible.

Also in this story, there is a polyamorous or open relationship between the three of them (Gellert, Albus & Roxanne). Most specifically, Dumbledore and Grindelwald have feelings for one another but at the same time, each one has feelings about Roxanne. She has feelings for both of them as well, which creates this multi-directional love triangle.

There will be a few more details of mature content here and there, so the story is under M for safety. TW for future Gashlightning, Toxicity and manipulation, along with other darker relationship traits (because it is Grindelwald).

Last thing, due to the debate and also move changes between Depp and Mikkelsen; I won't go into detail appearances about Grindelwald. Especially as an adult, I will avoid mentioning some hair or eye colour specifically, so you dear reader can imagine whomever you want while reading the story.

Hope you like it and don't forget to let me know what you think. Criticism is always welcome and I apologise in advance for any mistakes in Grammar and stuff.

Godric's Hollow was a little village, famous to wizards only as the place of origin and rest for the famous Wizard: Godric Gryffindor.

In that village, a few wizarding families lived there, hiding in secret amongst the muggles. Among them, three great families were the main ones whom history will later remember.

The first was the Louises. A British woman fell in love with an American wizard and together; bore an intelligent and sweet daughter.

Their close neighbours were the Dumbledores. A family of five with three thriving young children and two Gifted parents; all leaving in harmony.

Last was the Bagshots, from which only one woman had remained in that old big house at the edges of the little village.

They were the only wizarding families to exist there and for that, they made sure to keep contact with one another.

While Bathilda Bagshot spent most of her days as a historian and buried in her books, the Louises befriended the Dumbledores.

The oldest child of the couple, Roxanne, was only a year younger than their eldest; Albus. Those two didn't truly click one from day one but slowly, they started to enjoy the company of one another.

Kendra Dumbledore would often invite young Roxanne to dinner, knowing very well that the little girl had lost her mother at birth and there was no other female in her life. This kind gesture was something Roxanne would never forget and it was what would eventually drive her to pursue the same in her relationship with others and mostly the three siblings of the Dumbledore family.

Roxanne, especially, often found herself accompanying young Arianna to the village or hanging around with her; playing games and reading stories to one another.

However, fate had its dark fingers stretched for long and it was about time to forever impact their lives and shape their futures.

One day, 6-year-old Arianna and 9-year-old Roxanne had taken a stroll to gather some sprint-blooming flowers for their parents.

Roxanne was a metamorphmagus, capable of altering her appearance at will. Of course, being so young she lacked the superb control older ones had. This resulted often in her hair changing colour and having to wear a wig outside.

But when she was around the Dumbledores, she could herself. Her biggest admirer was Arianna, who always loved to see the shape-shifting abilities of her older friend.

On that particular day, Roxanne was focusing strongly on her emotions and imagination. Her hair quickly turned from its natural black to green and even purple, before taking a neon blue shade.

Arianna clapped with happiness, in one hand holding a small basket filled with flowers. She chuckled at the little show and that moment of happiness awakened something within her.

The female Dumbledore was always Gifted with strong magic, something that had shown up early; earlier than most. When she was at her most happy, she felt confident to try small things.

For example, to focus on a red tulip that was held in Roxanne's hands and make it orange. This was their favourite little game and Roxanne always encouraged her to keep trying, while telling her how amazing she would become once she would attend Hogwarts.

Yet on that particular day, they were not alone. For three muggle boys from the neighbouring village had come to cause trouble once again; having vandalised fields and houses before.

They spied upon the two unsuspicious girls, wanting to prank them but their plans came to a halt when they noticed how both were different.

"Witch!" One of them shouted and a finger was pointed in their direction.

Immediately, the two girls stopped their little giggles and froze like deer spotted by a hunter. Turning their attention to the boys hiding behind a tree not so far away, it was Roxanne that tried to solve the situation.

"Hey, we are not witches. What makes you think we are one? I mean, witches aren't real" she said, trying her best to make them change their minds.

A small panic had started to build up inside of her and it took all of her willpower not to lose control of her abilities and let her hair change colour.

"Liar! We saw you!" Another boy shouted and picked up a rock, aiming for Roxanne.

He threw the stone and it hit the edge of her forehead, quickly damaging the skin and causing blood to come from it.

"Hey!" Arianna shouted, rushing to stand in front of Roxanne. "Sta-stay away! Leave!" She shouted, trying to sound brave to the boys that were far older than her.

However, her little heroic moment seemed to only induce fear and worry into their hearts. For another one grabbed a stone and threw it at Arianna, barely missing an eye.

"Get the witches! Let's burn them!" The third boy shouted, riling up the other two.

Immediately, Roxanne pushed Arianna further behind her and she got her firsts ready. She was not a fighter but she was not going to let any harm come to the little girl.

Before any of them knew it, the battle had begun. Roxanne tried her best to block any blows but her little experience and short stature did not help. She eventually had manages to deliver a good punch, knowing so by the sharp pain coming from her bruises knuckles.

But she received plenty, one attack was with the help of a stone that knocked her on the ground. A visible wound and future scar would forever form on her cheekbone, where the last hit of that fight was delivered.

Not long after that Roxanne found her way to the ground and Arianna climbed onto the tree terrified, they heard a familiar voice.

"What is going on?!" The head of the Dumbledore family, Percival, shouted.

Immediately the boys scattered, too afraid to deal with anyone else. Yet, that would not be the last time he would encounter them for what they did.

"Daddy!" Arianna shouted from the branch she was hiding, tears staining her beautiful face and her whole body was shaking from the sobs and the fear those boys caused her.

Dizzy, Roxanne slowly lifted herself off the ground. Her head was killing her, her right-hand knuckles bruised and sore from the hit she delivered. A stinging pain made her touch her cheekbone with her good hand, only to flinch as she made that pain worse.

Her feet felt wobbly and she struggled to stand when someone grabbed her, holding them in their embrace.

"Roxie! Are you ok?" Dumbledore asked, having joined his father in the search for the two girls that were late to return home.

"Albus" the metamorphmagus whispered his name, amber eyes opening to look into his blue ones.

Relief flashed through her whole body, feeling a sudden safety in his hands. She gave just the weakest of smiles before passing out in his arms.

What followed next, would forever be enraged in everyone's memory.

Roxanne did not get badly injured and her wounds were nothing some healing spells and potions could not fix. Thankfully for her, her father was a former doctor at St. Magot and knew how to help.

That, though, did not mean that she was free to return to her usual lifestyle. Her father, after passing scared that he would lose her too, made it clear that she would take a week to rest at minimum. In addition, he forbade her from going anywhere unattended.

Yet, it was the Dumbledore family that had it worse.

Percival was furious at what had transpired between the muggle boys and the two girls. His daughter, just 6 years of age, was crying upstairs for days; terrified to go out or use her powers.

The child was afraid those boys or men would come after them, hunt them down like the witches back them in Salem; a story she heard often in their little muggle village school. On top of that, Arianna felt guilty for the situation Roxanne was in.

She blamed her powers that they were the ones drawing the attention of the boys. What she once cherished and enjoyed, she now hated and cursed for existing.

Percival could not take that torture anymore and so, he vowed his revenge. One dreadful night he walked out of the house, not a word to anyone about where he was going.

The answer came the following day when the three boys were found lifeless in the same field they had attacked the two girls.

Of course, muggles did not realize that the killing curse had been the one to their lives. They thought that some sick killer had attacked them and simply made that village and Godric's Hollow stay on alert.

The British Ministry, on the other hand, was quick to connect the dots. Breaking a very serious law, there was only one single punishment for him; Azkaban.

One would say that he could defend himself and explain the reasons for his attack but he knew that if he spoke of the two children, there would be consequences. Magic was forbidden to be used outside of school, let alone unsupervised and out in the open.

He would not risk the lives of the two girls and so, he chose to remain silent until his upcoming death; never once asked to see his family again.

A few months later and September was just around the corner. The funeral of the boys had been held and no one suspected that wizards were behind their deaths.

However, rumours did start to spread in Godric's Hollow at the sudden disappearance of Percival. Thankfully for Kendra, Jasper Louise remained a close friend and stood by her side as the months passed.

Albus received his letter throughout summer, officially being accepted as a student at Hogwarts. While most would be ecstatic about the news, he wasn't.

The absence of his father laid heavy in his heart, every day a reminder of his eternal punishment and the reason for it. His sister had isolated herself and rarely came out, making him often feel as if he had lost a sibling for real.

The only little light in his life at that time was Roxanne. Despite all that took place, she stood by his side and by his sister's side as well. Deep down, Albus was thankful for a lot of things when it came to Roxanne.

One and the most important, perhaps, was the fact that she defended Arianna by risking her own life. If she had not been there, perhaps it would be his dear sister laying on the ground with wounds.

The two of them sat under a weeping willow on a small hill, having a great view of their village just a little further away. That place had become their little hideout, somewhere where they could escape everyone and everything.

With their backs pressed against the tree bark, Roxanne leaned to rest her head on his shoulder. Her right cheek and cheekbone bore a long scar; a reminder of that unjustified attack by the muggle boys.

She did not bother with it but often, when Albus looked at it; he could not help but remember. Remember how late he was, how powerless he was and how his father paid due to this ridiculous secrecy they were forced to endure.

"I think it will be amazing at Hogwarts" Roxanne said, a small smile on her lips as she read over and over the letter of acceptance. "Although, it has a lot of studying" she commenter, never failing to notice the big list of books that he had to purchase.

Her naive nature had managed to amuse Albus and make him smile. "Don't worry, next year you will get your own. Then, you can worry about your studies" he said and snatched the letter from her hands.

"Hey," she exclaimed but could not help the chuckle escaping her lips. Her hair immediately turned a faint orange and she quickly moved her body to grab the letter back.

She was too slow and Albus had already pulled it out of her reach. She ended up falling forward, landing on his lap while he held the letter with triumphant in one hand.

"Remind me not to let you try out for a seeker" he joked, making her pout like a child and blow a strand off her face.

Bringing her body back to a normal sitting position, she looked at him; her smile long gone. "I will miss you. It will be boring without you here"

Albus placed his hand on top of hers in a reassuring manner. "You know I will write to you and I will be back for Christmas and summer"

Roxanne lifted her picky finger. "Promise?" She asked with the most innocent face possible, her hair a light blue.

He wrapped his pinkie around hers. "I promise"
