Adrien woke with a smile that would rival the sun. Today was his birthday! "Good morning, Plagg!" Adrien sang, as he got out of bed. "Its a special day, isn't it?" His Kwami looked at him before biting into a wheel of cheddar. "Adrien, any day is special when I get to eat cheese." Adrien shrugged. Plagg tended to be more grumpy in the morning, and Adrien let it go.

Adrien dressed and hurried out the door without breakfast. Surely, Marinette had picked up a birthday treat from Starbucks this morning. Everyone was huddled around Marinette when he stepped inside the classroom, but he didn't mind. There was a Starbucks cup sitting at his desk. Good, Marinette hadn't forgotten after all!

"Oh, love! That's my drink!" Marinette broke off what she was saying, and took the cup out of his hands. "You didn't get me any?" Adrien tried not to pout. "What are you always telling me? Oh, yeah. The early bird gets the worm, and in your case coffee?" "I hope its delicious," Adrien slumped down in his seat, stomach growling. He took out his phone to see how many hours there were till lunch. He accidentally clicked on the camera feature and Adrien did a double take.

"Marinette, I don't look like a pop-tart do I?" Oh, why had he choose this sweater the color of oatmeal and dots that looked like confetti? He was hideous. Marinette was about to answer, but then the bell rang.

Why isn't anyone saying happy birthday? Adrien wondered. Was there a time controlling akuma somewhere?

Adrien gobbled down his lunch, for he knew his birthday cupcake from the lunch ladies would be coming soon. But just then he got a text for a impromptu photo shoot. Adrien growled beneath his breath, this was turning into a very UN-birthday.

Thank goodness it was a very short shoot, and Adrien texted Marinette from the car.

Adrien: Hey, can I come over?

Marinette: Of course!

Adrien smiled and pumped the air. But there were no balloons, no streamers…. And Marinette seemed distracted. "Hey, let's take a walk to the park. Maybe we'll see Andre." Well, at least I could get some ice cream….

Adrien felt a little better after Marinette took his hand, and he smiled at his girlfriend. She's so pretty, he thought, not paying attention…

"Surprise! Happy Birthday, Adrien!" Adrien gasped. They remembered! They actually remembered! "I felt horrible not saying anything," Marinette placed a Starbucks cup in his hand. "But that would have ruined the surprise."

"Its okay. Now let's party!" Nino was the DJ and there was no way Adrien wasn't dancing to every one! He did spend some time eating cake and opening presents.

But the best of night was slow dancing with Marinette. "I don't need presents, or even cake," he whispered. "Should I put that on the planning list for next year?" Marinette laughed. "Cake and presents are great, but all I need is you, Marinette." Then he leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips. "Yep, better then cake. But keep it on there, okay?"

Marinete nodded, pulling Adrien into the hug. "Happy Birthday, my love."
