Peter stood in complete shock, unable to move for a moment trying to process what happened. Liz. She's snapped and the police would be on their way. It was terrifying, but Peter got his composure back, remembering how he failed to help Mark by not talking things out enough.

I'm not going to make that mistake again. He thought to himself, tightening his whole body, looking down at Jamie and hearing an ambulance coming. "You're going to be okay and so is she," Peter said determined, now running after her. This is really bad, how could this happen? Is it my fault? Focus Peter, focus. I gotta hurry.

It didn't take long for him to catch up, quite fast in fact as she seemed to only be walking to wherever her end stop was.

Spidey came up a few feet behind her. "Hey, uh, are you hurt at all, ms?" He said, not really sure as to where to begin talking her down.

"Buzz off." She replied softly, continuing to walk.

"More like swing off, sorry." He stopped, remembering now might not be the best time for joking out loud.

She turned to him, starting to glow more. "Back. Away."

"Right, yeah, this is me backing away." He said raising his hands up and backing up.

"Put your hands down, I just wanna be left alone, I'm not a bad person."

Peter immediately put them down and got a little closer again. "You don't seem like a bad person at all. Where are you heading?"

Liz looked back, glowing again more. "I said, stay back!" She accidentally let out a blast knocking back Peter and a few cars. "I didn't mean to do that."

"I know, I've seen enough to tell of an accident, let's just relax a bit huh?" Spider-Man said getting back up, keeping his distance now.

"You're afraid."

"No, I'm just getting better at listening. Not afraid at all."

"Maybe you should, I'm a monster, I might have killed my boyfriend. Blow up a part of my building, what kind of a person does that?" She asked looking back, starting to get more relaxed.

"Well, for one he's alive and two, maybe you got scared? Did somebody hurt you? Threaten you, seems like a good reason to get a little angry you know?" He tried his best to get her to get through to her, able to tell that something was deeply wrong and anger was going through her head, all bottled up.

She didn't answer and instead kept walking.

"Hey, uh, don't you wanna take a little break? Talk a little?" Peter continued to plead.

Unfortunately, some more of that wonderful luck happened, as the police started coming along towards her, a couple of cars.

"No, no, no." The glowing came back. "Did you call them? Trying to get me arrested like my brother?"

"No! Of course not and I'm sorry, I sent your brother to jail? I swear it wouldn't have been internally, I messed up a lot you know? Messing up is my specialty, I didn't mean to do it!" Peter said trying his best to put himself down to in theory make Liz happier, but this didn't really work out as she blasted him, thankfully Spider-Sense warned him. On the other hand, it was bad that it was detecting Liz as a threat.

The fire started forming around her now as she walked down the street, which caused the police to begin backing up.

This is bad, really really bad. Come on, think. He told himself angered. Not doing the last resource yet, I'm good at talking to people right? I've got a charm about me, I hope.

Peter rushed after Liz, soon enough a fire started, not big, but it would be growing if he didn't do something. Oh but of course.

He quickly found a fire hydrant and started putting out the flames quickly, putting the fire out, as fast as it started. Easy. Crap. Why did I say that? Whenever I say something is easy, that means things will not be easy. I need to stop talking. Gotta get Liz.

Peter started swinging after her, fortunately, her path was quite obvious, unfortunately, it was as obvious to the police following along as well. Sure enough, he found Liz and could hear the police coming along too.

"Hey, uh, what's your name? It was quite rude of me to not ask huh?" Peter asked coming near her again.

"Liz, Allen."

"Could I call you Liz then?"

She nodded and kept walking.

"I don't mean to worry you or anything, but I do hear some police cars coming along. Could be unrelated, but it's possible to be a bit confused and think you could be doing something bad, which I know isn't the case at all."

Liz turned her head back. "I'm breaking my brother who you locked up out of prison then we're going to leave this stupid city for good."

Spidey stopped and laughed nervously softly. "You're kidding right? No you're probably not, bad question."

"Yes it was. If you want to stop-"

"No, no, no, I don't want to stop you, Liz. Could we come to a compromise at least? You know I feel the police might be angry is all."

"They'll have to kill me, to stop me from freeing my brother."

Peter's face under his mask got more nervous. "Let's not talk about killing, nobody is going to die today."

"Why do you care?"

"You are a good caring person and don't deserve to die. Or go to jail. Or have anything bad happening to you for that matter!" He said bluntly.

Before she could question further, more police and fire trucks started pulling closer.

"Listen, just uh, stay put and I'll get them to leave you alone, do you trust me?" Peter asked.

"No." She replied.

"Fair enough." He replied and swung off quickly to the blockade being set up. "Hey, you wouldn't be planning on shooting that innocent person would you?"

"Unless it becomes necessary, no of course not." One officer who seemed to be in charge said.

"Define necessary?"

"If they intend on starting any more fires or explosions." They replied.

"Okay, well, I personally think their calming down, I spoke to them a little bit and everything seems to be a bit better."

The officer looked Spider-Man down. "You're lying."

"I'm not lying!" He replied, in an obviously badly said tone.

"You better get her to surrender."

"Why me? Doesn't you have anyone who's good at talking people down?"

He shrugged. "Firstly I'm not putting my people in danger, secondly you got to speak to her, thirdly-"

"Alright, alright, I'll do it," Peter replied sighing, knowing Spider-Man wouldn't be able to stop this potential rampage. As she felt a lot of hate towards him clearly after having her brother sent to jail.

He turned back and to his shock, she had vanished. "Uh, excuse me, where did she go!" Peter questioned them.

All the police looked confused.

"She was just there a second ago!" One exclaimed.

Crap. Double crap in fact! Peter swung to where she just was, feeling a trail. Seems like she found out a brand new power. At least I know her end destination.

Peter moved fast pushing his limits he knew getting to Liz was critical it was the only chance to get her out of this mess. The clock was ticking, time wasn't on their side.

Come on Peter move your body faster Liz is counting on me. Well maybe not, she's pretty pissed, no she needs help even if she won't admit it.

Soon enough, Peter spotted Liz again approached the prison where her brother was being held, it's security was not a joke, this had to end now.

"Stop!" Peter shouted.

Liz grunted angered. "Leave. Me. Alone!" She shouted right back starting to glow again.

Peter let out a massive sigh. "I've tried being nice to you Liz, but I'm not going to let you die, I won't."

"Why exactly should you care? You locked up my brother, went after my now ex and you're going to try stopping me. I'm bad in your eyes. It's how it's gotta be, I'm going to help my brother and you going to have to stop me." Liz replied.

"No, Mark wouldn't want this, I know he wouldn't!" Peter exclaimed.

"And how would you know that?" She questioned confused.

Peter looked around where they were standing, thankfully nobody was around it was a closed-off area, but close to a very open area. It was a risk, but it had to be done. Spider-Man pulled up his mask a bit looking at Liz. "You told me about him. How good of a person he is and that he didn't deserve what happened. Your right."

"Your, oh my god, your Spider-Man?" She asked with tears in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry Liz." He replied, also having some tears. "I wanted to tell you, to explain. It hurt me keeping it, but you hated Spider-Man and well, me. Would knowing really have helped anything?" He asked.

"I would've known why you've stayed away, why you ignored me so much. So what, it was guilt? This? Going out fighting bad guys every day? This is what you do?" She asked.

Peter nodded. "Yes, this is my life." He put back on his mask. Keeping this secret has done more harm than good at times, I'll admit that. I'm so sorry Liz, for letting you down. I screwed up bad, I hurt you and I hurt Mark. It was all a terrible mistake, I'm sorry for screwing up. Please just, we need to stop. I don't want you to get hurt. If you break him out there isn't any coming back from it. You could die!" He pleaded.

Liz fell to the ground with a nod. "What's happened to me? To my life. This is crazy, like oh my god." She laughed.

"Hey, it'll be okay. You made a mistake, but this is going to be fine. We just need to get you out of here." Peter said.

She shook her head. "The police are going to know, you know they aren't stupid. A girl on fire fitting how I look in my apartment hurting my ex-boyfriend. There isn't a way out. I'm going to jail Peter, I'm screwed."

"Hey, hey don't talk like that, we're going to get you out of this. Surely we're going to find some way out of this mess, I'm going to help you." Peter promised, at least wanted to.

Liz continued shaking her head. "Your a hero and helping me get away with a crime wouldn't be right. I'm going to get punished one way or another right? So shouldn't I just surrender to them? I don't know."

"Yeah. Some hero I am. I'm letting you down when you need me most right now. Peter Parker screwed up everything, now Spider-Man is too." He said sadly.

"Didn't realize how much you beat yourself up. Jezz Pete, it's kinda impressive." She joked laughing slightly.

Police sirens started coming by.

"Crap, they most have seen smoke coming off you or something. I hoped there would be more time." Peter said.

With a shrug, Liz started walking away. "Seems perfect for our relationship's end, isn't it? Not enough time available. It's like poetry or something right?" She joked again.

Peter ran up to her. "I'm sorry for not doing more and being a better friend. You have no idea how much I wanted to be. And more than that."

"I can see clearly now for the first time in months, why anyone has acted the way they did. You did all that you could've. I'm sorry for treating you so crap."

Peter shook his head rapidly. "No, no, you've got nothing to be sorry for. I treated you badly, being Spider-Man isn't the best excuse I have. It isn't one realistically speaking."

"I want you to know, I did care about you a lot, you were a good guy after all. Wish we had more time, get to know each other better. Then we did, maybe one day? Will you visit me in, you know." She asked.

Peter put his hand out. "I promise I will Liz Allen, I won't forget you. I swear that."

She grabbed onto his hand. "Thank you, Peter Parker. Your secret is safe with me until the day I die nobody is going to know who you are, wish they could see the true person that you are inside. People are missing out, whenever you find somebody special, that's going to be one lucky person."

They walked out slowly holding hands softly before letting go once getting close to the police's view. Spider-Man stood in front of Liz putting up his hands.

"She's going to turn herself in, all this has been one massive mistake and it's not her fault! So please don't hurt her. You don't want to get on my bad side right now, trust me." He said confidently and seriously, which the officers clearly understood approaching slowly and carefully.

Peter knew one of them. Captain Watanabe, which he had met early in the night. Which made her remember how crazy of a day he had thinking about it.

"Hello again Captain, please and I'm dead serious tell whoever you have to, she wasn't responsible for this whole mess. Whatever she got exposed to messed with her mind or something, just tell whoever that. She's a good person and doesn't deserve jail time."

The captain nodded. "I get where you're coming from, unfortunately, my word won't mean as much as we'd both like. I'll try my best."

Peter tried going up to Liz while she got escorted to a police van, but Watanabe stopped him. "Your going to make it harder on yourself. And her. Sorry kid, your going to have to back off, let us do our job." She told him.

Peter sat on the ground in defeat. "Fine. You win."

"I appolgize for how this is going down. Not the best first impression. Huh?"

Spider-Man for once didn't have a response and just left as Liz was taken away.

Nothing was really on the old wall crawer's mind for the next hour, he mindlessly swung for NYC hoping he would wake up, that all this night was a very, very long nightmare. Of course, that wasn't the case.

Finally he stopped in an abandoned building which didn't have anybody around and started breaking parts angered, unable to think. When the blind rage at last stopped, the first though in his mind was of Mary Jane, so he called her.

"Peter? What's going on? I saw a lot was going on, but I don't understand it all, are you alright? I'm very concerned." She said.

He hastated to respond. "I, Liz, I let her down, bad."

"What happened? Talk to me, Peter." She asked very concernedly.

"I-I don't really want to speak about it over the phone. I'm like so close to just losing it here honestly." He admitted.

"Okay, please come here. And be safe." MJ said.

Peter nodded putting his fist right through a wall. "Right, I'll be there soon. Thank you, Mary Jane." He continued hitting the wall hurting his fists a bit. You really screwed up this time Pete, god, did you ever. How could I have let this happen? After those thoughts, he finally left heading to MJ's house.

Once again, poor Peter Parker's mind was blank again as he swung over there basically on autopilot. As Peter got there he took off his mask and seemed distort by everything that had happened to him. The toll was damaging and MJ could tell clearly.

"Liz is going to prison, she's almost over 18 so she's doomed, right? Old Spidey has screwed her over and her brother. And her boyfriend doesn't seem alright either."

"Don't think like that. Whatever happened, it's clear Liz wasn't doing great. And you tried your best. You were there for her and tried to be Spider-Man and Peter Parker for her. Don't beat yourself up, sometimes things just don't work out. You did everything right."

Peter nodded unsurely and looked at the time. "Oh god, I should get home, I'm going to get in trouble. Just what I need."

"No, you can stay here. I want to help you and you clearly need it. Everyone needs help sometimes, even Spider-Man. We'll tell Aunt May you stayed here if she asks, whatever we'll think of the whole excuse later. Come on, sit down."

He did awkwardly, they sat next to each other for a moment before Peter finally broke down and started hugging MJ staying in her arms felt much better, safe and sound. Like all the pain he was feeling had finally stopped all thanks to her. They both knew it was going to be a long night, but having each other's comfort helped.

Hey, I'm alive, lol and I wanted to thank all the brand new readers, it's pretty crazy seeing the increase in how many of you all enjoy this series. This chapter was a bit darker than usual. I can promise they will be some more fun and a surprise hero or two in the coming ones after. Along with more serious moments of course, I just felt this was the only logical place for this payoff to happen regarding Liz, I've been thinking of it for 2 years I believe. I finally did it. (Wrote that section in june 2021, the rest is March 2022)

So I finally posted, which is crazy. I've sat in this chapter for a long time now as I wanted to write the next one first and get my plan in order. That didn't work out so well, so expect another posting next chapter which is finished and I'll be posting it in a couple of weeks. It's going to be a big one as right now I'm thinking of some changes, but we'll see if that stays for the time I post the next chapter. I'm glad to be back writing again and it has been a long time coming. Can't say if this will last, but I'm feeling hopeful to get back on track to finish off the Crime Master Arc. Hope it was all worth the wait. Thanks for sticking around and waiting.
