Jamie can't remember when she was last asked to participate in a meeting. Maybe ten years ago, or being a cross-dimensional traveler resulted in not being in the dimension when a meeting was planned. That is until today. Jamie was asked to participate in a meeting about planning the yearly training. Unfortunately, Jamie was dealing with cramping and a headache by the time the meeting started. While Jamie doesn't know why she must be part of the meeting, she doesn't dare request not to participate.
Jamie tries to appear to be paying attention, but her headache is so bad that the lights bother her.
Hee guardians see something is up but believe the meeting will be quick, and they can figure out what is going on without disrupting the meeting. They can tell her what was discussed if she's not paying attention.
The meeting dragged on, and it didn't help the headache that Jamie actively tried to pay attention rather than phase out the conversation. The meeting is about planning the training cano everyone does rather than the typical boot camp. The rookies still do boot camp, while the others take the change of location as an opportunity to train differently, even with the woods by the base. This was more than deciding when to schedule the camp but what everyone would do.
The meeting lasted two hours. No one thought Jamie staying seated as most left was unusual. Only her guardians found it strange. Add that Jamie resting her head on her arms on the table. The two mechs watching know Jamie is either tired or has a headache.
"Take her up to our room. I'll get lunch," Jamie hears Crosshairs before Drift picks her up, "you just love carrying her," Crosshairs smiles as he watches Jamie try to get comfortable. Showing just how bad her headache is.
With pain relief taken, Jamie struggles to get comfortable on the bed. The only relief for now to her is that the two mechs don't know about her cramping pain.
"How long have you had this headache?"
"All morning."
It was bad to begin with. Drift figures, considering how uncomfortable Jamie is. Drift hates that she doesn't say anything sooner, no matter what is going on for the day, and she doesn't feel good.
Crosshairs can tell Jamie's headache will not go away quickly, but the way he sees her lying on the bed when he walks into the room.
"I don't think we'll be doing anything until maybe tonight," Drift comments, "getting her to eat will be a challenge."
Though Crosshairs took an hour, Jamie doesn't feel much better. The two still want her to eat and move her to the couch.
Jamie eats a little before lying on the couch. The two mechs decide to go work out and leave her alone for ninety minutes. Hoping she'll be able to sleep if the pain relief won't take care of the headaches. Drift covers Jamie with a blanket before the two leave.
Jamie is uncomfortable and doesn't move. She struggles to fall asleep.
The two mechs thought Jamie would be asleep when they returned, but the headache kept her awake, even with the pillows covering her head.
"She'll be fine tomorrow, but still...," Drift sighs.
The two don't want to leave Jamie all day, even if she won't do anything.
As the two thought, Jamie feels better the next morning. What still troubles the two mechs is why she woke up with such a bad headache. They know they'll never find out, but it still bothers them as much as how Jamie won't say anything. Jamie is happy they don't know about her other issue; she can handle that better than the headache.
