Chapter 4
July 1st 1980 Hidden leaf village
At a familiar ramen stand we find Naruto, Kakashi and Satsuki (In disguise of course) chowing down on a well earned meal after their most recent mission.
"Man protecting a salt mine, fighting bandits and coming home to a great meal, this is the life" Naruto exclaimed inhaling his 14th bowl.
"We're being sent on missions we might not come back from and you're living it up, tch what a loser" Sasuke retorted. 'It does feel nice coming back with friends and enjoying a meal, so yeah I would have to agree with you Naruto' Satsuki thought back.
No one but these 3 ninja and the Hokage knew that Naruto could hear and now send back thoughts and between others, which made conversations and missions needing silence much easier between them.
"WHO ASKED YOU" Naruto shouted back. 'Next time though, let's not get injured from falling rocks' he thought back jokingly.
"Now now you two, I think what's important is that the mission was a success and we came home in one piece" Kakashi kept the peace between the two actors. 'Agreed Satsuki, next time we'll need to account for unsafe areas for your fireballs, still at least these years of training paid off, huh? he thought always worrying about his students/pseudo siblings.
The training for the apprentices was brutal to say the least. When not dodging attacks from their sensei, they were pushing their chakra control to the limit and beyond, Naruto had to wonder who the real sadist was, Kakashi, Kurama or Anko. Though despite the torture Naruto and Satsuki were subjected to, they relished every opportunity to get stronger.
Naruto had learned he had both wind and lightning natures which was extremely rare, given how lightning was cancelled out by wind. He had also learned 3 jutsu for both elements and was working on mastering them before learning anything else. Kakashi had tried to teach some taijutsu but after learning Naruto already knew three styles decided it would be best to instead focus more on refining those styles.
Satsuki on the other hand had been brought more to Naruto's level in terms of chakra control and number of jutsu, they had learned that she possessed two natures as well but hers belonged to fire and lightning, boy did that throw Kakashi for a loop.
Kakashi went and taught the same lightning jutsu to her and taught her 3 new fire jutsu which Satsuki took to quite quickly, while Naruto excelled at taijutsu, Satsuki excelled at ninjutsu.
"OK you two, seeing as it is midday and we still apparently have energy to spare, you have three options. 1: We cam take a couple D rank missions. 2: training in the forest of Death for a few hours. 3: We spend a few hours relaxing in the Uchiha hot Springs" Kakashi offered.
Upon hearing their options the pair looked at each other and grinned before turning back to Kakashi and declaring the hot springs. It was a secret hobby of theirs to try and Kakashi's real face, yet after all their time together, they were no closer than when they started. Still it was fun to try.
"Very well then, you both head home and I'll be there soon, I'll quickly report to the Hokage and join you there" Kakashi said with vigour leaving his two students. "Sure thing Kakashi sensei, see you in a bit" Naruto called back as he and 'Sasuke' headed for the Uchiha compound. Another thing that changed was that Satsuki had invited Naruto to live with for both company and to get him out of his run down apartment.
As they made their way through the village she couldn't help but think back to when and how it happened.
Flashback
5:30 am
Satsuki was leaving home for the training grounds since she had more energy to burn than usual thought a little extra training might help, she wanted to invite Naruto so they could train together. A thought crossed her mind that caused her to stop and look at her house, she and had nice a accommodation yet in the time she had known him, she had never been to Naruto's place and for that matter didn't know where he lived. 'Well, maybe I can ask Kakashi sensei, surely he'll know' she thought and with that transformed into her Sasuke persona and went looking for her pervy sensei.
Of course it didn't take long to find him seeing as he spent most of his off days at the memorial stone to visit friends and reflect on his mistakes.
"Kakashi sensei" she called out.
"Hm, Sasuke, you're here quite early, did you need something or would like to pay your respects to the fallen?" he asked curious as to what the secret kunoichi wanted.
"Well I wanted to know where Naruto lived so I invite him to train for a bit, though I realised I don't know where he lives, so I thought you might know since you've been bringing fresh groceries every once in a while" 'Sasuke' asked.
Frozen for a second, Kakashi sighed and spoke sombrely. "He lives in the red light district, I'll give you his address" he said whilst pulling out a pencil and paper. "Why does he live there? Unless it's because he can't live anywhere else, because of the Nine tails?" she asked hoping she was wrong but knew she wasn't.
Trying to lift her spirits, Kakashi gave her an eye smile. "Try not to feel too bad, ok. If there's one thing Naruto hates, it's pity, so when you get there, put on a smile and greet him like it's nothing new" he said knowing his adopted little brother didn't want pity but company.
With concern and determination Satsuki made her way to the address she received from her sensei hoping it wasn't too bad. Upon arrival she could only gaze at the rundown place Naruto called home, the walls were barely held up by the support beams and dried paint, broken windows which did nothing to keep out the wind, the roof had holes in it and was missing pieces left and right. 'This isn't a home, it's a shithole unfit for the lowest of scum, stupid villagers don't deserve you Naruto' Satsuki thought in anger but in her 'Sasuke' form she had no real way expressing it. The door had to be the worst part despite being one of the few things intact, instead there were things painted on it such as 'demon', 'freak', 'go die' among other things of a nasty nature.
Knocking Satsuki was starting to reach her limit, after all , how could an entire village who value family, friendship and loyalty treat someone, anyone worse than a caged feral animal. Getting no answer she decided to break in, or at least she would've if the door wasn't already unlocked.
'It's almost like he doesn't think it matters if it's locked or not, then again, a ninja would just pick the lock or find another way in' she thought realising the futility of a lock.
Inside was just a bad as outside, it was cold, damp, falling apart and messy but that last one was more due to Naruto not cleaning up but then again, if the place is already a dump to begin with, why would he bother with an upkeep, speaking of he was still asleep dressed in his pyjamas with a somewhat cute nightcap and Satsuki had to suppress a squeal from how cute he looked. Naruto had kicked off the covers in his sleep leaving only one leg covered and his body was splayed over the whole bed however his face had a sweet smile showing that despite the dump he lived in, he was content.
Looking at his whiskers, she became curious and reached towards them to find out what would happen if she touched them, were they sensitive like real whiskers or just for show. Before she could touch the target of her curiosity, Naruto began to stir and she darted back so as not arouse suspicion.
Letting out a yawn Naruto looked around only to spot his raven haired team member before him. "Morning Satsuki... WAIT A MINUTE, WHAT ARE Ymph" he attempted to scream only to have Satsuki clamped his mouth shut. "Ssssshhhhhh, there are people still sleeping" she lightly scolded.
Moving her hands away he spoke with an even tone. "I'm the only one that lives here since no one wants to live in the same building as the 'demon' and for the most part, I don't want live here anyway"
Smiling a little Satsuki had a simple but great idea. "Naruto pack up everything you want to keep and meet me out front" she said and dashed off leaving Naruto with a confused look but he started packing the few things he had, clothing ninja tools and ramen packets.
Once out front, Satsuki was no where to be found so he just decided to wait, he didn't have to wait long as 'Sasuke' came running to him with a typical smirk meaning Satsuki was really happy about something.
"Sorry I'm late but I've got good news" 'he' said
"What news, you managed to get Kakashi to give up porn books" Naruto replied with slight sarcasm
"No, you aren't going to be living here any more, instead you're moving in with me" 'Sasuke' said knowing the blonde's reaction and had to resist giggling and breaking character with how comical Naruto looked.
His jaw was had made cracks in the ground with how fast it dropped and his eyes were almost out of the their sockets, it was similar to that of a cartoon gag. A few minutes had passed before Satsuki started getting a little worried, suddenly without warning Naruto had embraced the Uchiha whilst saying 'thank you' again and again, to anyone else, it would look a little questionable.
End flashback
Thinking back on that hug Satsuki was glad she was in her Sasuke form otherwise Naruto would've noticed the blush she was sporting underneath the illusion. Naruto moving worked out two-fold, first he just needed a proper place to live and have proper company but Naruto had learned that Satsuki got night terrors on occasion, thus she would sneak into his room and snuggle close to him. Of course Naruto didn't really have a problem with this but he did wish Kurama would stop teasing him about it.
Before too long, the pair had reached their home only to see two letters in front of the door. Of course they had no idea where they came from but the letters bore a strange symbol of a shield and four animals in each quadrant, what shocked them however were addressed to them or more specifically Satsuki in specific detail.
Miss Satsuki Uchiha
9 Phoenix Boulevard
Uchiha District, Konoha
That alone was enough to scare them as someone had learned that Satsuki masqueraded as a boy, Naruto's letter read the same as hers meaning whoever wrote the letters, they knew exactly who the two children were.
"Read it Naruto, you won't learn anything unless you read it, don't worry if it's a trap, I'll heal you before you know it" Kurama said but in truth the details of the letter concerned her as well.
"Well, I'll ready mine first, with any luck it'll just be a prank" Naruto remarked whilst ripping open the letter, the contents he read, he did not expect.
Dear Mr Uzumaki
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
We are aware of certain complications but we expect an owl with your answer no later than July 31st as term begins September 1st.
Yours sincerely
Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress
'So, it's just like the old man said, magic is real and it seems Naruto and Satsuki possess the ability to weird that energy but what does it mean?' Kurama thought not letting Naruto of the memories and thoughts than ran through her head.
Opening her letter, Satsuki noticed it read the same but before either ninja could comment, Kakashi showed up out of the blue.
"Alright you two, let's go. The Hokage has summoned all three of us and I suspect it has something to do with those letters you have" he said with a seriousness he usually reserved for A-ranked missions.
"Right" both students responded knowing the time joking was over and what Kakashi said was true then the letters weren't fake and did exist.
Earlier with the Hokage
"To hell with this stupid paperwork, I swear if one more person sends me execution requests for Naruto, I'm going to send all of those who sent one straight to Ibiki and Anko" an disgruntled old Hokage yelled out almost comically. Hiruzen Sarutobi had been forced to deal with the bane of all Kages, paperwork, unfortunately forty percent of the paperwork he went over were requests on making Naruto's life harder or ending it altogether and the wisened old man had had enough.
'Tap, tap, tap, taptaptap'
Alerted to the noise the Third Hokage wheeled around expecting an enemy ninja, only to find a tawny owl staring at him with beady eyes and a strange looking letter in its beak.
'Oooooookaaaaaayyyy, that is not a normal owl, perhaps it's a messenger owl but that symbol, I've never seen in before' he thought with caution. Nonetheless he opened the window to let in the owl, as he did the owl swooped in, dropped the letter on his desk and perched itself on the arm of the couch by the door.
"More and more curious, well might as well see what this letter says, the sooner I do, the sooner I can... Never mind" he said realising he had paperwork to do.
Just as he was about to open the letter, Kakashi entered to report on the recent mission.
"Lord Hokage, Jonin Hatake to repo-- is that an owl perched on your couch?" he asked unsure what to make of the creature.
"Indeed Kakashi, it seems to have been delivering this letter and I was just about to have a read, however I would like your report" Hiruzen commented.
"Very well, once again the C-rank was upgraded to an A-rank when rogue ninja from the stone showed up to destroy the mines and eliminate the client, other than that, it went off without a hitch" Kakashi said with lacklustre and his usual eye smile.
'CRACK'
Hiruzen had slammed his head into his desk so hard he left an accurate imprint. "That's it, Team 7 will never get any more C-ranks, I don't care if you get D, B or A-ranks but no more C-ranks" he groaned having had enough of the upgraded missions reports from Kakashi.
"Very well, you'll be paid for an A-rank mission, wait for a moment while I have a quick read of this letter then I'll give you your pay, hopefully I'll have some good news for a change" he continued more tired than after the second ninja war.
Cautiously opening the letter in case it was a trap he noticed the seal, the writing and even the paper itself were of high quality, as if it was coming from a noble.
Dear Hiruzen Sarutobi
My name is Albus Dumbledore, I am writing to you so that may understand the situation that is to come.
I am a headmaster at a school, the like of which you might find peculiar, it is a school of Witchcraft and Wizardry or in more simple terms, magic.
Raising an eyebrow, the old man couldn't help but remember the First Hokage make a reference to a certain individual that possessed no chakra and yet with a wave of a stick, was able to create a bridge of trees across a river. 'Perhaps sensei wasn't just making up stories' he thought before continuing with the letter.
Right now you are probably wondering if I'm cracked but I assure you magic is real and we accept children who possess magical abilities to attend and study at this school in order to gain proper control over them. I am telling you this because two children from your village have been accepted for they have magical abilities and would benefit from an education here.
The two I speak of are Naruto Uzumaki and Satsuki Uchiha and they are most likely reading their Hogwarts acceptance letters as we speak and we would like you to give blessing for them to attend. Given your particular line of work however, I am quite aware that this might seem like a trick but if you accept then I am willing to come by so we can iron out the details.
I hope that you have a good day and I await their answers as well yours.
Yours sincerely
Albus Dumbledore
Floored by what he read, Hiruzen couldn't help but slump in his chair while Kakashi, the ANBU and the owl had their eyes on him. Knowing that this was a delicate situation the wisened Hokage straightened up and addressed his ninja.
"Kakashi, bring me your team immediately, no one outside this room save those two is to know the contents of this letter until I talk with them" he ordered with high authority.
Kakashi simply nodded but the look in his eye meant he knew things were serious and disappeared to gather his team. While was gone, the Hokage tried to wrap his head around the situation, how did Naruto and Satsuki have magical abilities? How did someone find out the children possessed them? How did they know Satsuki's identity? Why now? These were questions that bounced through his mind, so much so, he did not notice Kakashi return with his team.
"WHAT'S UP OLD MAN???" Naruto yelled out to get his attention, had it been another 80 year old man, his heart would've stopped, instead this old man fell backwards in shock landing in a heap. Everyone else in the room, including the owl could only sweatdrop at the sight of the most knowledgeable Hokage get jump scared by a kid.
Composing himself he went into a quick explanation of the letter, needless to say Team 7 were shocked, confused, nervous and excited about the concept of learning something unique to them. "However, there will be conditions if you accept" Hiruzen said calmly knowing Naruto was always keen to learn and that Satsuki would follow to try and keep Naruto out of trouble yet join in anyway.
"First, this is not a school that you'll be used to, so until we know more keep the jutsu usage to a minimum. Second, you are to keep up your training as you are still ninja of the village so when you return you'll still be given missions and I want you both in top condition. Third you are to learn about the places you'll be going to since apparently there is a world that the elemental nations do not know about and we need all the information we can get and finally Kakashi will be coming with you, both as your sensei and to keep Team 7 together in case the need should become dire, so these conditions will be applied to you as well Kakashi and you'll need to make reports at least once a fortnight" the Third explained, after all he didn't know when he would see them again so ye wanted to know things would go as smoothly as possible.
"Lord Hokage, do we have to give our answer now because I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous about this" Satsuki said surprisingly out of character for her, normally she like Naruto would be ready to go head first into any challenge but this time she knew it wasn't a choice to take lightly. Naruto who was ready to take a leap of faith, decided that it would be best to discuss it with Satsuki, after all it's a big decision.
"I'm afraid all I can give you is a couple of hours to decide, after that, you'll have to make your choice. Know this, I will not stop you from achieving your dreams in the elemental nations but you must be willing to make a sacrifice if you agree to go" the Hokage reluctantly agreed.
"In the meantime, Kakashi I would like to visit a certain bookstore, would you mind accompanying an old man?" he asked the grey haired man whilst walking out the door.
"Of course sir" Kakashi replied right behind the old man to give his students some privacy.
As soon as they alone , neither Naruto or Satsuki said a word for a good 5 minutes.
"Oh for crying out loud, just accept the damn invitation" Kurama yelled out in Naruto's mind, realising it would save time Naruto linked up his and Satsuki's mind so she too could hear.
"I swear, it's like you two don't want to learn new cultures, ways of fighting or even finding a place where you can be yourselves" Kurama continued fed up with the indecision.
'It's not that easy Kurama, this is a big decision that will change our lives and I'm honestly a little scared because here, we know what our lives would be like but if we agree everything will change and I don't know if I'm OK with that' Satsuki thought with growing concern.
Naruto however was there to help quell that concern. 'We'll be alright, we'll both have Kakashi and Kurama and you'll have me too, so don't worry, no matter what happens I'll be there for you when you need me, that's a promise' he thought back with solid determination whilst making Kurama smile with pride and Satsuki fight down a blush.
'Alright then, I guess we're going, but you better not slow me down' Satsuki challenged with renewed vigour.
The hours quickly passed after that, the three of them discussing what they might learn or who they would or in Naruto's case if the school served ramen. Eventually the Hokage and Kakashi returned for their answer and were both delighted and a little saddened in Hiruzen's case as it meant he wouldn't his grandchildren in all but blood for who knows how long.
"Very well then, I'll write up a response for this, Dumbledore and let him know of your answers" he responded while not letting them know he would be writing he wanted a chat with Dumbledore so he could gain as much detail as possible.
1 Week Later
Working on paperwork as usual, Hiruzen was ready to pull what was left of his hair out, he swore the paperwork was duplicating itself with alot of the same forms turning up three or four times.
'Damn you Minato, I reckon the reason you went and sacrificed yourself was so you could get away from this without telling your secret' he lamented in his head toward his dead successor.
'CRACK'
The old Hokage was startled at the noise that he almost started looking for the intruder, at least he would have, had the intruder or intruders in this case, were standing right in front of him. His three ANBU guards however were alert and at the ready with their blades drawn and pointed the intruder's throats. The two individuals were an old man with a long beard and truly bizarre looking clothes, the other was a massive man with long messy bushy hair and a just as messy beard, the larger man was wearing clothes that could be described as raggedy, like was more of a person who dealt with animals than people.
"Who are you, why are you here" the ANBU Deer demanded.
"Oh my, what a welcome, can't say that I've ever had blades pointed at me neck before, how about you Hagrid?" the old man asked as if the blades were a casual greeting for the people before them.
"Uh Professor Dumbledore sir, I don't think now would be the best time" the now named Hagrid responded worries the blades would take their heads off. Luckily for him though, he said the right thing to get the Hokage's attention.
"Wait, you are Albus Dumbledore" the Hokage asked cautiously.
"Indeed I am, perhaps we can get to the reason why we are here, without the swords of course" Dumbledore answered with a light chuckle.
"ANBU, stand down, they are not a threat" Hiruzen ordered and without a word he ANBU disappeared to their previous hidden spots in the room.
"Wonderful, now onto business, you said there were some conditions you wanted to discuss with me and in the meantime perhaps you can have our two newest students come here" Dumbledore said perfectly accepting the situation.
"Hawk, please retrieve Naruto, Satsuki and Kakashi for me" Hiruzen ordered his ANBU and afterwards set about explaining the conditions and asking questions about what would happening with his ninja. Dumbledore was more than happy to accept the conditions as none of them were unacceptable and as for answering the Hokage's questions were too simple such as accommodations, food, welfare and other concerns.
As Kakashi and his students arrived, most of the details had been sorted out, only a few minor details needed working out between Dumbledore and Team 7.
"Hey old man, who're the big guy and the ancient old man in the funky outfits?" Naruto asked loudly before both Kakashi and Satsuki smacked him so hard he face-planted. While Hiruzen sweatdropped at the scene thinking he should have seen it coming, Hagrid looked shocked that anyone would say that about the man admired most. Dumbledore however was quiet for moment before breaking out in amused laughter as no one had ever asked that about him and it was quite refreshing to see some good-natured brashness in someone despite being in that particular line of work.
"Hahahaha, well now that was amusing, however I believe introductions are on order, my name is Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts and the big man with me is Rubeus Hagrid, the grounds-keeper. I reckon however, you're more interested in why we are here visiting your village, am I right?" Dumbledore inquired.
Kakashi was already on top of it and answered before his students had a chance. "The reason you're here is to discuss the situation as to the enrolment of these two and my involvement in their training whilst at your school, correct?"
If he was surprised, Dumbledore did not show it, rather he smiled at the excellent mind Kakashi bore. "As a matter of fact, yes, that is the case but you see, at Hogwarts the teachers there are the one responsible to the safety, education and well-being of the students and anyone regardless of family of friends are not really permitted on school grounds without the headmaster's approval"
Dumbledore's explanation confused most of the occupants in the room since he was the headmaster and could allow Kakashi on school grounds, all except for the Hokage as he already saw what Dumbledore was trying to do.
"Fortunately there is a new post open for a new class at Hogwarts and I would be delighted if you were the one to fill it. You will be well compensated including lodgings and fair pay and of course you'll have access to exploring more of the world due to your shadow clones, in exchange you'll teach the students a more physical aspect from your world, exercise, meditation, perhaps more risky training if you feel it proper" Dumbledore proposed.
Kakashi for his part was in a dilemma, he wanted to go and watch over Naruto and Satsuki but wasn't really comfortable with teaching children that didn't understand what the training of a ninja meant. His students however were both excited in the concept of their sensei becoming a teacher for many students.
After contemplating the pros and cons of accepting for a good ten minutes Kakashi decided to accept to the surprise of the ANBU, the delight of Dumbledore and his students and the expectation of the Hokage.
"Splendid now all of you should pack for your stay at Hogwarts, Kakashi pack any essentials necessary for your classes and Hagrid and I will be along shortly to take you to England" a cheery Dumbledore said. The new students and teacher made their ways home to prepare with both Naruto and Satsuki both using telepathy to chat excitedly about what they would do and learn, meanwhile Kurama had her own thoughts, she wondered if she should mention the things the Sage of Six Paths mentioned about the world beyond, in the end though, she felt it was best to allow the two young ninja to go along at their own pace.
By the time they were done packing, Hagrid and Dumbledore were already waiting at the front for them, however they were a little surprised to see that none of the three ninja possessed anything to carry their essentials.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I said to pack for your trip?" Dumbledore asked. Unfazed Team 7 showed the wizard and half-giant three scrolls in their possession.
"Everything we need is sealed away, nice and safe in these scrolls, so there's no need for burdening ourselves with heavy loads" Kakashi explained with an eye smile.
"Blimey, that's pretty handy, would make travelling long trips much easier" Hagrid commented while Dumbledore remained silent.
"Very well, if you all will place your hand on my arm we shall depart for England, before we do leave however, there is another little task I've asked Hagrid to do for me, would you mind joining him in acquiring one more student?" Dumbledore kindly asked.
"Sure thing, I mean it's not like we know where go once we get this, England was it?" Naruto spoke up hoping to meet another wizard to-be.
"Thank you my dear boy, now quickly, take my arm" the ancient wizard said as each parson took his arm and before they knew it, they were gone with a loud, 'CRACK'.
Meanwhile at a simple house in Little Winging
Number 4 Privet drive had been swarmed with owls on the outside while the inside could only be described as a blizzard of letters. Four people in said blizzard had their own reactions to it, the woman, Petunia Dursley was crying in horror at the sight of the letters, her son Dudley was cowering beside her. The other two however were struggling amongst themselves, one was a small boy trying to get one of the letters and the other was Vernon Dursley trying to stop the boy from having one.
Each letter was addressed to the boy, Harry Potter and for the past week his uncle had been destroying any letters that were delivered to the house. Now though Vernon had finally reached his breaking point.
"THAT'S IT, WE'RE GOING AWAY. FAR AWAY, WHERE THEY CAN'T FIND US" he yelled in anger and his wife and son could only look on in horror at the scene.
"Daddy's gone mad hasn't he?" Dudley said fearfully.
At last chapter 4 is finished and now things will be going quite a bit faster now that we're in the Harry Potter verse. If you enjoyed it, review, follow and hopefully fav it, if not well then just stop reading but I'll get the next chapter out ASAP so until then, see ya.
