Silence filled the SUV. Spencer looking out of the passenger side window, his soaked clothing clung to his thin body, his hair drying naturally making it a frizzy curled mess around his face. He looked past his reflection but not seeing the passing scenery. He had broken his only rule. Never use magic in the field yet he had not only used magic he had harnessed something new right in front of everyone. He had never had the ability to do before, he had never moved so fast in his life. He had jumped and saw the boy falling and willed himself to get to him and then he was there so he grabbed him as he felt the electricity coming at them. It had hurt getting hit in the leg by the bolt as he was enveloped in water and the water just going to town with that charge. He for a moment thought only of saving the boy and nature had answered his call. But now, everyone knew. They knew for sure and he was not sure that he could handle what they would think of him now.
Arriving back at the police station Spencer shook his head as he stepped in the light of mid day, his eyes squinting gasping in pain as he brought his palms to his eyes to try and press the pain away. JJ moved to help him looking concerned but he stepped back, a hand rose as he flinched away from her.
"Don't" he snapped and she stepped back.
" Spense!?" she asked and he nodded.
" My head just hurts… I'm fine" he stated as he had been through a long day already. The others glancing at each other but no one forced him to tell them anything.
" Let's get this wrapped up" Rossi said as he walked past them and into the station.
Reid's leg would not stop bouncing and his fingers twitched. He tried to focus on the paperwork in front of him but his mind was fuzzy. He had that same itch that he had before but it was stronger and he almost felt like he was suffocating. The station was rather cool so that was not the issue.
" Hey…kid…you okay?" Morgan asked softly as he brought him a cup of coffee. Spencer shaking his head slightly.
" I cant focus…its so loud in here" he stated but Morgan blinked and glanced around as it was not loud at all. His eyes looking over his friend noticing he was sweating as he reached out and touched his fore head and it was cold as ice.
" Jesus…" he suddenly forced Reid a cup of water and calling over Hotch.
" I think he is going into shock…" he said but Reid tired to stand to get away.
" I am fine…really" he mumbled weakling trying to push past them. If it had not been for Hotch however seeing his eyes roll back in his head he would have hit the ground. His body convulsing as screams for a medic rang through the police station but it was Jack Connel that came over.
" Help me!" he growled as he grabbed the convulsing Reid. Morgan and Hotch looking at him confused but helped lift him as he led them towards the back of the station and outside into the grass. The other agent suddenly digging into the dirt before taking out a knife. Everyone watched in horror the convulsions got worse but Connel sliced the young mans hand deep and using the blood to write marks onto the pale skin.
" What the fuck are you doing!" morgan went to stop him but Rossi stopped him.
" Look…" he motioned to see Reid slowly calming. The thick smell of ozone in the air.
" Fuck fuck fuck…you stupid stupid " Connel was franticly working as the sky grew dark with clouds. Police and FBI watching as one of their own was doing some sort of ritual a single medic suddenly coming through as the tall dark man stopped and saw what was happening and instead of moving to assist Reid he moved to help Connel, his hand resting on the other agents bare arm as the tension that had been there seeming to fade as the Agent looked to the man fondly in relief before placing his hands on Spencer's now bare and blood symbol smeared chest.
" Get inside!" Connel growled but the BAU team was reluctant.
" He will be fine but you have to get inside…" he stated and they all went back inside but stood a the door watching as the southern detective was mumbling something and the dark medic had a hand on each agent and then there was a micro bust of wind and the door slammed so they could not see.
The next time the team saw Reid he was being loaded into an ambulance, barely conscious with a mask over his face to breath. Hotch storming up to Connel for answers but the other man, still drenched was standing back and rose a hand.
" Calm down Agent Hotchner…he is gonna be just fine…he just had to be grounded…which why the fuck does he not have grounder?!" he growled as he looked at the other man. Hotch looking confused as Connel suddenly barked a laugh, his hand going through his hair.
" Holy shit…really? All of ya'll are profilers and had no idea did you?" he asked Morgan crossing his arms over his chest.
" Idea about what? We have never seen anything like that before Agent Connel but you seemed to know what the hell is going on…so you better start talking!" he growled advancing forward but Hotch stopped him.
" Enough…I just want answers…" he said and Connel looked at him.
" I cant give you any answers until the Directors get here" he stated.
" Wait…you mean as if the Director of the FBI?" Emily asked and Connel looked at her and nodded.
" FBI, CIA, NSA and DOM" he stated.
"DOM?" Rossie asked.
" That is not any agency I have heard of." He said and Connel glanced to him.
" You wouldn't have…you do not possess or work with magic…"
You could have heard a pin drop at those words. The team stunned into silence for the first time in a long time.
" This is going to be a long night" Hotch sighed as his head started to pound.
