*Read Terrifying Nightmare to find out what Jamie's nightmare was about*

Even though the nightmare finally stopped, Jamie struggles to sleep. She's unsure what to think, knowing normally people don't remember their nightmares after waking up. Never mind days since the last time she had the nightmare.
Jamie watches TV on her phone using her headphones. After a couple of hours, she tries to go to sleep.
This is the routine every night. Some nights, Jamie is asleep by two in the morning, but some nights, she's awake until four. She manages to be awake by ten but still feels tired.

Tonight, no matter what, Jamie can't fall asleep. This time, Crosshairs wakes up to use the bathroom and sees Jamie awake. Immediately, he knows it's not a good reason Jamie is awake. Crosshairs sees Jamie struggling to keep her eyes open which is all he needs to know is that Jamie is struggling to sleep. He sees it's two in the morning.
Once done in the bathroom, Crosshairs takes Jamie out of bed to lie with him. Relieved Drift won't be bothered by this because he'd rather not wake Drift. Jamie is asleep within ten minutes. Which Crosshairs thinks is good and bad. He worries about why Jamie is having a hard time sleeping tonight.

Everything is quiet until four in the morning when Jamie wakes up, terrified. Crosshairs is woken up by her movement. Hating how terrified Jamie is. Not liking she's crying, not just because now Drift is woken up.
Frag, don't tell me that nightmare is back. Crosshairs worries as Drift takes Jamie and sits on the other bed. Drift isn't going to like hearing this.
The two mechs struggle to get Jamie to calm down and go back to sleep.

After the terrible night last night, Jamie decides not to sleep. She fakes being asleep until Crosshairs and Drift are asleep. Since the three are at Cade and Vivian's house in Texas, Jamie will unlikely be caught walking around the place. She is tempted to go into the field but sits in the living room.
It's only eleven. I don't know what I'm going to do all night. Jamie thinks.

Jamie ends up falling asleep on the couch and waking up, terrified. Yet she still manages to go back to sleep. This happens three times before she decides to figure out how not to fall asleep.

Cogman walks into the living room at six in the morning, seeing Jamie is tired. He'd rather not wake up her guardians, but this is concerning.
Within minutes, the three mechs are downstairs.
Drift hugs Jamie, uncertain if he should get her back to sleep.
"I know she's worried everyone will abandon her, but not the nightmares," Cogman comments.
Crosshairs points to the kitchen, telling the silver mech they should talk there.

"...I worry she's dreaming about me killing her. The nightmare stopped for a week, but it seems that nightmare is back," Crosshairs explains, "and if being with me is scaring her."
"I believe if she was afraid, she'd be trying to avoid you by now," Cogman assures him, "her mental state isn't helping. Have you told Drift?"
"No, he's not going to like hearing this. There's nothing we can do to help Jamie even if I'm right, so no point in telling him."
Unfortunately, Drift heard the end of the conversation. Now he'll ask what Crosshairs doesn't want to tell him. Cogman lets them talk and begins to make breakfast. He can still hear Drift's reaction to Crosshairs' theory, hating the additional worry the two mechs now have.

Jamie lies on the couch, distracted by the nightmare she keeps having to watch TV. While she doesn't think Crosshairs would kill her, Jamie thinks Optimus would decide she can no longer come to the dimension, ending Crosshairs and Drift's duty as guardians and forbidding travel between the dimensions.

Drift gets Jamie once breakfast is done. He struggles to hide his concern that Crosshairs could be right. Even if Jamie isn't trying to avoid being near Crosshairs. Also, Jamie's eating habits are still a concern.
Cade and Vivian join the others. They can tell something is going on. Worried it's related to Jamie. They've already told Crosshairs and Drift they'll help the best they can, but being human isn't giving them an advantage to help Jamie.

Everything seemed fine all morning. Everyone is questioning how did Jamie manage to hurt herself again.
"It's not bad," Cade tells everyone, "get an Ice pack. That'll help with the bleeding. Then bandage it. It doesn't need stitches."
While concerned about Jamie cutting herself again, Drift is worried about Crosshairs as he watches him leave the room.

Crosshairs sits in the hallway, worried the nightmare is influencing Jamie to hurt herself. Cade and Vivian notice and decide they better talk to him.
The two are concerned but think Crosshairs needs to talk to Jamie.

Crosshairs walks into the room as Drift cleans up the mess from caring for Jamie's injury. He tells Drift he'll take Jamie downstairs. After hearing Crosshairs' theory, Drift is worried Jamie will panic, but she holds onto him.
Crosshairs walks by Cade and Vivian as he leaves the room. They told him they were going to talk to Drift.

As Vivian said, Cogman has a fire in the fireplace in the living room.
Even though it's forty degrees outside, Crosshairs thinks it's too early for the fires.
Crosshairs sits on the couch, with Jamie on his lap. With how tired she is, Jamie leans on him.
"J-Jamie, are y-you afraid of me?" Crosshairs asks.
Jamie hates that Crosshairs figured out her nightmare.
"No."
"I would never hurt you. I worry about you. I hate not knowing what to do to help you."
"Maybe the nightmare is giving the answer."
Crosshairs can't believe what Jamie said, nor can Cade, who quickly texts for backup.

Next thing Jamie knows, all her friends who are at the house are in the living room. Which she hates, but seeing how scared Drift looks adds to her worry. Cade and Vivian still feel like being human isn't helping this situation.
Jamie's anxiety slowly rises, realizing what she said has to be reported to at least Rung.
The others notice and quickly realize how bad the nightmare Jamie keeps having has terrified her. They silently agree to drop the conversation, and they'll talk later once Jamie is asleep. Considering how tired she is, Drift hopes to get her to nap. Everyone leaves the living room. Drift lies on the couch with Jamie.
"I love you," Drift whispers, "I worry about you; we all worry about you."

"We've tried everything," Crosshairs tells the others, "even trying to have Jamie stay in our dimension, but that doesn't last long. Even if everything was great and she stayed here for months, a weekend back in her dimension is enough to kill her happy mood."
"Now she wants to be dead. They find out in her dimension, and they'll respond all wrong," Cade says, "she doesn't feel loved. No matter how many friends she has, even if we're talking just this dimension."
"Uh, are we reporting this to Rung and Optimus as they want?" Cogman asks.
"We have to," Crosshairs sighs, "they won't suggest anything like in Jamie's nightmare. We just don't like telling them."
The three silently decide to check on Jamie even though Drift is with her.

They see Drift holding Jamie close to him as the two sleep. All four hoping neither have a nightmare. Crosshairs is left alone with his friends. He stares at the fire, hating he's losing. Nope, anything will get better. hating the fear everyone has.
