[Author's note: I'm sorry for my old cringy author's notes. I was 12/13 at the time.]

The flying ship was anchored near the outskirts of the city.

A car with tinted windows parked a little bit away. It had a trailer hitched to it, presumably to store Jay's machine. A girl who looked to be about their age stepped out holding a small device. She was wearing sunglasses and a pink hood despite the heat.

Jay had placed his machine on a dolly. They had no intention of actually handing it over, but their plan did require them to keep that appearance. Kai's captors had insisted that only one person come to meet with them, so the lightning ninja was seemingly alone.

"Do you have the scrolls?" the girl asked.

Jay nodded. "Where's little Kai?"

The girl jerked her thumb over her shoulder toward the car.

"I want to test this first, so get in there and show me a memory of yours. There's no point in the trade if you give me a dud, eh?"

Jay put on his best look of worry. "What if-"

"It won't," she interrupted. "Assuming you haven't modified this, you'll be fine."

The blue ninja was now puzzled. As a further point of confusion, the girl shut down his attempts at instructions as if she already knew how it worked. She hooked the laptop to the appropriate place on the machine.

"Now get in."

"Wait," Jay protested, "Go get Kai first."

The girl flashed a hand sign in the direction of the vehicle, and the driver's side door opened. Another, taller person exited and opened one of the back seat doors. The girl walked back towards him. After a minute, the new person handed a red bundle to the girl in pink and got back in the car.

"He's right here," she said as she walked back to Jay.

Upon hearing that, the rest of the ninjas leaped from their hiding spots. The mysterious car almost immediately sped off, abandoning the girl in pink. Cole had soon safely obtained the red bundle from the girl. The others were still trying to keep her from leaving.

"It's a baby!" Cole shouted, just as Lloyd got a hold of the girl in pink. She laughed at his statement.

"Where's Kai?" Lloyd demanded as she struggled to escape his grip.

"He's right there, silly."

Cole moved the red blanket from the baby's head. The child looked to be somewhere around 8 months, and the hair that he did have was brown like Kai's.
