Chapter 2

I am so sorry guys, I didn't forget about this story, I have had a right mare with my laptop which is how I started this story, my other story I'm writing I luckily started on my notes on my phone. So I have finally got my laptop working again so hopefully should be getting more quicker updates.

Andy slept better that night, better than she had for weeks, she did hope he hadn't risked anything by sending that message, they needed this op to go well, they needed the answers, and Andy needed Sam back in one piece. She remembered how she felt when the Jamie Brennan case went to shit, at least she had some insight to what he was working with, she knew nothing about what he was up to… maybe that was better. She was glad Donovan Boyd wasn't anything to with this, after he screwed over Sam last time.

The days turned into weeks, weeks into months and here she was 6 months without seeing or talking to her husband. She's not sure how much more she can take, even though there was always a chance she kept telling herself it wouldn't take that long. To make matters worse Tracy had tried to reach out to Sam's handler for weeks but to no avail. They had tried to convince HQ that Tracy could be Sam's handler, but they had point blank refused stating that an outsider would be better so that no one could accuse them of anything, and they could then nail the guys that did it with no issues. It was a high profile case and they had to get it right.

Andy had just walked into the station after being at a scene for the last 4 hours, they had all been called to a multiple vehicle crash which was caused by a drunk driver driving the wrong way down the street. As she was the road sergeant, she was last one back.

"McNally, how about karaoke night, tonight at the penny, Epstein and Price are coming too".

"Sure, got nothing else to do, practically a free woman nowadays" Oliver didn't miss the sadness in her tone.

"Good, I'll meet you out front in… 1 hour?"

Andy walked outside to find Oliver leaning against his car, he looked at his watch.

"Nice of you to finally make it Mcnally" Oliver smiled.

"Oliver I'm gonna take the truck just in case I wanna bail"

Oliver nodded, he knew she was struggling. Not so much at work, she was one of the best officers he had ever come across, he had no reason to worry about that, his worries were about outside of work. He could only hope that Sam's op wrapped up quick. He hated seeing Andy like this, he had only seen her like this once and that was when she came back from undercover to find Sam with Marlo.

They walked into the penny and found Dov, Chloe & Gail sat at a table looking over the karaoke folder. Oliver ordered drinks and they set to work deciding what to sing. Andy noticed Nick slip in the door and take a seat at the bar. She also noticed him down 3 whiskeys in 5 minutes. Her thoughts were interrupted when Dov and Chloe were called up to sing. After much laughter watching Dov and Chloe's rendition of karma chameleon. Andy had point blank refused to sing, she just wasn't in the mood. She headed over to Nick.

" What do you want Mcnally?"

" Wow, what got your panties in a bunch"

"I just wanna sit here, minding my own business, having a drink"

" Nick, I just watched you down 3 whiskeys in 5 minutes, that's not just a drink, that's a pattern, remember I'm the daughter of an alcoholic, your not that guy nick"

" You don't know me anymore Andy, people change, you should know that better than anyone, you Married one, except your pet project changed for the better"

"Well that was uncalled for, I know you nick, whether you've been gone for a while or not, I know you better than anyone, we all know something happened, this is your family, right here nick, we all love you, and we are here for you, when your ready to let us in, we will be here to support you.. don't push us away… oh and if you wanted a quiet drink, perhaps coming to a bar full of people that love you wasn't the best idea" she squeezed his shoulder but not before noticing a slight smile form on his face. "So when you've finished feeling sorry for yourself, come chat with us, it might make the internal fight your having a bit more bearable, remember your not the only one having a tough time right now"

She headed back to the rest of the gang, Nick joined them a few minutes later. Whilst Oliver, Dov, Gail and Chloe were deep in conversation, Nick and Andy had a steady conversation about a case they had both worked on.

"Any news on Swareks op?" Nick wondered.

"No, not for lack of trying though, that's the worst part, the not knowing, even if they fed us a bit of info every now and then, but they are being totally tight lipped, I understand they need an air tight case to nail these bastards, but Sam has a family, not just for me, but for his daughter. The sooner this op is done the better".

"Now you know how Sam probably felt when we went undercover"?

"Very true, however it was probably worse for him, one minute he was grovelling, thinking we had a chance to get back together and next thing I had disappeared, no notice. I never expected to spend my first year of marriage apart, but I think once this is done there will be absolutely no more undercover for him, he only went under because he felt guilty for sending Chloe and Nadia to that warehouse, he's shouldering the blame for something that was not his fault."

"No one knew what was waiting for them at that warehouse, no one even knew it was anything to do with the case, it was searched just as a low grade tip off" nick replied sincerely

" I know, we have all tried telling him, I think he just needs the closure, we all do and he has the best undercover reputation in the whole of the force."

Nick left shortly after that, he seemed in Andy's opinion a bit more positive. Oliver and Tracy had been doing everything to keep Andy's mind off of Sam being gone, the least she could do was pay it forward to nick even if she had no idea what he was going through.

Oliver had been frantically texting for the last 5 minutes. A smile on his face.

"Oliver, you got a new lady friend you haven't told us about" Andy wondered.

"Wouldn't you like to know Mcnally, I'm not one to kiss and tell"

Andy chuckled, Oliver always knew how to make her laugh.

" On that note, I am off, I will see you in 2 days"

" oh yeah I forgot your off tomorrow, have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't"

" oh yeah I'll have fun moping around my empty house all day" she sulked.

Oliver was still smiling which kind of freaked her out. she waved bye to Chloe and Dov and went towards the truck

She had her phone out quickly checking if she had any messages in regards to Sam

"whatcha doing mcnally" she knew that voice anywhere. Her head snapped up and sure enough leaning against their truck was her husband. She forced herself into a sprint and jumped at him. He embraced her in a hug and grabbed her face to kiss her, 6 months he had been without her. He made it count.

" Are you done" she asked hesitantly

" Yep, im all yours"

" Thank god I have the day off tomorrow, I want to know everything"

" thank god I have the next week off, I have a lot of making up to do" he said as he kissed her again.

" Damn right you do" she laughed
