Disclaimer: don't own Harry Potter
Hermione finally got Harry and Ron to her office. She began to talk to them. "I can't believe this. My daughter is there with that horrible group of people, and she is there willingly."
Then Ron said,"Well, Hermione, what are you getting so upset about? I mean, sure she is sitting in front of the fountain, but Rose is standing up for what she believes in."
Then Hermione huffed,"Well Ronald, sure she is standing up for her beliefs, but surely she could do it in ways were no one is inconvenienced,"
Then Harry said,"Well Hermione, didn't you knit those hats for the house elf's in our fifth year. If your plan worked, many elves would have been freed, and you can't save that wouldn't have caused an inconvenience."
Then Hermione said," That is different,"
Ron replied with," How so? I'm no expert, but I don't think that freeing multiple house elves who clean would do anyone any good. Filtch can only do so much, and if you leave places unclean for a while, mold and bugs can come. Plus, Hogwarts is huge and us kids were very messy."
Hermione answered with,"Well, sure, it might be harder, but it's slavery to begin with. Just because some dirt could grow mold doesn't mean that it is necessary a health hazard,"
Harry then added along to Ron,"You know Hermione, if mold can even grow, that is concerning already. Everyone working would have to scrub every nook and cranny to make sure that nothing happens. I can't excuse most of the shitty things that Filtch did, but I can explain why he is so upset about messes. At Hogwarts I noticed that he had to clean the mud I left in my second year for three hours before it was clean. That mud I left wasn't even that much, imagine if a student just finished Herbology of Care of Magical Creatures. They would be completely covered in mud. That will get floors messy, and the more time anyone has to spend cleaning up one place, other places could start to grow mold. Without the elves, Hogwarts would be shut down for sanitation reasons,"
"Wow, I didn't realize that, but still, Rose is sitting there claiming we haven't changed anything," said Hermione.
Then Ron said,"Well, let's take a look at what was changed. We changed the fact that muggleborns were hunted down, a problem that was only there for less than a year. We stopped muggleborn's prejudice, a problem only there since Voldemort, and that's about it. Compare that to literally any other oppressed group in the Wizarding World. Goblins have been mistreated since the fifteenth century. Werewolves, seventeen century. Centaurs, we have been taking land from them since Hogwarts was founded. There are many more, but I'm sure you get the point. Now, I am not saying that muggleborns weren't being mistreated, but for the longest time it was always just a word that most of them wouldn't even know."
"Your point?" asked Hermione.
"My point is that they are right. It is kind of embarrassing that it took those kids to make me realize these facts, but better late than never," said Ron.
Hermione finally realized that she was wrong, they didn't do anything to fix so much of the problem. She now was set on righting her wrong.
