It was a few days now since the revelation of Ned Leeds being back on the streets of New York City, Peter was on edge to say the least and needed something to take his mind off the trouble brewing. MJ had a great idea, to go together to help out Aunt May at the lovely shelter she was volunteering at, F.E.A.S.T. It was run by a very kind and generous man named Martin Li, who was always very polite to May. The two asked Harry and Gwen if they wanted in as well, but both declined. Perhaps it was ultimately for the best, considering the mood both were in still.
The two walked down to the shelter while talking, as May was already there wanting to get a headstart. She genuinely enjoyed being there a lot.
"Looking forward to helping out at Feast?" MJ asked.
"You bet I am, it's about time I've taken a break from being Spidey. All the supervillains lately, it's been semi overwhelming! No clue where these guys are all coming from, I wish they'd go back!"
She put her hand on his shoulder. "Well, today is just for us and to help out some people in need. No super villains. And no jinxs."
"We'll see." Peter remarked.
They went inside and saw it was a busy day. Aunt May immediately came up to them. "Oh I'm so glad to see you both came!"
"Of course Aunt May, we both were happy to!"
"You bet!" MJ added.
May smiled brightly. "I know you've been here once before Peter, but for MJ, welcome to your first time here! Martin wanted to say hi, but he happened to be quite busy today, something he didn't want me to be concerned about."
"That's a shame." Peter remarked and wondered about what it could be.
"Not to worry, there is still a lot of work to be done!" May reassured.
They both nodded and were brought elsewhere to a room filled with boxes.
She looked at them. "Now, this might not be the most exciting task, but sorting through these boxes would certainly help! They've got lots of medical supplies and clothing for people who come in. Think you both can figure out which is which?"
"We're enrolled in university, this is a piece of cake!" MJ replied with a smile.
"Right on that!" Peter added.
May looked pleased. "Glad to hear that! I'll come check on you two crazy kids soon! Have fun!" She left feeling pretty positive.
"Wasn't exactly what I expected." Peter admitted.
She smirked. "What were you expecting for our first assignment? Helping out everyone in the shelter?"
"Maybe, kinda. We've been pretty cool though, right?"
"Yes it would be nice helping out everyone here. I feel bad seeing so many people having difficulties, just having a place to stay. It's great there is a nice safe looking place for people in need to go." She replied.
"Totally agreed on that." He smiled at her, feeling happy to be having time together working on a good cause.
A few hours passed along, and it turned out sorting was a more complex and time consuming job then realized, though together the time just seemed to fly right by. Sure enough everything was finished up and they went out to see Aunt May who was talking to Martin Li.
"I can't believe some hoodlums would do this to us!" May exclaimed, shocked.
"Doubtful they wouldn't have done it unless completely desperate May. Still, it's completely disastrous. I'm really hoping we won't have to turn anybody away tonight." Martin said with a frown.
Peter and Mary Jane approached over hearing.
"What happened?" Peter asked immediately.
"Armed men stole two trucks full of medical supplies, not to mention a ton of cloth and clothing to boot! Probably didn't even realize they stole it!" May expressed sounding very upset about the whole situation.
Mr. Li sighed. "It's horrible, truly. I can't imagine why someone would steal from us, I'm going to call the police and hope they find the trucks tonight before it becomes dark outside, it's going to be cold."
Peter nodded, knowing what he'd have to do now. "I think I'll tell the Bugle about this, maybe some of my co-workers there could help out?"
"That's very kind of you to offer that Peter." Aunt May replied.
Martin Li looked in agreement. "Why, thank you. It'd be extremely helpful having the word out. Maybe we could get some more support until then."
"Sounds great, I'll be back!" Peter expressed and ran out, with MJ behind him.
"You're going to find the trucks?"
He nodded and put on his web shooters. "Spider-Man is the best chance of finding them, I'll still tell Foswell at the Bugle. Looks like our time off hasn't worked out great huh? Sorry MJ."
"No reason to be sorry, you're going to help a lot of people finding those supplies. Couldn't think of anything better!" She reminded him.
Spidey smiled as he put on his mask. "Thanks MJ. Hope I'll be back before closing time! And before my butt freezes off!" He remarked and flew off into the air swinging away determined to find the missing supplies.
Now suited up, Spider-Man was swinging through the city on the hunt for stolen trucks, fortunately they'd have F.E.A.S.T logos attached to them, surely they'd have been spotted, so he called up Captain Stacy for assistance.
"Hello, Captain? Have you heard about any Feast trucks being stolen?"
"Heard a passing call about it and figured you'd call soon enough. Seemed like in your wheelhouse of problems." He pointed out.
"Great! Where exactly?"
Stacy gave him the address.
With a sigh he had a feeling what it meant. "As in where Hammerhead's turf tended to be? I swear that guy is getting on my nerves! Why haven't you sent officers in to take them down captain?"
"We've been planning a sting operation, it wasn't exactly clear if anything was in that area, but if you clear it I'll get my people to give support and return the trucks asap."
"Sounds like a plan, after facing a giant Rhino Hammerhead and his goons couldn't possibly cause me that much trouble!" Spider-Man exclaimed feeling confident.
It wasn't long before he arrived at the address, finding non armed sentries walking around on guard keeping an eye out.
"Easy enough so far!' He mistakenly said.
In fact however, it was pretty simple so far taking down a bunch of thugs all spread apart out of each other's eyesight wasn't hard. Now, it was time to sneak inside which would be easy as well crawling inside though an exposed window.
Now, he could easily spot indeed it was Hammerhead, unfortunately joined up with Tombstone now as feared before. It appeared some thug got in hot water, as both were questioning them as the rest of the goons watched on.
"Start talking right now you worthless dirt!" Hammerhead said, kindly as ever. "Why'd you steal the shipment? We didn't say jack about it!"
Tombstone got in the thug's face. "Do you really want to lie?"
"I'm telling you the truth! I was told by the boss! At least who I thought the boss was, how was I meant to know I was being set up!" They exclaimed.
"Well boy, sometimes there aren't second chances in life. Are we in agreement, Tombstone, on this trash's fate?"
She nodded with a grin. "Kill him. Make an example out of him!"
The goon looked terrified then got pulled up on the ceiling via webbing.
"I say old sport! Have you gotten ugly since the last time I saw you? And you Tombstone looking even more cranky!" Spider-Man quipped.
They both looked up. "Spider-Man!"
"Na, you need your eyes checked."
Hammerhead looked red. "Kill him you idiots!"
The said idiots attempted to fire, as Spidey pulled the unfortunate goon away for safety.
"I knew you'd come! The boss said you would!"
Spidey rolled his eyes underneath the mask. "I've about had it up to here with mysterious bad guys. Who exactly?"
He got interrupted by more incoming bullets as apparently they have a machine gun set up inside which made Spidey leap out the window crashing through to escape.
"Never mind your mysterious boss, looks like we've got other problems!"
The goons rushed outside all armed.
"Use suppressors! I don't want a lot of sound to be made!" Tombstone said, rushing outside. "And let him live long enough for me to snap him in two."
Spider-Man leaped on the roof and pushed the goon off. "You badies are always very predictable and always want to kill me!"
"You've gotten in the way and came to my territory." Tombstone pointed out.
"Ours!" Hammerhead came and added.
Tombstone gave him a dirty look. "Stop making us look weak! Kill Spider-Man!"
He grit his teeth and pulled out tommyguns. "Fine. Die freak!"
"Oh for the love of-" Spidey started saying and moved out of the way grabbing a hold of the crock. "Come on, we're getting out of here. Oh wait, we can't! The trucks say why'd you steal them anyways? Was it really for your mystery boss?"
"Yes, his name is The Rose!"
"The Rose? What kind of name is that? Does he like to garden or something?" Spidey joked, not intimidated.
"You don't cross The Rose!" He expressed.
"If you say so pal." Spidey continued dismissing, which would be a mistake for later. For now, he kept on trying to hide and webbed the thug to the roof. "Don't go anywhere." Then he called up Captain Stacy again. "Come on, come on. Pick up please!"
"Spider-Man, we heard gunfire from where I sent you, we're coming now. How are you holding out?" He asked.
"Alright, just having a double bill of Hammerhead and Tombstone." As he shared this, more trouble arose. It was the Dragon Tails. "Oh and now more guys are here to kill me, I'll get back to you if I'm alive."
The Dragon Tails cracked their knuckles and got ready for a fight.
"Could we discuss this civil matter? I know I've asked this a lot, but someone must agree to it at some point right?"
It appeared they disagreed and started to fight, they had some actual fighting styles, while Spidey pretty much did whatever worked for him and they seemed to be able to hold their own putting up a good fight, being fast and in sync with each other.
"Woah guys!" He put up his hands being on the defensive, surprised by how skilled fighters they turned out to be. "I just wanted to help out the homeless!"
"Ohh, that's why you came? To help the homeless, how sweet of you!" A familiar voice said and leaped beside him kicking one goon to the ground.
"Black Cat? What are you doing here? Weren't you trying to hide from Hammerhead?" Spidey asked, surprised by the assistance.
"I was in the neighborhood. Like I said before, I know how to stay hidden and this cat figured you'd show up to ruin his day soon enough. You can't help yourself after all!"
He stopped for a moment and shrugged. "Can't argue with that."
They went and fought against The Dragon Tails, taking them all down now making a pretty good team considering they both had the similar way of fighting. Not having any sense to it other than being able to out smart their foes. Giving them bad luck probably helped out too.
It wasn't over as of yet, Hammerhead and Tombstone came up looking to take them both down.
"You! You've got the nerve to come back here after what you did?" Hammerhead said pretty angry and charged at them.
"Wasn't personal Hammie!" Black Cat remarked and kicked his back.
Tombstone stared down Spidey.
"Going to send me back to jail? Is that your ultimate plan?" She questioned stepping closer slowly.
"Me? Ultimate plan? Doesn't sound like me, all I really wanted to do was grab the trucks and leave! But no, you two had to make a big deal of my arrival!" He exclaimed.
Tombstone backed off. "Fine, you want the trucks, take them." They surprisingly left leaping off the roof and running to a car. Before pressuring after her, Spidey first turned to Black Cat.
"How are you doing with Hammerhead?" He then saw said baddie get knocked back to the ground beside him. "Pretty well I see." Before he went to go after Tombstone, the danger wasn't over yet as the goons came up opening fire. There were a lot of bullets, so Spidey decided on bringing Black Cat away as the police were also arriving on the scene, it was basically time to go and the goons even seemed to agree trying to run off.
Now landing on a nearby rooftop they watched the police close in.
"Couldn't stand to let me get captured?" Black Cat remarked with a smirk.
"Perhaps, you did help me out. For a cat burglar, you're not such a bad cat. Unless you're playing a long con against me." He suggested
She smirked. "You really think I'm clever enough for that?"
"Uh, perhaps I'm just that stupid. Who is to say? I'd be extremely disappointed if this is all an elaborate scheme to trick me, I mean it feels like a whole lot of super villains are trying to pull the wool over me." He expressed, with a shrug.
"Don't worry Spider, you're too interesting for me wanting to get rid of you and you're safe from the potential worth of Odessa. We talked about it."
Spidey sighed of relief and whipped away nonexistent sweat.
"Very funny Spider, I hope we'll meet again soon. After all, a lot of change is happening in the city. Can't you sense it with that sense of yours?"
He looked surprised and offended. "First of all, how'd you figure that out?" He then turned around for a moment. "Secondly, it doesn't work that way!" Spidey then realized she vanished. "And thirdly! That's pretty mean."
Now he waited a few minutes before she left, watching closely what the police were up to not wanting to get involved until he saw Captain Stacy, who did arrive, along with that Carter guy.
"Did you tell Spider-Man about this? We had a string in the works Captain! Tombstone got away, along with the Dragon Tails! We're lucky to have caught Hammerhead!" He said furiously.
"I am your officer in charge. Watch your tongue." He remarked back.
He stepped back looking around.
Spidey landed, while over hearing. "You got Hammerhead back in cuffs? That's wonderful to hear! I was sick of that guy. And please tell me your going to get those trucks back to F.E.A.S.T asap!"
"Don't worry, we are. I promise."
"Was it really worth blowing this whole op?" Carter muttered.
Things only seemed to get more complicated as Captain Watanabe arrived now as well, coming to check on the situation.
"Officer Carter told me about what you did, Captain Stacy." She started saying.
"Woah, this isn't his fault whatever this is-"
Stacy looked at Spidey to stay out of it and so he reluctantly listened. Then with a throat clear, he replied. "It was unprofessional of officer Carter to bring you into this."
"I'd actually disagree in this case, he did the right call considering you have been telling Spider-Man a lot of sensitive information." She pointed out.
"He's here to help us, why on earth would I be keeping all this information from him? And why all of a sudden is this an issue now?" He questioned.
She sighed. "It's been brewing for some time. We nearly took out a large part of the criminel empire being built and now with rumors of another new player, not to mention The Crime Master having escaped prison, this could get messy."
"Assuming a gangwar could happen, we need Spider-Man!" Stacy replied with his arms crossed looking unhappy.
"Stacy, look. You are realistically the only one looking out for this guy. Carter and I are only looking out for you." She expressed.
"Since when do you listen to Carter? Does he have something on you?"
She looked unamused. "Tell your friend to leave."
Captain Stacy frowned and looked at Spider-Man, who understood and left, finding it all very strange wondering what was going on, but at least thankfully Hammerhead was heading back to prison and even got a team up with Black Cat. Most of all, he helped out Feast in its time of need and now headed back.
Shortly he arrived back as Peter Parker and found some reporters talking to some rich looking guy, who he ignored for now.
Inside MJ and Aunt May went up to him immediately.
"Oh Peter! That Spider-Man helped the police find the trucks! It's wonderful and a kind young man has donated a lot of money to the shelter too!"
"Richard Fisk." MJ pointed out knowingly to him.
Peter tried his best to remain calm and normal. "Oh? Who is that? He does certainly sound like a fine young fella."
May smiled, probably not knowing who his father clearly was. "I should go speak to Martin, he seemed quite excited as well about this new income!" She walked off leaving the two to discuss this info.
"The son of Wilson Fisk makes a public appearance as soon as I hear about a new crime lord coming to play. What a coincidence." He said to himself.
"Another crime boss? How'd you hear about that?"
Peter gulped.
"You saw that cat burglar again didn't you?" She realized and rolled her eyes.
"Oh my goodness, I always knew you could read minds! How long has it been?" He said sarcastically with a smile.
She rolled her eyes again. "It was pretty obvious, you know, from your face. And, other things too."
Peter laughed nervously. "Anywho, I fought against Hammerhead and Tombstone, then some goon claimed some guy called The Rose told him to steal the trucks."
"Does he like to garden?" She joked.
"Exactly what I thought!" Peter remarked back with a smirk. "What do you think is going to happen next? I mean, I've got so many bad guys looking to kick my butt. Welp, at least Hammerhead is off to prison." The moment he said that, on the tv the news was playing revealing Hammerhead escaped police custody. "Me and my big mouth."
MJ chuckled softly. "You'll get him. You always do after all. Let's just keep on helping your Aunt May and focus on that now?"
"Sounds like a plan, MJ." He smiled warmly at her, as they went back to working going to spend the rest of their day helping out.

Thank you for reading, I wanted this chapter to be a bit more of a calm before the incoming storm, along with showing what Aunt May was up to, showing more of the gangwar stuff, bringing in Richard Fisk and most of all, giving Peter and MJ a day to themselves to help out around F.E.A.S.T as they both love to help people a lot.
Said incoming storm begins as The Sin Eater makes their arrival next time, which will have 3 parts. Then, another storyline I'm sure many of you have been waiting for.
So there is a lot to be excited for!

Side tangent about Ultimate Spider-Man (The amazing comic series)
I've been reading the series again and I almost forgot how amazing the comic series was, obviously I've taken some inspiration from there and I wish I'd taken some more, partially. I've already said I wanted to go in a more lighthearted direction with the series, I forgot how well the comic could balance the hardships and the lighthearted stuff. I'm trying to get back to that point, maybe having more of a balanced take. I don't know, not sure if being lighthearted or darker is the better call. (I mean seriously the series is so funny at times and so shockingly dark and depressing too)
Anyways, *spoilers* for Ultimate Spider-Man. It's totally worth a read.
First off, rereading it made me realize Spectacular Spider-Man had the right idea of making Eddie a childhood friend. I thought I liked Ultimate Eddie more storywise obviously cause the kids show couldn't do that stuff, but he's a jerk the character and a creep, so spectacular did way better in that way. I wish if I could restart I'd totally have Peter and Eddie know each other from Childhood. I'd say more on that topic, but that's spoilers for this series.
Secondly, I like a lot of people who didn't like Ultimate Aunt May, but still I tried making her get angry at Peter for being out and being more realistic. When I was writing that, it felt wrong, but now I understand more where Aunt May was coming from and I've loved her more than 616. Same with Gwen and MJ. Peter really can be a jerk at times, which I like that interpretation in Ultimate, not 616. There is a lot of emotional tales for all those characters, shockingly so.
Thirdly, I was surprised by how much Harry and Norman didn't have in the middleish of Ultimate Spider-Man, along with Doc Ock being a bit underwhelming, but still quite entertaining. (Though, who am I to talk?) I think the series has a lot of amazing moments, like I prefer Ultimate Carnage and all the villains are very menencing. Hammerhead is pretty menacing as well, which is different from this series and spectacular Spider-Man. Sure I must be forgetting some villains there. (I'm about at issue 80ish, I think. There was a team up that was pretty fun) Also I love the Ultimate Clone Saga and Jessica Drew is amazing, I wish she was with Peter more as a sister. (Like how Ben should be treated better by 616 and Peter's brand new sister who I'm in constant fear of being reckoned with any day now, why can't Peter have a family if you refuse to give him love Marvel? Enough of that 200 year old lady) Uhh, tangent in my tangent. Fun.
I love all the breather issues a lot too, the comic has held up well, with some dated references unfortunately. It's fair enough with how fast the jokes can move by. Also seriously some arcs can just go on forever it feels.
Ultimately, pun intended, I love Ultimate Spider-Man a lot, the series is amazing and I'm so happy going back to read it.
(That was back in May, so some of the stuff has changed option wise, don't take everything I said there in stone. Apart from ultimate Jessica Drew, she's the best)
