/- 1 year later
"Ace! Hang on baby! Mommy's coming!!!!" Rouge called out, throwing her purse and jacket to the ground before starting to climb the jungle gym, uncaring she was wearing a skirt, her baby was in danger!!!!
"M-mommy!" Ace sobbed from one of the highest bars, he had just wanted to climb high and wave at his mom, like he always did with his papa, but- but now he was scared. He was so high! He couldn't get down. Seeing his mom coming up he sniffed letting go with one hand to reach for her.
"No! Hold on with both hands baby! For mommy!" Fear was coursing through her veins, she shouldn't have let him go up so high, but he had looked so happy as he was climbing.
It felt like hours before she reached his side and put and arm around him, holding onto the bar under her boy, her own arms trembling, she never liked heights herself, the reason her husband always did the jungle gym with their little one.
"I-I got you baby." She stuttered out, kissing the raven locks of her sniffing boy, "We're going to go down together, okay? My angel will be fine." She assured him before assessing the situation. There was no way for her to carry her son and climb down, but her boy was a good climber he just needed encouragement. "Mommy will hold onto you while you take a step down and then I'll join you and we'll take another step, then we'll be at the ground again soon. Do you understand, Ace? Just take one step at a time and wait for mommy."
"O-okay." He nodded slowly, the hand of his mom on him making him feel safe as he very slowly lifted one foot to go to a lower bar.
"You're doing great, sweetie, take you time... perfect, now the other foot... that's it!" Rouge smiled as she took a step down herself, giving a kiss to Ace's cheek as he looked up to her. "That was amazing, already a step down, let's go again."
With the encouragement they very slowly descended the jungle gym, taking a few breaks in between whenever Ace needed it, giving plenty of kisses whenever it was.
Pov of... a blond man known for saying Yoi
He had just been on a stroll through the park on his breaktime when he saw a woman and her son play on the jungle gym, it made a smile appear on his face, that was so cute.
Maybe a little creepy, but he stayed to watch a little as they made their way down, the mom was adorable, kissing the boys head whenever he would look at her, maybe checking if she was still there. A parents love these little ones had filled his heart with joy.
"Ace!!!!!!!!!! Nooo!!!"
Together with the terrified scream of the mother he was already jumping into action as he saw the boy's feet slip on a bar about midway the construction. He saw the mom able to grab his arm, but unable to hold him up as the full weight of a falling child came onto it and he slipped out of her hands with a cry that tore into his very soul.
Time stood still as he ran and made a dive for the boy, praying to whoever was out there that he was in time to stop his fall. Pain shot through his shoulder and side as he slid over the grass, yet he held on securely to the bundle he had been able to catch.
Once he stopped sliding he slowly sat up with the boy in his arm, the raven crying loudly as he held onto him.
"It's okay-yoi. I got you." He said softly, "Are you hurt? …. What's you name?" He changed his question as his checked over the boy.
"A-Ac-Ace."
"Ace." He smiled at the choked out name, "Thats a cool name. Are you hurting, Ace?" He asked again, happy to not find any real damage.
A shake of the head made him sigh in relieve, unable to ask more questions as the mom had gotten down and fell down by his side. He handed the boy over and the woman instantly had him in his arms, a new array of crying from the boy as he was safely in his mom's arms.
"T-thank you- Thank you- Thank you. My baby- oh my angel- oh god." Thank you's spilled from her mouth before she was kissing her son all over, squeezing him against her chest and rocketing him.
"He's okay, miss." He said gently after a little while, "He has a small bruise on his arm from where I pulled him against me," it was most likely from the woman herself when she caught the boy, but no need to say that to her, "I'm very sorry about that. But it should be healed withing a week or two."
"N-no no, please" she finally looked up from her son and to him, "T-this is- This is nothing c-compared t-to what- what could- have-. Thank you. Thank you."
He smiled gently, "Don't thank me, I'm just glad he's okay." he looked over to a bench nearby before he got on one knee and put a hand on the woman's shoulder, "Let's go over to the bench so you can sit down properly-yoi."
With a little help he got the woman up, the boy still in her arms and supported her the small walk to the bench, sitting her down. "Are you okay, miss?"
"H-huh?"
"Are you okay? You didn't hurt your shoulder catching him? Or skimmed anything coming down."
"I'm- I'm okay." she said softly, hand stroking over the raven locks.
Nodding he looked to the boy again, he wasn't crying loudly anymore, but still sniffling and it was clear he was still scared. He reached into his pocket and pulled out something, showing it to the mom who nodded.
"Hey Ace-yoi. You were really brave." He started in a quiet voice, "I saw you going down, holding on so well, such a strong boy."
A smile graced his lips as the boy turned to look at him, "Such a strong and brave boy deserves a little reward, no?" raising his hand he showed what he had in it, gray eyes going to the item.
"Lo-lolly?"
"Yea, and it's all for you if you want it."
He kept in a chuckle as a tiny hand already reached for the treat before he seemed to remember something and looked to his mom first, only after she nodded did he take the lollypop and stuck it in his mouth after his mom pulled off the wrapper for him.
"Ace, say thank y-"
"It's okay, miss" he smiled at her as the boy had buried his head back into her chest. As he stood up from a crouch he ruffled the boy's hair, "It's all good. Let him focus on that piece of candy to relax a little."
The woman nodded as she looked at her son who was indeed calming down before glancing up, on her way to speak but gasping when she saw him.
"Oh no! Are you okay!? Oh god, your whole side!"
"Hmm?" humming in question he looked at the place and chuckled as his white coat was now more of a marbled green and brown one. "I'll be okay, nothing that won't heal, and I got plenty of these coats."
"I- let me-" she looked around "purse, where did I- I need to repay you."
"You don't need to." he started as he looked around himself for the items, "ah, are those-" he walked over to a small jacket and purse laying near the jungle gym. Patting the dirt off them as he walked back and placed them on the bench next to her. "There you go-yoi. Oh no, please don't." he stopped her from reaching for the purse, knowing what she wanted to do. "I swear I don't need anything."
"I have to repay you, you saved my baby, he means everything to me. He's my whole world. I don't- if I lost him-" she choked on her own words, wiping over her face as she cut herself off and took a few breaths. "If there's anything you want, please tell me, I'll do my best to get it for you. And I'll pay for a professional cleaning of your coat or even a new one, that amount of stains..."
"Miss, please."
"I insist, anything."
With the look of determination in her eyes he knew the woman wouldn't back down and he sighed a little. "I don't need a new coat, I have plenty of these." he repeated, "I rather lose a coat then let a child be hurt over it."
"Still I-"
"But, if you insist." he interrupted her, "What about a tour around the town?"
"A... tour?" She asked confused, not expecting that.
"Yes-yoi." He nodded, "I am new in town, I started as the new pediatrician at the nearby clinic just this week, I'm even still working on moving into my apartment, still need to get a lot of furniture. I only have a bed and a single chair now" he chuckled at himself. "So, I actually don't know my way around here yet, it's even the first time I came to explore this park."
"oh- oh!" Rouge nodded furiously as she understood the situation, "Yes! I can do that, I'll show you around, and tell you a bit of the place! This is a lovely town!"
Marco chuckled, "It does seem like a peaceful town, everyone has been nice to me-". The sound of his alarm cut him off and he took out his phone, swiping it away. "I'm very sorry-yoi, but I need to return to the practice or I'll be late. Will you be okay? I can call someone or if you want to rest in the clinic."
"We'll be okay" she smiled, giving a kiss to Ace's head, "I'm going to stay seated a little longer before returning home, it's not far."
"Alright-yoi... I'm sorry to leave so abruptly."
"No please, don't be. You did so much. Oh- wait- before you go. Here," With a skill only parents have, did Rouge go into her purse and took a little note and pen, writing down her phonenumber and name and handing it over to the blond, all whilst holding her child in her arms.
"Thank you" he smiled and pocketed the number, "I will send a text later so you have my number too and we can maybe look for a date that fits us both."
"That's perfect." Rouge smiled at him, holding out a hand to him.
He didn't hesitate to take it and give it a shake, "It was nice meeting you, Rouge. And-" next he ruffled Ace's hair, "You too, Ace. Be nice to your mom."
With a chuckle at the little nod he turned around and started walking back the way he had come, only to turn around briefly when Rouge called after him for his name.
"Marco-yoi. Marco Newgate."
