First, The Mysterious Burning Rock
Later that day, Sedimentary did start thinking right away. "All right!" he said at last, startling Maud Pie. "What are you talking about?" Maud Pie asked, curiously.
"I wanted to take you some place exciting," Sedimentary explained, "But right now, I'm trying." "It's okay," Maud Pie said in response, "You don't need to worry."
"All right, Sedimentary said in response, "I'll try and calm down." "That's good to know," Maud Pie went on, "And Boulder agreed." "Okay," Sedimentary agreed, "And I know what we're not going to do. All right, we won't go there again."
"Okay?" Maud Pie replied, puzzled, but decided not to question it further. "Good, now let's go," Sedimentary said at last.
After a few minutes of walking, both ponies came across an open field. "Well, this is an open field," Sedimentary said. "Yes," Maud Pie agreed. The two ponies scanned the field. "Nothing here," Sedimentary said, "Other than a black object. "What?" Maud Pie asked.
Both ponies noticed a slick, black rock in the middle of the field. They both approached the rock slowly. "What the heck is this? Sedimentary asked. "It is more than just a rock," Maud Pie answered. "Let me take a look," Sedimentary said as he examined the big rock.
"It looks slick," he said. "Okay?" Maud Pie asked, question what Sedimentary had said. "I've heard it's something called an oil shale," Sedimentary explained, "It's coated in oil. I've heard that there are rumors."
"So?" Maud Pie asked, curious. "It's just a rumor," Sedimentary concluded, backing away from the rock, "I don't really know what this is all about." "All right," Maud Pie said and she prepared to go.
But just as the two ponies turned to leave, there was a bright flash behind them. "The boulder is on fire," Sedimentary exclaimed, "Look back!"
Both Maud Pie and Sedimentary watched at the mysterious rock is now in flames.
"This is the mythical burning rock," Maud Pie said, "It randomly burst into flames. Like what we've just saw. No pony could ever explain how this happens." "I agree," Sedimentary agreed, "So it's nothing too serious."
"Yes," Maud Pie answered, "This is normal." "Okay," Sedimentary agreed, "So, let's continued on." "Boulder agreed," Maud Pie said in response and both ponies turned to leave as the mysterious rock suddenly extinguished itself.
No pony had ever explained how that was ever possible.
