And so, without wasting time we shut down the computer and focused on our goal, which was to catch up with the footprints left by the unknown man on his motorcycle. Of course, we weren't alone. The rest of the ICPO had been briefed on the whole situation, so they sent in a helicopter and three more patrol cars, in case Kira's tool was dangerous to a degree we might not have known about. For a moment I thought about borrowing a bike from that hotel again since this particular one was rapid enough, but L suggested me to get another old faded bike from the basement, which was just as fast and its speed was perfect for such cases. I finally agreed to get the faded one.
We left the secret base behind and headed straight for the building of Yotsuba. We were a perfect police team chasing crime and bringing it to justice with huge eagerness. In our group, there were three patrol cars the first was driven by my partners, a helicopter driven by L and Light, and I a fourteen-year-old on a bicycle. Yet, I was too a member of the group.
At first, I couldn't believe it. I thought it was just a crime movie. That I was the viewer. But now,I was the one being in the protagonist's shoes who hunts down evil. Thus, I had to do my best and get into the spirit of justice! No... It's not a dream. I'm indeed hunting down Kira with my partners... His ally... His tool. A deadly weapon crafted by the Grim Reaper's hands. Straight from the Underworld, specially made for Kira, the son of Hades.
Who knows... Kira might actually be the son of Hades!
It was a real chase! The third Kira rushed on his motorcycle trying to get away from us while we tried not to cause accidents. Naturally, no one in the team couldn't accelerate, as we were on the highway. It was indeed the typical road filled with cars, and barely able to see where the man went. The police cars had their sirens on, and yes, most cars made room for them to pass, but the freeway was still congested.
The situation was unbearable. It felt like a set-up by the drivers to prevent us from catching Kira. Where else would a criminal go to avoid being caught by the police? He would obviously choose the highway. Well... Now that I about it, a common driver would lose their cool inside this sea of cars. And from what I noticed, most of the cars didn't honk. Everyone waited patiently... I once read in a book that Japanese people learn from a young age to keep their cool, as it's considered an important part of culture. It is true at last.
These thoughts kept spinning in my mind when suddenly my cell phone rang. It was L.
"Is everything alright down there, Marina?" he asked.
"Yes, am fine. Except for the traffic jam that got on my nerves, everything is alright. We're waiting around twenty minutes for the cars to move!"
"Some have moved. Please be patient."
A thought flashed through my mind. "Ryuzaki, don't helicopters have some kind of satellite?"
"They do. The helicopter I'm currently driving has a GPS system."
"Did you turn it on?"
"Light turned it on and tried to track him down, but judging by the machine, he's gone off the highway."
"How did he leave? That's a car sea! Did he fly or something?"
"I can't be sure either. We'll see what kind of machine he's got."

Suddenly I noticed a motorcycle fifty meters away from the police vehicles, blowing red smoke from the bumper. It felt like all this sense of boredom left off of me...
"Are you spotting something, Ryuzaki?"
"I think yes, but the helicopter satellite seems indecisive about detection. Did you spot anything?"
"Yeah! A motorcycle with red smoke! It's exactly fifty meters away from us."
"What colour are the cars around it?"
"Don't worry about that. I've already found the perfect plan for the occasion. Trust me!"
We hung up the phone.
The marker was the only way to capture him. He would be in our hands in a glance. But then I remembered my sister's warning, that the power of the marker shouldn't be revealed to an adult because they'll lose it. And if it does, I'll be stuck in the past forever. It was part of the plan, though! When there are already two Kiras and another one is added, who's a minion of the first one, you can't just sit in an idle way. Of course, you're gonna react!
I took the marker out of my pocket as well as the drawing pad and started drawing a rope. I knew there were people around me watching, and thus would see the marker's power sooner or later, but I didn't care. Speaking of which, I was a bit curious to see how the marker would react when that particular rule was broken.
The rope came to life and cycled through the cars. After twisting the rope in the air for several minutes, it finally aimed for the third Kira. I thought he would be caught by one of the two levers, but it got tightened around his waist. He let out a groan of pain.
I started pulling him as hard as I could. He was so heavy the rope bruised my hands. Nonetheless, I felt satisfied we would finally learn the whole truth about Kira.
"Don't pull me! Let me go!! Don't pull me, for fuck's sake! I have nothing to do with Kira!" he shouted while trying to hold on to the bike. He probably realized he was being pulled over by a member of the police.
All of a sudden though, I realized the whole bike was shaking. The marker had given off a blinding light. I tried to fully understand what was happening but still kept pulling over. Before I could react, my whole body got thrown hard into some pillars next to the highway. From that point on, I don't remember much... All I can remember is that my head smashed like a watermelon on the asphalt, and lost consciousness...
