Once again, I hope you're all staying safe and staying relatively calm during *Name redacted* outbreak.
I love dating my work lol.
Jk, I hate dating this with references that will confuse people in the future. Sorry in advance. And hi.
ON with the STORY!
Ah, what a lovely day in the city, after everything I need this. He jumped onto another building. Then again, I wouldn't mind a little something. He heard a nosy near him. What's this? A couple of guys up to no good?
They were trying to use a crowbar to break in someplace. Being observant with not their specialty as they did not hear Peter as he jumped down and leant up against a wall yawning, waiting for them to notice him.
This is just embarrassing. Peter thought watching them.
After three minutes of them getting frustrated about continuing to fail, Peter piped up finally.
"Guys I feel bad, how bad at b&e are you?"
They jumped.
"Run!"
"Agreed!" They both started running off.
Peter easily chased after them and webbed them to a wall.
"Come on man! Have a heart!"
"Says the guy attempting and failing to break a door open. I bet you did not even try the door handle!"
"Well..." The other man said.
Peter hide his laughter. "Perhaps in the future, you should change careers. Being a burglar, not you two, stong suit, no offence." Peter went on his way after calling in a tip and leaving a note expressing their brilliance.
Elsewhere in the city, an older man was having an important meeting.
"Why are we all here?" Someone asked impatiently.
"It's simple. The self-made "Kingpin Of Crime. He's been attacking our operations, and this needs to end."
"Well, what, do we hit him?" Another man asked.
"Do you have any other ideas? I don't feel like starting a war, but are options are running thin. My family has had a stake in this business for years! Even before I was born. I will not allow anyone to destroy this all."
"What do we do first?" A third man asked.
"Get the legs. Then we get our attack dog fired up."
"But-" The second man tried saying.
"No, we need Hammerhead for this. Get him back and ready him up for what must be done. We shall meet again soon to discuss other gangs causing a raucous Yancy Street, Apocalypse and Dragon Tail, just to name a several. Now dismissed, get to work."
The man known as Silvermane sat in his chair as everyone got up and left. His daughter walked past the last few men leaving the room. She approached him.
"Father, how could you want to free Hammerhead from his cage?"
"We've been backed into a corner. That's Hammerhead's specialty. He'll do anything to survive."
"You know what he's done. Besides, perhaps giving Fisk a lag up would give him confidence, then when he thinks he's safe. You hit back with everything you have."
"Alisa, I don't want to come to that. This will all be yours soon enough. I only have so many more years left in me."
"Don't talk like that."
"It's essential, I do. When you take over the family business, you need to be ready for everything. Fisk is one of many who dares get on my wrong side. I hope to kill him before he causes issues for you. I don't want him to be your problem. You're going to have your own."
"We'll talk about that later."
"You keep putting it off Alisa."
"I know that. Fine, we'll have dinner tomorrow and talk about it, okay?"
"Good, I love you."
She kissed him on the check. "Love you to father." A hint of distaste in her voice.
Peter continued swinging through the city. His costume was a little worse for wear after encountering a cat stuck in a nearby tree. It was good until the kitty needed to be returned. It turned out the cat was not a fan of the owner and did not appreciate being returned. The owner seemed a bit out there, but still, it was rude of the cat to blame him for that.
He stopped moving to check how damaged his suit was, unfortunately, trouble always appeared when he took a break.
He heard a single shot ring out.
Natural, he went to investigate what happened. Three people, two men and one woman, ran out of the story into a getaway car. He saw it was the store owner who owned the gun as he chased after them, firing another shot at the vehicle.
Spider-sense? Spider-Man thought, getting ready to check on the owner. I don't like this. I'm going to follow them. Something else is going on here. I never get that with store owners. Staying close to these goons should be easy enough.
After a block, they started regularly driving, trying to blend into the busy streets of New York. Fortunately, they did not change their plates, and since the bite, Peter's eyes were incredible with great distances.
He followed them for a few more blocks as they pulled into a parking lot. It was underground with a gate, so he had to be speedy and stealthy.
He stayed hidden behind cars as more people came into the lot. They all came in their vehicles in a total of 5 cars with bags of expressive goods.
"Hey, where Jimmy's group?" One of the people asked.
"Don't know. Can't call, the boss said to keep phones off to avoid the chance of tracking." Another said.
This is serious; maybe if I record with my phone I can get these people arrested! If only they take off their masks, this will be a slam dunk! I won't have to beat anyone up! Jeez, that sounds bad without context I bet.
The sixth car pulled up. Four people came out.
"Where were you four!?" The woman who seemed in charge asked.
"Well, we got the goods and a little extra."
"You were not intended to just extra."
They poped the trunk, and someone was making noises.
Peter moved to get a better viewpoint.
I'm going to have to do something if they hurt his person. I hope it does not come to that.
"What is this?" The one in charge asked.
"A hostage. They could be some value to us. Imagine it this guy's are ticket to make dammed sure he knows we're serious."
"The boss said-"
"Don't you use that defence. He'll like the inactive."
"Did you check their phone?" The leader said, padding down the abducted man.
"Of course, I did. You think so little of me." He scoffed.
"We need to be careful. The idea of a rat is a possibility. After the count, we need to stash the goods and -
A car alarm began to blurt out. Peter moved position again. Unfortunately, the car he hid behind had a sensitive alarm. He swiftly moved under a vehicle. Multiple goons approached checking the area with automatic weapons. Peter Spider-sense was alerting him of the danger around him, but it appeared to know something he did not.
Two trucks zoomed thought the gates. They stayed a distance away from the group of goons.
"What's this?!" One cried out.
Armed militarised goons came out of the trucks and began shooting at the first per of goons.
"Kingpin's found us!" A goon cried.
Peter heard all the commotion and moved from the safety of the cars to figure out exactly what was going on and how he could stop it.
He got a good view of what was happening. He could now identify the first group as Silvermane's people and the second's Fisk's group coming to take them out.
Silvermane's people had the numbers, but Fisk's had the firepower and protection.
Silvermane's people were pinned to cover with all the bullets zipping past their heads. They returned fire with little effect.
Peter saw a grenade tossed at one per of Silvermane's people and webbed the explosive away on pure instinct, damaging a wall and revelling himself in the conflict, which made matters worse for all involved as the focus got split all around.
Peter dodged bullets from half the people in the room. They seemed to forget they were shooting at other people just a second ago.
Peter hid behind a car while many alarms were blaring around him. It was getting annoying.
If this continues, my ears are going to explode! A grande was thrown at him. Or maybe all of me will. Spider-Man leaped out the way as the car blew up, he nearly got hit with the shrapnel from the car.
More bullets came flying at him, along with Silvermane's people they got for cover with the mighter firepower clearly getting to them.
Great, I'm going to have to protect the people who were just shooting at me. Or maybe- no, I'm better than that. Nobody is dying here if I can help it.
Peter rushed over to fight Fisk's people. They might have had body armour, but that was not going to stop Peter from taking them down. He knocked a couple out, punching and kicking wildly. He webbed one's gun and swung it at someone else. Then kicked one person back and punched another out, cracking their helmet all in one motion. He then flipped and knocked out another goon.
One of Silverman's people took advantage of Spider-Man's help and tried shooting at Fisk's thugs. In retaliation, Spider-Man webbed him and lanched the shooter away, knocking them out. Peter went back to fighting Fisk's people as another truck pulled up.
Oh great! Now what!
The Enforcers got out of the truck.
Lucky me, these guys again.
As they got out of the back, all of Silvermane's people began shooting at them. Fisks remaining people started trying to cover them as they approached Spider-Man. "Time for round two!" One of them said.
"Come on, me vs all of you? How's that fair? Don't you three have standards?"
"No, not really." Another replied. "You were told not to go down this road, and yet, here we are. You can only blame yourself for this beating you're going to get kid."
"Yeah, your parents are going to forget what you looked like! I said that, right?" Ox asked his partners. They nodded in a not genuine fashion. Ox did not seem to clue in.
"Enough stalling! Time to-" Bullets started whizzing at four of them again. Silvermane's people all started focusing their shots at them.
"How ungratefully! I tried to protect you all!"
They did not respond and kept shooting.
Spider-Man noticed what they were really doing, they were trying to escape as Fisk's goons moved position. Spider-Man just accepted this so they'd at least have a chance at not dying. Seven made a break for and seemed to be okay. However, an eighth was shot and killed by chance as bullets were being spread at them.
The remaining few stated back behind cover.
The Enforcers moved toward the remaining goons with looking of annoyance. Spider-Man snapped back into action.
"Alrighty, let's have round two!" He said, getting a good hit on Ox knocking him back and webbed Fancy Dan to Ox's back.
"I can take you on Bug," Montana said confidently, cracking his neck and playing with his whip. Peter mimicked him, aggravating him. It was like a western standoff, which Peter ruined. He jumped in the air and webbed his whip's grip. Then drop kicked Montana. Ox and Fancy just got unstuck as Peter began webbing up Montana.
"I like two vs one Better."
"You think you're so clever." Peter Spider-Sence tingled. Behind him, Fisk's people approached.
I forgot about them. Peter thought zipping to the ceiling.
"You think you can hide! We're not blind!" Dan shouted.
All the goons revelled to have Flashlight on their heads. It was not very dark, but now they could, without a doubt, see Spider-Man. They all began firing at him as the reminder of Silvermane's thugs escaped.
Well, at least I stopped a massacre. Not my own, however. He thought to himself.
He went around them with his speed and webs. Peter attacked the goons from behind. As this happened, shouting could be faintly heard from outside. Ox charged at Spider-Man as he fought the goons. Peter cartwheeled out of the way webbing Ox and decked him. This did not knock him out. However, it did piss him off, which was not the intended result. Ox gripped Peter and lifted him up. Spider-Man was able to knee him in, well the place where one shouldn't be kneed, of course.
Dan got Mantana free of the webbing.
"Could we please stop making this unfair?"
Dan began firing at Spider-Man. His accuracy was deadly. Spidey just missed bullets by half an inch! As he did, a goon gave a hand signal wildly running to the driver seat of a truck. Montana got Ox in the truck while Dan kept firing at Spider-Man. He backed up into the truck as it zoomed off. Peter followed in hot pursuit. He could hear police in the area.
No wonder they are trying to escape! Peter thought, seeing multiple cars and swat teams dealing with Silvermane's goons. Some began firing at the tires of the lightning-fast truck with no success. The vehicle was entirely bulletproof! So Peter jumped on and held on for dear life.
Spider-Man attempted to make his way to the driver.
He crawled his way to the window and punched it. Shockingly, literally, it electrocuted him when upon hitting the window. He did at least crack it. So with another punch, the window shattered. Peter tried to get a grip on the driver; he failed. For his troubles, he got struck in the face with a bat.
To his annoyance, he fell off the vehicle and lost the truck as zoomed off.
Darn! So close.
He went back to the police to check in on how everything went down with Silvermane's people and Fisk's.
It seemed that fortunately, nobody had died. Apart from that one guy who was killed in the crossfire from earlier.
Spider-Man got a few dirty looks as he got close to the ground. Captian Stacy greeted him.
"Hello, Spider-Man. We need to stop meeting like this."
"I find it unlikely." Peter looked around himself, feeling like the other officers were digging into his head with how hard they were glaring at him.
Stacy pulled Spider-Man aside. "Ignore them. Some cops are still unhappy with you for nemours reasons. You've been getting quite active."
"Well, these goons seem to be getting more active too."
"Yes, they are gearing up for something. We suspect war."
"Great, just what I need." He stopped himself from mentioning how I'd affect his school time even more. Stacy was not an idiot. It would positively condense his possible search for Spider-Man true identity down to fewer suspects.
"These perps were saying how you tried to get them all alive."
"Yeah, I don't like people dying when I can do something to stop it. A personal rule of the trade."
"Huh, it wouldn't be the worst to let a couple of theses killers get taken out in the crossfire. You must have put your butt in danger for them of all people. Bet they still tried shooting you even though you were saving their sorry lives." Stacy said, looking over at the goons who were being transferred into vehicles.
"Well, first, I try to keep everybody alive, no matter what they have done. Second, I protect my butt with great care, it was not in danger, more the rest of me. Third, you are right. They don't know how to say thank you, it would seem. I don't do this for the thank yous. Though I would appreciate one ever now and again." Peter said, looking at Stacy feeling more confident. He was always a bit intimidated by him until this moment when he finally was feeling more on his level.
"I'm sure you would. You're a brave man, putting your life on the line like that. If you'd join the police-"
"I don't think so. Being a Spider-Cop founds fun and all, but I like to keep my secret identity a secret. No offence, I don't how you all do it." His confidence began to wither away once more. It was beautiful as it lasted.
"We do what we have to do. The law, typically would not give you a chance, I'm not the. I think we could work together, put an end to these people before any more damage is inflicted on the city."
"Sure! That's a great idea. Just know I'm not telling you who I am."
"Understandable, I'm guessing you don't have a burner phone."
"Why- Oh so we could talk, I give you tips you give me tips? That kind of thing?"
"Exactly, it would be better for us working together. Here." Stacy handed Peter a burner.
Peter grasped it.
"So, this is not going to track me down, right?"
"You should check, just in case. Never can be too careful, right?"
Peter got ready to go on his way, but Caption Stacy called out.
"Wait! I forgot something you should know."
"What's up?" Spider-Man asked, curiously.
"We're getting people to look into Wilson Fisk. Trusted people. It's been remarkably unusually. The Fisks seem to be ghosts after looking closer at their history."
"You said Fisks?"
"The man's married, was. She's gone missing from the public eye over these last few months. Expected to be dead, but no confirmation. The Fisk name everything about them, all faked before the last about 20 years. Before that, Wilson Fisk did not exist. It's shocking to see all this, and surely someone must have noticed this. He's not a nobody."
"Well, I'm no detective, but I agree that's some freaky information. I want to help look into this if I can."
"Do it legally, please."
"Yeah, I'll try my hardest to be I sell be in touch. Good day Caption Stacy" Spider-Man went on his way as did Caption Stacy for real this time.
A couple of blocks away, Peter checked the phone inside and out.
All good. He thought, with a little debut in this mind lingering behind.
Good thing he gave me this, jeez I don't think I should be spending money. I really need to find myself a job that'll not compromise my identity and even more time in my life. This gang war on the horizon is already testing my ability to stay awake. Peter began swinging through the city, just for fun as it was quiet out.
Sometimes I forget how fun this is. All this excitement is really helping me take my mind of- Whoops, never mind. Know I remember about her. Back to self-pity for me. Oh, Joy. Or maybe I could go hang with Harry. It's been a while since we've genuinely hanged out since he got with Gwen.
Peter called up Aunt May and told her about his plans. Harry would never lie to May as he truly respected her as an incredible person. So she knew if he told her something it was the truth. This was the same with Peter, until recently, of course. Peter was given the go-ahead by his aunt. He'd have to hang up his suit for the day as sneaking off would get him into trouble. Fortunately, he had a secret and safe stashing spot.
He got to Harry's residence in a timely manner, assuming he had taken the bus or walked. As Spider-Man, he was a bit late all things considered. After all his spot was across town, it took a while to find the perfect place.
"Hey, Pete!" Harry said, gleefully seeing his friend. He had been in a better mood since getting with Gwen. Well, his attitude was always positive. Now even higher than ever.
"Hey, lover boy!" Peter said with a cheeky grin.
Harry ignored this, still smiling. "I'm living the dream, girl of my dreams, doing well enough with my classes and no dad for the weekend again!"
"Jee wiz, he sure is busy," Peter said in a cerous tone.
"Who cares and Peter what century do you think it is? The 30s or 40s?"
"Those are decades, Harry. And I'll have you know people still talk like that."
"Such as?"
"I'll need to think about it."
"Exactly."
They got up to the penthouse as Harry went down to the lobby to meet with him.
"Anyways, how's everything with Gwen?"
"Ah, well, you know." He said, sitting on the comfy couch.
"I don't know, that's why I was asking you," Peter said, sitting, joining his friend on the couch sitting on the other side.
"It's all good."
"So, what have you two been doing together outside of school? Done the naughty yet?" Peter laughed.
Harry made some funny facial expressions that represented that something must have happened.
"Are you serious?"
"Na, we did do some making out though recently. What can I say, I'm quite the kisser! We'll be under the covers in no time."
"Way too much information."
"Well. You did ask. Only can blame your self."
"I was not looking for details like that!"
"Should I be more explicit with more details of what hot stuff we did?"
"No thank you and explicit, huh."
"Yeah, what can I say her wordiness is rubbing off on me, it's n-"
"Allow me to stop you right there. Perhaps you could share I don't know what you do besides, that area of conversation."
"Remembering the other stuff is harder, more monotonous. Another word I got from her. She still thinks I don't listen, though she is half correct. Only listen to what sounds important."
"Could you tell and listen more? You know show investment in what she's saying. Such as you do with the games we've played."
"Who's side are you on?"
"As I'm quite positive, I've already stated. I'm natural because your both my friends. Taking sides would not the best course of action for me unless some screws fell out of my head."
Harry laughed. "I know the truth. You're just scared of Gwen, arent you?"
Might as well just go with it. Peter thought. "Yes, that is exactly why," Peter said, trying his best to hide his sarcasm.
"I love her, but jeez, she's scary sometimes."
"Did you just say, the L-word?"
"What no, I miss spoke."
"Sure, I think somebody's in love!" Peter said with a grin patting his friend on the back.
"Come on. I spoke wrong man! I like her, but not love her."
"If you say so."
"I mean, your right, my favourite thing about her is how hot she is! I don't like all the big words and her rants about I don't know SJW stuff."
"She does like her big word, so do, though. And she's not into the so-called SJW stuff as you put it. She just does not like you or anyone focusing on her body or anyone first. It should be the mind, and I agree with her."
"What happened to not taking sides?"
"To be fair to you, one could say she's got a nice body. Perhaps she should have thought about that before getting with you."
"You hitting on my woman? Kidding. Say, another thing I recall, she's talked about how I don't use my riches for enough good in the world or something like that."
"Sounds like something she would say. I mean she's right, but it's not your fault Mr. Osborn likes to go his riches close. When you have access to the money, I know you'll donate to help people because you're a great person." Peter said, looking at his friend, determined.
"Thanks, Pete."
"Besides, I'm sure he's doing tons of fantastic work to better the world." He stopped himself. "Still, he really should be here more."
"I don't need him. I'm perfectly fine without him here. Talking on the phone or video chat works. Same with mom, she's here even less. Way busier than him. And I got Bernard. He's a cool guy to talk to. Did you know he was in the army?"
"I might have heard about that once or twice, yes."
"Try hundreds of times! Jeez, he's a great guy, but he repeats himself so much!"
"He's not here, right?"
"No, of course not, he's visiting family. Dad's pretty lenient with letting him."
"Now, you're repeating yourself. Already told me that before."
"Oh no, I'm getting the old disease! Remember me as I was! Tell Gwen I really liked her not loved." Harry pretended to die. The boys laughed.
"Wowe you deserve every award for that performance I was about to start shedding tears."
Harry bowed. "Thank you, and can you hear the cheering from my adoring fans."
"So um, do you think you'll ever love Gwen?"
"I don't know man."
"We've talked about this. You should be more positively clear about what you're hoping to achieve from being with her. I can see you've not gotten what you thought you'd be getting out of this."
"What's that meant to mean?"
Peter looked semi bewildered by Harry's lack of grasping what he was saying.
"We just talked about how you love her body more than her."
"I don't think I outright said that!"
"You did not outright disagree."
"What about Liz? Are sure you liked her in the first place cause of her looks."
Peter seemed a bit upset. "Sorry, might be a little soon to bring her up, huh?" Harry said, his face turning into a frown.
"It's alright. I know what you're saying. I did bring up romance, so I should have expected that. And your right Harry, I was mainly into her body. She's pretty hot." Peter chuckled softly. Harry joined him.
"I miss Liz, hope she's okay," Peter said.
"Yeah," Harry replied.
"Maybe we should just move on. You know this was meant to be a fun time between friends. Let's just play games or something."
"Yeah, good idea."
They played games for the rest of the day and night. Peter just stayed at his place for the night. They did not talk about anything else severe. They just ignored everything for the night. It would be an issue for another day, for better or worse.
So wow, this was longer than I originally intended. Thought this would be the shortest. I don't why this keeps happening to me lol. Oh well, I hope you all enjoyed my longest chapter yet! The gang war plot is getting kicked into gear with the full introduction of Silvermane and his daughter. So get ready for that. I've also set up a few other plots point and characters in this chapter, so overall, it went well, I feel anyways. Please give me criticisms of how to improve as always.
Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your day or night.
