Adam was in complete shock as he looked around the room. "Kim are you serious? Are you sure?" He saw all the signs they had talked about but he needed to hear her say the words. "I'm scared and nervous but I'm sure. We have danced around it enough. Too many close calls. I know I'm safe and I know you won't hurt me on purpose. I really just want to feel that connection with you." Kim cried as she watched the pure joy spread across Adams face. "Being scared and nervous is okay. And you are right. You are safe and I would never intentionally hurt you. Because I love you!" Adam pulled her in for a hug wanting just a few moments to wrap his head around it.
"I love you too baby! Also I have some things for you first. I got you some towels that more fit your size for when you stay over. I also bought all of your toiletries so you don't have to pack them anymore. And I made space in my closet and dresser for you. I'm not asking you to move it but I just want you to have stuff here too so you are more comfortable here. I want this to be your home, your sons home too." Kim smiled as she saw Adam crying tears of joy. This was the moment they both waited for for so long. Neither wanted to rush but both wanted to savor the moment. Adam knew they might have rough moments during the night but it was worth it, she was worth it.
Adam slowly turned Kim so she was facing him again. They wiped each other's tears as they leaned in to kiss each other softly, sweetly. They allowed the kiss to stay sweet as they started to work on removing the clothes in between them. Kim had on a causal dress so she removed Adams clothes first. Once he was down to just his boxers Kim leaned up to whisper. "Unwrap your last surprise." Adam looked in complete surprise and wonder as he turned her around to slowly unzip her dress. He saw the fabric underneath and was delighted with his last surprise as she called it. It was red lace. It was a matching set and sexy as hell. She bought it for him, for tonight. Just when he thought he couldn't love her more, this happens.
"This entire night has been full of amazing surprises. But this is so sexy! You know I love you in red!" Adam growled as he lifted her to carry her the bed. His natural instinct would be to rip the clothes off and dive in but Kim needed slower and he really wanted to savor her for hours not minutes. He watched as she found a comfortable spot to lay in before leaning in for the first of many long passionate kisses. As he moved back slightly he whispered the one question that was never addressed in all their talks. "Did you buy condoms too because I don't have one?" Adam wasn't ready for another kid and wasn't taking the chance. "Nope but I have the implant so we are good." Kim watched as he smiled and started to kiss her again with more fever this time.
The kiss turned heated quickly Kim's hands clawing into Adams back as he started to move closer to her breasts. He slowly unclasped the red lacy bra removing it quick to toss it aside. Adam heard sobs coming from the room and rushed to get back to her. "Darling what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" Adam was completely panicked, he wasn't t sure what to do if she had one since he hadn't experienced one yet. "I thought you left." Kim cried out as she reached for his body. "Oh baby no! I just had to pee. I'm not leaving you. I wouldn't leave you. I love you too much to leave." Adam was going on instinct and pulled her body into his, wrapping his arms around her as she cried. "I thought you got want you wanted and left like everyone else." Kim just kept crying. Adam knew at this moment she had felt used over the years. Used for sex and thrown away. His heart broken for her. "Nope not leaving. And if I had to leave for work or for Riley I would wake you first to let you know. I'm not leaving you. I promise. I love you. You are my perfect match, my puzzle piece, my soul mate. You and me don't end ever again." Adam pulled away slightly to wipe her tears. "I love you too. Im sorry for being a mess!" Kim laughed but Adam just shook it off and kissed her.
He held her tight, naked body in his arms till her breathing returned to normal and then helped her back onto the bed. Thank you." Adam kisses her slowly, his one hand pressed into her lower back the other ran down towards her leg hitching it over his hip. Without a second thought he slipped inside her again. Kim broke the kiss to groan at the feeling. In this position it caused for a different sensation with not as great movements but it was more beautiful. Adam placed a soft kiss on her head as she nodded and drifted to sleep.
As the night turned into morning the couple slept soundly until just about day break when Kim started pushing, her finger nails digging in the skin in front of her. Adam heard her voice before he realized she was pushing him away and scratching him. Yelling no please don't. His heart absolutely broke for her. She had come so far but apparently couldn't out run it just yet. Adam got a grip on her arms to prevent her from hurting him and then shook her calling her name. "Kim! Darling wake up! It's just a bad dream. You are safe in your home, in your bed. You are okay but I need you to wake up." The last shake seemed to resonate with her as she bolted awake. "OMG! Im so sorry. I didn't mean it I promise!" Kim cried as she fell into Adams arms. "I know. And it's okay, I'm okay. Couple of scratches is nothing. My back looks worse for the pleasure last night. If anyone sees them I will blame sex not a nightmare. I'm okay and so are you." Adam placed his fingers under her chin so she would look at him. "We are okay. I'm not going anywhere. You are stuck with me." He kissed her softly before holding her again.
He continued to rub her back till she was calm and her breathing normal. He knew right away what her nightmare was about but wanted her to feel like she could talk about it. "Do you want to tell me about it?" He asked softly, he knew she wasn't asleep again. "Not really. You already know. I just feel embarrassed and upset that I hurt you." Kim offered as she snuggled closer. "No need for either. We knew this was a risk. But I just hope you think it was still worth it because I do. You are happier much more than you are scared or sad. That's a win. Normally you are drenched in sweat after that nightmare, you are barely sweating. I think it's getting better. But we will talk to Dr Charles and see what he thinks." Adam kissed her forehead and just allowed her to feel. He knew she might not say anything right away after that.
"I am happier, you are right. And it was not as bad as usual, also right. And I do agree last night was worth it. I'm still upset it happened. A month of playing with each other and no nightmare and then tonight we have one after sex. This night was supposed to be perfect and I ruined it." Kim didn't cry but she definitely huffed. "Kim darling! You didn't ruin anything. I'm still here, I still love you, I still want to be with you. Nothing changed. I know what expect now, that's it. Do you think you can sleep again?" Adam asked watching her movements. "Um yeah but I need to take something first." He watched you take a small blue pill from the night stand and some water to wash it down. He was pretty sure he knew what that was but he wanted to be sure. "Xanax?" Kim nodded. "I have a script. CPD knows about it. I only use it when things get bad. I'm good I promise." Adam nodded before pulling her into his side to sleep again.
Adam eventually fell back to sleep next to Kim. It wasn't t a deep sleep but it was sleep. When he woke next Kim was already awake her fingers ghosting over the scratches she inflicted during her nightmare. Kim didn't know he was awake yet so he just watched her. He watched as she placed feather lite kisses on each scratch, top to bottom. It was tender and loving and his heart melted. "Thank you kissing my boo boos." Adam smiled down at Kim. "Well it's the least I could do. Sorry again for it. But thank you for loving me and not leaving when things got rough." Kim whispered as she reached up and kissed him softly. "No apologies necessary. And you are welcome. I'm happy I was here. I'm actually happy to witness it so now I know what could happen going forward." Adam kissed her forehead.
"Can I ask you a couple questions?" Adam asked her. "Of course. You can ask me anything." Kim was curious as to what he wanted to know. "How does the Xanax work for you? Do you use it often?" Adam asked. "Well it calms the spinning in my head. The anxiety, the fear, it helps clear my mind so I can sleep. I only take it with the worst nightmare. Last night was more because I was afraid to hurt you again. Back when I got off the pot and alcohol as my coping tools I used Xanax every night so I could sleep. That and anxiety medication." Kim said as she sat up some so she could look at him better. "Are you still on the other medication?" Adam was curious. "Yes I am. It allows me to function daily. I'm not embarrassed by it. I'm proud that I'm sticking to protecting my mental health." Kim stated.
"I'm proud of you too. So you started taking them around 14?" Kim nodded. "So I know the risks of those meds. Did you ever think about taking your life?" Adam asked meekly almost scared of the answer. "Never once. There was a time I wish I had died that day but I never thought or tried to kill myself." Kim assured him. He sighed in relief. He was happy to hear that but sad that she's still on the medication that keeps her level. "Enough sad talk. What time do you need to get Riley?" Kim asked as started to get up for a shower. "Um 1." Kim looked shocked. "What Allie going be home sooner?" Adam laughed. "Yes she will be home by 10. My mom is bringing her home. So I guess you will be meeting her. Let's shower so we look presentable." Kim said as she walked towards the bathroom. "Well this should be fun!" Adam said as he lifted her from behind to carry her the rest of the way.
As the shower started Kim and Adam both brushed their teeth. Once the water was warm they got into the shower. They washed each other somewhat quickly before getting out to dry off. Allie would be home soon and Kim didn't want her mom knowing something happened last night. They got dressed and headed downstairs to have breakfast and some coffee. Both had some serious addiction to coffee so it needed to be started right away. As Kim waited for the coffee to be done Kim took her meds in front of Adam for the first time. And she didn't feel uncomfortable about it.
Once they finished eating Adam cleaned up the kitchen while Kim answered the door. "Hey mom. Hey sweetie! Did you have a good night?" Kim asked her daughter. "Yes it was great! Where's Adam?" Allie yelled. "He's in the kitchen. Come on in mom." Kim followed her daughter into the kitchen just in time to see her running to Adam. "Adam! I missed you!" Allie screamed. Adam turned around just in time to catch her and give her a hug and kiss on her cheek. "I missed you my Allie Cat! Were you good for grandmom?" Adam asked as he rested her on his hip. "Of course!" Allie sassed with a very wide smile. Everyone laughed.
"Okay so mom this is Adam, Adam this is my mom." Kim introduced them trying not to be too nervous. "It's lovely to meet you ma'am." Adam held out his hand for her to shake. She looked shocked but eventually shook it off and took his hand. "It's great to meet you too. I have to admit we were surprised to find out that Kim had a boyfriend. Especially since that boyfriend had been in her life before the attack. And even more so that you met Allie already." Kim's mother was straight to the point. "Well it wasn't the plan but she's also met my son so it's pretty even there. I'm just so happy I found her again. She's literally the missing piece of my heart. And how can you not love this little Allie Cat?!" Adam tickled her laughing as she squirmed and laughed.
Kim's mom eventually left which was thrilling. It was uncomfortable at best to meet her but knew he couldn't put it off forever. He also knew that they would have to meet the whole family at some point but today hadn't been his plan. "I have an idea. Let's head out to get Ry and then head to the aquarium for the day?" Adam suggested as they played in the backyard. "That sounds like wonderful idea. I will grab Allie and then we can head out." Kim headed to grab Allie who was excited to see Riley and to head the aquarium. They all got into the car and headed to Adams dad house.
As they arrived Adam looked over to Kim. "Are you coming in with me? You and Allie?" Adam looked over with hope in his eyes. "Okay let's go. Allie we are going to head in to see Riley and meet Adams dad." Kim got out and went to help Allie out of the car. Kim was super nervous but was doing okay. Adam knocked before letting himself in. "Dad we are here." He called out as he heard little feet pounding the floor. "Hey buddy! I missed you. Look who's here?" Adam turned to show Riley that Kim and Allie were here too. "Kimmie! Allie!" Riley yelled as he saw them. Adam handed him to Kim so she could have hugs while Adam looked for his dad. "Dad?" Adam called out. "Yeah be out in a minute." Bob called out from the bathroom.
"Hey pop!" Adam hugged his dad before looking towards Kim. "Adam my boy! Good to see you. I assume you are Kim and you must be Allie?" Bob asked as he saw them sitting with Riley. "Yes sir! It's nice to meet you." Kim shook his hand. "I wasn't expecting you so soon." Bob said watching them together. "We decided to get Ry early so we could go to the aquarium." Adam explained as he played with the kids. "Well that sounds fun. Let me grab his stuff and then you guys can head out." Bob headed to grab Riley's stuff so the small family could head out. "Thanks again pops for watching him." Adam walked them out to the car, Bob watching the entire time. He was really surprised with how close they all were already. It kind of worried him but he was thankful that Adam found someone who accepted Adams son with no issue.
The small family headed to the aquarium where both kids were having a great time looking at all the different fish. After several hours both kids were sound asleep in the strollers. Both adults were also exhausted but happy the kids had a great time. "So I had a thought. How would you feel about me having a car seat for Riley in my car so we don't have to move it back and forth?" Kim asked as they walked towards the car. "That's a great idea. And I will do the same for Allie. It will also be good if we need to get the kids while the other is working." Adam agreed knowing it made perfect sense. "I also want to bring Allies old crib upstairs in to the guest room so when you guys sleep over he has a safe place to sleep." Kim told him watching the smile grow on his face. "Thank you! I love you so much for accepting Riley. No questions! That means so much to me!" Adam kissed her softly before they got in the car to head home.
