You ever feel something strong, a sort of energy that made you think of power? That was what Kyle felt as he bumped into one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen before just before he entered the Dinning hall. She had blonde hair and a flawless frame, very effeminate and curvy. He stopped her from falling, his hands jolting with the strength of her presence.
"Sorry, Ma'am."
The girl turned, glaring, but stopped at the sight of Anastasia's presence "It's fine, just be more careful."
"Um,... can I ask, before you go, why do you feel so ... odd?"
Anastasia turned to him. "Odd?"
"I got this odd jolt of energy when we bumped into each other, a sort of thrum of power. Like a static shock mixed with a warm bath?"
The Priestess frowned, then beamed. "Are you aware of affinities?"
"A bit, blessings from your goddess?"
"I believe you may have one, but it may be too early to note it's fullness..."
He shook his head. "I don't think so, I have had these feelings for years. Not at strong as now, but... well, I started feeling them when I started studying magic and myths. I can feel places of power, like at the Busk tree... and I could feel the tracker, he felt cold and dark and really strong." He grabbed Anastasia's arm. "I get a sort of feeling off of you too, I was too nervous to sense it before. It is warm and earthy, sort of reminds me of spring. When I was younger I doubted it, but as I got older it just felt more real, to the point I could not deny it."
Her eyes went wide. "Perhaps you were becoming something of a hedge witch? In olden times, some humans manifested powers beyond their bloodlines. It is rare, and training can help. We will see... Kyle, we assign a mentor to each student. Due to your love of magic and myth, I will be yours."
He could not help but smile. "Thank you... and Miss, I am sorry again. My name is Kyle Right"
The girl nodded, and they shook arms as Vamps did. "Aphrodite." She was being nice for the Professor, but he knew there was a genuine curiosity in her eyes.
"Maybe we could be friends? I can tell you are really strong, I can feel it."
She nodded, hesitant. "I,... I guess." She actually started to smile as he beamed at her. He felt some of her thaw out, turning softer.
Turning to Anastasia, he asked. "So... where to now?"
"Actually... Aphrodite, would you be so kind as to give him the tour? I have something to attend to, mostly Kyle's paperwork. He is going to be Damien's roommate."
The girl sighed. "I could do that."
"Thank you, I will see you both later. Kyle, my office is always open to you." And she marched away, into the distance.
Aphrodite sighed again. "Come on, no point in wasting time." She led him inward, to where he saw a lot of very pretty fledglings. One in the corner stood out, a girl with defined marks and an aura of intense strength. It was to her that he was led, the others sneering at Aphrodite in a way he hated. "This... is Kyle." She said, her tone low and soft. "He is going to be your roommate, gay boy."
The girl with the defined marks had five people next to her. A stunningly handsome boy with a supermanish look. A black girl with the warmest presence and pretty face. Hext to her was another stunning blonde, with blue eyes and an air of strength. Another pretty girl, this time with curly hair that sort of reminded him of Anastasia only stronger, and finally a soft looking boy with doe eyes that lingered with sharpness.
That boy smiled. "Really? Nice to meet you... thank you, Aphrodite."
She sneered but he saw pain in her eyes, a lot of loneliness and pain buried. He had looked like that far too often to not recognize it in another. "Whatever, another nerd for you all. This is one is special too."
A bit hurt, Kyle grabbed her arm softly. "I'll see you later, Aphrodite?"
She actually recoiled for a moment, then nodded coldly. "If the Nerd Herds doesn't corrupt you too much." She twitched away, an air of sorrow oozing from her in a way he had felt so often before.
'If Nyx or anyone is listening, help her... Hecate, I always saw you as a patron, you seem all about choice. Maybe you can help her?' There was a pause before a listening essence seemed to wash over him. He hid his excitement, hoping it was in more than just his mind. Turning to the others, he smiled. "So, um... can I have your names? II'k Kyle Right."
They all nodded, the Marked girl spoke up first. "I'm Zoey Redbird, I uh... I am the Leader of the Dark Daughters, sort of a sorority mixed with a coven." She gestured to the girl haired girl. "This is my roommate, Stevie Rae."
"Howdy!" Stevie chirped and he felt her aura, it was strong.
"This are the Twins, which you'll get in a few minutes." Zoey gestured to the Black and White girls.
"Shaunie!" The black girl started.
"And Erin." The blonde finished.
"This is my boyfriend Erik Night." Zoey gestured to the stunning, supermanish boy, who smiled at him. " And this, finally, is your roommate Damien."
"Nice to meet you!"
Happily, he tipped his head to the side. "Your auras are all really potent."
Zoey smiled. "Oh, you have an affinity?"
"Oh, I don't think so. I just studied the craft for years, it is hard to get reliable stuff but at some point I picked up something I guess. After a while I started to get feelings about people. Vague ones, but they help. I know you're really powerful Zoey, as is Aphrodite. She is potent, but very sad."
The twins snorted. "She's a hag from hell!" They said as one.
"I won't pretend to know her well, but I know she is not happy. Regardless, I have a good feeling she needs a friend." And as he said that, something felt right. "Um... I'll see you later. I already ate... oh and Zoey... I already knew of the Dark Daughters. I would love to join, if only to learn more magic... and to help out where I can."
Zoey smiled. "I will see what I can do."
"Thank you. " He replied." Now, if that is all, I sort of want to see the campus more." Offering a slight bow, he turned and left... making his way to the temple of Nyx. Slipping in, he walked over to a brazier, pulled out a pocket knife and pricked his finger. Dripping blood into the fire, he muttered. "Hecate... I know Nyx is the Goddess here, but maybe you can still help me? With Aphrodite, but maybe me too? Selfishness cannot always be bad. I want a future, but I know that vamp culture is all about girl power and not much else. I want to matter... so maybe you can help me?" He asked, putting his knife away.
A sigh filled the air, and he stumbled back as light headedness filled him. The world swirled and he collapsed, falling not into darkness but out of his body and into a gray veil.
The next thing he saw was a woman, dressed in inky black robes made of shadows and souls. Her body was utter white, the color of marble, her face sculpted in such beauty that no mere mortal could have ever managed to replicate it. Her eyes were gold, the color of ichor.
"Hecate?" he muttered, and she nodded. "Why now, why only summon me now?" It was foolish to question a goddess, but he was peeved. "I have been begging, begging for years!"
She nodded. "Yes, but it was not time. Your body was not strong enough to tap into magic, the Mark has allowed you access. More so than strength, you have gained access to knowledge. Something mostly bared from you in the past. It was enough, just enough, to allow you to feel the flow of magic but nothing more. You must continue on your path, consume the knowledge you seek, only then will your rather large ambitions be realized... now go but do not reveal my interference, the Vampyres reliance of Nyx means they are not always keen on other gods Oh and I will be watching you, you have deeply peaked my interest."
And once again he vanished, back through the gray mist into his own body once again.
