Annabeth finally made it into the throne room. She has been trapped under the statue of Hera along with Thalia and had not seen how the battle was decided. Her eyes scanned the room for Percy, hoping to see if he was all right. What she saw instead was Luke, knelt before a shroud. The shroud was bright sea green and had a trident on the front. Annabeth felt her blood turn to ice as Luke looked up at her, his eyes bright blue. She dimly registered the gods filing into the room but she did not care.

"What happened?" She demanded as she looked at the former vessel of Kronos.

"Percy, pulled Kronos out of me somehow. Took him into his own body and then slashed himself across the small of his back." Luke said in shock. "He saved my life at the price of his own." A tear was threatening to spill from those icy blue eyes. "Why did he do it, Annabeth? I betrayed everything I loved just for revenge. I don't understand."

But Annabeth was beyond answering. She fell to her knees, not believing that the shroud could really contain the boy she loved. She reached over and removed the top where the head was and tears burned her eyes. There he was, so pale and unmoving. No smile adorned his face and his sea green eyes were closed, never to open again. Annabeth released a deep keen, like an animal that was wounded as she laid her head against his chest. She heard footsteps around her but barely registered them. A kind voice, so like Percy's made her snap out of her grief for just a moment.

"Now, Miss Chase. It is not over. There is a precedence for this kind of thing."

Poseidon, god of the sea, stood with his trident drawn. Zeus and Hades had also drawn their symbols of power and hovered them over Percy's body.

"My brother is right, though it pains me." Hades replied. "Percy Jackson will undergo the process to make him a god. As much as Alecto was looking forward to teasing him in the Underworld from time to time. Move aside for now girl."

Annabeth gulped. "Milords, he would not want this. Not to be alone without his friends forever."

She felt a hand on her shoulder and she was moved away from his body. "He won't be." Her mother told her. "You may undergo the same process and join him, if you desire. As much as I would rather he stay away from you, I cannot deny him or you this. Not after the sacrifice made here today."

"Mom, why did he do it?" Annabeth asked as tears stung her eyes again. She saw Luke being led away from the throne room as the eldest gods started to chant in Ancient Greek.

It was a long pause before Athena answered. "He thought you would be happy if Luke lived through the war. You had mentioned more than a few times that you wanted to save him. So he asked us for a device that could displace Kronos in another."

Annabeth felt anger but wisely kept her tongue. She watched as Percy's body turned into golden light and vanished.

"It is done. The son of the Sea god will manifest soon as the god of heroes. He will be tasked with overseeing the demigods to camp and become the Co-Director of Camp Half-Blood. Annabeth Chase, will you accept godhood and be his partner in this endeavor, forever?"

Annabeth smiled. Camp Half-blood was her home. She had given it her blood, sweat, and tears for eight years. She could see it now, her and her Seaweed Brain, taking care of the camp and watching the many generations of heroes alongside Chiron.

"I do. I accept this commission from the Council. I will make sure Percy is up to the challenge as well."

"Good." Poseidon smiled. "Us knows he needs you at his side. It will be a little soon to marry you two, but it will happen before long I am sure."

Annabeth smiled as she started to turn golden. "Oh yes, don't worry. Seaweed Brain will not be having any affairs with mortal women. I am a double handful."

She felt her consciousness fade as she ascended to godhood. Her last thoughts as a mortal were. 'I'm coming for you, Seaweed Brain. We will be together, forever. Even if I have to hit you until you realize I am the one you love. After all, we are stronger together.'
