Jade reread the text. 'The special place, huh?' she mused, thinking of all the ways this could be interpreted. All of them wrong. However, given what the special place was, and how it linked her to this other person, Jade wondered why they insisted on reliving that part of their respective lives. 'Been forever since that day, when we had our disagreement disrupted. Thinking she wants to remind herself why she's so nice, and why I've always been a touch standoffish.'

Jade just needed to take care of a couple of things before she went to that meeting. "Dad, Cat wants to talk with me, in… Yea, that place."

Her father just glanced up from his paper with it's headlines about the attack on Tokyo, not having cared much about the child he won custody of, just because. Her mother was in the wind, not really caring about her, dropping by whenever. 'If I was her real child, instead of adopted, maybe she'd care. Like Ryan. She wanted Ryan, except we're a package deal, and even if dear old dad can't hold a job to save his life, the deal he made with Bokkai, he's always gonna have enough money. No, it's Cat's parents who did the best, using their blessing to make something of themselves. Then again, they loved all their children, even her brother, who has no excuse for being so… Yea.'

Having received what amounted to his acceptance of her situation, Jade next texted around, letting everyone know she'd be spending a few of her precious weekend hours away from contact. 'Let them think I'm playing an on line game, causing mindless destruction. Always seemed to fit me anyways.'

Her time secured, she texted Cat letting her friend know she'd be there, soon. 'Lets see what she wants this time.' She thought with a mental sigh

Jade made a circle out of chalk, not being allowed to have a permanent one in the basement due to the potential damage to the resale value, and settled down to concentrating. It took a lot to bend the old bonds, bonds too strong, she hoped, to break, and travel back to that place. But it was where Cat wanted to meet, so the goth did as she was asked, and moments later, her mind was far away, on an island somewhere in the pacific ocean, between Japan and what is called Oceania.

"So, you heard about Grand Hozal?" Cat asked. "He stomped Tokyo last week."

"They finally find a way to put his ass down?" Jade asked back, knowing the odd mix of growls and other noises she was making were a language she'd spoken for decades before she was ever human.

"You're just upset cause he hurt you that one time." The other girl, currently in her original form, that of a giant reptilian ape, accused. Hoarfrost shimmied down her scales as she gave the other girl those eyes that suggested that once again, Jade West had taken things personally.

Jade, currently in the form of a gigantic semi-crystalline praying mantis, complete with wings, looked back through multifaceted eyes. "I wanted to be the one to take him out." The goth insisted, her carapace shining in all the colors of the rainbow, reminiscent of her many different streaks she'd wear in her hair depending on her mood, as well as the ability to refract light into lasers or solidify it into other forms of attack,. "Jerk always rubbed me the wrong way."

"Yea, you always were one to hold a grudge." The ape like monsters shoulders seemed to shrug. "So, think Tori's one of us? I mean, the way you reacted to her…"

"As far as I know, Bokkai and his circle only snagged two of us before they broke up." Jade reminded her friend. "I get it, our little disagreement was a threat to Kyoto, but really? Making us human? I don't know how I avoided going bonkers from this…."

"Don't say curse." Cat cut her off, an odd sense of pride in her human condition. "I was once this odd, monstrous winter storm of a reptile, caring only for dominance. Only concerned with who I was under, and who served me. Destruction, that always felt like the way to go. THEN, after the circle gave me that form, and with it, clear thoughts for the first time, I realized I wanted to be a guardian, like…." Reptilian eyes looked through the monstrous mantis.

"Yea, Queen Diakamakiri, guardian of the sacred islands." Jade nodded. "Fat lot of good I did them. I was as much a raging beast as any of you guys. I was just leashed most of the times. I have no doubt as to why they imprisoned me, instead of using me again. Maybe I'd have been able to take out my hatred on the other kaijin, but I was a berserker, and a threat to everything. Good times." Her body tried to sigh, only it wasn't designed to do that.

"Did it ever occur to you that maybe, this curse, it was supposed to be a reward for you?" Cat asked. "You got to be human, remember what it's like to be human. And, and maybe they got us switched up, cause on paper your parents looked like the better choice, and my brother, way crazy. So they thought they were giving you the nice life, and me the touch of drama, and that by locking us both up…"

"We shouldn't have these bodies any more." Jade cut her friend off. "Think. Just... think. We're here, on this island, locked away in a cave, away from prying eyes, only our spirits able to communicate, and linked to our very human selves back in Hollywood. Now, for a while, I thought, this was how they killed me cause I was and am one hard to hurt bug. Only, wow, not even close. Every bit of research I do says this part of me, gonna be around for a long, long time. No, I'm thinking, this whole thing isn't them ending me, but strengthening the chains. I mean, think. They gave us a human life, to live, to love, and once we're done, we'll still be these kaiju. Queen Diakamakiri and Gigafuyusaru, and they'd have both as Guardians?"

"We'd still have to deal with Godzilla." Cat said. "You gonna take a knee? Um, do you have knees?"

Jade groaned. "I need to get back. Beck wants to know if I'm free later to do something. I swear, if he wants me to go to the drag races, even if it is NASCAR, I'm gonna rampage all over his precious little track."

"Yea, some habits seem harder to break." Cat agreed. "Too bad Tori's not one of us, cause you need something to contain you. I just wish my Bade could bring you happiness." But Jade was already gone. Cat turned her spiritual head to look towards the guardian seals. "Think Tori would be a better choice?"

Okay, this is the obligatory Jade as a monster story for the season. And yes, I went big, in my own way.

Thoughts? Who wants to see Jade rampage all over Los Angeles?
