Chapter 3
Nova
"No no no," A dragon growled from behind a table. "You were supposed to take the jewels from this part of town."
"I.. I'm sorry." the dragon in front of her cowered.
"You have cost me more time than I care to spend." She slammed her talons down and flicked her tail.
"Wait. Wait please. No." The dragon begged as two others came to drag him away.
She growled loudly. "Omen,"
"Yes Nova?" a brown stone colored dragon came.
"Send word for Goliath." she rumbled.
"Are you sure?" He questioned. "You only bring them in case of an emergency."
"This is an emergency." She bellowed. "Because of Foliat, I have lost all of the revenue I was going to get from these." she pointed to the map on the table. "I mean do you see what he brought me?"
Omen looked at the table. "Wasn't it his first day?"
Nova gave a hmf. "If he wanted to work in this line of business he should have come prepared."
"Boss," a dragon came through panting.
"What is it?" she snapped.
"I just got news," he gasped. "King Alistar is on his way here."
"Now?" she roared. "What does that tail smasher want?"
"He says he has some things to trade in." the worker said.
"Get things ready then," she waved a talon. "Tell the workers to be in full motion. Empty out the market for the new batch coming in." The worker nodded and ran off obeying her command.
"Do you still want Goliath?" Omen asked.
"Yes Send for them." she nodded.
Omen went away doing just that leaving Nova alone with her thoughts. She looked at the map scowling at it. All the places she had told Foliat to hit were not hit. Goliath would have to make sure to beat down the place before moving on to the next one.
As she sat writing she heard wingbeats out the windows. She got up composing herself, ready to make a deal with the sly king. She called for Omen to come with her seeing as he was her first in command. She opened the door seeing the King of the Silverwings. His talons were encrusted with dried blood.
"Having fun?" she said smoothly looking at his claws.
He held one up. "Just a little."
"I heard you have something of value for me to sell." Nova got to the task at hand.
"I do," he smiled. "A few dragons died and I didn't want their valuables to go untouched."
"Please, come in then." she moved to the side allowing them in.
"Thank you." he strolled in with three guards, just enough to fill the room. "I figured I'd sell them to my favorite Black Market dealer for a. Good price."
She rolled her eyes at him. "We all know I'm not your favorite. Just one who will bargain for a higher price you hold."
"Fair enough." he shrugged, He waved a talon and one of the guards emptied out a bag onto the table.
Nova moved to the table looking over it all. "Where did you get this all from?" she said looking at a necklace.
"The town of Colithiant," he said in a matter of fact voice. "I was chasing down a fugitive."
"Hmm." she simply replied.
"That is something else I would like to talk with you about too," he mused.
"What else could you possibly want?" she growled.
"Help catching her," he slithered over to her.
"Why would I do that?" she scoffed.
"Because," he smiled. "You wouldn't want Queen Extinction to know about your market now, would you?"
She hissed slightly. "I better be getting paid for this."
"Oh believe me. You will." he nodded.
"Who do you need, dead or alive?" she asked, sitting down.
"The former Princess Asha," he said calmly. "I need her alive."
Nova eyed him for a minute. "I can do that."
"Great." he jumped suddenly. "Oh and how much for this cache?" he said pointing to the table.
"32 gold," she said back.
"Make it 35," he said coolly.
She growled then nodded. "Give him his coin." she said to Omen. He fumbled around in the coin pouch he always carried. He pulled out the 35 gold coins and handed it slowly over to the Silverwing.
"Thank you for your business." Alistar walked out without another word.
Nova waited until she heard their wingbeats before growling loudly. "If he wasn't royalty I'd bite his head off."
"Nova," Omen came next to her. "Who do you want me to send for Princess Asha?"
Nova thought for a moment. "Send Goliath. They've had experience with things like this before."
"Of course." he was about to walk away. "Do you still want me to tell them about the raids?"
"No," she shook her head. "I'll tell them once they finish with Asha."
"Alright." At that Omen walked away around a corner. Nova slouched with no one around her to see her deflate. Dealing with Alistar always made her in a sour mood. She looked over the jewels and meaning less items she had gotten for Alistar. Little trinkets that would sell for 3 silver at the most. But some of it could go for much more.
She stood up and looked out the window into the dark sky. Several dragons flew around. One hovering in midair. Its four wings holding it up. A second later it flew away with one set. Nova opened her second pair of wings. She sighed as she closed them up and looked back at the sky. Most dragons in her tribe were scarred, but not as much as her.
