Chapter Eighty-Two

Time Moves On

A/N – During the writing of this story I have continually developed my writing style. As I have said I have come to find that when I have an idea for a chapter I just kind of see where it goes. I just finished chapter 81 and I have to admit it has been my favorite so far. This idea came from a reader (THANK YOU) and as I wrote it the storyline just came to me. It is long and could have been longer. Wouldn't this be a great episode for the show? Well lets continue. The excitement has calmed a bit and school as well as work continue. The Borden kids have a lot going on and there happens to be this baby thing, wedding prep and so on. The next few chapters will focus on life and it's daily excitement and challenges. The impact of The Discovery grew exponentially after the interview on Good Moring Calgary. For Amy, seeing Maryanne was so exciting for her personally especially when her and Haley decided to stay over the weekend. They caught up and Haley hung with Lyndy, Wyatt and Rusty. Amy and Ty and other members of the family were overwhelmed with the responses they were receiving. They even had someone from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC send a note to offer their advice in restoring and preserving the documents. They even offered to send an expert up to Alberta. Ty laughed when Amy got the email, "I am sure Justin and Maryanne had something to do with this. The rest of the Borden's kids were basking in the sudden limelight since the interview on TV. At dinner one night, Amy and Ty reminded them to be humble and not use this the wrong way. Maddie laughed, "You raised us better than that mom. We understand how important and personal this is to our family. We will be good." Addie, Annie and Lyndy shook their heads in agreement. Ty looked at JT, "And you little man, chill." He looked at his dad and rolled his eyes. The entire family was so excited but still emotional about the find. It meant a lot to them and they cherished the journals. They found themselves carving out time almost every night to look over them. Several times late at night, Ty would reach over for his wife in bed and it would be empty. She would sneak down to look over the journals. One night, he snuck up and grabbed her tightly from behind. He immediately noticed a small tear in her eye, "Amy are you Ok." She smiled and leaned back into his embrace, "I'm sorry I was just reading about a horse that Grandma Lyndy was working on and it sounds just like Spartan. Ty it was so amazing" He smiled and kissed her neck, "Amy I know this is emotional for you but don't forget whatever you need from me you need to let me know. Remember, I would do anything for you."

Amy kissed Ty passionately as he picked her up and caried her to their room. Her emotions were peaked but now were focused on the love of her life. As they laid on the bed she began expressing her emotion more physically touching and fondling his body in ways that showed him. Without much resistance they helped each other out of their pajamas. Ty whispered, "These are my favorite, easy to come off of you." She smiled in his ear, "That's why I wear them a lot." Once they were skin to skin the love intensified. Amy's pent-up emotions exploded as she moved over the body of her lover with ease and skill. Ty responded kissing and touching her in all the right places. Light moans began as they quietly called out each other's names. Amy took the lead and moved over and around his erogenous areas. He leaned his head back as she fondled him stroking him smoothly. He momentarily lost focus and much to her delight allowed her to take him to a rewarding finish. He struggled to regain his composure but when he did he took over and helped her peak as he attacked her most private zone of love. He knew exactly what to do as she curled her toes reaching an unbelievable orgasm. She eventually caught her breath and quietly joked, "You really will do anything for me." They smiled rubbing their noses together. She silently remembered when they did that the magical night he proposed to her at Stumpy's fishing camp. He smiled, "I bet you are tired Ames. I know you are excited about what we found but I also see that the emotions you are experiencing are taking a lot out of you." She smiled coyly, "Well I am kind of tired but not enough to do this." She pulled him over on top of her. "Dr. Borden, got enough energy to do some more of that anything stuff for me?" Their night was not quite over.

The storage room was going to be ready in a week and Jack made sure there were plenty of shelves and a large table with chairs in the middle so they could be looked over while someone was in there. The University came up with a plan to begin digitizing them and committed to do it in the storage room as well. Alex, one of the host from the Good Morning Calgary show came Heartland to shoot a story from the new room as a follow up to the interview they had. Amy and Jack met with her and detailed the room and the plans for the future of all of the journals, including the ones Marion had scribed and one's that Amy was adding. Georgie had also had some to add and Lyndy was going to start her own as well. Alex smiled and the camera was on, "Amy and Jack, This is amazing. You must both be so proud of the past, present and future of your family's legacy. Have you found anything interesting?" Amy smiled, "Just last night, my husband caught me looking over one my Grandma's journals. They are still in our den and I tend to sneak down there sometimes. She had notes about a horse that had been mistreated and then was in accident when being trailered to see her. Alex it was the exact same situation that I had with my horse Spartan, who we lost a while ago. He was my best friend and really the first horse I worked on by myself." She hesitated as Jack put his arm around her for support. "Alex she did exactly what I did and the horse she worked with was healed and was a great horse for the rest of his life. Reading the journal really show me the similarity of what we all do" She sighed as her emotions were high. Jack continued, "Alex we want to share this with anyone who wants to see it. We are not vain enough to think we are the only ones with these skills but are confident the others can benefit." Alex smiled and thanked them for their time. Seeing a need she hugged Amy tightly as tears were in her eyes. Jack smiled as he watched the scene in from of him. He had Lyndy, Marion and his father-in-law on his mind.

Over the next few weeks the routine had settled in. School was going great for the kids as they all really enjoyed it. The girls were committed to helping their mom, Georgie and Katie look over the journals. It had been an overwhelming but rewarding experience for each of them but mostly they were there for their mom. It was an emotional time for her and she needed them. They also continued their vigilant watch over Bethany who continued to progress with her pregnancy. They completely understood she needed them and others to help her with the challenging time. Georgie was getting close and Cass was also doing really well. Although babies were awesome the most exciting thing was Katie and Clay's wedding. Lyndy would be her maid of honor and Wyatt was Clay's best man. Georgie, Amy and one of Katies longtime friends were bridesmaids. Ty, Steven and Caleb were his groomsman. Maddie, Annie and Addie were Jr. Bridesmaids and JT along with the now wobbling Twins would bring the rings down. The three younger girls would help them as well. Katie had decided that even though her father was invited, she wanted Scott to walk her down the aisle. Unfortunately over the years her dad had kind of disengaged with them so for her the decision was easy. In a surprise decision she also asked Ty to walk her down as well. They were always close and wanted him to do it as well. Obsessive Lou along with Lisa were in prep mode even though they still had a few months. The ceremony and reception would all be at the Fairfield indoor arena. Jenn had the suite ready for their wedding night. Since they didn't have a lot of money they would just have a weekend in Banff, that Jack and Lisa were giving them for their honeymoon. They were offered and accepted to live at Heartland. They would move into the attic bedroom which was very large and Jack committed to add a bathroom. So in the Heartland house there would be Jack, Lisa, Lou, Scott and them. Plenty of room for everyone and for the young couple a great option so they could save their money for later.

Lyndy's time at Goddard was going better than expected. The instructors were impressed with her level of skill but mostly with her true love of dance. Lyndy had decided, along with help from Wyatt and her parents to step back from competitive show jumping. Even though she would still compete occasionally she felt she had achieved what she wanted to. She wanted to keep her skills up just relieve herself of the pressure of competition. She made it a point one afternoon to go see Georgie to talk to her about the decision. She approached her and before she could speak Georgie stepped in, "Lyndy I know what you want to tell me. And don't worry your mom didn't say anything. Lyndy, I hated dance class so for me focusing on jumping was an easy decision. But when you dance, it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It is a gift and you need to stay with it." Lyndy went to hug her making sure she didn't squish the baby. "Thank you for being so understanding. I still want to jump just not competitively. I am so relieved that you are Ok with my decision Georgie, I was so nervous." Georgie smiled and hugged her tightly. All of a sudden Lyndy felt the baby kick as they embraced. Georgie laughed, "I think the baby is Ok with it too." After The Discovery Lyndy also decided to increase her work with horses. She didn't totally understand why but she felt driven to refine her skills learning from her mom, Georgie and Katie. Amy and Ty were privately pleased but made sure they allowed her to make the decision. Wyatt was happy and also wanted to improve his ability to work with horses. He still was unsure what he wanted to do but felt a need to continually improve. And the bonus, he got to spend more time with his love. Their relationship continued to develop. Ty and Amy noticed their increased closeness and decided that she would continue to talk to her daughter and Ty with Wyatt. Since she would be 15 very soon and knowing how they felt at that age, they wanted to make sure they were there in case questions about intimacy came up. Although they were in denial all the signs were there so they wanted to be ahead of it.

Annie and Addie were also having a great time at school, work, jumping and with their friends. They were still developing their relationships with Jeremy and Desi and often went to the movies and on a trail rides together. Both of them were still amazingly mature and understood they were young but did feel close to each other and the both of them. Ty was with Amy one day watching as the four of them headed out on horses and Ty joked, "You know what is it with you Borden girls. When you want something you go for it. I still remember how you latched onto me when we were young. You guys just can't help it." She rolled her eyes and poked him in the ribs, "Whatever lover boy, as I recall you were the one coming after me and I rejected you more than once." He frowned looking as though his feeling were hurt." She got nervous and whispered, "I'm just kidding Ty, I fell in love with you when you picked me up walking home from Jesse's party, after you beat him up. And it was the best decision I ever made." They kissed until Maddie yelled at them. Annie was continuing to excel in her science class and the project she was doing at the high school was proving to be a great opportunity for her to shine. She also had joined the choir as it seemed like Lyndy she had picked up singing ability. She had begun listening to Grandma Lyndy's songs and you could hear her in the living room singing quietly to herself. One night Amy heard her daughter singing quietly. She walked in and joined her, Soon Lyndy was there two and the three of them continued to sing together. Annie had a big smile on her face as her dad walked in with moist eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt but I was in the office and heard the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Annie, I have heard you mom and sister sing before but you are amazing and beautiful. Why am I so lucky." Annie stood up and ran to her father, hugging him tightly. "We are the lucky ones daddy."

Addie as well was really enjoying school and tinkering on cars and motorcycles. She still loved jumping too but found her skills in mathematics to be better suited for her love of all things mechanical. Even Ty had to admit that her perceptive knowledge of everything mathematical was impressive. But most of all she loved her family and the family horses. She especially loved her twin. In some cases as they get older Twins tend to move their own way but she felt that her and Annie were closer than ever. Amy and Ty were chatting one day when she mentioned a conversation she had with Addie, "Babe Addie is a little worried that Annie and her may lose their connection as they get older. I told her that the link they have is strong and will always be there. I told her that they may go different ways in life but they will always be linked." Ty laughed, "Amy I am sure they will be like they are even after they are married and have kids of their own. But I can't lie honey, having time with her on the Norton and Old Blue is a lot of fun." Addie did enjoy working on things with her dad. She basically became the self-proclaimed Miss Fixit especially with the motorized toys they had at the ranch. The best part for her was the sense of accomplishment that fixing something brought to her but more importantly learning from her dad who in her eyes was not just the most important man in her life but someone she wanted to emulate. Their relationship was special and the time they spent together was something they both enjoyed. Jack jokingly called her Ty's Minnie Me.

And then there is Maddie. Everyone around her marveled at the maturity, selflessness and understanding this young women possessed. Amy and Ty continually heard from school and members of the staff how she helped them or others around them. At school, the teaching team considered her to be just like a member of the team. Not only was she remarkably intelligent but she had a sense that told her when other kids in her class needed her. It was common for them to find her helping someone without being asked to. Amy and Ty saw it all around the farm as well. The way she spearheaded the helping of Amy, Lilly and now Bethany. Ty used to joke that she is a doer, not a follower. Both of them were so proud of her and never took it for granted. Maryanne once told Amy – she is a grandma in a 9-year-olds body. They couldn't agree more. They made it their mission to make sure she also enjoys the life of a child. One night at dinner she seemed subdued. Lyndy spoke up, "Hey Mads, what is up you seem down." Maddie smiled weakly, "Well I was tested again for my cursive skills and I am at 95% proficiency." The table erupted in congratulations followed by hugs. Amy was in tears and told her, "That's great honey, dad and I, actually all of us are so proud of you. But you don't seem to excited." In typical Maddie fashion she spoke up, "I need to be at 100%, I want to help Gwen, Sylvia and a few other kids. I need to have it down perfectly." Ty smiled understanding her drive and passion, "Maddie, what you have accomplished is amazing and I expect you will be helping them soon." Annie added, "Hey maybe when you can help me when I work on the journals. I need someone who can write clearly when we are copying over some of the faded words." She smiled and accepted the offer. Amy smiled at the love and care her kids had for each other especially the way Annie supported Maddie. She squeezed Ty's hand tightly as she watched her kids interact..

Although younger than his classmates JT loved PreK. Most youngsters are a little afraid of leaving their parents when they first go to a school setting but he loved it. At dinner he always talked amount his activities, teachers and friends. But without a doubt he loved his fishing, with his GG, Grandpa and Grandpa Max when he was in town. Any time he was offered he went with them, even if it was just him alone. Ty remembered when Jack took him fishing after his bike crash. From that point on he found fishing to be relaxing and a good way to ease his mind. Privately he looked forward to fishing with his son as he grew up. JT was also becoming more engaged in the ranch work and business. He was completely responsible for his horse Blue Boy and helped Wyatt with his new horse Star as well. He groomed and kept their stalls clean and with a little help did their feed and kept their water trough fresh and full. He was showing his mom that he was committed to them and she regularly encouraged and thanked him. One particularly busy day, Amy had not been able to take care of Blaze, something she always took did. When JT got home from school he noticed his stall needed to be cleaned and he could use a brushing. Without being told he took care of it and after asking Maddie fed and watered his mom's horse. Before she headed over to the house a very tired Amy went to take care of her horse. She was surprised when she saw a very content horse with a clean stall and coat eating his dinner, drinking fresh water. Relieved she went to the house. Ty was managing dinner so she went to her room to freshen up, change into comfortable clothes and rest for a second. She heard a knock on the door and a forlorn JT walked in. She immediately asked, "Hey buddy why so sad, are you Ok?" He went to sit on her lap and looked into her eyes, "I have to tell you something and I hope you are Ok with it. I saw you were busy for I cleaned Blaze's stall and brushed him. And Maddie helped me with his feed. I know I should have asked first but I thought I could help you. I miss Spartan but I really like Blaze to and I can tell he loves you. You aren't mad are you?" She sat for a moment trying to control her emotions. She never had loved her little boy more than right now. "JT, thank you. I had a really hard day and you helped me. I love you so much for that." He smiled and hugged her tightly. After dinner and JT went to bed, Amy and Ty got the four girls and Wyatt together. "Maddie I heard you helped JT with Blaze today. I have a favor to ask of you all. Can you help him be more engaged with the family horses. He was worried that I would be mad but I want him to enjoy it." They all smiled as Ty interjected, "But that doesn't mean he is now your personal groom, except for Wyatt. I think he is yours already Wyatt." They all laughed and shook their heads in agreement.

Work for Amy and Ty continued to grow, but thankfully at a steadier pace. With Georgie cutting back as well as Lyndy and Katie in school she was really pushed to handle a larger workload. She was using the two young girls along with Rusty, Wyatt an a few other ranch hands to handle easier horses. Georgie was still able to oversee the work so she was there for them. Amy still made it a point to stay engaged with all the horses and with the support of others she was keeping up. Ty noticed that she seemed a little more tired than usual and that she had been restless at night more than usual. Amy suffered from nightmares throughout her life mainly focused on her mom's accident, her temporary blindness, Ty's incidents in his life and most recently her cancer scare. He just noticed that with The Discovery and increased workload, her restlessness was increasing. He had asked but as usual she said she was fine but loved him for caring. One day he was looking for her and eventually found her in one of the client horses stalls sleeping. He gently sat next to her and she fell into his arms. She woke up and seemed a little disoriented. Ty whispered, "Hey there Miracle Girl, did I just catch you napping." She smile and snuggled onto him, "No I just closed my eyes for a minute but I sure like holding you." He spoke up, "Amy you were sound asleep. You need to talk to me. You haven't been sleeping well and look like you are exhausted. I mean you are still really hot and sexy but I know you. What is going on." She hugged him tighter. "Ty there is so much work and." She hesitated, "Well the journals have brought back memories of my mom and when she died. And then I have dreamed about my blindness, your plane crash, bike accident and my breast cancer. When I close my eyes everything is there." He held her and kissed the top of her head. "I love you Amy and we need to talk to someone about this." She tiredly shook her head and got up to get back to the horse who's stall she was in.

The next morning, Ty called Georgie and asked if she could get Katie and Lyndy, when they got home from school, meet with them privately at Heartland. She was concerned but understood his reason. He also called Maryanne and filled her in on what was happening asking if she could be in on the meeting. Ty considered these four women to be closest to his wife. After Lyndy and Katie got home he texted Maryanne and headed to the loft apartment to meet with all of them. As he walked in Lyndy immediately hugged him, "Daddy is mom Ok. We were talking and she has seemed off the last week or so." He smiled, "Well that is what I want to talk to you about." He put his phone on speaker, "In fact, Maryanne is on the phone also. Hello Maryanne, I am here with Georgie, Katie and Lyndy." She said hello to everyone and Ty began to detail the discussion he had with his wife, the history of her dreams and the reasons they were stimulated and finally the discussion he had with her. Maryanne spoke up first. "Ty I hope this is not imposing but I have a dear friend from school that deals with things like this and she practices in Calgary. I am sure she will be able to help you if you want her to." Georgie spoke up, "Ty I also talked to her about it. Lyndy, Katie and I have noticed it as well so you know me, I approached her. She admitted it to me as well but you know Amy, she is bullheaded like Jack and just keeps pushing herself. I think that is one of the bad traits she got from Tim." They chuckled and took a breath. He concluded, Ok, Maryanne can you get with your friend and maybe the five of us can convince her to see her. It can't hurt. I know the rest of you are busy but between us here and you Maryanne over the phone let's keep an eye out without her knowing. Might be easier said than done but I know her, she wants help just doesn't want to admit it." Maryanne immediately responded, "Ty no phone for me, Justin has a three-day conference in Calgary and I can have the kids handled. I am coming to be with her. Let's talk to her in the morning as I arrive the day after next." He smiled, "Maryanne that would be great and all of you thanks. Amy is my life and I know she is important to all of us. We need to help her."

The next morning after some resistance, Amy agreed to seeing the doctor. She was happy Maryanne was coming but told her over and over she didn't have to. Maryanne smile dover the phone, "This coming from the lady who flew to me when Bart was having his surgery. You were right there with me, the whole time." Amy laughed, "Okay, okay you guys win." When they hung up Amy looked at her husband and kissed him deeply simply saying, "Thank You." The rest of the day was very busy for both of them. Ty, Steven and Cass had several major surgeries scheduled for the day. Scott was actually coming over for one as Ellie and a couple of the student manned the clinic.. They had been prepping for them for over a week. Scott would be working with Steven on two surgeries. One was on a 5-year-old ranch horse. He was having some intestinal issues so they were going to do a laparoscopy and insert a camera to look things over. The other was with a 6-year-old brood mare who collicked. The surgery was rather simple but with colic there could always be complications. Ty and Cass had a relatively simple sinus cavity procedure for a 14-year-old trail horse that was totally loved by his owners and was having trouble breathing. The second was much more challenging. The had a young foal who had a leg fracture at birth that was not healing correctly. The plan was to go in, set the bone and correct any alterations with the fracture. It was something they both had expertise in but was extremely very difficult. The schedule was set and the horses were prepped by some of the college students and ranch hands. Amy was engaged with the foal's owner who was a friend of the family and she wanted to be there for them. By the end of the day, all the surgeries were completed. The one Ty and Cass did on the foal was the most challenging and when Scott and Steven finished a little early they came to check it out. It was something out of the ordinary and they wanted to see the final outcome. Amy sat with the owners and they were overwhelmed with the team and most importantly the outcome. The team met with them to go over the surgery and detailed the post-surgery plan. As Amy and Ty sat in the office at the end of the day they both wrapped up and headed to the house. She leaned into him, "Quite a day you think?" He laughed, "No problem for the Miracle Girl and the world's greatest vet." They were quiet and before they got into the house she pulled him onto the porch chairs. "Ty, Thank you for setting up the appointment with Maryanne's friend. "I love you so much. I can't wait until Maryanne shows up tomorrow. Will you come with me to the appointment too?" He smiled and kissed her cheek, "Absolutely, I will always be there for you." She kissed him passionately until a call came from inside the house. "Hello Dinner."
