Everyone was in speechless awe at the crystal chamber when they got into it. There was a secret entrance from the outside between a narrow wedge that Inichi was able to carefully widen for better access. He was going to ensure that no one could find the entrance to this special chamber, though. Wind Crane was very protective here, but she did nudge a few loose crystals over to Tacki to see if she could do something with them. Tacki was thrilled and she had Inichi send them home for her.
"That dress is gorgeous!" Kianna said to Mitsumi.
"You think?" Mitsumi laughed. Saitama was still holding her close, and he was clearly refusing to set her down.
"What place is this?" Puri-Puri Prisoner asked.
"You could say it's a wedding chamber," Mitsumi nodded. Now the others were in shock and full of awe at it.
"What happened?" Zombieman asked.
"Eh…I was married to her. By her clan traditions. Apparently," Saitama shrugged. "As Mitsumi said, this is a special chamber for weddings. I wasn't sure if I should just fully marry her the way people want. Publicly, that is."
"Master Saitama, I would highly suggest that you wait until Miss Mitsumi is pregnant," Genos said. "You have stated this constantly. Wait until then."
"I know…" Saitama sighed and kissed Mitsumi's palm when she caressed his cheek. "Just…tired of people thinking they can have her for themselves."
"What?" Zenchu looked at him. "Over my dead body. She's yours. I won't let anyone else touch her."
"You think we'd allow that?" Tsuruga snorted.
"Never," Shenjou growled. All the others were in full agreement now.
"Good. So, what's the plan?" Saitama asked now.
"That researcher is still with us. We need to get rid of him," Rendor grunted. "He's starting to creep me out."
"How?" King asked.
"It's like he's starting to idolize the Wind Crane Clan! I get it. They were powerful and amazing back then. But there's something…weird about him now," Rendor frowned and looked at Inichi.
"Rendor, you are quite correct. He is enthralled with everything. He's getting it into his head that he may even be able to sway Lady Mitsumi to his side to get her to teach him secrets," Inichi frowned.
"I told him we were from Neutral Grounds, but I don't think he heard me," Kamiko frowned. "Then again, Lady Mitsumi is also in the hero rosters. Anyone can tell him where to find her."
"I'll slap him if he tries something," Saitama muttered.
"I don't think he'd have the courage," Mitsumi smiled and pressed a kiss to Saitama's mouth. "And I think you need some kind of a wedding ring, too. Or we…change the color of your zipper?"
"I can wear a temporary wedding band under my glove. When we are publicly married, we'll improve the ring. I have no issues with that," Saitama smiled and let her press into him. "You and the zippers…"
"I'd play with it…but I'll wait until we get home," she winked at him to get him laughing softly at her.
"They do have promise rings out there," Fubuki chuckled. Now the other couples there looked at each other with ideas.
"We can acquire a few," Inichi agreed.
"I'll need to get back to the prison. I…also have some thinking to do," Puri-Puri Prisoner sighed. "So many decisions to make! I just don't know."
"If you want to go back now, I can send you," Inichi said.
"You may as well," Puri-Puri Prisoner nodded. "Until I meet all of my new, wonderful friends again!"
"Of course," Tsuruga nodded and watched Inichi send him off. They all waited until the S class hero was secured before they settled to discuss what to do about the researcher.
"Were you really interested in that guy?" Shenjou asked Tsuruga.
"To a point. I honestly don't care who I'm with if there is a mutual feeling. But I will not be with someone that has to be with others to feel good about themselves. I'd end up goring them all. It's why I need a strict one-on-one deal. No excuses," Tsuruga shrugged. "It was done to me before. Before I…huh. Now…that's interesting…"
"What?" Inichi blinked at him. "Oh! You recall how you may have changed? From a jealous rivalry?"
"I remember…I had a fight with a girl. She was cheating on me. I told her I was done and to beat it. The next day, I had to work on the range with the cattle. I didn't own them. Just one of the ranchers. I sat down after rounding up some stragglers in the herd and found a place I always sat down to rest at. I drank from a canteen that I always kept close while I worked. Then I fell asleep and woke up like this. I remember where I left everything, too. Inichi…focus and see if you can find this," Tsuruga said and brought up an image. The floating blue monster closed his eyes and frowned.
"I will need to visit the area, I'm afraid. Humans are one thing. Objects in open areas are another. Give me the visual of where you were before. When I got the box from Chikao, his images and memories were fresh. Yours are fuzzy."
"Is Child Emperor still here? We lost track of him when we got to the desert," Zombieman frowned.
"I'm here!" the boy smiled and darted over. "Yeah, I was gathering information to pinpoint exactly where we were. When the monster attacked, I stayed back. You all had it covered."
"That we did," Sneck nodded and looked at Shenjou.
"I need to check on the Tanktop Army. Inichi, let's find out about that researcher. Then you can send me back," Tanktop Master said.
"If you can find the canteen, I'll run some tests to see if something was in the water," Child Emperor nodded.
"Like with me?" Fumio grinned.
"Yep!" Child Emperor grinned back.
"Anyways, let's go check out that researcher," Rendor said. "I don't want him to do too much on his own."
"He is not. I've been muddling his mind with thoughts to buy us time," Inichi mused and was able to ensure everyone left the special chamber first.
"Let me hold your costume, Lady Mitsumi," Tacki said and collected it to put it in one of her larger overalls pocket. "Oh! You're wearing your shoes? Red doesn't really go with this. Your gloves are…with the costume. Same with the sleeves. Okay. I'll make you matching stuff when we get home."
"Thanks. It was just the gown that was there. I don't think there was anything else," Mitsumi shrugged. Wind Crane nipped at a smaller crystal that was growing that could be broken down into decorative pieces. This was now given to Tacki to hold on to.
"What type of crystals are these?" Tacki asked on holding it up in the sunlight. Then she gasped when the sun refracted into it and made a full rainbow spectrum of colors to illuminate the desert. Even Mitsumi's white dress was doing the same thing from the crystal chips in it. Wind Crane was quick to block the sun with her wings to keep the dazzling down.
"That's…wow…" Zenchu said. "I've never seen that before!"
"This must be the purest quartz crystal I've ever seen," Child Emperor said and examined what Tacki was holding. Wind Crane shook her head at him and clacked her beak. "What?! This all came from your egg?!"
"Really?" Inichi asked and looked at her. "Ah. So, your egg had the same crystalline substance? And when it broke…so…your egg truly landed there? But the field of flowers…?"
:I LANDED WHERE THE FLOWERS ARE. THE CLAN MOVED THE REMNANTS OF MY SHELL HERE TO BE PROTECTED IN THE TEMPLE. ON DOING SO, IT FORMED THE CRYSTALS. THAT IS WHAT I KNOW. THE TRUE TREASURE OF THE WIND CRANE CLAN IS THAT CAVE. ALSO, THINK ON THIS. SOME CRYSTAL FORMATIONS TAKE CENTURIES TO GROW. THE LARGEST CRYSTALS ARE AROUND 600 OR SO YEARS OLD. SAME AS ME.:
"Ah! That would make sense!" Inichi blinked.
"So…is my gown made from your egg?" Mitsumi asked.
:THE GOWN WAS MADE A HUNDRED YEARS LATER. BUT, YES, THE CRYSTAL PARTS ARE FROM IT, TOO.:
"And that was when the crystals were discovered? How interesting!" Inichi said. "And yet…that entire chamber was covered in crystalline prisms? Wouldn't that seem like intense growth if that was the case? Even the stairs were made of the same crystal! Something isn't adding up to me…"
"We'll look into it later," Saitama said. "I want to get rid of the researcher. Then I want to go home. And Tsuruga needs that canteen. We can revisit this later when we have more time. We know where it is. It's not going anywhere."
"Ah. Of course, Mr. Saitama," Inichi agreed and carefully sealed the entrance to the precious cavern after they were clear of it. The group was now able to head back into the main temple opening. The researcher was there trying to take pictures and video clips of all the carved images.
"What are you doing?!" Mitsumi asked with a touch of annoyance.
"Oh! Ah…well…just…documenting for myself…" he said flustered on turning around. Then he paused on seeing what she was wearing.
"We never said you could take footage," Genos frowned. "Memories should be enough. You can always show such things to the public and endanger this place. You need to remove the pictures and video footage now, please."
"No! Do you have any idea of how valuable this place is to those that long to know more about the Wind Crane Clan? Much less knowing that there is an actual Wind Crane Clan assassin that is still in existence?!" the researcher argued. Genos paused at this and did a mental scan for what online signal he was able to access. Then he gasped with shock.
"You've been live streaming your research!" Genos exclaimed.
"Ah…" the researcher paled.
"You vowed not to expose me! Of any of this!" Mitsumi said furiously and her fans came out on their own with the blades exposed. "Now I'm at risk of being attacked and this temple desecrated!"
"But…the opportunity was too strong to ignore!" the researcher said. Then he gaped when the monsters glared at him. Wind Crane was ready to lunge and eat him. It was Tanktop Master and Sneck that were quick to grab the man and haul him out of the temple.
"I blocked any feeds from him. I am also going to try and remove as much as I can," Genos said and focused.
"I'm contacting Metal Knight!" Child Emperor said and relayed the issue.
"It will be easy for me to hide this place," Inichi said to calm Mitsumi down. Saitama kept staring at where the researcher was taken away outside.
"Inichi. Get that feather back, please," Saitama said. "And get any phones, cameras and other stuff, too."
"Done," Inichi said. "And he kindly gave me the unlock code to his phone!"
"I'll remove everything from the temple on it, Master Saitama," Genos said and began to do just that. The feather was given to Tacki, and she stuck it in her hair pin for now. Kamikaze blinked at how cute that looked.
"Good. I was going to have you do that. You can give him the phone back after," Saitama nodded.
"Miss Tatsumaki has him levitated when he tried to run. He cannot go anywhere. I can take him to wherever location we need him to go," Inichi said.
"Send him to the prison and have Puri-Puri Prisoner say hello?" Kamikaze asked. That got Zenchu dying with laughter.
"It would be a nice test to see if he gives in to a whim," Tsuruga mused.
"I informed Puri-Puri Prisoner of a discreet guest. He accepts the chance to…try and curb a few things," Inichi said.
"Do it. That guy promised me he wouldn't do anything, too. He lied to me. To my face. Get rid of him, please," Saitama nodded.
"You can take this back to him. I also have recordings of him stating he would do no such thing. I never stopped recording after the monster was killed," Genos said with a small smile. "So, we have collateral."
"Very good!" Inichi praised him. "I have returned the phone to that one. One moment while I deliver him to the prison."
"Hey," Saitama said to Mitsumi to have her look at him. "What's going on? Is everything okay?"
"I really hope that no one tried to download anything he uploaded…" Mitsumi sighed hard.
"Metal Knight is already looking for any new posts on the Wind Crane Clan to fully disprove everything. He did get the footage for himself, and he would really like to see if he can provide security for us here. He's amazed! And he does know that secrecy like this must be kept," Child Emperor said. "He vows that he won't share the footage, but he wants to see if he can decipher some of the wall carvings. We don't want this place under threat. He knows it needs to be kept protected, too."
"It does," Zombieman nodded. He looked over to see Sneck and Tanktop Master walk in to show the guy was gone.
"Okay. I need to go home. I'm starving," Saitama said and carried Mitsumi out of the temple. The others were quick to agree with him. "I'm sure we'll come back here tomorrow after the restaurant. Unless something else happens."
"Wait! Um…should Lady Mitsumi change first? I mean…if her gown is all sparkly won't it be a problem?" Tacki asked.
"Huh. Well…we should be okay. If anyone asks, we can just say it was us," Saitama said.
"I think she should change," Kamiko said with Kianna nodding in full agreement. "We don't want that gown dirty."
"I could clean it, but it is a very special gown," Richoo said.
"Fine…" Saitama sighed. Tacki gave over the hero costume, and he moved far back into the temple with Wind Crane neatly blocking anyone from viewing the change of dresses. The bridal gown was given to Tacki soon after, and she had a beaming idea.
"Oh! Do you think I could stitch small crystals into each fan? Like into the eyes of the crane? It would stun the enemy!" she grinned. Now Wind Crane clacked her beak with solid approval for not thinking of that tactic. "Sweet! I'll see what I can do when we get home!"
"Hmm. Ah. Bane does wish to meet up at home. He found something! Charanko was able to find what he was sure he had. Shall we go?" Inichi asked. Mitsumi let all the fans out to fly back with Saitama holding on to her. Wind Crane gathered up the family with Inichi helping with those that were able to be transported with him.
"This is nice," Saitama smiled and kissed Mitsumi's cheek while she flew them back home.
"Isn't it?" she blushed.
"Yeah. I think…it would be nice to just fly with you. I really like this," he admitted. "It's nice and quiet, too."
"It can be," she agreed. "I just can't fly too high. It will be hard for me to breathe. I need to be low enough that it's good, but I'm still flying high enough to be out of the way."
"Yeah."
"Also, if we are under attack, I can have two fan sets attack for me. I only need to keep eight of them for flight," she chuckled.
"Oh, yeah!" he blinked and grinned lightly. Then he looked over at Wind Crane flying with them with Zenchu sitting in her mouth. "When are you gonna bite down on him?!"
"Shut up!" Zenchu scowled back to get Mitsumi giggling and shaking her head. "That's not funny!"
"So, you'd rather have me slap you than her bite you?!" Saitama called out over the wind. Now Zenchu went quiet and flipped him off as a retort. Kamikaze was shivering with laughter at the whole thing.
"You can bite me!" Zenchu snapped at him to get Saitama snickering.
"Just have Wind Crane do that for me! You're already in her mouth!" Saitama pointed out to get Zenchu cringing at the solid truth.
"Enough!" Mitsumi finally said.
"He started it!" Zenchu said.
"Children…I swear…" Inichi sighed and chuckled. Mitsumi breathed a sigh of relief when their home was in sight, and she began to gently let herself start to lower and prepare to land. When she did land, she didn't expect to see a small mob of heroes that followed them and wondered what all the fuss was about. Her fans reformed into the ten circular sets to hover over her protectively.
"What's going on?" Mitsumi frowned and Saitama kept his arms around her.
"Oh! That was you?!" a C class hero asked wearing some form of a skin-tight suit that looked like weight lifter mixed with a scuba diver.
"Yes. I can fly with my fans," she shrugged.
"And that bird monster?!" another C class hero asked wearing something that resembled a chicken uniform.
"Her name is Wind Crane. She is an ally and will be on the Neutral Grounds photo wall tomorrow," Inichi said. "You all do not need to be here. You may leave. If you do not leave, I shall call forth Sweet Mask and other associates."
"Hmm…" King glared at them all with Kianna secured against his side.
"Yeah, you kids can run off home. We're fine," Kamikaze said and chewed on the stick in his mouth. Tacki was sitting on his shoulders again. He glanced up at her when she started to pick at his top ponytail. "Hey! What are you doing?"
"Fixing it," she grinned.
"No…" he grimaced and moved to take her to their apartment room.
"But you had it all crooked!" she said.
"I said no," he said again and paused at the sight of a box that was sitting outside their door. "What's that?"
"Oh! I forgot. I made an empty crate for us and left it out here before we left. I wanted it to be a surprise," she grinned widely. Now he paused and tilted his head up to look at her. He had to go over to it and lift the lid to find a small bed in it. That got the others dying with laughter.
"This…is so stupid…" Kamikaze said. "Can it get into our apartment?"
"Yes," she nodded. Inichi was quick to help with that.
"I'll see what Bane found. In ten minutes. Can this thing even hold us?!" Kamikaze mused and pulled Tacki down to carry her inside their apartment home. Mitsumi was in tears laughing and Saitama had to carry her inside their fourth floor home.
"Whatever happened to Lighting Max? We never saw him since we got back from after the event at the desert," Kianna frowned.
"Ah. He is down below in the new basement. He had some ideas for security cameras from the home in City X," Genos said. "I can check on him with Kamiko. That will be fine."
"He's gonna be mad that he missed the temple," Zenchu grinned. Then he looked at the other heroes there. "Please be on your way. We are the monsters from the Neutral Grounds restaurant. If you don't leave, you'll be seen as trespassing. I thought we had the wall set up…"
"I am Wall Smasher! I made sure we could all get in to investigate!" a low B class hero wearing a cinder block suit of armor with a helmet said with pride. Now Mitsumi walked right back out with Saitama to glare at him.
"I own this entire part of the city. You are trespassing," Mitsumi said with a hard frown. "The Hero Association is aware of this. Inichi! Get Sweet Mask! Now! I'm done with this!"
"Hmm…he's in a meeting…" Inichi frowned.
"He can't do anything! Where there are monsters, I'm there to kill them!" Wall Smasher said valiantly. Now Kamikaze was watching where he was with Tacki, and he was protectively standing in front of her. King was now standing on the balcony railing with Kianna frowning next to him. Genos was recording and had Kamiko making phone calls. Bane was soon brought over, and he was now regarding the small group with a frown. Sneck was also still there and he was planning to talk to that one on the side if he ever had a chance.
Tanktop Master and Zombieman were still there with Child Emperor. Lightning Max was reached out to, and he was furious that he missed out on the temple expedition. He was promised that he'd get to go to the next one, and he was now on the first floor railing to see where to help put up some security cameras. He didn't want this to happen again.
"Really? They broke my wall?!" Tatsumaki sighed angrily and looked up at Rendor. "Can I call them names? Please?!"
"No," Rendor smiled and kept her at his side.
"This is so pathetic…" Fubuki shook her head. Wind Crane was perched on top of the apartment complex to watch everything silently.
"Stay here," Saitama said to Mitsumi and planted a kiss on her mouth. On looking at the group, he said, "You do know that there are nine S class heroes right in front of you. And none of us have been attacked by the monsters that you are claiming you need to kill. Right?"
"Ah…what…?!" Wall Smasher gaped. Saitama now walked down the steps and right up to the hero.
"Hit me. I'll let you get the first shot in," Saitama said and crossed his arms over his chest to give a blank stare.
"He's pissed…" Zenchu winced and moved to protect Mitsumi. Wall Smasher couldn't back out now, and he swung his fist right into Saitama's face. When he saw that nothing happened, or even a bruise, Saitama only sighed with boredom at the attempt. Even worse was that his cinder block fist armor crumbled away to leave his hand free.
"My turn. I'm rank 3 in S class. Just so you know," Saitama said slapped at the cinder block armor. It flung the guy back through the hole he made and straight through the building behind him. When he was found by the other heroes, his armor was deteriorated and destroyed. Then Saitama looked at the other heroes there. "Go home. Now."
"Y-yes, S-s-sir!" one of them said to have the others quickly leave. Tatsumaki was already repairing the hole that was done and planned to work on the wall even more later.
"Anyways, I'm hungry," Saitama said and was quick to rush back up the stairs, grab Mitsumi to scoop her up and carry her into the fourth floor home. Within the hour, they were all served up portions of deer cooked in various ways. Saitama and Mitsumi were dressed in civilian clothes to enjoy the wonderful meal with a side of Peking duck and white rice.
"Mmm…" Mitsumi sighed with sheer delight at the soft texture of the meat.
"We need a stock of this," Saitama grinned and tore into his steak.
"I can procure three more deer easily. We do have the freezer space?" Inichi asked Orotsu. The octopus monster checked and grumbled.
"I believe it is time to expand this floor to include the other side. If I am to cook like this, then it's a must. Or we build a whole new building just for my cooking needs. How many walls did we knock out so far?" Orotsu asked.
"We took out all of them, but we made some into doorways. Fumio's room is the fourth room on the opposite side. We made a doorway to that room from this side and sealed off the kitchen area. I was thinking that Master Saitama and Miss Mitsumi would have claimed the top floor by now," Genos said and ate with Kamiko calmly.
"We claimed the corner right room, though," Rendor said and tore into his deer steak with joy.
"Yeah. We did. We don't have much there, though," Tatsumaki said. "I just like living on the highest floor. Easier to get out of."
"What time is it?" Saitama asked.
"It's getting close to sunset," Zenchu said.
"Oh. Before I forget," Bane said after he finished eating and brought out a small box. Mitsumi took it from him when it was given over, and she blinked at the crane decoration she revealed on the outside of another box. On opening this, she gasped and pulled out something that resembled a piece of a crystal shell.
"This…it can't be…?!" Mitsumi blinked with shock. Now a pecking was done on the door to be opened to reveal Wind Crane there. She was doing all she could to keep from squawking with excitement. "It is! It's a piece of her original eggshell! I mean…this is just…how?!"
"I found it a long time ago for sale. I was told it was some random artifact that was found. In a desert temple," Bane said with a small smile.
"This was stolen," Saitama said.
"Apparently it was. Now it is being given back freely," Bane chuckled. Mitsumi almost jumped up to hug the older man, but Saitama had her hug him instead to keep from spooking him. Don't need Bane to feel what she's like against him. Nope. That's only for me!
"There are no crystalline formations, though," Inichi frowned.
"Well, this box isn't stone. It's made of…metal? So, you would think that crystals have to grow on rock, right?" Mitsumi said. That got Inichi thinking, but he paused when Tatsumaki was already bringing a small boulder down into the middle of the main walking area next to the apartment.
"Way ahead of you," Tatsumaki said. "I don't know if it's hollow, though."
"I can help," Shenjou said, but Wind Crane was already pecking at the rock carefully to chisel it out. Now they realized that this was how the cave was formed for the temple.
"Wind Crane, did you make all those carvings?" Child Emperor asked. The rewarding chuckle she gave confirmed his suspicions. "Can you help us decipher them? I mean…"
"Ah. We must figure it out. She'll reveal those secrets to Lady Mitsumi and Mr. Saitama only. It is for their eyes. Not ours," Inichi nodded and levitated the hollowed rock to let it sit with a flat surface on the ground. Now the piece of shell was set on the bottom of the inside of it. "Is the tunnel under the home built?"
"Yep! We'll have to move some things around, but we can definitely set that in there," Lightning Max nodded. He was sent images of the crystal cave now, and he was swearing that he wasn't there to see it all.
"We'll likely go tomorrow. You can come with us," Saitama rolled his eyes.
"I want to see the lower floor now," Mitsumi said. "Then we can go to bed."
"Eh…okay," Saitama shrugged, but he scooped her up to follow where they were taking the hollowed rock.
"I also want to see if the place is filled with treasure, too…" she crooned into his ear. Now he looked at her and grinned to show his interest was piqued in full. He happily went to explore the newest part of their home with her in his arms to see what it looked like. He was as curious as she was now, and he was giggling that it was his and hers to share with each other for as long as they wanted it around.
