Garrus wandered the Halls of the Normandy until he found himself in the ship's main gun bay. He reviewed the details of the mission through his mind as he was unsure as to what Mordin meant. He grabbed the tools off a nearby bench and began to work. The hours began to pass as his mind filled with questions, he continued to work as doubts ran through his mind. He laid down on a nearby skid board and slid underneath the guns main barrel. He remembered during the mission that Geoff seemed to be disoriented and somewhat confused, he was ready to dismiss that as fatigue but unsure of the condition of his comrade. A loud bang echoed through the room as Garrus quickly lurched forward smacking his head on the metal plating of the gun. "Ouch!" he screamed as he wheeled out from underneath the firing manifold to find John leaning against the gun with a large smile on his face. Garrus let out a small chuckle as he held his head. "Just messing with the guns." John quipped as he outstretched his hand to help his friend up. Garrus smirked as reached out grabbing his friend's hand and hoisted him to his feet. John noticed the tools on the ground and added "something on your mind I take it." Garrus let out a small chuckle and said "Something like that" John sat on a nearby bench, as Garrus took to leaning on the adjacent wall across from him. Garrus crossed his arms 'Mordin was scanning your brother. He seemed rather concerned about him than the mission." John laughed "Is that all, maybe he is just interested in how they brought him back to life." Garrus quickly scanned the room and said "Are you not? Cerberus suddenly brings your little brother back from the dead and no one knows how." John placed his hands on the table and said "It's not like I'd like to know, Cerberus is not too kind on sharing secrets." Garrus uncrossed his arms and added "During the mission I did notice that he seemed rather misplaced at times." John's curiosity peaked at the statement his friend had made, and began to think about the last encounter. "Now that you mention it, he did seem to hesitate alot.." John rose to his feet as Garrus said "Shall we pay the dear scientist a visit?" John reached out and patted his friend's shoulder, as he added "Let's find out what he knows.". The two headed for the door heading straight for Mordins lab with questions in mind.

Mordin worked diligently on his appointed task as computer ran simulations. Data rolled across the screens, as he scanned the sample that he collected during the last mission. The bug was in a glass box as it hovered inside and occasionally smacked against the glass to no success of escape. He began to hum a tune to himself as he continued to type at a nearby workstation. He continued to run the data on Geoff as he grew more and more interested in his findings. Hypotheses filled his mind as the data collected into the system. The doors to the lab flung open as John entered the room followed by Garrus in toe. The doors closed behind them as Garrus locked them, and stayed close to the doors keeping watch. John cautiously walked toward Mordin as he sat calmly in his chair. "John Sheppard, good to see you. Maybe Yes. Questions you have." Mordin muttered in his usual way. John moved a nearby chair closer to Mordins workstation, as he sat down " I hear my brother is something of interest to you?" John cautiously asked. Mordin quickly looked over at Garrus for a second before returning his attention to John. "Ah I see. Garrus informed you of my little side project." Mordin smirked. John leaned forward and added "that's not an answer." Mordin smiled slightly and replied "I'm aware of that. My request was to speak to Garrus alone and if the situation was more severe I would include you. " Mordin put his hands together and set them on the desk "My interest in the commander is purely the safety of his health, nothing more." John sat back letting out a sigh and he calmly asked "Is my brother okay." Mordin ran the data through his mind carefully choosing his words. "I think the machines that are currently holding him together are invading his mind, causing some kind of mood swings and mental gaps. Similar to seizures." Mordin took a small breath and asked " Did Cerberus mention how they brought him back." John shook his head "No and Miranda keeps rather quiet about her job. Mordin smiled "Ah yes miss Lawson your partner I presume." John's eyes widened as Mordin smiled at the reaction he received affirming his theory. "What's that got to do with my brother?'' he quickly fired back. Mordin raised a hand and said "Nothing but I'm happy for you both. Good to see people happy too much death in the world. Lowering his hand he added "But back to you brother my scans could not quite pick up the tech used to bring him back, But after cross checking the data recovered against the data banks I have come to the conclusion that the machines are of Reaper origin." Garrus snapped his gaze over towards Mordin as John lurched forward. "Reaper tech!? That's insane. Why would they do that." Mordin seemed puzzled and said "that's why I'm concerned when my first scans indicated no Reaper tech but after the last mission I was getting a reading of no less than twenty five percent Reaper tech." John glared in shock and repeated "did you say twenty five percent." Mordin nodded slightly and added "Another thing concerns me. In the medical logs, it states that during the mission on the Citadel. Geoff was wounded by Saren." John added that's correct Saren put a large spike through his shoulder." he paused and added "why do you ask?" Mordin looked at the data and drew new conclusions. "Maybe Saren implanted reaper tech into Geoff. No. yes. Possibly." He continued. John got up from the chair and said "Let's keep this between the three of us and keep a close eye on him." Mordin nodded and replied "Agreed, will let you know if I find anything." John gestured to Garrus as the two left the lab. Mordin waited till the doors closed behind them and began to type the words

'Possible system override by means of Reaper Tech' inquiry pending…

Geoff marched into the comms room, the table lowered upon his lights dimmed as a beam of light scanned him as he awaited for a message from the illusive man. The illusive man stood in front of the window staring at the sun outside as it changed from reddish hues to soft blue accents. The illusive man lit another cigarette as he turned to find the hollow projection of Geoff standing behind him. "I see you have left Horizon. What did you find?" he quipped as he sat back down in his chair. Geoff paused for a second as he shifted his weight. "We found an alien race called the collectors, they were abducting humans." the illusive man leaned back in his chair "We suspected that it might be them, but we were uncertain. I've sent over the next few dossiers for you to add to your team." Geoff took a step forward as he added abruptly "what about those colonies and the people they took." the illusive man leaned forward and added "I will have agents keep an eye on other colonies while you build your team. I will also forward any info on key targets for you to investigate." the Illusive man leaned back into his chair "are we clear on the agenda….Shepard." Geoff took a small step back crossing his arms he replied "Crystal." the projection ended as the lights returned to normal leaving him alone in the room. The voice in his head began to claw at the walls of his psychosis. He clutched his head as if trying to stop it. He dropped to a knee as blood ran from his nose dripping on the floor. Mordin entered the room to find Geoff. "Sheppard!" He exclaimed. As he rushed to help him up. Geoff pushed past mordin and headed for his quarters. Mordin looked at the ground and noticed the blood on the ground. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small cloth and wiped the blood up. "Will have to run a thorough check on you." he muttered silently to himself." he left the room and headed for the lab.

The Normandy sailed through space heading towards Tuchanka. Grunt was pacing the cargo hold waiting for the arrival to the home of the Krogan. John approached carefully "looks like will be arriving soon." said stood near the shuttle. Grunt let out a loud chuckle as he slammed his fists together "good." John took a step closer and added "hopefully what ever your feeling right now is not some kind of illness."

"We have arrived at Tuchanka commander" Joker quipped, trying to hide usual sarcastic undertone, Geoff entered the hangar as he approached the two "we ready to go." he bellowed to them. John gestured for Grunt to enter the shuttle and the two filed after the lumbering giant. The shuttlet headed toward the nearest landing zone that was available. John checked his gear and Grunt tapped his foot. Geoff's eye twitched as he continued to breath calm his nerves. John observed silently as his brother appeared to be panicking, and went back to checking his gear as the shuttle descended to the ground. The door flung open as they were greeted by two Krogan guards. The three stepped out of the shuttle slowly as one of the guards barked "the chieftain will want to speak to you immediately." the three moved down a long hallway which exited into a large room with a small mound of rubble with three Krogan standing on top. They approached the ruble as they began to notice others hard at work fixing vehicles and prepping gear. As they approached they noticed another krogan sitting down blocked by their view the Krogan stood up and exclaimed "Sheppard! John Sheppard!" he pushed past the three other krogan to reveal himself to the group. John froze for a second and replied "Wrex is that you?" Wrex outstretched his hand as the two shook hands as smile drew across his face, he added "My friend, its good to see you are still alive." Wrex looked over briefly noticing Geoff he added "I see you brought the runt as well." Geoff suddenly moved forward as John reached out, stopping Geoff from approaching. "Actually we came here for help." John pointed to Grunt and and added "we have a Krogan we are unsure if he is ill." Wrex drew his gaze as the light reflected off the reddish tints on his crest. "Approach welp." Grunt moved forward and kept his stance firm. Wrex looked over Grunt as if inspecting a new recruit and he said "Where do you hail from?" Grunt replied proudly "I am of Okeers brood.. I was tank bred to be pure Krogan." He raised his arms and added "you should be in awe." Wrex smirked a little and said "Okeer is an old name. Thought he had died." John watched Wrex "So what is the problem" Wrex let out a small chuckle and said "He's not ill. He's just coming of age." Geoff took one step forward "adolescence?" Wrex sat on his throne and said " speak to the shaman and he will get the rite of passage arranged. If he succeeds in the right, he will be of clan Urdnot." Grunt turned to head down the slope as Geoff followed the guards and showed them down the corridor to the shaman. John waited until Geoff was out of ear shot as he turned to his friend and said "Wrex do you have that rifle I loaned you." Wrex smiled and added "Yeah what are you up to?"

Geoff and Grunt headed for a nearby Tonka as John rushed to meet them. He noticed that Grunt seemed rather excited as he bounced in place. Geoff looked at his brother and said "the shaman has approved the Rite to take place. Although there was some protest from a few local Krogan." Geoff shifted his stance and added "He has also granted Grunt the use of his clan. Which is us." John shook his head slightly and said "Wrex was saying that he had some trouble keeping the clans together." a rather large krogan approached "Get in the truck!" he barked at them as they stood near the door.

They arrived at the location which appeared to be an open field filled with varen and what appeared to be a large structure in the middle. The krogan dropped them off and headed to a safe distance. Grunt headed towards the structure as he drew his shotgun, putting down varen as he drew close to them. John and Geoff followed, providing small cover fire as they finished off the local wildlife. The machine had a single switch present. Grunt eagerly pushed the button as the machine began to lift a large block into the air which then released the block to the ground sending a loud echo across the land. "Its a signal stone" John shouted as the wind muffled the noise a bit. Within seconds more varen approached and large crab like creatures called Klixen began to arrive. Grunt laughed and began charging the enemy as Geoff and John continued to provide support as the creatures kept closing in and the machine began to signal again. A krogans voice could be heard over an intercom but was distilled by the sound of gunfire and creatures roaring. The machine readied a third time as Grunt raised his hand and slammed his fist down onto a varens back, crushing its spine. Grunt looked around as the third chime rang through and the creatures dissipated into the distance. Geoff looked around as John kept an eye on Grunt. Grunt sniffed the air as he sighed in relief "I want more". A rumble could be heard as a large tendril popped out of the ground and paused in an upright fashion. Geoff looked puzzled as the thing stood in place. Grunt tapped John's Shoulder and said "Ha! It's scared." John turned to see what Grunt was laughing at as he saw the purple tendril. His eyes shot open as he took a step back and shouted "THRESHER MAH!" Geoff raised his rifle as the tendril shot back into the ground and a large beast rose from the ground like a snake with two large sickle-like blades for arms. Grunt laughed In excitement "YES! A foe worthy of my strength." he bellowed as the beast fired large purple blasts from its mouth. The blast hit the ground with a splash as Geoff rushed to cover. Grunt Continued to fire his shotgun wildly at the creature as he smiled and laughed. John reached behind him and quickly counted his grenades "I have an idea!" He shouted at the crazed Krogan. Grunt took the grenades and added them to his own. Geoff suddenly dropped to the ground clutching his head. He could hear the voice screaming in his mind once again. John kept his focus on the mission as Grunt charged the thresher. The beast lurched forward as its mouth opened and blue tentacles reached out. Grunt quickly lobbed the mit full of grenades towards the gaping mouth as he fell backwards firing his gun in defence. The beast swallowed the grenades as it lurched back and roared. John tossed A Small black device towards Grunt as he fired aimlessly at the beast. Grunt caught the device. Upon examination he realized it was a detonator. John kneeled next to his brother as he noticed small metallic patterns in the side of his neck. John placed a hand on his brother's back and pushed him down to the ground as he shouted "NOW GRUNT!" Grunt watched the beast lurch back preparing for an assault as he raised his hand, he sneered as he pressed the button. Small explosions erupted from the creature's body as it began to tumble in pain to the ground. Grunt charged forward, leaping onto the creature's head as he pressed his shotgun to the beast's eye and began to unload round after round. John rose to his feet as he shouted at Grunt "I think It's dead now!" Grunt paused as with his rifle in hand, he noticed he was covered in blood and the beast lay still. He turned to face John and replied "ANYMORE!" John looked around taking note of the barren wasteland and the harsh dunes and said "Don't think so, let's head back." Grunt let out a small chuckle as he began to head back towards his comrades. John picked up his brother and helped him to his feet. Grunt laughed again and said "That was Fun." John smiled as the three headed back to the truck

After a short ride they returned to the Krogan base camp where Wrex stood waiting for their arrival. He seemed rather pleased with the results of the rite of passage as a smile cut across his face. They poured out of the truck and made their way up to where Wrex stood as he greeted Grunt with open arms. "No one has beaten a thresher mah since my time at the rite." Grunt let out a small chuckle "You are now a part of clan Urdnot." Wrex added as a few other Krogans let out a loud bark. Grunt turned his gaze toward John who continued his way to the shuttle carrying Geoff down the hall. Grunt looked at Wrex and said "I am Honored, but my clan is with Shepard for now." Wrex reached out and patted the young Krogans shoulder and said "Fight the good fight. Shepard will see to that" Grunt smiled and began his way down the hall towards his comrades. Geoff collapsed on the floor of the shuttle as John Called the normandy for a pickup. Geoff began to drift as his slipped into a restless sleep.
