Chapter 5: Acquiescence

"Daniel, please tell me you've found something?" Sam asked with a tone of impatience.

"Ah, well yeah… lots of things Sam. Like the presence of the number eight, here and here, plus there are eight temples. You know eight is very important in Greek mythology, it's…"

"Daniel! Something that explains… oh God… our visitor." She said in huffed annoyance, the noise causing me to look and find her leaning heavily on the wall of the dome with a look of… holy crap!

"It's here, isn't it?"

"Ya think!"

"What's it doing?" I had to ask. She gave me an incredulous look. "What?"

"If you must know, it's talking to me."

"It's talking to you. What's it saying?"

She snorted, "What kinds of things did you say to Sha're when you were alone."

"Oh… Oh right, OK then. Maybe we should go and find Jack and Teal'c, they can't have gone far." I replied. I didn't even know why Jack insisted on perimeter walks, it's not like anyone was here. Why couldn't he just admit that he was madly in love with Sam. It's not like everyone didn't already know.

"No!" She swallowed, "It's invisible, they can't do anything – but you can, by telling me what is on these walls. Please Daniel."

"Sam, I've already told you how to fix this." I said throwing my arms up in the air. "Everything on these walls that I have deciphered points to you – the both of you – embracing your desires. You love him, he loves you. Just go into the tent and do something about it. What is the big deal?"

"Daniel, you know full well why we can't… the reg…"

"Yes, I know. The regulations, the Air Force, the great cosmic power of the military… yada, yada." I replied waving my fingers in the air, "Excuses Sam. You don't have to advertise that you are screwing each other senseless you know." There I said it. Technically, I probably shouldn't be sleeping with the base CMO either under their beloved UCMJ, but what the brass didn't know couldn't hurt them. Janet had been quite adamant that nobody found out, not even Cassandra. That was fine by me, I liked having her all to myself anyway. If we could do it, then Sam and Jack could most definitely do it, in fact, if they did, they'd probably stop this ridiculous orbit that they had going and put us all out of our misery watching them every damned day. "I just don't see what the problem is, that's all."

I turned back to the wall to work on translating the section I had been working on all morning. The pictures around the text included one of the Stargate, Stargate symbols and stylised people in various stages of ecstasy or torture. Considering what I had seen Sam go through last night, I knew there was a fine line between those two states. Focusing back on the Goa'uld infused Grecian style writing and my handwritten notes.

"If that means diafygí, and this is… oh no." I muttered as I rearranged the words on my page. Damn. They wouldn't like this.

"What is it Daniel?"

"Ummm… you're really not going to like this." I replied hastily while rechecking my translation from ancient Goa'uld Greek to modern Greek and then English. Chinese whispers being very common with translating like this as had been proven with the various versions of the Bible.

"What am I not going to like?"

I took a long breath out and turned to her. "This is the Stargate. This section here talks about those leaving through the Stargate, I think these symbols represent the 7th symbol or home destination of the Dionysian followers."

"OK. So what part am I not going to like?"

"This part when loosely translated back to Greek reads 'den ypárchei diafygí apó to martýrio' or 'there is no escape from torment'."

"No escape… none. So, it will follow me home?" She said with a look half way between terror and bliss, probably from whatever that thing was currently putting her through. She came to look over my shoulder.

"But Earth is not there. Perhaps only people from these worlds can't escape." She said hopefully.

"Well, Earth was Ra's domain before it was abandoned."

"So what, surely that means something." The look on her face was pleading.

"Sorry Sam. I wish I had something else to tell you. I really do." I turned back to the wall and scanned my eyes around the interior. I was barely a quarter of the way around the dome. Of the original eight domes here, five of them were intact. "Who knows, maybe there is something else, we've only scratched the surface of this place. We should ask the General to send a research team back."

"Yeah, we should do that." She responded listlessly before walking outside, a new look of determination plastered on her face.

A research team! A damn research team was not going to help me now. I needed this to end. Maybe kissing the Colonel within an inch of his life would make it all stop. Which way did they go. I thought as I frantically searched for some hint – maybe a footprint, or some flattened grass – anything that would tell me where he was. I couldn't stand this any longer, and now finding out that simply going home would probably not make this thing go away, well I didn't want to think about the consequences if I was found trying to jump my CO while still on base. The caveman virus started a storm of rumours that had taken years to abate. Its hands passed over me again causing me to tense my muscles.

"Please stop… I'm going to find him." I pleaded on a whisper to the hands and the voice that had been with me all morning. A whisper of breeze crossed my lips, and then the hands were gone. The voice was gone. The closed my eyes and bring my breathing back under control, then continued looking for a sign. I found it. Impressions on the grassy dirt of the butt of staff weapon. I drew an invisible line from the first one I saw then found a second one about a metre and a half away, then a third and a fourth. Knowing that they had left on their latest perimeter an hour ago, they would be back soon unless they had stopped or gone off somewhere else. I knew I could cut through the ruins and come out the other side rather than follow their route, or I could just wait for them.

I felt a tug on my arm but ignored it. Then it happened again, more insistent this time, as if I was being pulled or directed back the way I came. I looked towards the dome where Daniel was still holed up and saw a momentary glimpse of something before it disappeared. I followed it behind Daniel's dome and along a broken wall, around a corner and through an arch before crossing a pile of rubble that was the remnants of another dome structure before I lost it. Damn. Now I was in the middle of a pile of ruins. I would have to backtrack. There was another dome in front of me, well, half a dome, one whole side and most of the roof were gone. I walked over and leaned heavily on the wall to take a sip from my canteen. The crunch of boots had me dropping my canteen and crouching, P-90 at the ready.

"Carter?" The voice came from somewhere near me. I spun on my toes but couldn't see anything. Looking to my left and my right with my back against the dome. Not again, I got up and ran to the next dome to get away from it, I could hear the sound of boots chasing me. "Carter." It called again. God it was in my head. Darting behind another partially intact dome, I crouched again and dropped my head to my knees burying my fingers in my ears.

"Please, go away… please. Where are you, Jack?" I whimpered; my eyes still closed. The hand that landed on my shoulder startled me causing me to jump.

"Carter. What's wrong?"

I looked up straight into a pair of brown eyes shaded by an olive drab ball cap. "S-sir?"

I tentatively reached out and poked the boot near me. Solid. But I had been fooled before, so I poked his shin. Still solid. Looking up into his amused brown eyes and sideways smile, I felt my breath hitch and I had to swallow.

"Sir?"

"Yes, Carter." He replied, his voice just a little on the sultry side. He could still be it. I needed another test, something that the Colonel would react to differently than his shadow. Wrapping my hand around the back of his leg, I smoothed it up his calf, past his knee and onto the back of his thigh, giving his hamstrings a squeeze – all the while staring into his eyes. His reaction was exactly what I expected from the real man.

"Ummm, Carter. Whatdya doin'?" He asked hoarsely, then took a step back and out of my reach.

I smiled, "Just checking, Sir. Making sure you are you."

"Ah… and do I pass the I am me test?" He asked after a small cough.

"Yeah." I replied and then blushed furiously when I realised I had had my hand firmly wrapped around the leg of the man I had desired for years.

"Find any bad guys, Sir?" I asked, trying to cover over my embarrassment. I came to my feet and looked at him shyly – lip firmly between my teeth – my heart still racing and the feel of his hard muscle tingling on my fingers. I clenched my hand into a fist, an action that did not go unnoticed by the man in front of me. Yeah, the hinges to our room door were under a lot of strain.

He smiled and looked out over the fields of grass. "Well, present company excluded, no… no bad guys."

"You're not a bad guy Sir, unless you are talking about me, but I'm a girl." I said, my eyes flicking to his lips then back to his eyes.

"No, Major. Definitely no bad guys here." He replied, he fingers flexing as his hands rested on the butt of his rifle.

I took a step toward him, "I can be a bad girl." I tempted him. After my morning of hushed confessions, apologies and wandering hands, I was ready to grab my CO and drag him into the ruins. Despite knowing he was not responsible for my current state, it had still been his voice.

"Major." He cautioned, his eyes sliding to my lips. I smiled and took another step forward.

His dark eyes slid back to mine, and I found myself looking at his lips again. He stared at me intently for a little while. "Daniel said we can't escape it." I blurt out, my eyes travelling along his neck line watching a bead of sweat trickle down to under his tight black shirt. I imagined licking it off his skin and stepped closer focusing on that spot. I knew my eyes were dark and stormy.

"What do you mean can't?" He replied, taking another step back away from me.

"Can't. Cannot. Impossible. It will not leave even when we are home." I told him, "I want you to kiss me Sir." I took two steps in quick succession and pressed him against the half dome wall behind him, our rifles clattering between us as my hands slid up his shirt clad chest onto his neck and into his hair, knocking the cap off to the ground.

"Carter." He protested as I pulled his head down to my lips. He pulled back. "Carter, wha…" He tried again, but I pulled him back for another taste. "Sam… Sa…" He mumbled through my lips giving me the opportunity to slip my tongue into his mouth. "Oh God…" He moaned as he brought his hands to my neck and kissed me harder. Suddenly, he dropped his hands to my arse, lifted me up onto his hips, spun around and pressed me into the dome, grinding his hips and pelvis into mine. The feel of the real man against my body was divine.

"Yes, Jack, yes!" I cried into his mouth, groaning when his desire pressed onto the seam of my BDU's. I reached down and unclipped his belt. Kissing only, yeah right. It was never going to stop at kissing.

"Are you sure about this?" He asked, his dark eyes full blown with desire and need.

"Yes, just once, like you said." I replied, though I knew that once I had had him, I would never be able to stop, but that was future Sam's problem. He growled and dove his hands to my belt, flicking the enclosures open with deft precision while I worked on his. "Put me down, I'll turn around."

"Like it that way, hey?" He said with a mischievous smile. Oh yeah, I did, but my main reason was so I could remain focused on the deed instead of his eyes. Seeing him orgasm was a sure-fire way to leaving that door open. If I couldn't see him, I reasoned that what we were doing was just fucking instead of making love. He dropped me which caused his unsecured BDU's to fall to his ankles taking his boxers with them, then he unclipped both rifles and consigned them to a nearby rock without any thought to their care. I spun around and dropped my own BDU's, then widened my stance and bent forward to brace myself.

"OHH…" I moaned, the feel of his fingers nearly tipping me over the edge.

"Geez Sam, are you always like this?" He asked, but before I could answer, I felt him slide in. "Fuck!" He moaned and slid out, then back in faster before settling into a borderline frenzied motion of out and in, out and in that had me begging him for more. It felt so damned good that I couldn't speak very well, panting moans and the odd monosyllabic cry of his name, a deity I didn't believe in or "More!" was almost all I could handle.

"O'Neill!" Teal'c called out from somewhere further behind our position.

"Shit!" The Colonel said at the same time that I ground out "No!", but it was too late, he had pulled out and was busy redressing. I closed my eyes and retrieved my own pants from around my ankles and refastening them before grabbing our rifles.

"O'Neill!" Teal'c called again, this time much closer. The Colonel looked back at me.

"Later?" He asked, his hand on my face. I nodded.

"Yeah, I'll come to you. Later." I agreed. He pulled me in for an earth-shattering kiss, then walked toward our team Jaffa while I ducked around the corner of the dome and made my way back through the ruins to where Daniel was probably still holed up. Now I just had to get through the rest of the day without thinking about the Colonel and how damn good it felt to have the real man inside me. That shadow creature had nothing on the real thing.

A/N: It can't always be Daniel interrupting them. 😁

Also, the Greek is from Google Translate. My apologies if it is incorrect.
