Heart thumping and palms sweating, Harry tiptoed into the kitchen. The clock had just struck three past midnight. A child of six had no business staying up this late, but Harry had no choice. He was desperate for something to fill his stomach, having not eaten for four days due to a punishment for his 'freakishness.' Suddenly, the lights turned on, and Harry's heart sank. He turned around slowly, and just as he expected, Uncle Vernon stood there, his face purple with anger.
"Boy! What are you doing here?" he yelled as Harry flinched.
"Nothing," replied Harry in his shaky voice.
"Nothing? Nothing? I know what you were doing. About to steal, were you, right? I knew you were a no good thief, just like your freak parents. You are a freak! I knew we shouldn't have taken you in that day. All the trouble you have caused for us and you're still showing your ungratefulness by stealing from us."
As Vernon started to rant, he reached for the golf club lying in the corner and moved towards Harry, as if to beat out his 'freakishness' as usual. Harry, finding a surge of courage he didn't know he had, lunged to grab the golf club and wrestle it out of Vernon's hands, but he was no match for the giant man. His resistance seemed to make Vernon furious, and as he started to beat Harry, he used more force than usual. Harry felt blood start to trickle from his head but gritted his teeth in defiance, refusing to shout in pain.
Oh, how he wished this wretched home would burn down and grant him freedom from this prison. He knew he was a captive here, not allowed to flourish, and constantly treated poorly.
Suddenly, something inside him snapped. He felt a force swirling within him and, as it spread outward, he heard a yelp of pain from Vernon, who stumbled backward. Harry called on this mysterious energy and focused on his desires of freedom and destruction. With a loud bang, the house caught on fire, the flames rising. It didn't take long for the magical flames to consume the house. As the last of the flames disappeared, Harry Potter had vanished from the house, leaving no trace for anyone to find.
