"You seriously want to talk to Flash? Did you hit your head? Get electrocuted by that nut job! Oh god your brain is fired!" Harry exclaimed.
Peter shook his head at his friend. "Max wasn't a nut job, he clearly wasn't okay and was lashing out cause he didn't have anybody."
"You seriously feel bad for him? He tried to kill us! Building a suit like that, would've taken him months of constant work building that powerful weapon of destruction, if not for Spider-Man he could've killed some of us!" Gwen responded back upset.
"I think Peter means he feels bad nobody helped prevent it from happening." MJ jumped in saying to them.
Gwen and Harry looked at each other, they nodded understanding.
"You always have to play hero Pete don't you? And feel bad for guys like that, I don't know what happened to the guy yeah, but he still was a jerk deep down! I tried talking and helping him out once he just gave me a dirty look." Harry replied.
"Yeah, not exactly a great thing to do." Peter admitted.
Harry nodded. "He wasn't the type to want help, just a big jerk who was mad at everyone and was looking forward to getting sweet revenge!" He exclaimed.
Peter continued looking unsure. "Uh well I still want to talk with Flash about what he did for Max, it was surprisingly nice. You know, Flash and Sally have been changing quite a bit since we got here. Nicer."
"It's true and kind that you want to use this as a chance to make amendments with Flash." Gwen replied to him.
He nodded.
"Oh Peter's really lost it." Harry said, pretending to faint.
"I haven't, look I'm going to see him and then I'll be right back. Unless something comes up, I really hope not. I probably shouldn't have said that." He admitted.
"It'll be fine, I'll cover for you." MJ said, whispering for him.
He smiled at her. "Thanks MJ."
Peter went to see Flash Thombson, who was like back in highschool was throwing around a football with his friend Kenny.
"Hey, Flash. How are you doing?"
"What do you want, Parker? Here about Max? How was I meant to know that jerk Doug would keep messing around with the guy? Or that he'd be freaking out lashing out at all of us. Out of nowhere to me! Wasn't my fault!" Flash exclaimed.
Peter looked at him. "Uh, I wasn't blaming you for anything."
"Jeez Flash, you're a bit worked up." Kenny remarked.
He shook his head. "You can't blame me! That Max guy totally freaked out! Who could've ever seen it coming!"
"Your right Flash, nobody would've seen it coming. So don't beat yourself up, you really were trying to turn a new leaf by standing up for Max. I just wanted to let you know about it and that I thought it was big of you." Peter said.
"Oh well, thank you Parker." Flash replied. "You know maybe we should hang out sometime, I know Sally is trying to make things up, maybe we could do the same!"
Peter was distracted by Stacy calling. "Sounds awesome, Flash. I'd love that." He said and walked away, while Flash was oblivious of him not really paying that close attention feeling like it went pretty well.
"Hello? Captain Stacy? What's up?" He asked immediately.
"Max Dillon is alive." Stacy replied palnly.
This was shocking news. "Are you sure? He, I thought he was dead after all that electricity he absorbed. Sure looked that way and didn't someone check to see if he was breathing!" He exclaimed, not understanding.
"Simply put, we thought he was dead. Medically speaking he should be, the person who spotted him escaping said he was glowing. Not to mention his father appears to have been murdered, likely so by Max." Stacy explained.
Peter waved to his continued friends running off and mouthed he was heading to the bugle as fast as possible, only MJ understood his fast mouthing and she told the two of them what he said.
"How do you understand that?" Harry questioned looking over at Mary Jane.
She shrugged. "I've gotten pretty used to it."
"Oh okay." Harry shrugged back looking bewildered.
He sat down on the ground. "I can't believe this, I've gotta find him and stop him before anyone else gets in harm's way! I've gotta stop him, where would he go next. Of course! Finish what he wanted to, going after Doug!" Realized Peter and started suiting up.
"He's with the police now, an old friend, Captain Yuriko Watanabe is watching after him questioning him about what went down." He expressed and gave Peter the address to the location it was happening in.
"Thanks Captain Stacy, I'm heading there now!" He replied, suited up and hung up.
Spider-Man swung quickly though the city completely focused on stopping Max. Can't believe he's still out there, I'm not sure if I should be happy or extremely concerned he's still alive. As horrible as that sounds. Not looking forward to fighting him again if he's more powerful now. He approached the station. Looks safe enough. Of course as this thought crossed his mind, spider-sense was triggered as a car exploded and Max Dillon appeared in his new form.
"Bring me who I'm after! Doug!" Max shouted.
Spidey hopped in. "Hold it, the jig is up your heading to prison before anyone else gets hurt, I've had it with you Max." He declared trying to web him.
"Nice try, you're not dealing with Max anymore, he was weak, but me? No, do you know who I am?" He asked.
Genuinely confused, he asked. "Okay, who in the world are you?"
"Haven't you figured it out? I'm-"
Peter cut him off. "No I haven't figured it out, could you give me a clue?"
"I'm Electro!" He roared out absorbing electricity into his body making himself glow brightly and angry as could be.
"Ah, Electro." Spidey did hand quotes. "Fancy name pal, if we're making up super villain names you should know I'll be treating you more harshly!"
"You want to mock me? I could fry you, in fact I will do exactly that fool!" Electro shouted trying to kill Spider-Man.
He avoided the incoming bolts. "Wow, you've really gone off the deep end haven't you?" He remarked trying to get on his nerves and shooting webs at him while he continued floating in the air. "I mean seriously! You've become a full blown super villain! Congrats on joining the long list of people who despise me because I have the sheer audacity to disagree when people try doing crimes!" He remarked as Max boiled with rage. Spidey avoided more blasts of lightning coming his way and kept on firing webs at him trying to knock him down.
"Enough!" He shouted shooting out a major blast Spidey couldn't have avoided not seeing it coming, in hindsight he probably should've.
Electro moved inside blasting open the wall with the police opening fire on him. "Your bullets can't hurt me!" He shouted out trying to shoot back at them.
"No!" Spider-Man yelled and kicked him in the face knocking him to the ground, while hurting himself by the electricity shocking him.
"You're really getting on my nerves." He said, trying to blast him.
"I'm used to hearing that! I get on everyone's nerves!" Responded Peter, trying to kick Max again as he figured it'd hurt not as much, correctly so and it knocked down Electro making him crash into a car.
"My powers, draining." He said to himself.
Spidey looked interested. "Oh they are? What a true shame! Hope you won't lose any more of your dangerous powers!" He joked and cracked him across the face. "That hurt, thanks spider-sense."
Electro got up blasting back Spidey as he got hurt by the punch and then started taking in a ton of power releasing it all at the police precinct blowing open the front of it with everyone inside moving back deeper inside as he started to step in there. "I'm unstoppable and nobody can stand in the way of Electro!"
Naturally Spider-Man webbed back into him attempting to pull him back, but instead he nearly got shocked by Max grabbing onto the web line trying to pass down some electricity. "Wooh! Watch it!" Spidey exclaimed, letting go.
"Die!" He shouted, continuing trying to blast him.
"Please let's try not fighting around all these people!" Peter expressed putting his hands up pleads for it to stop.
"I'll never stop, not with all my power I now possess! You are all nothing, only tiny little pastes beneath my feet! I finally have all the power!" Max claimed.
Spider-Man shook his head at him and noticed the sprinklers. "For all that power, you're not that bright. You need to lighten up!" Remarked Spidey who activated the sprinklers dropping down water onto Max.
It gave him quite a shock, as Peter dove for cover to avoid any more electronic shocks from his brand new foe.
He ran out screaming in pain. "I need to recharge. This isn't over." Electro vanished traveling away in a power line.
Spider-Man got up checking himself over and looked for Max, but wasn't able to find him at all. He got away.
"Ah crap. That's not great." He remarked looking annoyed and sighed. "I've gotta find him, where would he head next?" As he began thinking, he was distracted immediately by the arrival of the captain that Stacy mentioned.
"Spider-Man, thank you for the assistance. Is that Max Dillon?" Captain Watanabe said, looking at him and the destruction.
"Apparently, he's had an upgrade. Dillon has become supercharged, it must've been his suit absorbing so much power. Somehow it overloaded his body and gave him super powers for real without technology." He expressed.
She stared at him.
"Not exact science, but who knows. The world is a weird place right?" Spider-Man shrugged his shoulders. "Ah whatever, my point is Max needs to be stopped, he could hurt more people, he's gone completely off the deep end, uh that kid. I've gotta find him and stop him."
"Captain Stacy said you'd say something like that, word for word pretty much. I'm aware you're closer with him. He's a good man."
"Yeah he is, your Captain Watanabe right? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I think we met before, but I hit my head pretty hard a few dozon times." He confessed.
She looked at him. "What's your next move?"
Peter thought about it. "He said he needed to recharge. There is only one place he'd be heading, the place where he could consume all the power in the city and assuming he does that, the entire power grid could collapse!"
"That would be disastrous, I'll alert everyone to use battery powered walkie talkies in the case of that happening." She replied.
"Oh, well that's very reassuring." He joked in a sarcastic tone.
"It's important to have a backup plan in case of the worst case scenario, preparation is critical. The sun's going to set soon. It'll be chaos if the power is lost. You can't let this happen. I'll alert Stacy, he's closer than I am." She said to him determinedly.
Peter nodded. "Thank you Captain Watanabe!" He swung off heading to stop Electro from finishing his plans.
As he swung quickly, he got a phone call from MJ.
"I'm going to assume that wasn't a call from The Bugle?" She immediately said.
"Yeah, trouble, major. Max is alive somehow and now he's gotten super powers. Oh also he's calling himself Electro and now he's about to take down the entire power grid. Actually I'm very happy you called! You need to get to safety and check on both of our aunts! If I fail, it's going to suck a lot." He admitted feeling a bit concerned about it.
"Oh no big deal." She remarked with sarcasm. "Okay, I'll rush home right now I was already heading there anyway, no offense to Harry and Gwen, but sometimes they can be a lot." Confessed MJ genuinely
"Fair enough, they definitely can be a lot to handle. They're quite the pair those two." He agreed with a nod and a slight chuckle.
"Good luck with taking down Max. I can't believe what's happened to him." Said MJ.
Peter agreed. "It's crazy, but I've gotta take him down once and for all. Somehow I've gotta stop him, I wish I had more time to prepare for this fight, I need to stop him from electrocuting me and I could find a way easily, I've already got some ideas, but time isn't on my side." He admitted.
"I know you'll still find a way to beat him." MJ said certain of his ability to win the fight.
"Thanks MJ, hope I'll see you soon with the power still on." He said and hung up swinging as fast as possible, starting to notice the power flickering.
Crap! I can't be too late! He realized and moved as fast as possible.
Spider-Man soon arrived finding Electro absorbing all the energy he could into himself, taking it all in and glowing immensely. "I'm so dead." Peter remarked to himself and approached closer. "Stop! You're going to absorb too much power! You'll take all the power in the city into your body! Not only would it be bad for the city, but there's a chance you could overload yourself Max!"
"I'm Electro!" He shouted, shooting a major bolt at Spider-Man who swung out of the way, seeing the damage it caused. "I'm going to become like a god with all the power I'll obtain! It'll be incredible! You won't be able to stop me!" He said in a booming voice.
"Oh, I'm so screwed." He once again reminded himself and avoided more incoming bolts coming flying at him from Max's hands.
"Die! You freak!" He continued roaring out trying to fry Spidey.
"I'm not a freak! I've been told I'm beautiful! Okay well maybe I just tell myself that, the point is comments like that hurt my feelings!" Spider-Man replied looking for a way to stop Max from gaining more power. He settled on creating a gigantic web to hopefully trap him and prevent him from gaining more power. Shortly after spinning this large web he had to switch out web cartridges, which unfortunately gave Electro the perfect chance to give out a humongous blast of energy destroying the web he worked so hard making and knocking him back to add insult to injury. "Come on! I was spinning up my masterpiece of a web!"
Spider-Man got back up trying to web up his hands thinking it'd hurt less if he tried punching Max again. The idea was put into action smacking him around, which still hurt Spidey more than his foe. "Extra crap."
He backed off again and now started trying yet again to grab into him with all his might trying to throw him into a wall hoping it'd still hurt him. From all appearances despite the fact Max clashed through a wall making a huge hole, he got right back up charging right at Spidey who immediately saw the danger coming and rushed away avoiding all the might of Electro trying his damndest to electrocute poor Peter to death who kept on moving as fast as he could avoiding his foe at full power, even absorbing more throughout the chase.
"You're weak compared to me Spider-Man! Can't you see? I'm unstoppable! Isn't it incredible how powerful I am! Nobody could dare to match me! The name Electro will be known to all in the world!" He roared out in his booming voice.
Peter touched his ear to make sure it hadn't exploded from all the noise. "Could you keep it down? It's almost night time you know!"
"Why don't you ever shut up!" Electro yelled.
"Not in my nature I'm afraid." Spider-Man replied sarcastically and noticed that Max was glowing more intently, seeming to be unstable along with the power grid. "Your body, I was right, it can't contain that much energy!"
Electro looked at him, stopping now for a moment. "I've already died once today, I can cheat death! I want this power, I can feel it, all that makes me whole." He claimed.
"You don't have to do this, you could get help!" Peter exclaimed.
"No, it's too late for that. I need this power, all of it!" He said taking the rest in making the whole city go black and he kept taking it in glowing more.
Spider sense triggered and he rushed away realizing Max was going to overload and explode without a doubt ducking for cover away from him as he exploded creating the largest blast he ever saw, making a crader. "Crap, Max." He rushed over to him, finding him still alive, but looking more normal again down and out.
Captain Stacy and some officers came rushing over. "Is he?"
"No, he's alive, but you should keep a close eye on him." Spider-Man replied and looked around at the city now in a blackout. "Looks like we've got ourselves a bigger problem."
Next up, the city befalls a major power outage and Spidey is going to have his hands full with that keeping everything together. I hope you all enjoyed the introduction of Electro, it could've gone better I believe, but I hope it was still a decent start for the character as there shouldn't be a doubt he'll return someday, probably. I originally planned on everything being darker, but decided against it as I wanted to not write such a dark series. I feel like my ideas would've been pushing it. (I was originally inspired by The New Animated Series, as some of you likely could tell I wanted to go down that darker route, but went against it by the end)
I'm excited for what's coming next, I've still got a ton of ideas and joy writing this again. It's wonderful having that feeling again.
(That was written around April, the below part is written in August.
Obviously comic con happened, the MCU was announcing everything for the next few years and it's hard to tell what the future holds, after the high of the announcements I really don't care to manage it. I don't really have anything to say, I must say the strongest thing I had a reaction about was the Batgirl movie getting canned even though I wasn't thrilled about it, it still sucks it's dead now.
Thought I'd have more to say, but not really.
In response to CG
I've thought about the story suggestions you gave, I guess for consistency I'll mention Supergirl and Superman and Lois in the Batwoman chapter. For now I'll say in terms of my interest, I think it would go Supergirl series, Spider-Gwen and then Superman in last place.
Anyways, I am somewhat interested in writing for "The Sensational Spider-Gwen" at some point in the future. At this moment I can't say I'm motivated to write anything for it as of yet or add many points to it so far. (I have felt and done that for Supergirl) I admit that I never got attached to Spider-Gwen in the comics, I enjoyed what I read of her series but I never got that interested in the Mary Janes and the whole band angle. It's certainly a different and more interesting one. I just never clicked with it. I am interested in all the TASM universe world building and Gwen having her story continue on having to deal with everything from your postings. Judging from the postings I assume it'd be like "movie" length and not an ongoing series like the others I have going on, so that does give me some more motivation to take a crack at it. (And of course your hints of leaving the door up for a continuation being optional) I feel better about writing a shorter story and also a little more nervous about it, don't know if that makes anysense. I do hope I'll feel motivated to try writing for it, hopefully during the preparation for season 3 of Batwoman.
Anyways, I did want to complement some of the ideas you gave. I don't want to sound like I disliked your pitch. I really enjoyed reading it and thinking a ton about it. I really do appreciate you sharing it and hope that I'll be able to make a story that does justice to what you suggested eventually.
I like the whole mystery behind what happened to Gwen/Max slowly remembering what happened to her and who her real identity is. Along with all the mind games with the Jackal makes him sound like quite the devious villain. Another thing I like is the Jackal making up all sorts of lies making Gwen confused as to what her real memories are and what her history is truely
Overall, I like it and want to be able to do this idea justice. Also, I did find it sad how Peter is just sad and alone (though that's probably just myself with my feelings) as Mary Jane never existed in his life (thanks to her being cut out, at least it worked out for your pitch. It seriously does suck she was cut. I was curious about that verison. I remember before release seeing the behind set photos as I was very excited for that movie) and of course he'd not find out Gwen is back after this story, though I guess it does leave the door open for sequels of a reuniting one day. I'd love to hear one day if you have any more thoughts of continuations when I do write the pitch you gave, thank you again for sharing it.
