Chapter Fifty-Nine
Moving On
A/N – Thank you for letting me tell this storyline about Amy. More to come once her results are in. It is an extremely busy time for the Borden's. The family is prepping for school and they are all really excited. And of course there were the results of Amy's treatment. Moving forward the early fall will be filled with celebrations, business needs and as always the occasional twist. With the Borden's and the rest of the family you never know what will happen. A follow up to several reviews questioning the Trudeau storyline. As I have said, I am not political and have taken a name familiar to me and my limited knowledge of Canadians politics. Just to let you know, my intention is focused on the kids and especially the wife/mother of the PM. Amy had never had many close friends in the show and I thought that the Maryanne character could fill that void. With school starting the storyline will mellow a bit but Amy and Maryanne will continue to become close friends. Now I will admit I do have opinions on a lot of things in this world but ones that I avoid are political in nature. I was taught by my grandfather years ago that there is always two sides to any story or conflict. Bottom line, I really love the reviews, keep them coming. Finally I have an option to delete reviews but outside of ones that I see to be profane or bullyish. So I plan and hope not to. Peace!
As Amy and Ty walked out of the clinic after what was hoped to be her final mammogram and blood test they held hands and chatted quietly. Later that afternoon, they would meet with the doctor to discuss the results. It would be a long and tenuous wait. After last week's final treatment and test, the doctor was optimistic and had seen some improvements. Amy laughed, "So I guess if I get sicker that is good?" After the last treatment she was very tired, nauseous and just didn't feel good. She laid in bed for a day and except for the night one of the girls was always laying with her. Even JT would join them a few times. Physically she felt a little tired but continued to work. Ty, her kids and the horses gave her strength so she never shied away from it. And school shopping with the kids definitely lifted her spirits. They stayed in town and had a nice picnic lunch and a little make out session in the park. The family knew they needed the time alone and although it was difficult let them be. Jack and Lisa were having lunch with Lou. Today they were watching Georgie's twins and they were keeping them busy. After lunch they settled down for a nap as the three of them went to sit on the porch. Lisa looked at her husband, "Jack I know you are worried but so far things have gone well. Honey, she will be fine, I just know it." Lou smiled, "Grandpa, Amy is strong and from what she has told me the doctor has seen some progress. I know it is hard but I have a good feeling." Jack smiled at two of the many important women in his life. "I know, it's just that this brings back some memories that I try not to relive. I know that Lyndy and Marion are watching over Amy and that helps me deal with it. Amy is, well she is my granddaughter and I can't lose her too, not before me." First on of very few times Jack teared up as Lou and Lisa held him. He knew it would be Ok but he still worried.
The girls did everything they could to keep themselves occupied. JT was with the Stillman boys having fun, knowing what was going on but content that the news would be good, his grandma told him so. The girls were back at the house having lunch with Wyatt, Rusty, Clay and Katie. Lou had lunch sent over from Maggie's. They talked quietly and barely ate anything. They were anxious to hear from their parents. Georgie and Steven were working together today not just out of necessity but to be there for each other. Steven leaned into his beautiful wife, "Gi, I know you are worried but I am confident everything will be fine. I just know it. Amy is one of the strongest women I know, just like you." She hugged her husband tightly needing his strength. Tim and Casey were at Big River unable to do anything but wait for the news. Casey was optimistic and as Tim wept quietly as she held him, "Tim everything will be fine." Max and Lilly were at their cottage getting ready to have lunch with a local lawyer friend of his. They were thinking of Amy and Ty and their grandkids awaiting the news. Caleb was at the Hudson Vet Clinic with Scott, Cass and Ellie. He needed to be with his wife and his son. The four of them had lunch brought in and they talked to each other for support. Will was busy at work and Bethany was getting ready for the start of school. He called her everyone hour to check in. They loved Amy and were positive she would be fine but still needed to stay in touch. Little Billy had gone to the Stillman's with the other boys. Jenn and Bethany thought it would be the best for JT to be around friends. Even his friend Brent was there so Jenn had her hands full with the five boys. But they were very well behaved. And finally the Trudeau family were on full standby. The kids were getting ready for school as well which kept Maryanne busy. Justin was out of the country but was calling his wife every few hours. She had talked to Amy right after the clinic visit and was looking forward to hearing back from her. Amy quietly told her, "Maryanne you have been a great friend and once we hear I will call. Crazy Ty already has a phone tree set up. He is kind of weird," as they both giggled. In general the entire operation was in a kind of funk. Amy Borden was the living symbol of what the company represented. Everyone that loved Amy was awaiting the news.
Lyndy and Wyatt had been asked by Georgie to work on a horse together. After lunch they rode over to Heartland as Georgie introduced them to the owners and their horse, Hope. Lyndy smiled thinking the name was well suited for their current situation. Wyatt caught her look and grabbed he hand when he heard it. The one owner looked at the two concerned that they were so young. "Mrs. Weber, please don't take this the wrong way but they seem really young, are you sure they can help our horse." Georgie smiled putting her arms around each of their shoulders. "Well I am fully confident with both of their abilities. If you didn't know this is the Miracle Girl, Amy Borden's first daughter and Wyatt is her boyfriend and also a talented horse trainer. Both are accomplished riders fact Lyndy is the best jumpers in her age bracket in Alberta, in fact all of Canada. I think one day she may show me up in the Olympics. And I am their mentor so for most of the work I will be observing. Amy, my sister and I spend time with all of our up-and-coming horse healers. And most importantly Lyndy's blood line is pretty formidable. Her Grandma was Marion Fleming and Great Grandma was Lyndy Bartlett, who were both innovative leaders in our industry." The owners were duly impressed and looked forward to having them working with Hope. After meeting with them with Georgie listening in, Lyndy and Wyatt took the horse in the round pen. Their plan was to have Lyndy be the lead and Wyatt provide support. The horse had a little bit of an erratic streak so he was there for another set of eyes as well. She begin moving the horse around the round pen. The issue was that the horse had soured with children and the owners had 5 kids under 10. As she worked the horse, Georgie talked softly to the owners, "Lyndy and Wyatt will get the horse to settle and gain his trust. Once we get to that point, we happen to have a whole bunch of kids and we will begin reacclimating him to them. In fact Lyndy's little brother JT has a bunch of buddies under five and we have used them before."
Watching her with the owners, Georgie continued, "Look how the horse is responding. Join ups can take up to an hour and it looks as though she is close. Also look how Wyatt is positioning himself. The horse knows he is there as well and although not typical the hope is that he accepts both of them. After about ten more minutes Lyndy slowed the horse down. She grabbed Wyatt's hand, turned their backs to the horse and walked away. The owners looked confused and were ready to speak when Georgie grabbed their arm motioning for them to keep watching. Their mouths opened as Hope began licking his lips, moving his head up and down while moving his ears forward. He walked over to them and nuzzled their shoulders touching them both. Lyndy and Wyatt reached over to rub his nose thanking him for trusting them. They walked him over to the fence and the owners petted him as well. Lyndy proudly spoke, "Well now he trust us so the real work starts." The owners were speechless as they had never seen anything like this. The husband asked, "Can we meet the Miracle Girl. Our oldest daughter is a big fan and basically ordered us to do it. We have watched her videos but I have to say seeing it live is much different." Lyndy put her head down so Georgie stepped in. "My Aunt and her husband, Dr. Ty Borden are out for the day. To be upfront, they are waiting for some test results." She gathered herself, "She was diagnosed with a low-level malignant tumor on her breast and although we are all optimistic, it is still on our minds. We will make sure that you do meet her though, she is always available to meet our clients." The women looked at both of them with understanding, "Well that even impresses me more, that you can do this with so much on your mind. You should be proud of it." Lyndy smiled as she continued, "And I am a breast cancer survivor and I can tell you the support I received was very important to me. I am cancer free and I am confident your mom will be fine, actually I know it. Love cures all and I can see there is plenty of that here." As they hugged Georgie's phone went off and it was her mom. She looked at Lyndy, "Amy just called my mom, they have been called to come see the doctor, we will know something soon." Lydy collapsed in Wyatt's arms as Georgie rubbed her back.
The word spread quickly to everyone and the anxiety level increased. The support of those around each of them helped everyone deal as they all waited for the news. Meanwhile Amy and Ty packed up their lunch, hugged and kissed one more time for a bit longer than expected. Ty whispered in her ear, "We better go Ames, I for one am looking forward to the good news." She hugged him one last time, "Ty I love you forever." He smiled as they headed to the SUV and then to the doctor's office. When they arrived the nurse greeted them and took them straight in. The doctor stood up smiling as she greeted them. Ty noticed a number of items in front of her, mammogram pictures and various other charts and graphs. He tried to glance at them and the doctor smiled, "Dr. Borden don't spoil my party." Amy and Ty laughed easing some of the tension. She began pulling he large computer monitor in from of them. Amy grabbed Ty's hands tightly. "Ok so let's get to the mammograms. Here is the first one we took a while back. As you remember the mass is visible here. Now here are the 4 others in order. As she showed each one she pointed out the marked improvement week to week." She kept the last one up and smiled broadly, "Amy and Ty this last picture show a significant reduction in the mass. There are still some residual shadows that if needed can be removed with non-evasive surgery. This is very good." Amy and Ty's eyes welled up and they leaned into each other both happy and relieved. But they knew there were two parts of this story, Ty tentatively asked, "What about th blood work?" She smiled again as their tense shoulders released, "Well as with the mammogram progression, it seems that the cancerous cells have all but dissipated. I believe that removing the remaining shadows will take care of that. After the surgery we will wait a week and do both test, hopefully for the last time."
Amy couldn't contain herself as she broke into tears of relief and Ty joined her. It was like the weight of the world was off their shoulders. As they contained themselves they scheduled the surgery as well as the follow up tests and thanked the doctor over an over. The said their farewells to the staff and walked out as Amy whispered to her husband, Ty I want to provide lunch for the entire office, it's the least we can do." He smiled, "You are something you know it." They kissed passionately gaining the attention of many onlookers. An older couple looked on smiling holding each other's hand. The older gentleman yelled over speaking to Ty, "Good job there young man, she's a keeper." They smiled embarrassed as all of those around them clapped. He looked at the couple grabbing Amy's hand, "Yes she is, she is my everything." They went to the truck and sat in there making their calls. As the word spread it seemed as though everyone could feel the pressure lifting. Amy called Maryanne and they both cried in relief. They talked quietly for almost 15 minutes as Ty was next to her on the phone. He made his calls that began the communication tree and then after Amy finished got on the phone to video the girls separately. They took the time to go over the details as the silently listened, happy tears abounding. They did the same for JT. He confidently said, "See mom Grandma said you would be fine and as always she was right." As they had decided it would just be dinner just with the kids. Even though Wyatt was considered family, he decided to hang with Rusty for dinner to give them all some time alone. And although Amy complained, the entire family would have a BBQ on the weekend to celebrate the news.
It was mutually decided to have a pizza and salad night and Lyndy not happy about it, made everyone promise to save some for Wyatt since he wouldn't be there. The kids were on the porch when Ty and Amy got home. As they pulled up the girls ran up to their mom, hugging her tightly. JT walked up with a little more confidence and jumped in his dad's arms. "See daddy I told you guys." They all went in holding hands, laughing and having a great time. Ty ordered the food as the kids got cleaned up for dinner. As Amy and Ty headed up, Maddie whispered to her mom, "You guys take your time we will get JT and the food when it comes. I wont tip him too much." Amy and Ty went into their room and she locked the door. She walked over to her husband and embraced him lovingly reaching up to kiss him on the lips. "Ty, I am so happy right now and I want to celebrate with you." He smiled as he looked into her beautiful blue eyes. "Amy, I am so relieved. I feel like thousands of pounds have been lifted off my shoulders. When she showed us the results I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs." He paused, "Amy the thought of losing you is more than I can handle. You are my everything and I want to be with you forever." She jump up on him straddling his waist. She hungered for him and wanted to give him everything. "Ty you are my rock and my soul. We will be together forever and ever. I was so scared but you kept me focused and cared for me. And you have the most beautiful green eyes ever. You're kind of hot." "And you're kind of sexy and hot and beautiful," he cooed. They fell on to their bed rolling around laughing and kissing each other. They felt like kids playing around behind her grandpas back. They were lost in each other as the heavy petting increased. All was going well until their was a knock on the door. It was Maddie, "Mom, Dad the food is here." Amy gathered herself and answered her baby. "Honey we will be down in five minutes." She leaned back over to her love, reaching down to grab his manhood. "Later for sure Dr. Borden."
Dinner was one of the most relaxing they had in months. The kids were on top of the world, excited about school and all the parties coming their way. They asked a lot of questions as Amy and Ty answered them all openly and honestly. Maddie was a little quiet so Amy asked her what was up. Tearing up she spoke, "Mommy we tried to be strong but we were all so scared. We are so happy you are Ok. Can you tell us about the surgery?" She looked over to Ty since she was holding JT as he spoke, "Well on Monday, Mom will go to the clinic for an outpatient surgery. The incision is less than an inch long and mom will not be knocked out. Before you all freak, she will get a local anesthetic and will only have a few stiches that will go away. It will only take about 20 minutes and we will be right home after it." Addie said quietly, "Will there be a scar, they are kind of cool." Amy smiled, "Well probably a little bitty one that will eventually go away, sorry I won't be cool." Annie laughed and spoke, "Dad how are you doing. We know that this has been hard on you too." He smiled with a small tear in his eye, "Well mom and I actually talked about that. I was very nervous and scared. I know you think it is weird sometimes but your mom means the world to me. You guys are my life but your mom is my first and forever love." Before the group could react Lyndy took charge in her usual mature way, "Well mom and dad, your love is an inspiration. I know these goofs act all weird but we all have so many friends whose parents can't stand each other or will be or have gotten divorced. We love you so much and love that you love each other so much." Annie blurted out, "And all of our friends think you both are hot." After dinner the kids got ready for bed as Amy and Ty made the rounds. When Amy and Ty got in bed she leaned over kissing his neck. She swooned, "It's time for later." It was going to be a good night.
The next morning felt like a fresh start. After breakfast everyone went on their separate ways. Amy spent the day receiving happy hugs and kisses from everyone. Lou and Casy came by to see her. When she had to go over to Heartland she was accosted by Grandpa, Lisa, Clay, Katie and the Weber's. They were all on top of the world. Jack had a long private conversation with her and Lou and a tear or two were evident. Max and Lilly dropped by and Lilly went to hug her tightly. "Oh honey are so happy for you, Ty and the kids." The rest of the day was the same everywhere she went. Amy had a couple of horses to work with and it felt good getting back into the swing of things. She was lucky enough to work with TY a couple of times and the hugs were many. She had to head to the Vet clinic where Soctt, Cass and Ellie were happy to see her as well. Since Soctt had known her since she was a baby he hugged her for an especially long time, afraid to let her go. For Scott, emotions were though but he wanted to make sure she knew how happy he was. But when she went back to the Miracle ranch, she saw two of her most special men talking. Caleb was talking to Ty quietly and Ty was putting his hand on his shoulder for support. When they saw Amy Caleb's face contorted into tears. Caleb was a tough cowboy but a softie at heart. As she approached, he went to hug her shaking with emotions. There was not a need to say anything as Amy comforted him. Ty walked over and put his hand on his shoulder, "Caleb you mean a lot to us, you are our best friend. And see Amy is all good" He smiled and hugged them both.
It was the last week before school and Amy and Ty were in full business and school year starting mode. As described, Amy's surgery was simple and she actually went right back to work, even though Maddie protested. Supplies and clothes had been purchased and book bags were packed. The kids were all in prep mode and every night they talked about the upcoming school year. Amy and Ty made a special effort to see each other several times a day so they could sneak some cuddling and a kiss. The cancer scare showed each of them that time is short and they should take advantage of it. Based on their nighttime activities, they were as they had upped their game. She joked one night as the laid next to each other catching their breath. "Dr. Borden, you are on fire." He smiled and said seductively, "Well Mrs. Borden you aren't to bad yourself. That thing you did earlier, wow." She giggled like a young lover, "I did that all for you my love and trust me there is more of that if you want it." They were madly in love and family and friends noticed that even more than usual. Caleb had several snide comments as he caught them several times. They seemed closer than ever always holding hands and rubbing each other's shoulders and backs. And the best part was the Borden girls didn't mind at all. Amy and Ty's relationship was stronger than ever and every day it continued to grow. Ty was talking to Jack one day and the family patriarch noticed a gleam in his eye. He looked over and saw Amy talking with Georgie and some new clients. "Hello earth to Ty," as he patted him on the arm. Ty smiled blushing, "Sorry Jack you were saying'." "Well not that you heard me. So you and Amy seem to be doing very well," he smirked. "Thank goodness I allowed you to get within 10 feet of her years ago." Ty smiled giving Jack his full attention as he continued. "Ty the love you two have reminds me of Lyndy and me. I love Lisa but that first love is special. Don't ever forget that. Remember when I sat with you after the fishing cabin visit and told you no kissing and running this time." Ty laughed, "Jack I told you nothing happened except that we both proclaimed our love for each other." As he looked over at his love he continued, "And Jack that love is forever." They smiled at each other not needing to say anything else.
At dinner a few nights before the start of school several conversation were underway. As promised, Lyndy's phone package was increased to the full range with very strict instructions from her mom and dad. Wyatt and her were so excited about high school and she was very happy she decided to forgo dance schools. She still loved to dance and planned to continue to compete and maybe consider something when she goes to college. Right now she wanted a normal educational experience and continue to schedule multiple likes at once. And she wanted to be with Wyatt most of all. They continued to become closer and closer and she liked it. Her mom and her talked a lot about it and she also talked to Katie. She loved him and she knew he loved her too. She was excited that his 15th birthday was happening in a few months and was already planning it. Annie and Addie were very excited about Middle School and the overnight party at the dude ranch their parents agreed to. The agreement happened after the got Katie, Clay, Lyndy and Wyatt to chaperone, and that the chaperones would not sleep girlfriend/boyfriend. Since the family decided to do a combo family party for them, Maddie and Georgie's twins they were able to convince them they needed it. Maddie as well got them to agree to a small friend party that would consist of a trail ride and picnic. She was beyond excited about the third grade and that Gwen would be mainstreamed in her class. Amy and Gwen's mom had talked to the teachers and they agreed as well. Everything was set to go, school, parties, chores and a lot of fun. But most importantly they had a mom who was healthy and more in love with their dad as ever. It was going to be a fun fall.
