Carter and the other Eagle Spaceships placed the explosives in the allocated spots.
"Eagle one to Alpha, just finished placement of detonators." Carter said over the radio.
"Good work Carter, now return to base. We've only got 15 Minutes left." Said John Koenig over on the radio.
All the Eagles headed back after placing all of their explosives.
John Koenig turned on the Moonbase wide intercom, everyone listened to his announcement.
"Attention all personal, in exactly 2 Minutes from now, the detonators will go off and we will be caught by the planet's gravitational pull and sling shot away from the sun.
Now there may be a slight feeling of G-Forces so I want everyone to be prepared and brace your selves and anything loose items.
The detonation timer will be shown on all communication posts and comlinks, they will be turned off 30 seconds before detonation to prevent further damages to the systems.
We only have one shot at this so I want to wish you all good luck, and hope to God that we survive this.
Koenig out."
The view screen cut out and the timer began.
One and a half minutes later, David Kano the computer operations officer shut off the computer systems as he prepared for the impact.
John looked at his watch as the seconds passed by.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
At the final second, he pushed the detonation button and scurried under the table.
Bang, Boom, Crash.
A large explosion as big as the time the Moon left Earth's Orbit appeared and the moon was slowing down quickly, too quickly, much faster then Victor Bergman's or the Computer's calculations, as unbeknownst to them there were much powerful forces about, pulling to moon towards the planet.
Personal were thrown about along with books, pencil, papers, office equipment and other tings that once on tables.
After the moon slowed down and the forced stabilized, most of the inhabitant recovered from the shock.
John went to Victor as David rebooted the computers.
"Victor we made it, it worked, we're alive!" John said.
"Yes though it seams that way." Victor Replied.
"Ow, Ugh." Said Helena "That felt like someone just hit the handbrakes of a moving truck."
"Yes I admit," said victor "That force felt a lot harder then I though it would be." He then turned over to David "David when you're done with the Diagnostics, could you get the computer to calculate our new trajectory."
"Sure thing Professor." David said.
John looked out of the base's windows.
"Will you look at that." He said looking out at the planet.
The others followed.
"It almost looks like earth." One of them said.
"Commander, the diagnostics show 0% faults, all systems are fully functional.
"That's great David, let's get our trajectory calculated."
David punched in the data required for the calculations.
The computer's solid state systems whirled into life as it calculated the moon's new trajectory, but it wasn't what they were expecting.
"The computer is ready with the results sir." Said David.
"Good, put it on the screen" the Commander said.
(The command centre's screen showed the results.)
(It showed three circles, the Moon, The Planet, and the Planet's own moon.)
It then slowly began drawing a curve)
"Hmm it's looking normal so far." Victor said.
Then the curve on the screen went into semi circle, then everyone was looking concerned until the line came back on the moon and at that point the computer spoke "Trajectory calculated, Orbit encounter confirmed! Orbital degrade, Zero. Permanent Orbit confirmed."
(Everyone's faces went into shock)
