Spider-Man approached the police, more specifically to Captain Stacy. He was, however, talking with someone else. After a minute, Stacy acknowledged Spider-Man.
"Glad your here. However, the people running this show are requesting that swat handles this issue."
"I'm here to help, I've fought against Hammerhead and seen the layout. I should go down there. It'd be less likely people would die, and I'm expendable in the eyes of the police, so sounds like win-win sending me in. Also, how have you blocked off the whole area? That's a huge amount of area to cover." Peter said, trying to be cheerful.
"It's protocol to not let masked vigilantes into police business, primarily with a stand-off involving this much of the force. And we have half the cops in the city keeping watch for blocks,"
"Oh, great. I understand. Rules are rules." Peter went closer and whispered to Stacy. "If anyone dies, I'm going in. Don't try to stop me."
"Wouldn't dream of it," Stacy whispered back.
"So, what do you do outside of work," Peter asked in an average volume. He thought this would be an excellent opportunity to play dumb and maybe learn more about Gwen's dad. Heck, maybe could learn a secret about Gwen if he was that open with sharing. It is caring after all.
Elsewhere in the city, a monumental meeting was taking place. This meeting was between the two most dangerous crime bosses in New York. It was between just Fisk and Silvermane, no other crime bosses were invited. It was likely as secure as the UN with all the guards around.
Silvermane waited for Wilson Fisk in a large room with only two seats and a small table. His daughter remained with him until the meeting began, she was not permitted to listen.
"This man shows no respect, being late," Silvermane remarked angered.
"This could be a trick to deceive you."
"No. He's trying to make a statement. He's going to keep playing dirty, this man shall show no respect for us. Does not care for the past, the people who made organized crime it is today. Fisk is a new breed of criminal, ignorant with power and promising changes. Far more sinister then me, my daughter."
"If he dares show his face in here, you should kill him on the spot for his insolence."
"That's the reason why you're not ready to take charge. We mustn't go down to his level. Respect, even to enemies, is key. I'm disappointed you can't understand that."
"What of Hammerhead? He shows a lack of respect and has lead an assault on Fisk's stashes. Currently, against the police. People will be slaughtered. This is not what you wanted, and yet you keep giving that stupid brute more chances and more respect then I get. You broke the man out of prison for god's shake!"
"As I've said. He's a means to an end. Hammerhead does the dirty work I don't intend on hearing about. It's important work that must be done to prove that we're a force to be reckoned with. You have a heart to you, I love that. Hammerhead exists, so losing the best part of you is not an option. That's the reason why I keep him. To protect you."
"Thank you, Father. However, I fear that one day he might turn on you. Stap you in the back and try to grab power."
"Him? I have no fear of Hammerhead. In the way, I have no fear of Fisk. Just annoyance."
Back with Peter and Captain Stacy, it turned out he was not very personal with a masked man. To be fair, it made complete sense. It was quite awkward standing having small talk for about ten minutes waiting for swat to breach. Peter was starting to feel sleepy with how little was going on now.
Paramedics went inside as Peter nearly closed his eyes.
"Why are they going in?" Peter asked Stacy.
"Stay put." He said, pointing at him.
I don't appreciate the pointing, I'm not a child. Technically I am.
Stacy came back quickly. "Listen," He began saying, pulling Spidey away from the ears of the others in the area. "They won't admit it, but you need to get in there. An officer was killed and multiple injured. The one that went down sacrificed themself to protect the rest of the officers. So go down into the tunnels and kick all their asses. You're going to be alone however."
"Tell you what. I'm going to take them all down. I'll be right back. Hold your breath for me. It'll take no time. Could you cause a distraction?"
"Such as?"
Spider-Man whispered something to Stacy. Then proceed to creep off.
"Alright, everyone huttle up! We need to make up a plan of action. Captain Roberto, that includes you. We need brainstorming to come up with a solid plan."
Captain Roberto was bewildered. "This is not the big game Stacy. Is this really necessary?" He still came over and did it.
"Hey, where Spider-Man?" One of the officers asked.
"Oh, I sent him away."
"Wait! He's trying to sneak in!" Another officer cried out.
A couple officers chased after him. Of course, the guy with superpowers was more beneficial at moving.
Peter rushed down the stairs back into the tunnels. They did not follow.
"Stacy, did you know what he was going to do?" The swat captain named Roberto asked.
"No, I did not."
"You better hope your friend does not screw anything up."
"Sounds like we have the same thought processing."
Spider-Man crept down in the tunnels, with how dense it was it hard to know how long until he was spotted. He stayed up on the top part of the wall. This time Peter went down where Daredevil went hoping to find his fri- ally. A friend might not be the right word for them.
Sometimes I regret my red and blues. If I was dressed like a ninja, this would be easier. Peter, though, noticing the blood. Likely from the poor officer who was shot. However, the body was gone, and there was no trail of blood. It was suspicious.
Creeping closer, he noticed a bunch of goons talking with the officer who was supposed to have died!
This is bad, really bad. That guy's a dirty cop! Crap, should I go back and warn Captain Stacy? Or should I take advantage of them being distracted? This is an immediate issue, so I should stop this before anything else excites.
Spidey swooped in trying something new. He put his hands together, creating a net with his webs as all the goons were standing together thankfully. However, it held them only briefly.
Here we go. Peter thought, springing around the room. Dodging bullets and knocking criminals out one by one. After a minute, they were defeated.
Way to easy. Why was- Peter though lapping into the air through instinct, a flashbang rolled in decorating him.
When Peter could see again, he saw The Enforcers approaching him though another tunnel inside the room.
"Great to see you guys again! I missed you three!" "Peter said overjoyed.
"Did he hit his noggin?" Montana asked, bewildered.
"He's trying to distract us! Get em!" Dan yelled.
Spider-Man dodged gunfire while saying. "Hey! I am scenically happy to see you all! More so then Hammerhead!"
Dan was treated to a swift punch by to the face by Spidey stopping the gunfire. "Could we try to have a reasonable conversion? Enemy of my enemy is my friend, anyone?"
Ox responded by trying to grab Peter. "Guess not, huh?" Spider-Man kicked Ox into a wall. "You all keep doing the same tricks. Get some new material!"
"Your right," Montana said, surprising Peter. "Fine, we'll try your way."
"Great, tell me where Daredevil is. Or I'll have to beat you all up."
"Tight spaces are not suitable for us. They seem to befit you and your dammed reflexes."
"Jealous? Stop avoiding the question. Where is he?"
"What does it matter anyway?"
"He's my friend. Maybe one-sided. I'm not going to forget about him for my convenience."
Montana grunted. "The boys took him to the boss. We have the side with the secret tunnel inside of the secret tunnel. Boss was paranoid for a good reason it would seem. Anyways, apparently, the guy was dizzy, so taking him down was easy. We saw him off and came to check on the situation with Hammerhead finding you. He'll live, for now. Bossman won't want him dead just like that."
"Wonderful. Could I convince the goodness in you to tell me where to find him?"
"No. We take down Hammerhead, then back to traditional business."
"Why must we go traditional? It sounds dull to me. Being progressive is good. Sharing important info with your enemies is very kind to do."
"I'm not dumb like Ox."
"Hey!" Ox interjected upset getting up from the ground.
"Oh, it's alright, pal. I don't mean that."
Ox crossed his arms and mumbled to himself.
"Perhaps you should be kinder to your friend," Spidey said in a nudging tone.
"Shut your trap." Dan snarled, getting up as well rubbing his head. "You got me, good kid."
"That was my intention. So, what do we do now?"
"We make a plan to take him out," Montana said.
"Down. Not out. I know what that refers to," Peter replied, determined.
"Him or us kid."
"If killing is on the table, this truce ends early."
"Fine. No killing, boys." Montana said.
Dan groaned, and Ox seemed natural on the matter.
"Let's just get this over with," Dan said, pissed off.
The four of them went close and discussed the plan.
I can't believe I'm working with these clowns. Peter thought, half-listening to the plans being discussed.
A few minutes later, The Enforcers walked over to Hammerhead's side.
"We wish to discuss a compromise," Montana said, walking toward them first.
One of the guards was confused and went to speak before being pushed aside by Hammerhead.
"Oh, this is rich. You boys have given up! Why should I just not smoke you right now?" The enforcers got large Tommy guns pointed in their faces by Hammerhead.
Dan walked up. "We all need a way out. Right?
"I and my boys are going to blast our way out!"
A goon piped up. "I don't think we can do that, sir."
"Bah!" Hammerhead replied. "You have no imagination. We got enough bullets and bombs and stuff to blast them all to kingdom come!" Hammerhead laughed.
"Alright, we can do it together. Think of the more bodies, the less likely chance you'll die." Montana said.
"I don't like the feeling I'm getting. You're trying to trick me!" The four of them went up the stairs.
"I know Spider-Man or that Daredevil are down here! We've got unfinished business!" Hammerhead shouted, keeping his guns trained on them.
Spider-Man stayed in the dark part of the tunnel, waiting.
Meanwhile, above ground, the police were getting impatient.
"We need to move in again." The swat captain argued.
"We need to wait them out. Going on got a man killed." Stacy replied.
Another captain chimed in. "We need to smoke them out. They'll come to us."
"And if it does not work?"
"At least we tried something. Stacy, what do you think?"
"It wouldn't hurt. Unless Spider-Man-"
"What would he do besides screw everything up farther." The captain said, going off to discuss the details with the swat.
Stacy walked away and tried to call Spider-Man.
Pick up dammit. Stacy thought.
Peter tried to be sneaky, but his phone ringing was not helping him. He quickly turned it off.
"Hey! Someone check that racket!" Hammerhead roared.
Two guards came to search what was happening.
Spider-Man held his breath, despite that not doing anything beneficial for him. The guards walked past him as he was just above their eyesight ranges. Peter slipped down silently and webbed their heads together. They became introduced to each other's other heads. Spidey knocked them out with a double kick to the back. As a result, he fell down.
Good thing nobody saw me fall. That was embarrassing. He thought getting back on the ceiling heading towards Hammerhead and his goons.
"So, your surrender." Hammerhead began saying.
"We are not surrendering when we assist you in killing all the cops surrounding the area we go our separate ways," Montana said.
"I was just playing boys." He pat Montana on the shoulder. "Of course, we'll have no bullets left when the smoke clears!"
"Say, why even attack us, huh?" Dan asked.
Hammerhead put his Tommy Guns in the air. "I don't know. Something about sending a message. I didn't ask for all the details. Just wanted to cause mayhem, you know?"
"So that's it? Just wanted to cause a headache for us?" Dan asked furiously. Montana held him back naturally. Hammerhead did not even clue in.
"I admit, I'm not the smartest fella around. Even I could tell this was meant to show off something more vital."
"Meaning what?" Montana asked.
Before a response could be spoken aloud, someone called out, saying, "We got trouble! The cops are popping smoke!"
"Guess we need to put all plans into action now, gentlemen."
"Agreed," Montana said. Then let out a great sigh. "Gee whiz."
"Hey pals!" Spidey said, grinning underneath his mask for the fact Montana used his signal. Peter entered the room from above, webbing a couple goons to the ceiling.
"Dammit, it all! I knew he was here!" Hammerhead shouted, firing at Spider-Man.
Ox gripped Hammerhead and threw him across the room. "He was very rude!" Ox chirped. "That felt good!"
Hammerhead was not down for the count yet, getting back up angry. "Why I otta! He exploded shooting at Ox. Peter pushed him out of the way. "I'll kill every last one you! Starting with the big boy!" Bullets continued to fly.
"Thank you for saving me, little man," Ox said while ducking to the ground.
"I'm not done yet, big guy." Peter retorted back, getting up, dogging all the bullets in their direction. Grappling on to a loose light poll kicking Hammerhead in the chest. Getting knocked against the wall again cause it to creak a little.
"You think you're so tough? I'm going to kill you!"
"Could you please say something not generic for once in your life, please?" Spider-Man was met with the skull of Hammerhead hitting his chest. Knocking him back now.
"I'm going to mount you on my wall!"
"There you go!" Peter coughed, injured. "Something less generic, yet it makes no sense. Unless you mean-"
Hammerhead charged at Peter once more. Montana wrapped his whip around Hammerhead's waste and began shocking him. Dan protected his friend from someone attempting to fire at him, knocking her out cold.
Ox gripped onto Hammerhead once more as Peter webbed him up. Montana let his whip loose and got back to fighting off the thugs.
"Nice work, Ox!" Peter put his hand out for a high five.
Ox was confused but returned the high five.
"I'm not used to getting that. Or anything positive from my friends."
"Well, they don't seem like that good of pals then. You're a swell guy, apart from being a criminal, of course."
Dan and Montana used non-lethal means to dispatch Hammerhead's goons with the help of Spider-Man. They were back to back fighting off the crocks. Webbing was used to blind them as Ox join in the knock all the goons out
However, smoke poured into the room.
"We need to get out of here! Dan called out to his friends, preparing to leave out their exit.
"Wait! What about them! They'll die with all this smoke!" Spider-Man cried out.
"Who cares! Your lucky we're letting you live. Till next time kid." Montana and Dan went off. Ox, however, stayed behind for a moment.
"I wish that I could help you, they'd get mad at me though."
"It's fine big guy. Thank you."
"I can tell you where they took your friend though. It was to the boss's tower. Floor 29, I think."
"Gee, thank you Ox. You are a good man at your core." He smiled and ran off to be with his friends.
Spider-Man though past all the smoke and started to bring all the thugs upstairs always from the smoke. Including an unconscious Hammerhead.
He was quickly met by the cops.
"Free!" A couple of them cried.
"Wait! I knocked them all, I'm trying to get them all out before the smoke kills them! It's not airing out!"
"How can we trust you? You could be trying to lure us into a trap."
"Radio Captain Stacy. He'll tell you I'm trustworthy, hurry!"
They listened to what he was saying and radioed him walking slightly away. Peter tied up the goon while they talked to Stacy. They came back quickly.
"The calvery is on the way. How can we help in the meantime?" One of the two officers asked.
"Well, I'm going to need help carrying these guys out. Try not to throw out your backs!" Spider-Man said, running down the stairs, starting to carry them out. Starting with Hammerhead.
As the more police came, the faster the goons got carried to safety. Around a hundred officers were swarming the area now. It was amiably overkill for these particular circumstances.
After a couple minutes, all the goons were brought to safety and were tied up awaiting transportation for the slammer.
"Good work, Spider-Man." Captain Stacy said to Peter.
"Thank you, Captain. Oh! You should have your people check the room on the other side of the tunnel. There is another-"
"I'm aware son, police cleared the room, only to find all the criminals gone, and the tunnel collapsed."
"Darn. I admit, though, I don't think I could've beat Hammerhead and all his goons without The Enforcers. Maybe if I had more experience and the element of surprise."
"Shocked they saved you. Tried to kill you not even a week ago."
"Well, the enemy of my enemy, you know. Anywho, all that matters is Ox told me what happen to Daredevil. It also turns out he's not a bad guy. That bad, I should say. Now, could you get your people to storm Fisk tower and save him? Cause they have him. And they are going to kill him."
"No. Again, no evidence. We would need a warrant and his tower is enormous."
"He's on floor 29. Does that help?"
"Nobody in their right mind would sign off on raiding a building off of a brute's intel. If it could even be called that."
"Let's say hypothetically that someone happened to break into that building to save a grumpy and ungrateful buddy. Would such an action be unlawful?"
"If that proposed action was to occur. It would be unwise to be caught. Mind you, if any distinctly illegal activities were going on, they'd be unable to report it. An investigation would need to be opened after all. And one might wish another person good luck with such an action. Of course, that's all hypothetically."
"Of course, sir. Say, look at the time. Have to go, I'll be in touch." Spider-Man swung off as police vans showed up finally to bring Hammerhead back to prison.
Unknown to Spider-Man, police and Hammerhead himself. Silvermane expected him to be arrested once more. With all the cops swarming the area, it was manageable to get fakes driving the van with Hammerhead and a few of his people.
So, they had different plans of where he was heading. To a safe house to lay low. The plan was ultimately successful for Silvermane. He got just what he needed from all of this.
As Silvermane continued to wait for Fisk, he got a call about the events that unfolded going into the bathroom to avoid his daughter and anyone else for that matter.
"Status?"
"We've got him and some of his crew. The rest are going to prison, no doubt about that."
"Good, with fewer recourses he'll be less likely to do anything idiotic. Make sure to keep him at the safe house until further notice. Tie him up if you must. If my daughter figures out I planned for him to go through with this attack, she'd be furious. Among every other motive I have for him." Silvermane shook his head. "And remember, dammit, don't let him leave without my say so!" Silvermane hung up.
He came out of the bathroom to be informed by a guard, Wilson Fisk was on his way upstairs.
His daughter waited for him.
"Father, I'm concerned about how much you go to the washroom. We should ask the doctors if something is wrong."
"Not to worry, I'll be fine. Just what happens when you're old." He laughed, and they walked to the meeting area. Preparing along with all the guards of both parietes entering the room staring intently with one another. Heads at the holster, ready to fire their weapons.
The elevator began to ding with Fisk's coming up.
As always, I hope you all enjoyed the latest chapter and doing well. Next up is an assault on Fisk tower and the meeting I'm sure you've been waiting for.
