The stadium turned into a scene of complete chaos a second later. Fans were leaving by the dozen; players often got hurt by bludgers or pure foul play, but no one had seen anything like this since Voldemort was alive and many left, fearing the worst. Both teams were on the ground, confused and worried, as Lacey was being carefully placed on a levitating stretcher.

"Out of the way! Move it!" Ginny was the first to the pitch, having run down flights and flights of stairs as fast as she could since stadiums had wards up against apparition. Out of breath and trying not to cry, she found her way to her best friends' side who was being taken into the locker rooms and away from the general commotion.

"She's breathing, but unconscious," a Mediwitch told Ginny brusquely, helping the stretcher along as quickly as she could. Oliver Wood and Eddie Deverill were at Lacey's side as well.

"Rennervate!" Ginny futilely cast a spell at her best friend to try and wake her up, but her body laid on the stretcher, lifeless.

"I've already tried it. She needs to get to St. Mungo's immediately. I will set up a Portkey," the Mediwitch explained, leaving the three alone. Eddie was examining the broom, shaking his head.

"You arse! You let her use a new broom without checking it first?" Ginny started in on the Puddlemere owner, who looked completely stunned.

"She said it was a gift…I assumed she knew where it came from. I'm not going to question my luck if a member of this team is gifted the best broom in the world!" He was sheepish as he defended himself, knowing he was partially at fault.

Ginny looked down at Lacey, wondering why she didn't check the broom herself. She knew better. There had to be a reason she trusted it. She was interrupted from her thoughts as most of her friends rushed into the locker room, looking panic-stricken. Draco came in last, looking extremely pale, but his father was nowhere to be seen. He lingered right at the entrance to the locker rooms, not wanting to be too visible to a group that wouldn't want his presence, but he needed to speak to Ginny, trying to make that clear with his eyes.

"Portkey is ready. One of you can accompany her and the rest will have to make their way to St. Mungo's on their own, clear?" The Mediwitch was back, holding a workout towel in her hands, which was acting as the portkey. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that Ginny would be the one going with Lacey. As the red head took the towel and held onto the side of Lacey's stretcher, she looked past her friends and directly at Draco, trying to convey to him to follow, before the two girls disappeared.

Lucius was in shock and filled with so much worry that he had almost become sick several times. He had seen so many things in his life that should have made him physically ill and didn't, but seeing Lacey hit the grass and fall limp had affected him on a much deeper level.

Because you love her. He told himself, which was why he had left mere seconds after her fall. He made Draco promise to be as close as he could to her while he went to Ireland to tell her family and bring them to London. If he knew anything about Lacey, he knew she would want them there, and only he could make that happen at the moment.

"You bought her a house? I'm hurt, Lucius," Pansy Parkinson's simpering voice filled his ears the second he walked into Lacey's home to collect some of her things and clothes for her before he headed to Ireland. He drew his wand immediately, looking around for where she was, wondering how she knew and why she was there.

"She must be a real whore to get all this. Probably does anything you want her to. I mean, I could tell that the first time I met her…such a trashy halfblood," Astoria smirked from the couch. Lucius walked towards her, still looking around for Pansy.

"Why are you here Astoria? I specifically told you that I never wanted you within my sight again," Lucius tried his best to keep his anger in check, but every second these girls delayed him, it was less valuable time he had to take care of Lacey.

"We are here because we both did you a favor today, can't you see that?" Pansy smiled coolly as she walked out of the kitchen, holding a scotch in her hand. Both of them were dressed to kill, with red lipstick, their hair shiny and straight down their back, high stiletto heels, and in tight dresses. This made Lucius feel even sicker, that they could possibly be meaning to seduce him after what just happened.

"You caused her to fall, didn't you?" He didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to think that anyone could be so cruel, but without such an explanation, the accident didn't make any sense.

"Like Pansy said, we did you a favor. We can't completely excuse your momentary lapse in judgment for her, but now you don't have to worry about her anymore," Astoria told him, standing up.

"You did me no favors. I am in love with Lacey and both of you will have to answer for what you did. But right now, I need to get to her family and then be with the woman I love. I'll deal with the both of you later," Lucius told them, knowing he should alert Aurors immediately, but panic was rising in his chest that he wouldn't get to say goodbye to Lacey if the worst were to occur.

"That's where you are wrong. Right now, they are probably looking at the note that we left which condemns you to the charms on that broom," Astoria's red lips curled up in a false smile and Lucius started to feel his blood run cold.

"But we can make it all go away…" Pansy finished, walking over to Lucius, taking his limp hand and placing the scotch in it, looking up at him as if she was helping him, as if she was doing her part to make him feel better. He threw the glass to the side as soon as she let go, hearing it smash against the wall.

"If you know the counter-curse then tell. Me. Now." His voice went low and almost frightening, but the women before him didn't flinch.

"But you have to agree to our terms first…" Astoria continued, placing a hand on her bony hip, "We'll make sure Lacey lives and get rid of any evidence against you if you agree to have us back."

"Us?" He couldn't quite believe what he was hearing.

"I want you back. Astoria and I discussed it. Any arrangement will be fine. You can decide the times you spend with each of us."

"You will fix this if I agree to let you both be my mistresses?" Lucius looked from Pansy to Astoria, who seemed to completely miss the shock in this statement, "And what if I don't agree?"

"Then I really don't know if that bitch is going to pull through…and I doubt your reputation will either. You might even find yourself back in Azkaban," Pansy shrugged with a wicked glint in her eye.

"Then so be it. If saving her life means I have to live the rest of mine with you, then I will. But I don't trust that that is the only option," Lucius told them. He walked past them to the fireplace and clearly said the name of the pub in Ireland down the road from Lacey's family home, not wanting to waste another second of precious time.

"You really seem torn up, Remus," Fred noted snarkily. Ginny had insisted on being with Lacey through every test and meeting with the doctors and Sirius stayed with her. Ron and Luna had gone to get some food for everyone, which left the Twins, Remus, and Harry in the critical care waiting room. Eddie and Oliver had left the broom with them and gone back to the stadium to question the team about the broom or if they had seen anything suspicious.

Remus glared at Fred, who was pacing anxiously around the room. He wanted to just yell at him and tell him that he wasn't her bloody boyfriend but also knew now was not the time. This wasn't about him or the inconvenience of playing along with this act, it was about the woman who, after multiple tests, was still not waking up.

"She's your girlfriend and you haven't been in the room once!" Fred snapped, stopping in his tracks to yell at the former professor.

"Ginny needs to be with her right now. There's nothing I can do," Remus didn't want to seem heartless. He cared for Lacey. They all did, otherwise they wouldn't be sitting there, pale, worried, and anxious for any sign of hope.

"Bollocks! You don't give a shit about her, do you? You don't take care of her like I would if she were mine, you don't…"

"Fred, enough," George stood up, putting a warning hand on his twins' shoulder, which made Fred stop what he was saying and cross his arms. "I'm going for a walk. Harry, come find me if you hear anything," Fred said without looking at any of them and taking off down the hall.

"I've alerted the Auror department. I think this is more than a poorly made broom or an accident. They should be here soon, it's been almost an hour…" Harry tried to clear the tension by preceding to talk about the facts, but the other two were hardly listening.

"Oh dears! We came over as soon as we heard. Where is she?" Molly Weasley's concerned squeal filled the waiting room as she rushed past the reception desk with Arthur in tow.

"She's with the head crisis Healer right now. Ginny and Sirius are with her, but we haven't heard much. She's been unconscious since the fall," George tried to relay the information calmly, not dwelling on how unpromising it sounded the more everyone said it.

"Are you doing alright, Remus?" Molly asked gently, wringing her hands as her eyes met his. He nodded and went back to staring at the sterile floor. None of this was alright and they all knew it.

"Lucius! What a nice surprise. How did the proposal go?" Liam Delaney answered his door with a smile upon seeing his daughter's boyfriend, but when Lucius pushed past him into the house without a word, his smile faded.

"Are Colin and Aislinn here?"

"Colin's at work, but Aislinn is in the yard," Liam said, his brows knitting, "Is something wrong?"

"Can you please get her while I make a portkey for Colin? There's been an accident. Lacey fell at her match today and I'm sure she'd want you by her side," Lucius sighed, his mouth setting into a frown after. He hated saying it aloud because it meant it was real. The look on her father's face matched what he felt inside at that moment.

"You are sure she'd want us to? Why wouldn't you know for certain?" Liam repeated his odd warning after calling for Ais.

"She's been unconscious since the fall. We have to get to St. Mungo's immediately. Please. We can't waste anymore time," Lucius' tone was forceful and came out ruder than he intended, but he was panicked. Astoria and Pansy had already taken valuable moments from him and he wanted to at least get to Ginny before she was told a falsity.

"Lucius!" Ais was one giant smile when she walked in from the backyard. Her red hair was a mess from doing cartwheels in the tall grass, "Where's Lace?"

"Aislinn, your sister's been hurt. We need to go now," Liam tried his best to hold back tears when his daughter's expression changed. Lucius put a gentle hand on her shoulder as he walked with her over the dining room table and cast the spell on a plate to transform it into a portkey for Colin that he could use when he returned home.

"Is she going to be okay?" Aislinn bit her lip and looked up at Lucius as he quickly penned a note to Colin with instructions.

"I'll do anything in my power to make sure she is." He promised her.

"Lace, come on. I know you are in there…just wake up!"

"Gin, baby, maybe we should take a break for a minute, go get some food, take a walk…" Sirius said gently to his girlfriend, watching her from the chair in Lacey's hospital room. Ginny was leaning over her friend, holding her hand, talking to her. She had been like this every moment a Healer wasn't in the room.

"I can't leave her. I told you to go find Draco Malfoy but you won't. I need to talk to him. Or Narcissa. Why can't you do that for me?" Ginny turned, asking him with wide eyes.

"Because you know how that would look!"

"I'm DONE with caring about how things look. She could never wake up. I need to know what's going on and why they aren't here. Why is Lucius not here?" A tear leaked down Ginny's cheek as she looked at Sirius and then back to Lacey. When she was first seen by a Healer, they were told she had broken both of her femurs in the fall as well as her right arm, four ribs, her collarbone, and her pelvis. One of her lungs had collapsed as well. They told Ginny it was a miracle she was alive and that her body had self-induced a coma. That had been an hour ago, when a Mediwitch had administered massive amounts of Skele-Grow and splinted her legs. They had run more tests and were waiting for something more concrete.

"I don't know why he's not here, love, but she has you. And I think we should let the others see her. I know everyone's worried sick," Sirius reasoned and Ginny considered it as the Healer walked into the room and closed the door.

"We have some troubling updates," the Healer began and Ginny held Lacey's hand more firmly, "Beyond the damage from the fall, she's been cursed by the broom she was riding. It's an initial conclusion, but from what we can tell so far, it's rather dark magic. We're bringing in a Healer more adept at dealing with those types of curses, but I would like to see the broom itself, if that's possible."

"Yeah, it's in the waiting room, I'll be back in a shake," Sirius excused himself as the Healer took something out of his pocket and handed it to Ginny. It was a folded piece of paper.

"This was the only thing found on her person. It was in her robes' pocket. Do you know who wrote it? I've spoken with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, part of your party, I assume, and they say they have Aurors coming to look further into this. I believe whoever wrote this might have given your friend that cursed broom. This could turn into a serious investigation," the Healer explained and Ginny unfolded the note. Her eyes quickly scanned over it and her stomach dropped when she saw the initial at the bottom.

"Thank you. I'll speak with them about it," Ginny nodded quietly and waited until the Healer left to read the note again. She didn't want to believe that Lucius could do this. She simply wouldn't.

"I'll figure this out, Lace. Hang in there," Ginny whispered to her friend, who simply looked like the was sleeping peacefully despite her bloody forehead and bruises, and she left the room, determined to find a Malfoy, any one of them, as soon as she could.
