AN: Hi! Here's a dumb story I wrote to take my mind off of the angst for a while.
I really just wanted to write a fic focusing on a scenario where the Red Team can hang out and be friends.

The gentle light of the morning sun illuminated the rooms of Luna Nova.

This was a particularly sleepy Saturday morning, and not many of the students felt like doing much of anything. The prior week had been full of exams and assignment due dates, and most of the students just wanted to take it easy after all of that.

The Red Team was no exception. Lotte sat at the desk in their dorm, idly sketching the view from outside their window, while Sucy had her head buried in a book about dangerous monsters. Meanwhile, Akko was lying down in her bed, staring at the bottom of Lotte's bunk and bouncing her leg impatiently.

"Hey, guys?" she asked suddenly, getting the attention of her roommates. "Is this gonna be our entire day?"

"I'm pretty comfortable," Sucy said without looking up from her book.

Lotte turned to Akko. "Did you have something in mind?"

Akko sat up excitedly and almost banged her head on the top bunk, making Lotte wince.

"Why don't we go into the city? We've barely had any time to hang out with all those exams!"

"I wouldn't mind that," Lotte said with a smile. "It would be nice to get out a bit."

Both girls turned to their pale friend expectantly, and she finally met their gaze with that sleepy eye of hers.

"You two won't take 'no' for an answer, will you?"

"Nope!" Akko exclaimed proudly. "Now get ready, we're going out!"

The trio touched down in the Leyline terminal at Blytonbury and emerged to the very familiar sight of old-styled buildings and a bustling crowd.

As the town drew nearer, the sounds of the public began to increase in volume. Being a weekend, it looked like everyone was out on the town enjoying the fresh air and warm sunshine.

"Ah, Blytonbury…" Akko sighed. "It's been forever!"

They finally reached the brick pavement making up the city's streets and stopped to decide their next move. Akko turned to her friends with a huge smile on her face.

"So, what do you guys wanna do first?" she asked. "Go shopping? Have some food?"

Lotte laughed a little nervously. "Um, it's up to you guys! I don't mind."

"I need caffeine," Sucy uttered, looking absolutely wiped. Akko's eyes lit up and she started making a beeline towards a cafe they would always pass, but never stopped to visit. Shrugging, Lotte and Sucy followed after her.

The three of them gathered round and stood in the line, which was moving rather slowly.

"So, who's paying?" Sucy queried, turning to her friends.

"Oh, I just assumed we were paying for ourselves," Lotte replied, and Akko suddenly had a determined look on her face.

"Are you guys kidding? I'm treating you today!"

Sucy just snickered. "You and what money?"

"Hey!" Akko exclaimed, looking offended. "I've been saving a lot lately!"

She pulled out her wallet and opened it up before grimacing. Still, she was determined to foot all of their bills, and eventually, they finally made it to the counter.

"Good morning, girls," the barista said politely. "What can I get you?"

Akko ordered an iced mocha with whipped cream, while Sucy simply requested a black coffee. They then turned to Lotte.

"U-Um, can I please have a vanilla latte… with lactose-free milk… and the milk can't be too frothy… and it needs to be heated to a specific temperature…"

As more dietary requirements came, she began to stumble over her words even more. Though Sucy didn't show it, she felt bad that she couldn't remember what Lotte could and couldn't consume.

"S-Sorry, sir!" Akko finally interjected, before perfectly relaying Lotte's order and every specific detail. The barista furiously scribbled notes and crossed things out as she did, and Lotte turned to Akko with a look of immense relief.

Once Akko paid, they stood to the side and waited for their drinks.

"T-Thanks, Akko…" Lotte mumbled sheepishly, and Sucy echoed the sentiment silently with a nod of gratitude towards Akko.

"No problem!" she replied cheerfully. "I wonder if this place is any good."

The cafe looked rather cosy. Some tables and chairs were set up, though the small size didn't allow for too many people to sit. Most people who ordered here just took their drinks with them anyway, and Akko and her friends intended to do the same.

After some time, the barista placed three cups on the counter next to them. After collecting their drinks, the trio thanked him and they began to head off.

"Hey, I've seen Diana holding a cup like yours!" she exclaimed, pointing to Lotte and Sucy's hot coffee cups. Her own cup was clear plastic, since she'd ordered an iced beverage.

"There's their celebrity endorsement," Sucy quipped. She removed the lid from her cup and poured something green into the coffee from a flask, before taking a slow sip and sighing contentedly.

Lotte blew into her drink and took a sip before her eyes widened. Akko and Sucy looked at her in confusion as she let out a yelp.

"It's…"

"It's what?" Akko asked, a little nervous.

"IT'S SO HOT!"

WIth coffees in hand, the trio waded through the crowd as they looked around for something interesting to do. The opportunity would soon present itself in the form of a clothing store, and Akko excitedly guided her friends there.

"Clothes shopping?" Sucy grumbled. "Don't we have metamorphosis magic for that?"

"Oh, Sucy, Sucy…" Akko responded with an air of superiority. "You don't know the joy of trying on outfits you'll never wear!"

Lotte began to search the racks with interest, and Akko joined in. As they searched, both of their hands landed on the same garment, a flashy-looking pink dress. They removed it from its hanger and glanced over at Sucy, who was standing by the entrance, looking very bored.

"Oh, Sucy!" Akko called, heading to her friend as Lotte hid the dress behind her back. "We found something for you!"

Hesitantly, Sucy approached them, but stopped in her tracks as soon as Lotte revealed the garment.

"NO," she said firmly.

"C'mon!" Akko pleaded. "You'd look so cute!"

"Well, if she doesn't want to, we can't make her…" Lotte mused, but Akko wasn't giving up. She gave Sucy her biggest, sparkliest pleading gaze, and Sucy groaned.

"Okay. Fine. If it'll shut you up. But if anyone else sees me, you're both dead."

"Both of us?!" Lotte exclaimed as Akko grabbed both of them by the wrists and dragged them to the changing rooms. Sucy reluctantly disappeared into one for a while as the other two waited outside for her.

When she finally emerged, Akko's squeal of delight could have shattered glass.

"OH MY GOD, SUCY!" she exclaimed. "YOU'RE ADORABLE!"

Sucy stood very awkwardly with her arms folded.

"The colours actually really work on you!" Lotte observed. "The trim compliments your hair!"

Grunting in response, Sucy put a hand over her face and looked away to hide the fact that she was blushing.

"Are you two done?" she mumbled.

A tapping on a nearby window alerted the trio to the presence of somebody outside. To Sucy's horror, Amanda and her friends floated by on their brooms, each giving her a thumbs up as they passed.

Sucy turned back to Akko and Lotte with a menacing, sharp-toothed grin as the two began to laugh nervously.

The trio sat on a bench, taking in the sunshine. They had finished their drinks by now, and Sucy was back in her usual Luna Nova uniform.

"I always wondered about that," Akko remarked, continuing the conversation they were having. "Do performers have a plan for their shows, or do they just get up there and freestyle?"

"You need to rehearse, Akko," Lotte pointed out. "You can't just get up on stage and do whatever you want. What if something goes wrong?"

"Well, you improvise a solution! That makes it more fun to watch!"

"You could really hurt yourself! I'm sure even Chariot planned her shows!"

"Akko could pull it off," Sucy interjected flatly, earning her a confused stare from Lotte. "She's been improvising this whole time."

"Aww, thanks- HEY!" Akko exclaimed, and Sucy snickered at her.

The sun slowly made its way up, and soon enough, Akko turned to her friends with a pained expression.

"I'm starving! Can we go eat something?"

"I'm not hungry," Sucy said. Lotte, however, agreed with Akko.

"Then it's settled!" Akko stated. "It's lunch time!"

"Oooh, can we go to a nice restaurant?" Lotte queried, her eyes wide. Akko opened her wallet again and laughed sheepishly.

"Uh… let's just get fast food this time."

A bored-looking cashier took their orders. It took some time to reach the front of the line, since it seemed like everyone else was having lunch at that moment, as well.

Lotte got herself a wrap, while Sucy just bought a soda. When it was Akko's turn, she ordered a burger meal, but began to scrounge around her wallet nervously.

Noticing this, Sucy slouched over to her and dumped the required funds on the counter.

"S-Sucy…" Akko uttered, seemingly overwhelmed by the gesture.

"You're holding up the line."

She gave Akko a sly smirk and headed back over to Lotte. Akko joined them shortly after as they waited for their orders.

"Ugh, can't they hurry up?" she complained. "I'm gonna faint!"

Sucy craned her neck to try and get a look into the kitchen. "I wonder if they have any mushrooms growing in there."

"Ew, Sucy!" Lotte exclaimed.

"What? Didn't you hear about that place with mold caked in the ice cream machines?"

Lotte looked to be turning green, so Sucy decided she'd stop there. Akko, however, seemed completely unfazed.

"Mmm… ice cream…"

After some time, two trays of food and a soda were placed in front of them, and they collected their orders and sat down at a table.

"It isn't pretty, but it's being with friends that matters," Lotte mused, smiling at her friends. Akko smiled back, but ruined the moment by tearing open her burger and eating it like a wild animal. Sucy took a casual sip of her drink and gave Lotte an appreciative nod.

"That isn't going anywhere, Akko," she remarked. Akko mumbled something in response, but her mouth was too full for anyone to understand what she said.

They sat for a while, eating and enjoying each other's company, and watching people go by. Being witches, they received a few weird looks from the public, but at this point, they were used to it. It wasn't every day that a trio of witches walked into a fast food restaurant, after all.

With a contented sigh, Akko sat back and pushed her tray forward a little. However, her eyes suddenly became very wide, and she turned pale.

"Akko?" Lotte asked. "Everything okay?"

Responding only with a pained groan, Akko practically vaulted over the table and ran into the bathroom, slamming the door.

"Sucy, what did you do to her food?!" Lotte demanded, and Sucy threw her hands up.

"Hey, that wasn't me this time!"

The three of them continued walking Blytonbury's streets. Lotte had an arm around Akko's shoulders, supporting her as she trudged along with a hand clutching her stomach.

"Are you sure you don't want to go home?" Lotte asked her tenderly. Akko just shook her head.

"N-No, I'll be alright."

"Sucy, don't you have any potions to cure an upset stomach?"

Sucy nodded and began rooting around inside her vest. "Sure, I have laxatives right here-"

"I'll pass!" Akko said frantically.

"Your funeral," Sucy muttered, shrugging lazily. It didn't matter, anyway, since Akko's demeanour shifted completely when her eyes hit a particular store.

"We gotta go in there!" she exclaimed, and before Lotte or Sucy could ask why, they were being dragged along.

This appeared to be a store selling second-hand goods. Books, clothing, CDs, electronics, and other random items lined the shelves in a setup that could only be described as looking like somebody's basement. Akko rushed over to the DVD section and began scanning the shelves as the other two watched her curiously.

"YES! It's here!"

"What is it?" Lotte asked her, and Akko turned around and thrust a plastic DVD case into their faces. Across the top was 'Shiny Chariot - Live Performances', and the titular witch was featured on the front, illustrated in a dynamic pose.

"It's a collection of professional recordings of Chariot's live shows from back in the day!" Akko gushed. "I think the Japan show I went to might be in here!"

She clutched the case tight, as if expecting somebody to steal it from her. Meanwhile, Lotte was drawn to the bookshelf, looking for anything that might catch her eye. All of the books looked very old, with yellowed pages and heavily creased spines, and some had random scribblings on them from previous owners.

Akko trotted over to see what Lotte was up to before checking the books out for herself.

"Hey, look at this!" she observed, pulling one off of the shelf. "It says 'Annabel Creme'."

"It says WHAT?!"

Lotte's eyes widened as Akko handed her the book. She looked it over and looked like she was going to faint.

"Oh, my gosh… it's the forbidden Edgar love story…" Lotte flipped through the pages and sighed. "The ninth Annabel Creme wrote this. It's really grotesque, and any mention of it was completely scrubbed from the records. I thought I'd never find this anywhere…"

"I'm glad you found something here, too!" Akko chirped. "What about you, Sucy?"

Sucy was idly staring at the video games, not really paying attention. Some of them were readily available on a shelf, while the more expensive ones were locked in a glass cabinet behind the counter.

"These all suck," she grumbled. "Shitty movie tie-ins and sports games."

"I guess people wouldn't sell the actually good stuff," Akko remarked, and Sucy nodded in agreement.

"Yeah. But I wonder if this one's any good."

From the shelf, she grabbed a game titled 'Apkallu 2 1/2' and looked it over.

"Hmm. I could try this with Constanze later."

With all three of them having found something at this store, they decided to call it a visit and pay for their items.

As the day progressed, the crowds began to thin out a little bit. The Red Team continued walking around, looking for something else to do before calling it a day.

"Let's go to a pub," Sucy suggested.

"We're underage!" Lotte pointed out. "They'll kick us out!"

"That hasn't stopped Amanda before."

"Man, there really isn't a lot to do here, is there?" Akko complained as they passed several storefronts that didn't interest any of them.

Lotte turned to the others. "Why don't we just go back? We've had a good day."

"NO!" Akko exclaimed. "We've gotta do one more thing here!"

"Let's reanimate another dead body," Sucy said with a smirk, but Akko and Lotte both fervently declined. "You two are no fun," she grumbled in response.

All of a sudden, a gasp from Akko made the other two stop.

"Guys… I've found it!"

Lotte and Sucy followed her gaze and saw what looked like a karaoke place with a neon sign.

"A-Are you sure?" Lotte said nervously.

"Of course! I can't wait to hear what Sucy's singing voice sounds like!"

Sucy scoffed. "Over my dead body."

The trio entered the building and booked a room for a couple of hours. It wasn't too busy, in fact a lot of the rooms were vacant. It was dimly lit, with the glow of neon providing a night-like atmosphere despite it not even being the evening yet.

Once they reached their room, Akko immediately scrambled over to the touchscreen and began furiously tapping away. Lotte and Sucy looked at each other as Akko grabbed one of the microphones and a peppy song began to play.

"This is the theme from my favourite anime!" she declared, her voice booming through the microphone. "You guys ready?"

The vocals kicked in, and Akko began to sing. Unfortunately for her friends, it wasn't very good. Once the song was over, it took Lotte and Sucy a moment to snap back to reality.

"I've practised that one a bunch," Akko gloated. Sucy raised an eyebrow.

"Do you always practise it while doing an impression of the mushroom guy from Super Whatever?"

"SUCY!" Lotte scolded her. "L-Let's move on, I'll go next!"

She made her way over to the touchscreen and started typing. To her surprise, they had the song she was after, and it started playing.

"This was a big hit in Finland," she remarked. "My parents played it all the time when I was a kid."

To nobody's surprise, her singing voice was very pleasant. They were all familiar with it, after all, since they'd heard her sing her spirit song before.

Once she was done, she and Akko eagerly turned to Sucy.

"What?"

"It's your turn!" Akko said excitedly.

Sucy shook her head. "Nope."

"C'mon, you're already here! We won't tell anybody if you suck."

"Don't give me the look- you're giving me the look. Alright. Fine."

Reluctantly, she crouched over by the touchscreen and, after thinking for a moment, typed something in.

"My caregiver used to watch this stupid soap opera, and this is the theme song. It's burned into my brain."

The song began, and Sucy started to sing. Akko and Lotte were absolutely caught off guard - she had a very sweet singing voice despite how raspy she usually sounded. Their gazes on Sucy caused her to get nervous, so she just closed her eyes and kept going.

Once she was done, her friends looked really excited.

"Sucy, that was amazing!" Lotte exclaimed.

Akko echoed her sentiment. "I had no idea you could sing like that!"

All of this praise made Sucy blush again, and she hoped the dark room would hide it from the others.

"Shut up," she grumbled, covering her face to hide a small grin she couldn't contain. She placed the microphone on the table and took a sip of water to calm her nerves.

They continued singing songs, laughing, and joking with each other before a staff member arrived to tell them their time was up. By this point they were all pretty tired, and unanimously agreed that it was about time they began heading back to Luna Nova.

Akko thrust the door to their dorm open and flopped onto her bed with an exhausted groan.

"That was so much fun!" Lotte said cheerfully. "Thanks for dragging us out, Akko!"

Though she didn't comment, Sucy seemed to be in a good mood. Akko continued lying down and almost fell asleep before somebody knocked on the door. Seeing that nobody else was going to, Lotte answered it and saw Diana, standing with her hands behind her back.

"Where have you three been?" she asked calmly. "Professor Finnelan has been looking for you all day, Akko."

Akko shot upright and, once again, narrowly avoided hitting her head on the bottom of Lotte's bunk.

"M-Me?!"

"Yes, unfortunately, she needs to speak with you in regards to your exams."

A muffled giggling from outside of the dorm shattered Diana's professional facade for a split second, and she turned to the hallway.

"She's gonna get expelled…!" sang the disembodied voices of Hannah and Barbara.

"I told you two to wait over there!" she hissed, shooing them back down the hall. Clearing her throat, she turned back to the Red Team.

"That will be all. Please meet her at your earliest convenience."

She shut the door and walked off, with another pair of footsteps audibly joining hers before becoming faint. Akko turned to her friends, looking a bit like a deer in headlights.
