Chapter Fifty-Five
There For You
A/N – Marion Fleming is a big part of the Heartland world. I wanted to pay homage to her legacy since without her the Heartland Story of Amy and Ty would have never happened. Don't worry more Trudeau/Borden bonding in the future. Maybe even a little romance. Things are calmed down after the big visit and even bigger announcement. And a little heartfelt Borden family love is on the way. I would really like to hear from you. Mature Content. Enjoy
I wanted to respond to a review concerned that the Trudeau storyline would go the way of Prince Ahmed's antics. I can assure you that that is the farthest thing from my goal. This story is about Amy and Ty, as well as their children. The Trudeau story line has developed a little more than I expected but I can assure you it will be nothing but positive. I researched the Canadian political look, which I am not familiar with, and took the liberty to use the current leader as a guidepost. I have no clue about his family so that is truly my fictional rendition. I always have envisioned Amy and Ty aligning with people of similar values and I believe I have portrayed their relationship that way. Sorry if it concerned you but be comforted that it will not happen that way. Thanks so much for you feedback and I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
The business was still on a high after the special visitors. The rest of the time that the Trudeau girls were there they had a blast. Haley and Elena and continued to hone their horse skills. Haley really enjoyed the night out with Lyndy, Wyatt and some of their friends. Rusty from the youth program came to as the two of them were beginning to hang out together. Haley made sure she talked to Amy about it so she wasn't' out of line spending a little more time with him. After dinner the day before the movie night Haley got Amy's attention wanting to talk to her alone. "Mrs. Borden, I talked to my mom and she wanted me to talk to you. I like Rusty and we have been hanging out a lot. He has really been helping me with my horse skills and I want to be able to sit with him at the movie tomorrow. My mom just wanted me to talk to you about it. I hope it is Ok with you too." Amy smiled at her, "Honey I talked to you mom and we are both more than Ok with it. Rusty is a fine young man and we know you are a smart girl." Giggling she added, "And we think you make a cute couple." Relieved Haley went to the barn to help with night chores.
The Trudeau twins were gaining confidence with their jumping and Elena had also began doing well. They followed Amy's wishes making sure, Georgie, Katie or Lyndy were with them. All of them marveled at the skills they each had, especially Lyndy who was considered one of the top jumpers in her age bracket in all of Alberta. Days consisted of chores, trail rides and working with horses. A couple of nights they had bonfires and socialized with the staff and family. Friendships were begin formed. Evey night the girls made sure they video called their mom. Amy and Ty also followed up with a call later to have an adult check in. Maryanne was a little lonely since the PM was in Europe at a Climate Conference for 10 days. During the day Amy and her would randomly call each other as their friendship continued to grow. Sometimes they felt like schools girls as they talked about their men. The giggled and laughed as they shared secrets. In Amy's past the only other person she ever had a relationship with like and that was Soraya, who still lived in England. Maryanne was an only child and due to her position had very few friends. They bonded and knew they could count on each other and tell each other anything.
One day Amy was in the office and her phone rang. She smiled seeing Maryanne's name. When she picked it up she heard a shaky voice. "Maryanne what's wrong, is everything OK." She heard her trying to speak and encouraged her to take deep breaths. She finally was able to speak. "Amy we just got back from Bart's appointment. Amy it's worse than we thought. The doctor told Brad and I that he has to have emergency surgery tomorrow. It seems the congenital heart condition I told you guys about needs to be taken care of now. The prognosis is good but Amy I am scared. I spoke to Justin and he said he would head back immediately, but he can't be here until the weekend. This conference is a big deal and after talking I told him to stay. Amy what am I going to do." Ty had walked in the office and noticed his wife concerned look. She put her hand over the phone and filled him in after letting Maryanne know Ty was there. Putting his hand on her shoulder she got the strength to respond. "Maryanne, I will be there as soon as I can. Ty is already looking for flights. Honey I will be there for you. Bart will be fine, we will make sure of it." Maryanne broke down as she was relieved. Brad took the phone from her and thanked Amy. "Mrs. Borden, she really needs you." Amy spoke, "Brad, Ty just booked me a flight and I will be there by dinner." "Great we will send a car for you, thank you again," a relieved Brad said. After a few seconds a very shaken Maryanne spoke of the phone in a quiet voice, "Thank you Amy and thank Ty too. Tell Ty I will call the kids tonight when you get here and let them know." Amy cleaned up a few things on her email and went to pack. Lou would take her to the hospital so the kids wouldn't be alerted if her and Ty left together unannounced.
As the car pulled up to the hospital Brad was there to meet Amy. She jumped out of the car as the driver confirmed he would take her bag back to the PM's mansion. She embraced Brad, "Oh honey how are you. You have been so strong for your mom. I need to see her." He smiled and led her into the area Bart was in. Immediately Maryanne saw her friend and ran to embrace her. They held each other as mothers and friends. Amy rubbed her back, "I'm here for you, as long as it takes. Let's go see your son." Maryanne held her hand taking her to his room. The little guy's eyes lit up as he saw Amy. "Mommy? Mrs. Borden is here?" She went to hug him, "Hey buddy, JT says hi and Jack misses his fishing buddy." He giggled, "I love fishing." How are you doing honey," Amy asked. "I am Ok, I have to have a surgery. I am glad you are here, my mommy needs you." Startled a tear came to her eye. To think he is more worried about his mom than he is about himself. It overwhelmed her. Then he said something that took both of their breaths away. "I am going to be fine. When I was sleeping a nice lady told me everything would be Ok and my heart would be fixed." Maryanne looked puzzled, "A lady, do you know who she was?" It was the lady on the picture in the barn office. JT told me it was his Grandma who was in heaven. He told me he loved her and she was always there for the family." Maryanne and Amy were speechless as tears filled their eyes as they held each other tightly. Amy whispered, "Honey that is my mommy and she is very special to my family. I am so happy you met her." He smiled and calmly said, "She said she was your mom, misses you very much and that she loves you all very much. She was fun to talk to." He smiled as they both hugged him.
Back at home Ty had just told the kids what was going and they had a planned video call with Maryanne, Amy and their brothers. Ty had also spoken with Lou and Georgie and asked them to fill everyone as well as keep the young man in their thoughts. The Trudeau girls were shaken and could barely function. Ty had asked Katie and Georgie to come over as well for support. Haley spoke with tears in her eyes., "Dr. Borden, don't you think we should go be with him. He needs us." Ty spoke in a calm manner, "Girls, I know you all want to be there, but I talked to your mom and the doctors are optimistic and the little man will be out for a while recovering. She did say that Brad would be coming to get you on the plane instead of her and that once you got back home you all would go to the hospital. I know it is scary but it will all be Ok." They understood even JT who said, "I know my buddy will be good, my Grandma Marion told me so last night." Ezzie asked him with a questioning look. "What do you mean by that JT?" "Well I always have dreams about my grandma even though I never met her. We were on a trail ride and we were talking about the fishing trip. She loved the fishing camp. Anyway, she said the Bart was sick but she said he would be Ok. I trust her, she has never lied to me." Ty sat in astonishment as Amy and him had talked about Bart's dream. Addie looked at him with concern, "Daddy what's wrong?" He smiled, "Well I spoke to mom earlier and she told me that Bart had a dream about Grandma as well and she assured him he would be Ok. I just can't believe…" He stopped trying to compose himself. Maddie interrupted, "If grandma is involved everything is going to be fine, I know it."
After breakfast the next morning, Wyatt set up the laptop so everyone could be on the call. Right on time they saw the call come through from Amy. When the screen came on, they saw a smiling Bart, "Hi everyone, I can see you. Hey JT!" Seeing him in good spirits helped the Alberta group be at ease and the call went well. Maryanne talked about the surgery and said that with Amy or her would keep them updated. She spoke to the four girls, "I know it is a bit scary but Bart will be fine, I know it. You just need to take care of you chores and have fun. And I know you have a project today," Winking at them. She had been brought into the loop about the surprise the Borden girls were working on for their parents. They completely understood their mom. The call went on for a while longer until the girls reluctantly said goodbye. It would be a difficult day. At the hospital the call was uplifting for Bart as well as Amy, Maryanne and Brad. After a second video call from Justin, they nurses began prepping him for surgery. Maryanne stayed with him until the last moment as Brad, who was visibly shaken held on to Amy. Bart gave a sluggish kiss to his mom and thumbs up to his brother. They headed to the waiting room strong together.
Back at the ranch the Borden and Trudeau girls had saddled up and headed to their destination. JT was having a play day with the Stillman boys so he was occupied. As they arrived, Emmie gasped, "Your dad really built this for your mom, how romantic." Annie bragged, "I know and they were really young and had just met but my dad knew that my mom's horse couldn't get in a trailer and she couldn't jump him. So he looked it up and built this course for her so she could practice. We want to restore it to what it looked like so she can jump again." Elena smiled, "That is unbelievable, your dad is not only hot but amazing too." Maddie scrunched up her face. "Please don't call my dad hot, it's gross. I think my mom fell in love with him that day and I know my dad already had feelings for her." As they looked it over Clay and Katie pulled up pulling a trailer with a backhoe and other tools. They jumped out as Katie said, "Let's get started, we have work to do." As they began GG, Max, Georgie and Steven showed up to. The family was there to help and by the end of the day the jumping course was restored. Lyndy, who came up with the plan to surprise them and Wyatt stood arm in arm looking over the final product. He whispered, "Lyndy this is amazing, your mom and dad are going to be blown away.' The plan was to have a family trail ride when their mom returned and they were going to guide them that way. A fancy picnic lunch would be waiting, courtesy of Lisa Lou, Georgie and Katie, with plans for everyone, less Ty and JT to run the course. Lyndy snuggled into his shoulder, "I am so happy, this is something I have thought about for a while. My mom and dad are the best and we all can't wait to surprise them. I know it is just gonna be us kids but can you come too. I can't think of anyone else I would want to be here." Wyatt smiled, "Lyndy it would be an honor. Your family is everything to me and thank you for asking. I am overwhelmed."
With all the help they finished sprucing up the course and it looked fantastic. The girls even did a little practicing so they knew it was ready to go. The headed home anxious to see how things were going. The trip helped the Trudeau girls forget what was going on at home but the reality was that the surgery was most likely over. As they trotted up to the barn, Ty and JT greeted them and with tentative happiness they saw he had a smile on his face. At the hospital after waiting over 4 hours Amy looked up and saw the lead surgeon heading their way. Maryanne and Brad had closed their eyes sitting close to each other. Amy gently tapped her shoulder as her eyes shot open. "Maryanne, the doctor is heading this way." Due to the fact that it was the PM's child they were in a private waiting room on the surgical floor. He walked up and sat with them. "Well Madam Trudeau your son is a tough little guy. First is it Ok if I discuss the operation with Mrs. Fleming as well?" She nodded yes grabbing Amy's hand as he continued. "Well we were able to successfully repair the Aortic Stenosis and we are confident that his heart will develop normally. We will need to see him in 3 months and after that once a year. As you know we thought we had this taken care of when he was an infant, but in some cases we need to go back when the heart is a more developed. The good thing is the valve repair is sound and we expect that young Bart will have a normal active life." Maryanne was overwhelmed and hugged Brad and Amy. "I heard from him before he went under that he is a fisherman. Well he'll have a lot of trips in his future for sure." Maryanne spoke up, "When can we see him." Well a couple of you can see him now although he won't be awake for a bit." Amy immediately stepped in, "Maryanne you and Brad go, if it is OK I will call Justin and then Ty so he can tell the girls. I am so happy I could burst. Looks like my mom came through." They collapsed in each other's arms as they headed to see Bart and Amy got on her phone.
At the ranch the girls handed their horses to some ranch hands who came to help and ran to Ty. He hugged them telling them that Amy had just called and the surgery went really well. "Bart will make a full recovery and according to the doctor will be fishing soon. Your mom will try to call you tonight and your dad will be calling during dinner. Everyone is very happy right not but your little brother had not woken up yet. When he does Amy will let us know. Haley consoled her younger sisters. "Guys he is going to be Ok, Dr. Borden is right. Hopefully we will be able to at least see him tonight if not for sure tomorrow. And we will be heading home soon so we can overwhelm him with love and take care of him. He will need all of us." Elena smiled, "Mom, Dad and Brad will need us too. I can't imagine how it has been for Brad, he is really close with the little man." The girls all shook their heads in agreement. Maddie interjected, "When my mom was pregnant, she had some problems. The four of us set up a schedule so our mom we would be there if she needed us. You can do the same thing, I can help you organize it." Ty laughed, "You all are something, I think Bart, Brad and your parents are in good hands." They enjoyed an active dinner, but they all had keep from talking about the jumping course. They made up a story so they all were on the same page, of course that being Maddie's idea. They were happy when their father called from Europe. He only had a few minutes but they could see his happiness as well.
After dinner they cleaned up and got ready for bed. Ty had Lyndy and Wyatt to gather up the kids as he had a surprise for them. Although it was late it was worth it. They came down to the table in their PJs wondering what was up. When they walked in the room they saw Ty's laptop open and their mom and Amy on the screen with big smiles on their faces. "Hey girls how are you all, I know it is late but someone wants to say hi." She moved the picture to show Bart awake laying in the hospital bed in Brad's arms. "Hi everybody, I am awake," Bart said sleepily. The girls broke out in tears as they each said hello to their little brother. As the scene unveiled, The Borden kids watched in joy for their friends. Lyndy was in Wyatt's arms, the twins held each other and Maddie jumped in her Daddy's lap. Lyndy spoke up, "Dad I know he just went to bed but can I get JT?" He smiled as she ran into his room. "Hey JT wake up, Bart is on the phone, you want to talk to him?" Without a word he jump in her arms and went down to the dining room. He looked on the screen and saw his buddy. "Hey Bart, how are you feeling, ready to fish yet?" Bart smiled giving him a thumbs up said, "Not yet but soon. Your grandma said to tell you hi." Everyone sat there startled at what he said. As everyone's tears started to flow JT answered. "Yea she told me to tell you hi to, she is pretty cool." They nonchalantly continued talking for a few minutes like nothing had happened as everyone else listened in amazement.
The rest of the weekend went well for the visitors and Bart continued to progress well in his recovery. In fact the day after they got home he would be discharged from the hospital. Maryanne and Amy flew back to get the kids on Sunday afternoon. When they got off the plane they were met by a whole lot of happy faces, screaming and hugs. They had a half hour before the government plane had to head back to they met in a private room to catch up on everything. After long farewells the kids and Maryanne went to board the plane. Before she left Maryanne took Amy and Ty aside to thank them for everything. She grabbed Amy and talked to her alone, "Amy I want to thank you for being there for me. I really don't have any family and I consider you to be my new sister." Amy smiled, "I definitely have room for another sister and don't forget if you need anything please let me know." The Borden's watched them leave and board the plan. They had formed a new friendship with an amazing family. As they walked to the car, Ty had his arm around Amy. The had kissed but tried to keep it under control for the kid's sake. He whispered in her ear, "God Amy I have missed you so much."
In some ways dinner was little subdued since the Trudeaus had left but it was also joyous because young Bart was doing so well. And deep down the girls were excited about the surprise they had for their parents. So far their secret was protected as only Katie and Clay knew, a few others and the Trudeaus. At the end of dinner Addie was going to see if they could go on a family only trail ride Saturday. Amy noticed the subdued kids and spoke up. "Guys, I know we are all missing them so let's do this. Each of you tell everyone what the most fun things you did with the Trudeaus this week. JT you want to start?" He smiled, "I loved fishing and that Bart is OK." Maddie went next. "I really enjoyed hanging with, Gwen, Addie, Annie, Ezzie and Emmie. I like riding with them and was happy that they became friends with Gwen. They accepted her as a part of our group." Annie added, "I really liked jumping with Emmie and Ezzie." Addie smiled, "I liked that but do you know dad, Ezzie likes motorcycles and we cleaned the Norton and I told her all about it. The next time she comes she wants a ride." Lyndy held Wyatt's hand as she spoke, "Wyatt and I really liked working with Elena and Haley and the horses. Mom, they really got it and want to keep learning." She hesitated rubbing her eyes. "But mom the best thing of the week was when you didn't even hesitate to be with Mrs. Trudeau. Your caring and compassion are amazing and I know all of us are proud to be your children." Amy teared up as Ty spoke, "Well I agree Lyndy, in fact that is my best memory of the week. When she called I was booking the flight while she was still consoling Mrs. Trudeau. Your mom is the most amazing person I know, but I know you all feel that way too. I also was proud of each one of you how you supported the Trudeaus while they were still hear." Amy composed herself and added, "I agree with your Dad, you guys were awesome being there for them. I was also proud of how you took the responsibility all week to make sure the kids felt welcome. I am confident they had a great time and I believe you all have built strong friendships with each one of them. Thank you for being so wonderful."
The family cleaned up and the kids went to get ready for bed. Amy and Ty sat for a bit in the lounge catching up since they had been apart for a few days. Amy filled him in on Bart and the long-term prognosis which was promising. Amy and Ty made their rounds spending a little more time with them since Amy had been gone. Amy and Ty got ready for bed and fell into each other's arms. They just held each other as words were not needed, actually they never were. Ty pulled Amy into a deep and passionate kiss. She returned his advance with a longing for him. Although it had only been a few days she had really missed him and she was determined to "catch" up. She rolled him over on his back and undressed him quickly. There was urgency in her movement as she whispered, "Oh Ty I have missed you so much." He moaned as she continued to please him in ways only she could do. It was a one-sided love as she dominated him in all the right ways. Eventually after a while he got Amy's clothes off and made sure he gave her everything she needed. She said his name a little louder than usual over and over as he pleasured her most intimate zones. He was masterful with his lips and hands as they brought her to an incredible body trembling climax. They gathered themselves and united in lovemaking moving fluidly in each other's bodies. They "fit" and the thrust and grinds brought them to a shared level of satisfaction. As they laid catching their breath Ty smirked, "Maybe you should leave for a few days again, that was kind of amazing." She breathed into his neck while circling his chest with her fingers. "What you said tonight at dinner was.. I can't even think of a word to describe it. It was so wonderful." She smiled holding back her emotions. "I love you Ty Borden, forever." Ty looked directly into her eyes. "And I love you Amy Borden, forever." The held each other as sleep came dreaming of their life and how perfect it was.
