Chapter Twenty-Eight

Kids Away – Parents Play

A/N – I hope you enjoyed the last chapter. I felt it was time to catch up on how the Borden kids were doing. Amy and Ty are amazing parents and each of their children are a reflection of them. My intent was to provide a vision of that for you. The transition meeting was successful and now Ty and Amy are exited for a little time away, alone without kids. Strong Mature Content. Enjoy!

After some committed prep work by the Board members the transition meeting was a huge success. Every time they met the group got more excited about the new adventure. They finalized the list of to do and were going to start do some preliminary planning on the construction and remodeling that would be needed including the anticipated cost. A budget was created for all the set-up work and was going to be shared by each of the six companies based on their percentage of the pie. The plan was to let the rest of the family know about two months prior to the official announcement. Then a few weeks later the staff would be told about the new organization including one-on-one meetings with each staff member. Happily no one would have to leave and in fact a number of people were getting additional responsibility. Org structure was finalized to present to them so everyone know how the new company would work. A lot of time would be focused on the flexing of labor between the three ranches and how Caleb would oversee the entire operational function. A plan was also in place to have a meeting with suppliers and have them bid on the business which would increase for the company selected. Finally news releases and announcements with city government officials were mapped out. The hope was to get local and Calgary media involved so the news reached out to more people. As each milestone deadline approached the group would have a status check to make sure all was in order. The plan was in place and the board was ready to make is happen.

After a lull in planning Amy and Ty were lying in bed trying to come down from the planning buzz they had been through. Amy was laying on Ty's chest drawing circles and sighed. "I feel like we have been all consumed with all the planning work. I miss snuggling with you." "Amy, we made love twice last night, that was amazing I might add." Ty whispered. She looked into his eyes and said, "I know it was amazing, but I just want to spend some time together, going on walks, sitting next to each other on a park bench, just together time. I mean, don't get me wrong I am all for the sex but I think we really need some time to be us." Ty contemplated what she said and answered with a passionate kiss. He proceeded to unbutton her pajama top moving his hand and lips over her breast as Amy moaned into his ear. Their passion progressed as clothes were discarded. The kissed and touched each other with a love that was just for each other. As they reach the climax of their love, they laid beside each other with their bodies entwined. Breathlessly Ty smirked, "Well you did say you are for the sex. But I agree, whatever it takes we need to get away for a few days. Let's get some sleep and look at the calendar tomorrow and see what we can work out." Amy looked into his eyes smiling, "I agree but I am not tired yet." Their night was not over.

The next day was hectic as Amy and Ty were being pulled in multiple directions. Ty had to run to the clinic to consult with Scott about a surgery he had planned and Amy was dealing with a very hostile horse and client. The horse was so difficult that she teamed up with Georgie while Lou catered to the clients excessive needs. Right after lunch was the first time that they even saw each other since the morning. When he got back into the office, Amy and Georgie were looking through the journals to figure out what to do with the crazy horse. When he sat down, he opened up his laptop to look at the calendar. Suddenly he looked at his computer with excitement. "Amy, look at this, Spring break is in two weeks. Lyndy is going on the 7th grade camping trip for 5 days. The twins are going with Tim and Casey to bring the cattle down from the winter pasture for most of the week and Gwen's parent have asked if Maddie can go with them to visit family in Montana. Four of our five kids will be gone Sunday through Friday, we have a window of opportunity."

Amy smiled then a look of concern came over her, "Honey we have a fifth child who needs a little more attention. I don't know if it is a good time to get away." They both looked over as Georgie chuckled. "You guys are too much, you know you already have five kids and you want to go away for 4-5 days together. You guys are like my romance model. So have I got a deal for you. When Steven and I have our baby, we are really gonna need you guys. So, what if we take JT for the week, kind of like a train run. We will have Lou, Katie, GG and Lisa as support. I think JT will love the attention, heaven knows he craves it. So…" Amy flung her arms around her niece, "Georgie you would do that for us. That is awesome." "Well I guess you guys need some time alone to, even though you are kind of old for that stuff." She smiled. "But I will let you tell your kids, I expect they may be a little more difficult to convince."

So Amy and Ty made plans to spend the weekend in Vancouver on the ocean. They made the reservation and even set up a few restaurants they planned to go to. The discussion with the kids went OK. Addie and Maddie had a lot of questions but Lyndy made sure her sisters kept things in check. Sweet Lyndy even offered to not go on the 7th grade trip to be here for JT but her parent would not let her do it. Wyatt was going to and although the boys and girls were segregated with chaperones it still was a chance for them to spend time together.

List were made and bags were packed for everyone. Georgie and Steven decided they wanted JT to stay with them in the loft so Amy packed for him as well. Everyone was going their separate ways on Sunday and would be back Friday afternoon. The twins were excited about their first cattle drive and Amy knew her dad was even more than happy. Maddie was out of her mind happy not only to be with her best friend but to stay in another country albeit Montana. Amy and Ty left first so the family said their goodbyes. A few tears were shed especially when Amy and Ty said goodbye to a confused JT. Lyndy would be leaving in the morning so she was going to stay with them in the loft the first night. A phone text tree was established with Amy, Casey, Lou, Georgie, Gwen's mom and Wyatt since he had a phone already. They would all text the group when everyone arrived at their individual locations. It also allowed each person to give an update if they chose to and finally if something happened a phone call could be made. They decided no phone calls unless it was necessary. As they headed out the door everyone said one last goodbye.

Ty and Amy decided to take old blue leaving the big SUV for Georgie to use. As they sat right next to each other Amy leaned her head onto Ty's shoulder remembering all of the fond memories. As she daydreamed Ty kissed her head and said, "Where are you right now." She sighed heavily, "just thinking about all the memories that this truck has for me. I love this truck and I really love you. I can't wait to spend 5 whole days with the man of my dreams. After a quick stop they headed out for their last leg of the trip. As the mountains faded in the rear-view mirror the city of Vancouver loomed ahead. They were not city people so the place they booked was north of the city in Horseshoe Bay, a secluded area that was a short drive to shops and restaurants. The location was recommended by an old college friend whose in-laws owned it so they got a real good price and the prime cabin on the water. Amy even found a place where they could rent horses and ride on the beach. It was the perfect place to go and they were excited.

Back home everyone was on their way except Lyndy who was leaving in the morning. JT was still a little out of sorts since his parents and sisters were all saying goodbye. He kept looking for them and asking where they were. Georgie's phone rang startling her and Cass was on the other end out of breath. "Georgie, I have a big favor to ask. We have to fly to Toronto for a couple of days, my father is ill and I have to go to see him. Since everyone is gone, I was hoping you could watch Ben. Maybe JT and him can keep each other occupied." Georgie agreed especially since JT could use the diversion. "Sure thing will you bring him over in the morning?" "Yes, oh my god you are a life saver, thank you so much," Cass said relieved. Lyndy overheard the conversation and as soon as Georgie hung up, she said, "Its settled I am staying home to help, These two can be a handful and I want to be here for you and Steven" Georgie grabbed her shoulders and looked directly into her eye, "Absolutely not young lady, you are going on the trip and you don't want to miss time with Wyatt. Anyway I was talking to Katie and she is going to stay with us to as well so between, Steven and I, my mom and Katie, we got it." Lyndy went to speak and Georgie hugged her before she could.

Amy and Ty had checked in and were being taken by golf cart to their cabin by the owners who were happy to meet a school friend of their son-in-law. The area was breathtaking and their cabin was a lot more beautiful than they imagined. After goodbyes hugs and handshakes they settled in. The cabin had a nicely appointed kitchenette, a large living room with a gas fireplace and huge windows. Per his friend's suggestion they had picked up some groceries because as Ty knew Amy loved her food. The lodge also had room service, a complimentary breakfast every morning and a happy hour from 5-7pm so visitors could mingle. Off the living room and master bedroom was a large deck overlooking the water and a walkway down to a deck with chairs and a fire pit right on the water. The master bedroom and bathroom were unbelievable. A large king size bed, sitting area with another fireplace. The bathroom had a huge walk-in shower and claw foot tub for two. There was a smaller second bedroom that was part reading room as well with a well-stocked library. As they walked around holding hands, Ty leaned into Amy and said, "We could spend the whole week in here." Amy flirtatiously looked into his eyes, "So you think you are going to get lucky hey." The kissed passionately and went to unpack. There was going to be plenty of opportunities for alone time.

Amy and Ty fell back on the bed panting heavily. Amy breathlessly said, "Who knew unpacking could be so romantic." Ty chuckled, "I can't believe we finished in time before you attacked me. You were amazing, we may have to pace ourselves, I don't know if I can keep up with you Miracle Girl." Amy rolled over on top of Ty and said, "Old man you better get ready, you ain't seen nothing yet." Since it was later the ordered a light dinner. The went out to the deck, which also had a small heater, sat in their robes and fed each other fruits, cheeses, jams and breads. It was heaven as the laughed joke and kissed each other. There was no talk of kids, work and the new business. It was just them in love and as happy as ever. Ty asked, "Amy do you want some hot chocolate with marshmallows of course." Amy looked as he stood up dreamily, "Why Dr Borden you know the way to a woman's heart." When he stood up, he shivered a bit and she said, "Are you ok." He laughed, "Well when all you have on is a robe it is a little cold under it," Opening his robe and giving her a show. She stared at him with lust in her eyes, "By the looks of things you definitely need to warmed up later, glancing below his waist. He huffed closing his robe and went to get the hot chocolate for his love. The night was far from over.

When Lyndy left for her trip, she was happy as JT and Ben seemed to be having a lot of fun. She sat with Maya and Wyatt as the bus pulled up to the camp site. They separated when the boys and girls were taking to their bunk houses but not before he lightly kissed her on the cheek. He also told her he would text that they were there and she reminded him to tell them that she loved them. Annie and Addie were up early. They were super excited about their first cattle drive and Casey and Tim, especially Tim were looking forward to being with the twins. Tim had packed the Truck and trailer the night before. They would be camping but also had the sleeping quarters in the trailer as a backup along with a bathroom, which the girls secretly were happy about. After a big breakfast they packed up the horses and were on their way. Casey looked back at the girls and asked, "Any message for your parents, I am texting them. Annie said to tell them that they love them and Addie added, "And remind them they already have 5 kids which is enough." Tim and Casey chuckled as she sent the text omitting the last comment.

Maddie was on top of the world. The car trip to Montana was so much fun. Gwen and she talked non-stop and her parents were so nice. They stopped to eat and let her have whatever she wanted. When they got near to the ranch, she was overwhelmed by the beauty of the cattle farm. And there were horses! Gwen's mom looked back at her and said she was texting her parents seeing if she wanted to tell them anything. "Tell them I love them and this place is awesome," she said hugging Gwen. The need to watch Ben really worked out well as JT and him were enjoying the time together keeping both of their minds off missing their parents. Georgie filled Amy in on the change in plans and told her they were having a lot of fun together. Amy responded back. "This is definitely a trail run for you, you will be ready for twins!" Georgie returned a text saying, "STOP that is not funny."

With nothing to do, Amy and Ty slept in late, almost until 9:00am. Amy woke up first looking at her wonderful husband thinking about their night, which ended well after midnight. Ty blinked his eyes and looked into the most beautiful blue eyes in the world. "You know it's not polite to stare." She smiled, "I could stare at those beautiful green eyes all day." The surveyed their situation. Clothes and robes were strewn all over the cabin. Luckily maid service was only on request. Amy seductively said, "Ty we have been naked for almost 15 hours, I kind of like the view," as Ty got up out of bed in full view of her captivated eyes. "You are incorrigible Mrs. Borden but I have to say you are hot and sexy and sensual and hot." He babbled. She jumped out of bed and kissed him passionately as their tongues tangled. The moved into the shower and as Ty turned on the water, she jumped up wrapping her legs around him. He whispered into her ear, "This looks promising," Amy didn't respond but reach down to make sure he was ready for her. They stood close to each other using their hands and lips to ignite every part of each other's body. They made sure that they met the needs of each other in every way possible. When they joined it was slow and romantic. Their love was unmatched and as the both reach their peak, Amy slid off and held him kissing his lips. Panting she said, "Lets clean up, I want to explore." "So was that not exploring?" He asked with a smirk. She hesitated and then responded breathing heavily, "Well I have to admit you did some amazing exploring in the shower but I was thinking a hike, some shopping and we do have a dinner reservation tonight." He looked at her and smiled, "Sounds great" but then frowned, "But I guess we will have to get dressed."

The nibbled on some breakfast stuff, packed a light lunch with a blanket and headed out for a hike. There were several trails on the lodge property and took one suggested by the desk person. It was amazing as they walked through pristine woods and ended up eating lunch on an overlook of the whole property. The held hands laughed and talked about random things. Just being together was the only thing they needed. Midafternoon they got back to the cabin and took a short nap on the deck. After they rested, they changed into nicer clothes, hopped in the truck to head into town and do some shopping before their 7:00pm reservation. They walked through the stores making notes on items they would by the kids. In one store Amy was looking at something and Ty noticed a necklace that he thought would be perfect for Amy. It was a gold chain with a black onyx horse in full gallop. He quietly talked to the employee behind the counter, slipped her a credit card and asked her to gift wrap it and hold it for him. She discretely handled the transaction, handed his card back just in time. Amy was walking quickly over to him holding up two dresses. "Ty these are so awesome, which one looks better for me." He laughed, "Well Amy I have to see them on." She giddily went to the dressing room and the clerk whispered, let me get that ready now. Ty smiled as Amy came out spinning around showing the dress to him. He was breathless, The dress was royal blue with one shoulder exposed that fit her curves perfectly. The hem was a little above the knee and the top showed a little more than her typical flannel. He couldn't speak as she walked over to him nibbling his ear, "I guess you like it,"

She headed back to the dressing room the attendant handed him the beautifully wrapped box that he slipped in his pocket. "Pardon me for saying but that dress and your wife are beautiful. How long have you two been together?" She asked timidly. "Well we have been together off and on for over twenty years, married for almost 14. And this may be hard for you to believe but we have 5 kids, 4 girls and a little boy." Her mouth dropped as Amy came out beaming with dress #2. "I can't believe you have 5 children, you both look so young and not to be too out of line, you are a beautiful couple." Amy blushed and put her head in Ty's chest and proudly answered, "He is pretty hot isn't he, and our children are our life. We have an almost 13yr old daughter, almost 11yr old twins and a 7-year-old girl going on 18. And our little spoiled man is 15 months. They mean everything to us."

Ty interrupted the conversation and said they should look at this dress. I was a little more conservative but fit her even better that then the first on. The attendant spoke up, "I would say this is more formal than the first on but you look amazing. And it really brings out your husband's green eyes," she blushed saying she was sorry for saying that. Amy spoke up, "Its ok his eyes are amazing and you don't have to be sorry. I catch wandering eyes on him all the time, it comes with the territory." Huggin his wife he said, "Same for me, when Amy walks in men's eyes turn. I can't tell you how many times I have seen wives smack their husbands as she walked by. I am a lucky man." Amy blushed, "Ty stop that." "You two are too cute," the employee said turning red. "Well I love both dresses and since they can be used for different events, I say we get both" Ty said as he continued to hug Amy. "Seriously Ty, its way too much," gazing at her husband. "Mrs. Borden, you deserve it. I mean come on you have five children and are a gorgeous." She added as Amy wondered how she know her name. Ty caught is an handed his credit card over to get the dresses. They gathered up their bags, dropped them off in the truck and headed to the restaurant.

The restaurant they went to was recommended by Lisa as she had eaten there several times on business. The restaurant was very romantic and the view outside their window table was beautiful. They had a drink before dinner, Amy even indulging in glass of wine that Ty finished. Since they were renowned for their seafood menu, they shared an appetizer of chilled prawns with an amazing sauce to dip in. After a dinner salad Amy ordered the halibut garnished with a cream sauce, capers and asparagus for her side while Ty chose the sea scallops cooked in a buttery sauce with a vegetable medley of carrots and snap peas. The meals were amazing and they made sure they each had a chance to share. It seemed that they always did and as usual Ty was amazed at how his petite wife could consume food with such vigor. For dessert the ordered and assortment of sharable chocolate treats and ended with coffee. "This is not a typical meal for us." Amy gasped sitting back in her chair. "I am so full." Smiling she reached over and grabbed Ty's hand, "I love you so much, this trip was an amazing idea."

When it came time to settle the bill, they were handed an envelope with a card. Amy read it aloud. "To the most amazing parents in the world, dinner is on us." The card was signed by all their kids, even JT scratched something on it. Each daughter wrote a personal note and as they read them tears formed in their eyes. The waiter looked over concerned and asked, "Is everything OK?" Ty spoke up, "We're good, we just have amazing children." "Oh how many children do you have," he continued. Amy spoke proudly, "We have 4 girls and 1 boy who we love more than life." "Well I have 6 kids and to be honest I feel the same about them. They are my heart and soul and I couldn't be prouder of each of them," he gloated. He thanked them for coming in and they told him to tell the chef that the food was outstanding. Ty took a large bill and slipped it into his hand. Before he could protest Ty simply said, "Thank You." They decided to take a leisurely walk along the water back to their truck. They held hands and kissed each other as they moved along looking at the boats and water. It was pretty warm for the time of year so their coats kept them warm.

As they walked a family with three young daughters approached them. Ty heard the middle girl whispering to her mom, "Mommy I know that is her, it's the Miracle Girl, I have seen her on the internet." Her mother tried to shush her but she couldn't help herself and blurted out, "Are you the Miracle Girl for real." Amy blushed and said, "Well yes honey I am." "Oh my god I can't believe it is really you. I have followed you on the internet watching everything you have done. You are my idol. I love horses because of you. My horse's name it Sprinkles. I try all the time to do some things with him that I have learned from you." Her father grabbed her and apologized saying, "Sorry Ella really loves horses and as you see she admires what you have accomplished." Amy smiled at the young girl, "Lets sit over here and we can talk about Sprinkles." Ty watched with the parents and marveled at how Amy interacted with the three young girls. They were on the edge of their seats actively engaged talking with her. Amy's eyes were bright as she laughed and shared stories with them. The mother leaned over to Ty and said, "Your wife is amazing and so nice to talk to the girls." Well we have four daughters and a son so she kind of likes kids and you are right she is amazing." The parent finally pulled the girls away as it was getting late and after pictures and an invite to the Equine Center they went on their way.

Amy and Ty got back to the cabin without a need to talk. When they pulled up Amy looked at Ty and said quietly, "I miss the kids." Ty held her tightly and whispered in her ear, "Remember time apart makes us stronger." Amy had to ask, "Ty why did that person at that store know my name. Did you say something." Ty knew this going to up so he decided to own up. "Well she knew it because I had already bought something for you. I was planning to give it to you later but now is just as good a time as ever." He pulled out the nicely wrapped box from his coat pocket. Amy's eyes opened wide in amazement as she opened the box. When she pulled out the tissue paper, she looked at him and burst into tears sobbing uncontrollability. Ty was really concerned as he hoped she didn't react to it badly because it looked like Spartan. Before he could respond Amy lunged at him kissing him passionately. "Ty this is beautiful and I love it so much. It looks just like Spartan." She hesitated and kissed him again. "Thanks to you I will always have him close to my heart. I don't think I have ever received such a thoughtful and personal gift. You are amazing and I can't wait to show it to everyone." She giggled and kissed him deeply as he carried her into the cabin for a night of passionate lovemaking. The necklace would never leave her.

The rest of the week was amazing especially the horse ride on the beach. It reminded Amy of the ride they took just before their wedding at Eagle Lake. She couldn't believe it but she fell more in love with Ty every day. Their days were packed with shopping, great dinners at restaurants and the cabin and seeing the sites. Their nights were filled with love, holding each other and countless kisses and lovemaking. Each night was more passionate as the one before as they continued to realize that they were deeply in love. Friday morning they packed up anxious to get home to hear about the adventures of the kids. They were Amy and Ty and their life was perfect.
