Peter had been waiting almost two weeks for any real leads on where Ned Leeds would be striking next against the Kingpin, the hits in joints apparently owned by him only continued and Spidey was trying his best to keep up. On the brightside, all these attacks on Kingpin seemed to be making what was left of his operations crumble to the ground. It was a shame Daredevil appeared to still not be around to see the entire life of his sworn enemy being knocked around.
While he kept an eye out, he'd be spending more time with MJ, like right now they decided on hanging out at central park as it was the weekend.
"Feels nice relaxing at the park. It's been so hectic lately I've really needed some relaxation time. Could fall asleep right here, without a care in the world." Peter remarked happily and relaxed.
"Yes and it's even better getting to do it together." MJ replied.
"It sure is, nothing could possibly ruin our moment together, I'm glad to be with you too MJ." Peter said cheerfully.
"Didn't you say it was cursed to say things like that?" MJ pointed out to him sarcastically
Peter's face turned pale. "Oh your right, I'm screwed aren't I?" He said taking the curse or jinx more seriously. "Please smack me every time I say something like that."
"Oh come on, do you seriously believe it's true?" She genuinely asked.
He nodded so fast he could've flown away. "Yes, it's true MJ! Everytime I make a comment the universe hears it and decides to ruin my day. It's all true and honestly kinda freaky stuff."
MJ rolled her eyes at him. "You honestly believe that to be true? You must be joking right now."
"I've never been more serious, I know I believe a lot in science, but when crap like this happens, I start to believe crazier things exist in the world. Maybe even Satan has it out for me, who's to say!" He exclaimed, hoping he was joking about the last part.
"That'd never happen, I'm sure Crime Master and my father are taking a day off. They really should, it's a beautiful day out here." She replied not taking Peter seriously.
"Oh you're making it worse now, like oh how beautiful it is and how they'd be out of their minds to not take a day off. Now whatever is going to happen it'll be even worse!" Peter exclaimed, while looking around nervous and then heard some sirens zooming across the street.
"Oh boy, what'd I say? We jinxed it!" Peter said, slapping his face.
MJ looked surprised. "Maybe it's not something Spider-Man is needed for?" She suggested hopeful with a smile.
The universe appeared to disagree as more emergency responders kept on coming down the street.
"My luck, aliens are invading, with all the jinxing we did, I'd not be shocked by lt. Oh maybe Hydra is attacking the city again, having a grand epic battle with the Avengers and yours truly steps into their mess. Oh, or it's a cat stuck in a tree and then I'll be right back!" Peter said jokingly standing up. "Looks like a job for me."
Mary Jane sighed. "Yeah, looks like you've gotta have, your great power must also come with a great responsibility and all of that. I know, I'll see you later on Peter. WIsh I could be out there to help you, that'd be pretty cool. And I'd just love it being able to help you in Spidey troubles"
"I can agree completely on that, it'd be spectacular if you could come with me. I'd totally miss you a lot less." He admitted.
"Thank you Peter." She replied.
Before he swung off now suited up he looked back at her. "And hey, you do always help, maybe not physically, but I always believe I can do anything the world throws at me when I'm thinking about you MJ." He said looking at her and swung off.
She smiled and waved at him.
Spider-Man followed all the commotion finding a street being blocked off by police and a building being cornered. Captain Stacy was there leading the change and the whole ordeal seemed like a major deal, no doubt it was Crime Master.
He landed in front of Stacy. "Hey, what's going on. I was enjoying the lovely day out and then I saw we're having a party without me and I just can't resist it!" Peter remarked looking around, spotting a swat team getting ready for action.
"I was hoping you'd show up, it's Crime Master as you no doubt expect and it looks like we're in major trouble. This is where Wilson Fisk is being held up, Crime Master brought along, Looter, Tombstone, some thugs and of course Mac Gargon. This is it, it seems like Ned Leed's revenge is out to commence." Stacy explained.
"Unless a red and blue clad hero arrives to save the day." Peter replied.
"Fisk's in the penthouse, you can't miss it. Somehow we did after extensive searches for this man, he's very good at keeping a low profile." Stacy remarked.
Peter looked at him. "Don't blame yourself, if you are. We're going to get him. Fisk and Crime Master once and for all today. Good thing I prepared myself some extra tough webbing today! Wish me luck." He leaped onto the building and started running up it.
"I want all teams on standby! Get ready for trouble, we're playing support for Spider-Man. We're out gunned here, set up a box around this building. I don't want anyone getting out besides Spider-Man and civilians. Prepare yourselves for the worst!" He sighed and looked at Spidey scaling the building. "Good luck Spider-Man. I've got a feeling you're going to need it." He said to himself.
Spider-Man busted through the window of the penthouse, finding some goons hiding behind some made up barcades. "Oh! Trying to hide are we, looks like I might be intruding on something aren't I? Silly me!" He exclaimed while avoiding bullets ducking for cover. Really hope this is the last batch of Ned's goon squad. Peter thought, pulling away guns as soon as the bad guys pecked out and processed to take them all down without much trouble. More trouble came as Tombstone took advantage of the distraction grabbing the hero and throwing him out the window.
"Come on lady! Are you trying to kill me!?" He exclaimed furious.
"Yeah I am!" She shouted at the balcony and got shot at by snipers, but it naturally did nothing to her considering her skin being so tough.
They kept on firing even as Spider-Man rushed back up. "Hey watch where you're shooting! Try not to hit me please!" He exclaimed, glaring over at the police who continued on firing. Captain Stacy had to inform them to stop.
Spider-Man leaped back up and kicked Tombstone back. "Ready for round 2?"
She cracked her knuckles. "The Kingpin is about to die, I'm not going to let you interfere with the charging of the leadership. The King dies today." She declared.
"Oh that's not good, sounds like I don't have time to tangle with you then." Spidey remarked and leaped over their head rushing to where his spider sense was detecting danger, finding his three other enemies holding the Kingpin at their mercy. "Ah ha, there you are Willy." Peter said to himself and rushed over to them.
The Crime Master turned to Looter. "Kill him now."
He nodded and rushed at Spider-Man shoving him back into Tombstone's grasp.
"Oh this isn't good." Spider-Man said looking up at her and got a very tight grab starting to hurt him. "Ouch." He started to break loose and then as he did, realized he'd have to fight off both Looter and Tombstone now. "Crummy."
In the room where Peter had attempted to enter, The Crime Master looked at Wilson Fisk intently seeing the injuries down to him by his allies, mostly Gargon and then started to hurt his head using his powers.
"How does it feel, Fisk? Being powerless, at the mercy of someone whom you wronged in the past. Two people you've wronged. It's pitiful seeing the great Kingpin of Crime like this and quite enjoyable." Ned said cocky.
Fisk stared at him. "I've dealt with worse than you, I'm not scared of you. If your intention is to get fear out of me. You'll fail. Either you kill me or I get taken in by the NYPD and locked up in Rikers Prison for the rest of my life. I doubt my legal team will be able to get me off all my charges." He informed The Crime Master.
"Oh please, you've got a lot of loyal people. Even if you ended up in prison, you'd be running the place and be plotting your next moves. Killing you and destroying every part of your assists will ensure your legacy will die. Then, I'll be paying a visit to your son. Maybe he'll go into a coma for the rest of his life, like his mother." Ned sinisterly suggested to him with a smirk, enjoying every moment of having his revenge.
"You're enjoying this, why is it so personal, I don't even know who you are." Fisk said in response, curious of his enemy.
Ned pulled off his mask. "Now do you know?"
"Ah, the reporter. I've heard of you. Impressive work, all to throw it away to have a shot at me. What exactly did I do to you?" Questioned Fisk.
With an angry sigh, Ned continued speaking. "Your people killed my wife in a gangwar, caught in the crossfire of your insanity. My family died with her, my dreams of having a family and watching my children grow. Both you and Silvermane had children, families. While being complete scum, you get a family and everything you want with no care for all of those who you've harmed." He said furiously.
"That's what it's all about? How pitiful. I've lost everything too, my son can't stand the sight of me and my wife is gone. She's the one who brought me down this pointless path. Do you really think I wanted to be The Kingpin? Or that this is the first sob story I've heard about a broken life? You aren't anything new nor special Mr. Leeds Get over it." Kingpin replied not to be bothered and Gargon then grabbed him by the throat, not able to lift him however.
"And me, you turned me into this monster, ruined my life! You and Jameson, you'll both be playing with your lives!" He exclaimed as his face turned more monstrous.
Kingpin again looked unphased. "You did this to yourself Gargon, perhaps you should've used more of your empty head?" He proposed.
"Very funny, how about I break your neck!" He countered and then felt his head begin to feel a lot of pain.
"Scorpion, remember we don't want him dead just yet. All in due time, we should make him suffer more first before the final blow." The Crime Master reminded him.
He growled and let him go. "Fine, we're making him suffer then I kill him!"
"Sounds like an excellent idea." Ned replied.
As Scorpion let go webs attached to his back and he got flug backwards right into Spider-Man's waiting fist, but even getting the drop on him didn't do that much to his foe. Thankfully Looter and Tombstone were down, but Scorpion would be a much more challenging opponent to face against.
"Hey Scorpion buddy, don't you remember when you were a police officer? Wasn't that nice? And wouldn't it be nice to get cured? If you don't kill me, I'd suspect you'd have a much larger chance for that." Peter suggested.
"I'd rather end your life so I never have to hear you napping on again!" He replied, swinging his tail at Spider-Man.
He sighed. "I'd really rather not fight you again, you're kinda scary."
"Oh I'll show you scary!" He shouted, swinging his tail again and shot out acid nawroly hitting Peter. Then launched himself at him crashing through the wall missing, but making a giant hole.
"Scorpion! Get Looter free now!" The Crime Master exclaimed putting back on his mask and staring at Spider-Man making him fall to the ground in pain.
"Fine, then I'll be crushing this bug once and for all!" He said and ripped the webbing off of Looter.
"What about me!" Tombstone said, trying her best to break loose from the extra tight webbing formula Peter whipped up, unfortunately its downside meant he'd have to switch cartridges sooner.
Crime Master glanced over at her. "Forget her! She'd be a problem anyways."
Tombstone continued trying to break loose furious for the betrayal.
While all the commotion happened, Spider-Man managed to raise his hand webbing Ned's face and knocked his head against the wall. Now the powers gave weight, he then kicked Ned for good masseuse and hopped into the room with Fisk.
"Don't worry Kingpin, unfortunately I've been stuck with guard duty today. Lucky for you and less so for me." He said preparing to grab him, but jumped out of the way as Scorpion shot acid charging at him.
"Doing a grand job, fool." Kingpin replied and went through the hole made in the wall as Gargan was distracted fighting Spider-Man and Crime Master was still down.
Scorpion noticed Fisk escaping and smacked Spidey into a wall chasing after his target angered.
"Really hope I won't have any lasting bruises for Graduation." Peter remarked getting back up, shaking off some debris on his suit and chased after Scorpion, webbing him, holding him back from getting closer to Fisk. "Can you please stop trying so hard to kill him? I can't believe you're making me waste so much energy on stopping you!"
Scorpion kept on swinging his tail angered.
As the tail continued swinging, Spider-Man took a risk grabbing a hold of it and used all of this strength throwing him though another wall making him begin falling out of the building, but held on tight stopping his fall.
"Are you done yet?" Spider-Man said, sighing.
"Not a chance freak!" He said leaping back up, grabbing poor Spidey's throat and hitting him into the ground.
Spider-Man coughed. "Oh yeah, I'm a freak."
He kept on hitting into the ground and surprisingly help arrived from an unexpected source, Kingpin used his strength to punch Scorpion, getting him off Spider-Man long enough for him to lift up his legs kicking his face and then kicking him back out of the window. Naturally Peter didn't want him to fall, so he caught him in a web. Unfortunately the temporary help from Fisk didn't last as he took the chance of Spider-Man being distracted punching him and pushing him out the window. Making him and Scorpion began to fall. Spider-Man grabbed a hold on the wall desperately getting on it and tried to web Scorpion to safety, but it didn't work as he still hit the ground as he was out. On top of that, Peter didn't get enough stick to the building and hit the ground hard, but he'd live.
Scorpion survived too thanks to Peter's attempts of caughting him, but wasn't going to get up for a bit which worked well for the police having to transport him back to prison.
Spider-Man looked furious by Fisk's attempt on taking them both out and rushed back up the building spotting him again. He switched out his webbing first and hopped up in front of him. "After all that Willy you still tried to kill me, come on!"
"You're still an annoyance. And I was hoping I'd kill you both." He turned to him trying to punch him wildly. "Stand still! Fight me! Man to man! You took away the empire my late wife wanted built! You won't get away with that!"
Spider-Man avoided the punches hopping on the ceiling. "I've learnt a thing or two about fighting bad guys. You're not such a threat to me anymore." He said kicking him back. "And I can tell you're not as much of a big boy anymore. So that definitely helps too with my kicking your butt." He webbed up Fisk. "On top of that, I have better webbing now! Until I run out again soon." He muttered to himself.
He left Fisk and went searching for Crime Master, along with MJ's dad. Both of them seemed like they escaped somehow, he found a big hole confirming his theory leading to another rooftop which wasn't covered. Peter thought of going after them, but he figured that getting Fisk and Tombstone down to the police would be a better idea. So he did as such, webbing both of them down to the police.
Spider-Man then swooped down pointing at both. "Officers, I introduce you to Tombstone and The Kingpin of Crime. Both ready to head off into jail. Unfortunately The Crime Master and Looter escaped. Oh and there are some henchmen hanging around up there as a heads up. They're down and webbed up."
Stacy approached Fisk. "It's been a long time coming. You're going to jail for the rest of your life, Kingpin. Nobody else will be hurt by you."
"Captain, you'd be surprised by what the legal system can do to men like myself." Fisk said confidently in himself. "And be careful about who you threaten, if you love your daughter I wouldn't speak like that."
Stacy held back the urge to attack Fisk. "Someone get him out of here and read him his rights! I want an entire transport for him, he's not escaping!" He then turned over to Tombstone. "Same for them. Who are you anyways?"
"A nobody, a foolish nobody who'll have a comeback someday, mark my words on that." She said to him, looking threatening.
"Put her on the same transport as Fisk and get another one day here for Gargon!" He said, frowning at him. "Glad Dewolf wasn't here to see this." He muttered.
Spider-Man came over to Stacy. "Can't believe we finally got the big boy. It's relieving knowing he'll finally be going to the big house for the rest of his life."
"Don't be so sure, I've got a bad feeling we might see him again." Stacy replied.
Spider-Man shook his head. "No way, he's not getting out of this one. I'll even follow his transport to make sure no funny business happens along the way. We've got our big old willy and he's going to be paying for everything, captain."
He smiled at Spider-Man. "You have a lot of optimism. I respect that greatly and hope you'll never lose it, kid."
"Thank you captain Stacy." He replied and looked over at Fisk being put onto the truck. "Looks like my que to go, until next time, hopefully we'll have Crime Master locked up next time we meet, before he ruins my day anymore." He remarked and hopped on the truck carrying Fisk.
"You pachlent child, when I get out this disgrace and believe me I will, you'll be paying for this. New York is my city and no one will keep it from me. Controlling this city is all I've got left now, my wife, my poor love. I'll kill you and that Daredevil, his life will be dismantled first. And then, I'll be coming from you. Nobody will stop me from having my revenge. I am The Kingpin of Crime and somebody by that title won't be crossed by the likes of you again without consequences." Kingpin said sinisterly.
Spider-Man shook his head and shut the door. "Good luck Willy." He hopped onto the truck and peaked over at the drivers. "Hello, I'm your backup. Ten four rubber ducky?" He said which confused the drivers. "Never mind, let's just get going." He laid down on the truck as it drove away and called MJ.
"Hey, is this Spider-Man?" MJ asked.
Peter was puzzled. "It is, why are you saying it like that?"
"I was concerned an alien stole your phone." She replied sarcastically.
"Ha ha, very funny." Peter replied. "I didn't catch the Crime Master or your father. However, I did end up fighting Scorpion and Tombstone now heading to jail. Along with the most prized catch of the day! I got Kingpin and I'm currently escorting him to jail. Then I'll be coming back to the park, I really hope you're still there. I need to rest. I got my bell rung pretty good."
MJ was surprised. "Wow, you caught Fisk? And those other guys? That's awesome Peter! Glad more of your enemies are off the street."
"Me too, just wished they'd go down easier. So much pain." He laid out on the truck sticking to it as it drove.
She laughed. "You'll be okay, we'll have a nice time at the park. You took down The Kingpin finally, I'd give you a pat on the back, so you'll have to do it yourself for now. I'll give you one later."
"Sounds great, I might just rest on this truck. I still can't believe I won and stopped Ned Leeds from killing Kingpin. You know even right now, I feel like I've gotten a real vicory and that feels great!" He exclaimed and relaxed at last feeling the victory.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed the end of The Kingpin Of Crime, for now of course. I wanted Fisk out of the picture as I do semi regret making him the villain so early on, it's a bit overdone and done better many times. I've got a lot of great ideas coming up and lesser used villains coming out to play. Ultimately though I liked making Ned's motivation tie back to him and his plays of revenge ultimately failing.
Secondly, I enjoyed making Spider-Man have a rematch with Scorpion being he was one of the first villains and the unique backstory he has and position in this universe, which will be explored more I can promise that.
Overall, I really enjoyed this chapter having it bring an end to Spidey's longest foe to date, while giving a crushing blow to his newest one. Peter deserved a victory and I
wanted to give that, along with setting up Ned as being exposed, backing him into a corner. Next chapter will be the end of The Crime Master arc and after, there will be a lot more coming onwards to look forward to.
