Mariah flung the long flaps of her and Bordons tent wide open causing the flaps to make a large whooshing sound. She quickened her pace, she hadn't even taken the time to put on a pair of shoes before she left her tent, she was much to angry to even care. Mariah could feel the long lush dewy grass cross her toes and feet, the cold wet morning dew felt like it had nearly been freezing her feet. She almost wanted to stop to turn back and cover her feet, but instead she decided to keep walking forward, in hopes she would find Tavington perhaps sitting around a fire eating breakfast with other fellow officers. Mariah stopped dead in her tracks for a moment and turned her head around when she heard Gregory call out her name, he sounded nervous.

"Mariah, get back here now." He hissed, Mariah only sighed, turned her head forward and proceeded walking.

"Did you hear me?" Bordon asked quickly running to her side, Mariah didn't answer."Good God woman, I told you earlier, you can not just confront William and tell him what is really on your mind. I know you're angry dear, trust me I am as-well. But you scolding William in front of our fellow officers will only humiliate and infuriate him even more. Please come back to the tent," Bordon pleaded, he grabbed Mariah's hand and squeezed it firmly.

He pulled her towards him, so that she was now facing him.

"What Colonel Tavington did last night was wrong Gregory, he hurt you! Look at you," Mariah paused to lift her hand and place it gently on Bordons bruised black eye." I don't care if he is your superior officer Gregory. That does not give him a right to hit you, his own friend. This isn't just about you either Gregory, this is also about my dear friend Annie as-well. If it is true that you believe Colonel Tavington is only using her for... for," She sighed "Oh god knows what... Then I believe he needs a proper talking to." Mariah finished, she went to turn around and walk away once again, but Bordon tugged her back towards him again. This time, so she was close against his chest.

"How lucky am I to have such a loving and caring woman like you Mariah, I know you mean well by trying to tell William what you think of him, such as that he is a pretensions Bastard and that he can be a real Arse," Bordon laughed, Mariah couldn't help but smile and break into a small fit of laughter. "But you need not concern yourself with William Tavington, you should be concentrating on other things such as our little one," Bordon smiled as he gently glided his hand over Mariah's pregnant stomach. "And us. I promised you that I would marry you Mariah, and I intend to do so. As soon as the baby is born. Until then you must not worry or stress yourself out over Tavington, or anything for that matter. I've heard that stress is bad for the baby. Promise me you will not talk to Tavington today about what happened last night." Mariah paused for a moment.

"I promise Gregory... Gregory, I was thinking, what if it is possible we could be married before the baby is born? I think I would feel better if we wed while the baby is still inside me. I like the idea of the baby being apart of our marriage, it makes it all the more special." Mariah smiled, she hopped Bordon would agree with her idea. Bordon gave a small smile and held Mariah closer to him, he leaned forward softly place his hand back onto her stomach and gave her a quick kiss before answering.

"Of course we can be married before the baby is born Mariah. The sooner the better, though I admit I still need to find you an engagement ring, my love. And if we are to be wed sooner than planned, then you must write your parents and tell them of our plans. I think your parents will love the idea of being married before our child is born... I love you Mariah." Bordon sweetly replied.

"And I love you, Gregory. Now I think we should get something to eat, before everything has been picked over, the baby and I are quite hungry," Mariah giggled, rubbing her stomach.

"After breakfast I wish to visit Annie and see how she is doing, oh I do hope she is feeling better. She must be hungry as-well, perhaps we can take her something to eat. That's if Tavington hasn't already done so."

"Of course." Bordon said, taking Mariah's hand in his and each of them proceeded to continue walking into the direction Mariah was previously heading to.

As they walked hand in hand, Bordon's thoughts went back to the previous night and the fight he had with William. When he had returned to his tent after the fight Mariah had been there waiting for him, when she noticed the blood and the bruises on his face her eyes had widened in horror! She rushed towards him, tears in her eyes, she was confused and kept repeatedly asking him what had happened. Bordon only told Mariah that William and himself had got on to the topic of Annie and why he decided to bring her back to camp. And that when he suspected Tavington was keeping her in the camp for his own bad intentions, he became angry and attacked him. Bordon made sure not to tell Mariah that they had also been speaking about the death of Annie Martin's brother. The last thing Bordon wanted was Mariah to find out he killed her friends brother. He feared if he had let Mariah approach Tavington, then Tavington would tell Mariah what happened at the Martin Plantation. Bordon knew if Mariah learned that he had shot the young boy, she would leave him. If Mariah left him, then his heart would surely break. Bordon could hardly stand the thought of his life without the one he desperately loved, or his unborn child.

Both Mariah and Bordon finally reached the fire and sat down once they had helped themselves to some breakfast. Though Mariah had been starving, she could hardly stand the smell of the cooking meat that was wafting in the air, it nearly made her sick to her stomach. She figured the nausea had to do with the pregnancy, she had never felt sick to her stomach from the smell of meat before. As Mariah went to stand and walk away from the fire leaving Bordon to talk with his friends, to try to get away from the smell. She noticed Colonel Tavington stride into the direction of the Doctors tent. His face looked a little more stern than usual and his eyes were piercing as always. Mariah figured he had decided to check up on Annie's condition. She noticed Tavington had a few pieces of paper practically crumpled in his fist, and she wondered what information the letters had contained. Curiosity got the best of Mariah, and she began walking in the same direction Tavington had been going in. She stopped and decided to return to the fire when she heard Bordon insist that she stay with him, and that they could retreat back to their tent so she could get away from the smell if it had been bothering her again.

Tavington's knuckles were pure white as he balled the dispatches in his fist, after discovering the dispatches in Annie's pocket. He took them back to his tent and read them over and over again, until he became tired and could hardly bear to read any longer. If Annie and her brother Gabriel had been successful in delivering the dispatches to wherever they were suppose to be delivered to, then the American army would learn of the British armies plans and gain the upper hand. Tavington was furious, he was angry that there had most likely been a spy among their ranks, and he was also infuriated at the fact that Annie may be a spy herself. He didn't want to believe she was a spy for the American army. He knew that if Annie was in fact part of some sort of spy intelligence, then she would have to face the consequences that followed with being caught as a spy. Tavington wondered if he could ever do such a thing, as to condemn Annie to sever punishment or even a hanging. He hated the thought of Annie going through any more pain or seeing a noose around her neck.

Tavington shook his head, and gave a large sigh before finally entering the Doctor's tent. He noticed Annie was still laying on her back, she turned her attention from the a small flame of a candle that swayed back and forth, and lazily turned her head towards him. Tavington stopped for a moment before confronting her with the dispatches. He noticed her hair was tangled, face slightly gaunt and her eyes had large dark circles, she didn't look like her usual self. He figured she hadn't gotten any sleep at all through the night. And he was right, all night she couldn't move, her leg was stuck in that wretched fracture box and it was impossible for her to get comfortable. She not only looked awful, but she felt awful as-well. She was starving and parched, she could hardly hide the disappointment on her face when she noticed Tavington hadn't brought her any breakfast or at least some water. Annie watched Tavington silently as he pulled up a chair beside her cot, her eyes began to wander down towards his hand when she noticed some sort of paper sticking out from the ball of his fist. Annie continued to study the crumpled piece's of paper, Tavington had began unfolding in his hands. Annie noticed Tavington's lips were tightly pursed together and his eyes were like daggers when he finally lifted his eyes from the paper to look at her. Eye's widening and stomach turning, Annie nearly became sick right there and then when she discreetly slid her hand into her pocket and realized her pocket was empty, her brothers dispatches were gone. She knew Tavington had those dispatches, and she was terrified.

"Colonel Tavington, I- Oh no." Annie gasped, her throat was dry and her voice cracked. Feeling like she was about to faint at any moment. Tavington raised a hand to silence her. Annie couldn't handle watching him quietly sit there in front of her with his eyes moving back and forth between the dispatches and her. Tavington finally placed the crumpled pieces of paper into his lap and slightly leaned forward. He noticed Annie begin to tremble as he inched closer towards her.

"You look rather tired Miss Martin, I hope your wound didn't keep you up all night." Tavington said, Annie knew he was toying with her, and she was not about to go along with his game.

"I know you found those dispatches in the pocket of my dress, Colonel." Annie stated, Tavington glanced down back at the dispatches before getting up from his chair, he began pacing in front of her. Annie watched him intently, and she nervously prepared herself for what he was about to do or say next. Finally he stopped pacing, he had his back faced towards Annie.

"Tell me Annie... Are you in fact a spy?"

"No I-"

"How can I trust you? Why did you have these dispatches in the first place? Why were you carrying them?" Tavington paused, he sat back down in the chair beside Annie. "Is this why you were really accompanying your brother Annie? Because you are really apart of some sort of secret intelligence with your brother Gabriel? God Dammit I knew it! What am I supposed to do with these dispatches now? Take them straight to Cornwallis? Because that is what I should really be doing, Annie. I should expose you and your brother. Tell me what bastard spy was sneaking his way around our ranks and found out that we were planning to invade Charles Town?" Colonel Tavington snapped loudly. Annie couldn't believe what was coming out of William's mouth. Her jaw dropped, she couldn't speak.

"Tell me!" Colonel Tavington shouted, Annie nearly jumped out of her own skin.

"I- I don't understand. Invade Charles Town?" Annie asked in disbelief, finding out this information was new to her.

"Yes, Cornwallis was devising a plan to invade Charles Town! It says clearly right here in these dispatches," Tavington paused, as he angrily began reading the dispatches out loud to her.

"During these few long months, I have come to learn vital information that could help us become one step closer in winning this God-forsaken war. Though the information I have gathered is not exactly concrete, There has been some talk among the camp of the arrival of General Henry Clinton and his siege preparations among British armies in order to gain control of South and North Carolina." Tavington finished reading and folded up the letter. "Of course you already knew this?"he tested her.

"How dare you! I am not a spy Colonel! I do not appreciate you accusing my brother and I of being apart of some intelligence. I had those dispatches in my pocket because my brother thought they would be much safer with me, and if we were to be caught on our way to camp that it would be less likely for a British soldier to search a woman for dispatches. My brother was ordered to deliver the dispatches to Hillsborough, that's all I know. I knew nothing of the information those dispatches had contained. Colonel. I. am. not. a. spy!" Annie shouted, angry that Tavington had assumed such things about herself and her brother. There was a silence.

"Now you tell me Colonel Tavington... If I were a spy, what would you have done to me. Tortured me? had me hanged? Or would you perhaps had killed me yourself?" Annie asked, wanting a truthful answer from William.

"Annie, of course I would never see you tortured, hanged, and I would never dream of hurting you myself. But you must realise Annie that just because I- just because I..." He paused, and sighed. "Just because I, care for you. Does not mean I can abandon my duty as a soldier. I won't lie to you, if I had known earlier what information the dispatches contained and that your brother was instructed to deliver them to Hillsborough, then I would have to assume that he was a spy and see to it that he would receive punishment, and even face an execution." Tavington admitted, hoping Annie would understand.

"Is that so? Are you sure Colonel Tavington that seeing my brother hang from the end of a rope would just simply be apart of your duty as a soldier, or would it be for your own pleasure?" Annie tartly replied. Tavington tried as hard as he could to hold back his rising anger. She was really starting to challenge him now.

"If you are so offended by what I am telling you and you really care for your brother and his well being, then why hadn't you just stayed and left with the American squad along with your brother, yesterday afternoon, when I lied and said you were my Fiancé?" He paused, when he noticed Annie pull her eyes away from him and instead tried propping herself up, she gave a small wince but managed to sit up right. She glanced at Tavington once, before she decided to train her eyes on her lap. She wouldn't answer him. Tavington leaned in a little closer and calmly asked her once more.

"Why didn't you leave me yesterday Annie when you had the chance to?"

Annie's eyes shifted back and forth, and she bit her lip. She opened her mouth to say something but closed her mouth as soon as she opened it, she was going to tell Tavington why she really decided to return to camp with him, instead of leaving with her brother. But she thought perhaps that wouldn't be the best idea. Could she really tell the man... The 'enemy' what her true feeling were towards him? If she told William that she was attracted to him, what would he say? He did say that he cared about her, and after all, he had helped her. And back in Charles Town he had displayed rather bold affections towards her. But he had also displayed rather inappropriate actions back in Charles Town... Actions she had to admit she enjoyed. But then, what about her father Benjamin and Gabriel, how would her brother and father feel if they found out she and the notorious Dragoon officer Colonel Tavington were having some sort of love affair? Her father and brother would never approve of any kind of relationship between herself and William. Annie knew any possible romance between them, could never last.

"William, last night, I could hardly fall asleep due to the fact I feel guilty. Guilty for leaving my own brother. The whole reason why I decided to accompany my brother was because I wanted to keep him company, care for him and protect him, in any way I possibly could," Annie paused "And then as soon as I had the chance to join him on his way to Hillsborough, I left him. And I know now that me coming here was a mistake." Annie's words cut through Tavington like a knife, as soon as he had Annie back in his life, she was already leaving him, again. Annie noticed Tavington slightly nod his head, and his blue eyes refused to meet hers.

"I can not stay here William... And I know as soon as I am able to stand, then I must leave and join my brother once again. I left my brother, William because," She paused to take a breath. "When I saw you again after these two years, I-I felt a sense of happiness. After I left Charles Town, after I left you. I never forgot you, never truly stopped thinking about you. You have had such a tremendous affect on me, William. And I do not know if I have had the same effect on you, or not. But that hardly matters now, because I know anything between us, will..." She paused again. "I just can't stay here, you must understand that. You must take me back to my brother, William." Annie finished, she waited nervously for Williams response.

Tavington thought to himself for a few moments, no woman other than Annie had ever admitted to having feelings for him, and he honestly did not know what to say to Annie in that moment. Until William met Annie, the thought of him ever truly loving a woman never crossed his mind. The only women Tavington had ever involved himself with were Tavern wenches, he felt those women had only been good for one obvious reason. Tavington knew he could never have any true affections towards any prostitute. Annie was different, she was stronger than any other women he had ever met, and she intrigued him. And William knew he couldn't allow her to leave him for a second time.

"I'm afraid I can't do that Annie, I can not just simply ride to the American camp with you and hand you off to your brother. I'm sorry but you will have to stay here for now." William replied in a dourly tone. Annie didn't understand, she wondered why it couldn't be that simple.

"Of course you can, William. Can't you deliver me back to Gabriel under a flag of truce? If we arrive carrying a white flag, then they can do nothing to harm you, you will be under the protection of the flag." Annie stated, she thought William would have thought of this. Tavington shook his head.

"Then if you can not do that, then at least return me to my home," She suggested, but judging by the look on Tavington's face, Annie knew he had no intention of letting her leave camp. "You are not planning to allow me to leave this camp are you? Why? William taking me back to my brother under a white flag is as simple as it sounds, I told you, they can do nothing to you while you carry that flag. Taking me back to my home wouldn't be impossible either. So tell me William, why are you really keeping me here, when you can simply let me go?" Annie waited for an answer, but instead Tavington got up from his seat.

"You really should get some rest Annie, and you must be hungry. I will return here in a few moments with something you can eat and drink, excuse me." William quickly said, trying to avoid her question and changing the subject all together. But Annie wasn't going to let him walk away that easily, without him answering her question.

"What, do you really want me here for William?" She asked sternly, before he could walk away from her. "What sort of intentions do you have?" Tavington was slightly taken aback from her unfriendly tone of voice.

"And what are you implying about my character, Annie?" Tavington snapped, he now had each of his hands placed down firmly into Annie's cot on either side of her so that he was hovering over top of her. "I know what you are thinking, and believe me, my intentions are not to harm you nor desecrate you in any way. Do you believe me to be some sort of heartless brute with no decent morals towards any human being. A monster?" Tavington sneered, Annie's eyes slightly widened.

"Why can't you tell me your true feelings?" Her voice slightly shook. " Is it your pride? Everyone feels compassion, kindness... Love. You are known as Colonel William Tavington, 'The Butcher'. But I do not believe" She paused "I want to believe that you are not a heartless brute, or some monster. I believe that you are more then that." She answered while looking up deep into his glossy eyes. He closed his eyes for a moment and sighed. He stood up straight once again and then proceeded to seat himself back down in the chair beside Annie. Tavingtons face slightly softened.

"If you think that I am more than just a ruthless brute. Then why do you think I am only keeping you here for my own carnal needs?"

"Back in Charles Town, the day I was leaving with my family. You had me enter your room, you told me you needed to speak with me about a certain matter. When you had me in your room that's when you began to start taking advantage of me... It was not right of you William. You also told me that the entire time you had been in my presence for those few days that you had just been waiting to get your hands on me," Annie sighed. "I truly want to believe you are more than a monster. But how can I trust you, if we were to ever be together, if you had any feelings towards me. Then would you stay true to me? Would you want me because you really care for me, or would you strictly want me for your carnal desires?" Annie questioned.

"I already explained to you Annie, that I am not keeping you here for my own personal pleasure. But I can admit to you this, in Charles Town I did want you only for those reasons. But it was also in Charles Town that I came to get to know you and what kind of woman you really are. I admire you. I would stay true to any women I loved,"Tavington paused for a few moments and Annie noticed his face had went from soft, back to stern in an instant. "Christ! I would rather die before becoming anything like my father was. He betrayed my mother, he betrayed our whole family. While married to my mother he would leave our home for days, whoring and gambling! I swore to myself that if I were to have a family or if I were ever to marry, or even love any woman then I would never betray my my loved one like he had." Tavington explained, he took his fist and forcefully and sent it straight into the soft cot.

Annie could sense the anger and hurt in his voice, and she even noticed Tavington's eyes begin to mist. If Annie wasn't bound to her cot, then she would have taken Tavington in her arms right there. Meanwhile Tavington was now mentally scolding himself.

You bloody fool! what has gotten into me? I should not be divulging these kinds of things to Annie. Christ, I must look weak. I am weak!

"William..." Annie breathed, she moved her hand from her lap and placed it gently on top of Tavington's hand that was still resting gently beside her. He didn't remove his hand from her touch and instead took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. They looked at one another for a few moments, until Tavington stood up from where he was sitting and decided to move closer to Annie. He once again placed each hand on either side of her, their eyes locked with one another before Tavington slowly lowered himself towards her. He gently brushed his parted lips across hers before kissing her. As the kiss deepened, Annie realized that no matter how much she cared for William or how much he cared for her, she still had to leave him, she knew she had to return to her brother. William stopped for a moment to get a breath of air, and before he could meet her lips again, she turned her head so that he kissed her cheek instead. He looked at her with a confused look on his face, as Annie turned her head back to look at him, he noticed tears start to weal up in her eyes. She blinked, trying to hold her tears back.

"You know I can't stay here... My place is back with my brother Gabriel, as soon as I am fully recovered, then I am afraid you must take me back." Annie said in a hushed tone, as much as William wanted to demand that she stay with him, he knew he could never force her to remain in the camp. Williams lips thinned, his jaw was slightly clenched.

"My dear, If this is what you desire, then I will return you to your brother Gabriel. But please, Annie... Reconsider."

"Thank you."

After bringing some breakfast and some water for Annie, Tavington decided it would be a good idea to take the dispatches back with him, he wanted to show and warn Banastre and even Gregory that they had just recently had a spy amongst their ranks. A chilling thought had occurred to Tavington, just then as he neared closer and closer towards Banastre's tent. He decided it would be a good idea to check to see if Banastre had been occupying his tent. What if the spy never left their ranks, never left the their camp. What if in fact this rebel was still amongst them? The very thought of a traitor being in their presence without them knowing, angered Tavington, but above all else, it terrified even warning of his presence to Banastre before entering the tent, Tavington instead just walked right in. Upon entering, he was all of a sudden taken aback for a moment, but not at all surprised when he saw Banastre almost completely unclothed and on top of Rosanna, Bordons old wench.

"Oh for God's sake Ban, get yourself dressed and show Rosanna out of here. What I need to speak to you about is important!" Tavington demanded, Rosanna's eyes slightly widened when she noticed Tavington crossly standing only a few feet away from them, she was about to wiggle herself out from underneath Banastre, but stopped when she felt Banastre place a hand on her shoulder and pressed her down into the cot, pinning her underneath him.

"Oh Jesus, William. I am sure whatever you have to say to me can wait." Banastre groaned, annoyed. Rosanna tried getting up once more, but Banastre would not let her budge.

"Banastre, please," She paused to gently whisper in his ear. "Leave some for later, I assure you I can come back tonight." She smiled.

"Dammit all, William!" Banastre cursed, the moment between he and Rosanna was ruined. He finally let his weight off of Rosanna and allowed her to stand up from the cot, she adjusted her petticoats, covered her recently exposed breast, tightened her stays and gave Banastre a longing kiss before giving Tavington a repulsive scowl (Which Tavington ignored) and walked, with her hips swaying back and forth, exiting the tent. Tavington turned to Banastre who was now angrily buttoning up his buckskin breeches.

"Now, was that anyway to speak to your superior officer? I thought you disliked Miss Rosanna, or shall we call her Bordons old whore. I do believe you told Bordon that you thought she was a manipulating liar. And now here you are romping with her, and here I thought you had good taste in women.

"Oh, shut up William! enough with your damn teasing and tell me what you need to speak about, this better actually be important, because if it isn't I swear!-" Banastre was cut off, when he noticed Tavington take a few steps towards him and extend his arm, in his hand he held a couple of pieces of worn out paper. Banastre studied the thousands of creases and wrinkles the papers bared and he wondered what information they held and what importance they had. Finally taking the two pieces of paper in his own hands, he began reading the fine cursive writing that filled almost front to back of each piece of paper. Banastre looked up from the papers with concern spread across his features.

"What the Hell is this?" Banastre said almost breathlessly,"Do you mean to tell me that we have a spy amongst our ranks?" Tavington nodded. "Well this could be anyone, this person does not reveal who they are, what rank or even what unit they are apart of. He divulges absolutely nothing, only the information he has gathered... Clever. Well you were right William, this is important, very important indeed. I believe that we must take this information to Cornwallis right away! We can not wait, as soon as we deliver this information to Cornwallis the sooner we can begin investigating and finding out who exactly this bastard is. Come William." Banastre replied, he quickly shoved his feet into each boot, and stood up from his cot.

"Of course, that would be a wise decision." Tavington answered, as soon as William and Banastre were leaving, the two noticed Bordon appear in-front of them, there was a silence between Bordon and Tavington. Tavington couldn't help but noticed the rather large puffy black wound forming under Bordons right eye. The silence only lasted a few moments before Bordon decided to speak up.

"I want to put the fight that had occurred last night, behind us. I don't care what intentions you have for Miss Martin, that is your own business. Before we clear up this little conflict between us, I want to make it clear that I do not wish for you to tell Mariah what really happened on the Martin Plantation, I don't want her knowing that I killed her friends brother. I don't know if you are still mad with me, and I don't really care if you are. But I am begging you, do not let your anger towards me, get between Mariah and I." Bordon stated, trying to hide how nervous and worried he really was. He prayed they would be able to forgive each other without any conflict. Tavington scoffed at his pleading.

" I can assure you Gregory, you do not have to worry about me telling Mariah about your little secret, I will be sure to let you tell her yourself." Tavington sneered, Bordon pursed his lips tightly together and tried so very hard to keep his anger at bay.

"And you don't have to concern yourself with Annie Martin's well being, and what 'menacing intentions' I have in store for her, because she will be leaving here soon. She has ordered for me this morning to take her back to her brother as soon as she recovers from her broken leg," Tavington sighed. "I also have the option of returning her to her home, back with her family but I refuse to do so. She will be taken to the American camp, I want to prolong the news of her Brothers death for as long as possible. She will find out about her brothers death I assume from either her father, or you Gregory. But until then I want her to have a full recovery. And during her stay in this camp, I will refuse to take advantage of Annie in any way, because I am a better man than that Gregory." William explained referring to the previous night when Bordon told Tavington that he was a better man than him. And Tavington was going to make sure he would prove his friend wrong. Bordon said nothing and instead just nodded.

"Enough of this talk, we need to be focusing on what is really important here, delivering these dispatches to Cornwallis and catching this bloody spy!" Banastre exclaimed. Bordons eyebrows tightly knit together.

"Spy? What are you going on about Ban?" Bordon asked, curiously.

"We have a spy in our midst Gregory, and they could very well be still gracing the camp with their presence as we speak," The confused look on Bordons face began to turn into concern. "Last night while Annie had been asleep I was sitting by her side when I noticed these papers," Banastre raised his hand to display to dispatches to Bordon. "Sticking out of her pocket, I took them out and began reading what information they contained, when I realized they were Rebel dispatches, I took them back to my tent and read them over. This spy has apparently found out about General Clinton's arrival and his plan to gain control of the Carolinas." Tavington finished.

"When did Banastre find out this information and why hadn't you told me about the discovery of these dispatches earlier?" Bordon stupidly asked. Tavington just rolled his eyes and replied sarcastically.

"I wonder why Gregory? And besides I wanted to question Annie this morning before I divulged this information to the two of you, or anyone else for that matter. Of course when I found these dispatches in Annie's pocket I had to assume that she and her brother were possibly involved in some secret American intelligence. When I approached her this morning with the dispatches and questioned her, she was quite angry and swore that she and Gabriel were not spies. Though I believe she is not a spy, I still have to assume that her brother may be."

"How can you trust her Will?" Banastre asked, Tavington shot him a threatening glare.

"Don't tell me you are being blinded by this woman, William. What if both she and her brother and spies? She could be lying to you-"

"Enough!" Tavington snapped, tightly balling his fists. "I am trusting Annie Martin, I trust what she has told me is true. And I am most certainly not blinded by her." The three stood in silence for a few seconds before each of them heard someone from the other side of the tent clear their throat.

"Excuse me," The three heard someone faintly say. The man cleared his throat once more and raised his voice. "Excuse me? Lieutenant Tarleton, may I speak with you for a moment please. Its Emmett Greene. Are you there?" Banastre shoved the dispatches in his pocket and stepped forward, quickly opening the long flaps of the tent he noticed Emmett slightly jump, not expecting Banastre to quickly appear so suddenly.

"Yes, what is it that you need Mr. Greene, is there something a matter?"

"Yes, well. Ah, Colonel Tavington there you are!" Emmett exclaimed, when he noticed Tavington step into view. "I have been looking all over for you, I checked your tent, Captain Bordon's and even the Doctors tent. I thought you may have even perhaps been visiting Miss Martin, but I only found Miss Martin eating her breakfast and speaking with Miss Aldrich. I thought this is the last place you could possibly be."

"Yes get on with it then, what is the matter? You say there is something wrong?" Tavington impatiently asked, Emmett just gave a nervous smile and proceeded to tell Tavington what exactly had been the problem.

"It's your horse sir, she is throwing a fit, she won't allow anyone to approach her or even touch her. We've also noticed that she is keeping her weight off of her left hind. I figured that she is your horse and since no one else can approach her, I thought that you may be able to calm her down and figure out exactly what is the matter with her." Emmett answered.

Tavington just sighed, he was worried about the well being of his mare, but he knew he, Banastre and Gregory needed to get to Cornwallis and show him the dispatches. Tavington waved his hand about in frustration.

"Good Lord," Tavington turned to Banastre and Gregory. "As soon as I am finished figuring out what exactly wrong with that bloody mare, we are going straight to Cornwallis, understood?" Tavington asked, the two officers nodded their heads in agreement.

"Thank you." Tavington said to Emmett, before leaving the tent and walking past him with Bordon and Banastre following close behind.

Emmett turned his head and watched as the three officers disappeared out of sight as they made their way through the maze of white tents. Emmett stood in front of Banastre's tent for a few moments before he decided to look around him, checking if anyone was around him or might be watching him, but he saw no one. Taking a deep breath and working up all the courage he had inside of him, he decided not to waste anymore time loitering around and quickly but silently entered the tent. Once inside he began surveying his surroundings, there were a few cots, a few articles of clothing lying around, empty bottles and full glass bottles of Medara and Whiskey, a small wooden dresser and three trunks. Without a second thought Emmett began searching the tent, he looked under the three cots, the dresser and even under the few articles of clothing, but did not find what he was searching for. There was only a few more places to look, the trunks. Opening one, he saw many letters among other things. Finding still nothing in the first trunk he checked the other two. Emmett could hear his own heart pounding in his chest, he feared that at any moment Banastre, Bordon or even worse Tavington might return. Becoming increasingly frustrated, Emmett rummaged faster though the officers belongings, but still there was nothing. Emmett angrily slammed the lid of the last trunk shut.

"Damn! Where the Hell are they?" Emmett hissed as he sent his fist into the side of the trunk. Emmett knew he was in trouble now, and It was to late for him to stop Tavington from delivering those dispatches to Cornwallis. Emmett knew that if anyone found out that we was a spy against the crown, then he would surely be executed.
