"It's been... A long while." The first Elden Lord softly spoke. "Morgot."
The giant let go of the Omen, giving them both some space.
Morgot was quick to cover his face with the hoodie once again. "Father. How didst thou end up in here?"
"I was bested in battle, at the foot of the great tree."
The Omen reactively took a step back. "What? Was it that tarnished?" Godfrey nodded somberly. "T'was nobly fought, alas, I was bested in the end."
Morgot expression shifted from one filled with confusion to now one filled with anger. "I- I take responsibility for the Tarnished's actions, It was I who failed to extinguish his flame."
Thankfully, instead of showing no remorse, Godfrey showed him a warm smile. "All is right. He was truly stronger than both of us, I won't be dissatisfied at such an end."
Amber felt somewhat out of place while watching the two exude such a happy yet tragic feel in their interaction.
"Ah, I almost forgot." Morgot turned to Amber and extended his arm, motioning at Godfrey. "Young Amber, this is Godfrey, the First Elden Lord and my father." Godfrey simply nodded. "Father, this is Amber, a knight of sorts. She helped me when I first arrived in the strange land. Her skill with the bow is only matched by her kindness."
The young outrider couldn't help but blush at the comment, instinctively scratching the back of her head trying not to look so awkward, but still stuttering. "Y-You shouldn't praise me that much... I was simply doing my job as a Knight of Favonious."
The first Elden Lord took another glance at the girl, first dismissing her like a small girl who happened to be helped by Morgot, but now, he observed everything about her to her most minuscule details, only since she called herself a knight.
"Though I disagree with thy attire choice, I shall grammercy for looking after mine son." The giant said, offering a handshake to the girl.
Amber couldn't help but notice that his opened hand easily dwarfed her entire arm, but she didn't feel intimidated by it, shaking his hand firmly. "Why don't we sit down and talk about what's going to happen next?"
Godfrey and Morgot accepted her offering and went back to Good Hunter.
After ordering a handful of special dishes, courtesy of Morgot of course, Godfrey sat on the ground next to the table he originally sat, with his son and Amber in front of him. The silence was deafening. There were about a million questions the first Elden Lord wanted to ask his son after such a long time, but none felt appropriate for the occasion. Glancing at the woman next to Morgot, a single question appeared in his mind, though it was yet another one he couldn't ask due to the awkwardness of the situation.
Once the dishes arrived, Godfrey stared in awe at the amount and quality of the food presented to him. And then the smell hit him. Oh boy, that tender yet beckoning fragrance, the sweet tastefulness of it. He ordered a Golden Crab, and even if he didn't hold many expectations of it, he was somewhat disappointed when the crab delivered to him wasn't the size of a straight sword. However, the combination of the taste, smell, and texture of the bloody thing more than made up for it, not to mention the presentation. It was after that first bite of the crab's claw, it was then that Godfrey realized that there was more to food than flavor and amount.
He was in complete bliss. It was almost as if his tongue had re-discovered his taste buds.
Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but it sure as hell felt like it.
Quickly gathering himself from melting into the deliciousness of the crab, Godfrey took a glass of water with extreme care, so as to not break it under his grip, briefly sipping on it, and letting out a satisfied sigh.
Seeing it as the perfect opportunity to re-ignite the conversation, the first Elden Lord spoke the first that came to mind.
"So, tell me your intentions with mine son, Amber."
Morgot reacted violently and suddenly, spitting his wine in a stream of red to the side, as Amber took a few seconds to process Godfrey's question.
"Father! Have some decency!" Morgot blurted out, earning the looks of everyone passing through the main road.
Amber's face adopted the same color as her attire, trying profusely not to break her poker face.
"What? I be merely concerned for mine son's well-being." Godfrey shrugged, unmoving.
The poor girl looked at Morgot searching for an answer, but when she found none, she glared directly at the inescapable abyss that was Godfrey's stare. And so she broke under his immovable gaze. "I-I was just helping him out, I swear there are no ulterior motives sir!"
Godfrey huffed, dissatisfied. "A young woman such as yourself wouldn't help an omen e'en if their life depended on it."
The young outrider recoiled back into her seat, but she remained steadfast. "You s-see, Mister Godfrey, Uncle Morgot over there helped me with a Geo Lawachurl that appeared in a random camp a while back... He just appeared out of nowhere with a giant golden hammer and killed it almost single-handedly!" She tried to remain as calm as possible under Godfrey's imposing gaze. "S-so, at the end of the day, I'm not only repaying him, but I am also doing my job as a Knight of F-Favonious."
The first Elden Lord kept staring at her, quickly taking another bite off of his Golden Crab. "Well..." He then turned to Morgot, who was on the verge of punching a hole in the wooden table. "What is thy opinion Morgot?"
The Last of all Kings, however, was not happy in the slightest but decided not to show it further." She is mine companion," Morgot said, calmly sipping on his red wine. "Even if we share the same roof."
Now it was Godfrey's turn to burst into outrage. 'Mine son? The blood mine blood, sharing a house with this...' He glanced over at Amber once again, seeming to calm down when noticing how happy Morgot seemed. "Good." He simply said, taking the third and final bite off of his Golden Crab. 'If it be his will, so be it.'
"I think we're giving him the wrong idea uncle..." Amber tried to reason, sensing conflicting emotions through Godfrey's words.
"Bah! Nonsense! Godfrey is known not only for his immense strength but also for his intellect." Morgot blurted out, trying to fit himself into the small wooden chair. "I am too old for romance, it is obvious that our relationship is teacher and student."
Godfrey remained silent, trying not to reveal that he assumed the worse, quickly downing the rest of the water in his cup. "So! it hath been great, yet I hast to hie now."
"Where Father? It has been so long since we last met and now thou just wish to leave?" Morgot asked as sorrow filled his being. "Thou see, there is a cooking competition a week from now, and I promised myself to become a judge 'i decree to taste the meetest this land hath to offer."
Amber quickly perked up after hearing that. "Oh! Do you mean the cooking showdown in Liyue Harbor? The one where Chef Xiangling and Chef Yanxiao will face off against each other?" Though Godfrey did not know who this 'Xiangling' or this 'Yanxiao' was, he nodded his head. "I initially DID plan on going there, but I have so much work to do..." She trailed off. "But, if you plan on becoming one of the judges... You are going to have to pull something out of your butt as Lumine did."
Godfrey then approached the young girl, he would be on the edge of his seat if it didn't break under his weight. "Who this Lumine thou speak of?"
"Oh, you know, she's a bit of a local celebrity after saving Mondstadt from the dragon Dvalin." She said, feeling somewhat proud of that fact.
"What doth it hast to do with the competition?" Godfrey asked, pushing the girl for as much information as he could.
Amber recoiled back from his imposing presence. "Well, for starters, she's friends with Xiangling and even Nigguang herself. So she has contact with both one of the judges, who is in charge of the whole event, and one of the chefs... So she most likely will be involved with it."
Godfrey pondered for a moment. It was true, the easiest route toward his goal was to meet with this 'Lumine' and somehow negotiate his way into one of the seats. "Would I win against her 'i gladiatorial combat, doth thou think I hast a chance of becoming one of the judges?"
Amber shrugged. "Dunno. And I have no idea if you would actually win against her in a..." Before she could finish her sentence, Godfrey had already stood up as a golden hue shined in his eyes.
"It is settled." He interrupted her. "I shall travel to the land known as Liyue Harbor and challenge Lumine. Hand me a map."
Morgot sighed but relented. "If it be thine wish father, so be it. Know that I cannot leave with thee." But Godfrey nodded without an ounce of hesitation. "May we meet again, son." Morgot tried to protest, but couldn't find the correct words to say, so he simply nodded.
Amber shuffled through her fanny pack, pulling out an odd-looking map. "Here's Teyvat's map! It may look incomplete right now, but you'll just have to fill it out by finding the Statues of the Seven." She then pointed at the markers on the map. "You can see that they are marked already, so you just have to go and explore!" He nodded, still trying to wrap his head around this weird creation. "Also, take this!" Amber then went to a billboard and took out a picture of a blonde girl. "This is Lumine, should you ever find her that is."
Godfrey took a moment to memorize the image. "Hmph. The wench barely has any muscle." He said, storing both the picture and the map in a pocket in her pants since it was all he wore.
As the trio made their way toward the edge of the Mondstadt, Godfrey turned around and bowed toward his son and Amber. "I thank thee for the marvelous dish and the help." He said with genuine happiness in his voice. "I thank thee for taking care of mine son." He then got close to Amber's ears and spoke in a soft voice. "You have mine blessing." Forcing the girl's face to turn red for the second time today. He then began to laugh loudly, further embarrassing the girl as Morgot watched in bewilderment. "Ah. I jest, think nothing of this old fool."
Godfrey then turned to Morgot, and pulled his hoodie out of his face, showing the Last King's horns and hairy face. "There. Be not afraid of thine self."
Morgot instinctively pulled his hoodie over his head, but Godfrey didn't let him. "Hear ye. Thou art blood of mine blood, mine own son. Thou art the son of Godfrey and Marika the eternal. Second of the golden lineage along with thine brother. You have nothing to hide, even if thou thinks it ugly." Morgot nodded in response, as he was at a loss for words.
"Know this, Morgot. I am proud of thee, I hath seen Leyndell after Marika's disappearance and it did not disappoint." Godfrey smiled a warm smile. "Thou art a true born heir, Morgot."
Before he could even respond to that, Godfrey immediately began sprinting towards the nearest Statue of the Seven that wasn't the one inside of the city of Mondstadt.
"In truth Morgot, this old man would only set thee back. Live thine own life, without this fool holding unto thee." He muttered under his breath as he distanced himself as much as he could. He knew that if he prolonged the conversation further, Morgot wouldn't let him go.
"Now, where is that Statue?"
A/N: Uh... H-Hi! Umm, this was supposed to be a joke fic... A little silly thing to blow out some steam... But turns out this became even more famous than my actual fic in just a week! Thanks yall!
I would also like to apologize for the lack of posts. It's been a ROUGH year for lil' ol' me, there's just so much work, too much work to be done. Committing to commitments and that sort of thing. So here's your Christmas present!
please don't1: I wouldn't say all Omens deserve love, BUUUUUT... Morgot is the best boy, fight me.
Philbert: It was, but it do be like that sometimes. That segment is kind of my fault for not describing it right. Think of it like Morgot at the door of a manhole with a plate in his hands, offering it to Godfrey. Yes, Lumine's here. Currently, she's on Liyue Harbor dealing with a certain harbinger's shenanigans... It just so happened that Amber found Morgot and Lumine around the same time. And I currently have no plans of adding Mogh, though it could change at will.
Agamveer: That's the plan, to keep it as wholesome as possible! Though it's inevitable, Godfrey will suplex someone eventually.
naufalrakha0204: As a wise man once said: LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Morality is a Spook: And I fucking love you.
