Chapter Eighty-Six

Pharaoh

A/N – Originally I planned to cover both Ty and Amy's challenges in one chapter but I decided to commit an entire chapter to Amy's client horse Pharaoh since now Ty would be involved as well. JT's premonishing came to me while I was writing so I want to get into that a little more. Let's hope all goes well but to be honest I am considering several options. I also want to spend more time with Lyndy's skill development as it plays into future storylines as well as the separate story I am starting to focus on about Lyndy and her legacy. Watch for involvement from Wyatt and the girls as well as others. Once we move through this storyline, things will get hectic. Babies, birthdays, jumping, celebrations and just the excitement of everyday life will take us into the summer. PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO REVIEW MY WORK. I GET GREAT IDEAS FROM YOU ALL SO KEEP THEM COMING. A Little More Aggressive Mature Content (It is Amy and Ty) Enjoy!

Amy woke up in the arms of her husband. She stretched as last night was a late one. It had been a few days since her and Lyndy had been working with Pharaoh. Ty and Scott also were preparing for his upcoming surgery. Their research took them to a specialist in the field of the three senses of a horse from Colorado State University. After she reviewed the case she agreed with their diagnosis and surgical procedure. She even offered to come up to assist but they told her that Zooming in would be perfect. As Amy looked into those beautiful green eyes she felt on top of the world. She loved him more than anything and was excited to work together on Pharaoh. She leaned over and kissed him passionately as he smiled coming out of his slumber. "Hey there horsey girl, last night wasn't enough?" She whispered, "It's never enough I will always need your love. You are a keeper Dr. Borden and I love you forever." They embraced and kissed again as she sadly said, "But I hear the kids rustling, we need to head downstairs." The dressed and went downstairs to an excited group of kids. School was close to being done for the summer and there was a lot going on. Amy and Ty got a lot of hugs and kisses and not a word about sleeping in. Amy laughed, "Well you all seem to be in a good mood today." Maddie spoke up, "Well we have our end of school party today and I am pumped." Annie and Addie had activities as well and they included Jeremy and Desi which made it even better. Lyndy and Wyatt were a little more in control but Lyndy was looking forward to her session this afternoon with her mom and Pharaoh. Wyatt asked, "What time is the surgery tomorrow doc?" Ty smiled and told him at 3:00 so if he could get there he is more than welcome to observe. "This is going to be a pretty cool one." They all smiled and went on their way.

As the kids cleared out Amy looked at Ty sheepishly. "Well I have an hour before my morning sessions start and if I am not mistaken we have no new horses and you only have a call to check in with the Medicine Hat team so…" Ty locked the front door, quickly picked up his wife and carried her to their room while locking the door on the way. Their passion was intense as they kissed each other in all the right places. Ty took the first step and moved his lips and hands all over his naked wife's body. After a passionate kiss on the lips he moved to her perfect breast, paying attention to each of them. Amy was moaning ins delight as her kissed and licked her erect nipples with love and passion. He moved down her stomach and paid attention to the place where their most intimate passion happened. Using his hands and his mouth he pleasured her as she reached several orgasmic climaxes. Since no one was home she held nothing back as she lustfully screamed out his name repeatedly. They had made love thousands of time but it seemed to Ty she was really pleased with his work. As they took a breath she made her move. Now it was time for Ty to feel the love of his wife. She was on a mission to please him and do so over and over. As she nibbled on his ear and neck she grabbed his manhood stroking it up and down. Ty moaned over and over as she brought him to a peak of passion. She continued with her mouth to bring him to another high. Now it was his time to say her name over and over. After the calmed they joined in slow and passionate love making. The fit together and their climaxes were in sequence as they reached the height of their love. After they showered they headed to start their work giggling like kids. Everyone noticed their mood and as always were overwhelmed by the love they had for each other.

Amy's session with Pharaoh went just like the other she did the day before. Georgie watched from the comfort of a chair and a few other ranch hands were there as well. Dusty stood with her in the round pen as everyone was aware of the possible danger and JT's dream. Amy and Georgie decided to cut the session short and cancelled the afternoon one. They were not going any further and wanted the horse to rest. Stu dropped by with the rider and Pharaoh seemed to react positively to her. Ty noted that and asked if they could both be back after the surgery was finished as he came out of the effects of the anesthetic. Everyone agreed and the surgery was set. Unfortunately, they moved it to 9:00am so Wyatt would not be able to observe. But, like the surgery in Medicine Hat it would be videoed. Ty also had two other surgeries now in the afternoon and Scott was busy as well. Amy was good with it as there was a possibility she could work with him early the next morning. With the afternoon free Amy got caught up on a lot of work with some other client horses and Ty actually snuck a surgery in. It was right before the kids got home and Amy had a great idea. "Ty it's pretty warm today so let's go on a family trail ride. I can put some dinner together and we can load up and head out, just the family all eight of us." Ty laughed, "Eight, it seems that Wyatt is our sixth child now. And it really feels good Ames." They kissed deeply and both starting getting stuff ready. When the bus dropped the last group of kids off they saw Amy, Ty, Lyndy and Wyatt with all the horses tacked up and saddle bags full. Maddie screamed, "Yes, family trail ride!" They ran in got changed and headed out. Every one of them had a big smile on their face as they headed to the river to set up their dinner. They laughed as everyone talked about their day. Amy say in front of Ty and he whispered. "This is awesome, I love all of you so much." He kissed her as JT watched them and said, "Is this your raincheck time?" Everyone burst out in laughter. It was the perfect family evening.

Ty, Cass and Steven were preparing for the surgery. Ty and Cass would be the leads and Steven was there in case Cass needed him to step in. The doctor from Colorado was on the iPad watching from her office. Amy held it for them and would move it around as needed. Scott was planning to be there as well but Ellie and him had an emergency in Okotoks they had to get to. Pharaoh was prepped by Mandy and the surgery was set to begin. The first thing they did was work on his ears as it seemed they had been cut in the accident and some scar tissue developed and was obstructing his ability to hear clearly. Cass expertly removed the scar tissue and the cleaned out both ears. Everyone looked over the work and it seemed to look good. The doctor from Colorado complemented her approach. "Dr. O'Dell I have to say your technique is one I have never seen before, I would love to have you talk with my team later and describe it in more detail." Cass laughed as Amy moved the iPad down a bit to her stomach. The doctor from Colorado looked at her very pregnant young lady, "Well maybe after you have your baby." Everyone laughed and after a short break the took on the more difficult eye surgery. Before they began Ty checked Pharaoh's vitals and all seemed well. His heart rate was a little high but with an athletic horse like him that was normal. They quickly reviewed the plan and Ty began. They were going to use lasers and put on his hi resolution goggles, kind of like magnifying glasses. Amy chuckled, "You kind of look like a sexy alien." Cass rolled her eyes, "really you guys are too much." Everyone laughed as some of the tension was relieved.

The surgery began as Ty surveyed the areas around each eye. The team saw what he saw on a monitor and a live feed was sent to the team in Colorado. The looked it over together and determined that there was trauma to both eyes due to the jolt of the accident The left eyelid was swollen and it seemed infected. And the right one seemed a little worse. Ty spoke up, "Even minor trauma can lead to infection and vision impairment. It seems this has been festering and Pharaoh is most likely seeing things in a cloudy state, if at all." One of the team from Colorado spoke up, "Br. Borden I think an antibiotic will clear that up don't you agree." He agreed but noticed something else. "Look here Mandy, it seems the retina in the left eye is offline to the right one. Typically they right themselves but I think the infection has impacted that." He paused, "And I am sure the initial vet team missed this since it is hidden a bit as these magnifiers help us see in more detail." Anyone have any thoughts. Steven spoke up, "Ty we dealt with this when I was in school with a dog. His infection was severe and the professor actually removed some of the infected tissue and after antibiotic it cleared up quickly." The team agreed so Ty very delicately used the laser to remove some of the tissue without impacting the eye. When he was done they all reviewed each eye together. Mandy spoke up, "You can already see that this is going to help. Both eyes seem more stable and it even seems like the retinal displacement is better." Everyone agreed and Ty stabilized they are and place antibiotic drops in each eye. "I think with regular applications of the eye drops and a day or two in a darkened stable his eyes should be good as new." Ty stated. Cass spoke up as well, "With his ears a couple of days keeping them covered and treating with an antibiotic cream should do the trick." Everyone agreed, they stabilized Pharoh and decided to follow up later in the day.

The group had some lunch and decompressed from a very challenging set of surgeries. They had a Zoom call with Stu Forrest and his team around 1pm. They were surprised when Stuart Sr. was on from England as well but Brianna was back as school so they would fill her in. Ty and Cass went over the two procedures in detail and both were confident of a complete recovery with both his sight and hearing. They shared snippets of the surgery as well and both the Forrest men were impressed. Pharaoh's rider asked how soon before they can start training. Amy jumped in, "I will be able to give you an idea after we work with him a few times. I did some research and we need to be very careful when we start up. He has had these limitations for a while and it may startle him when he can see and hear well again. A few years back I was kicked in the back of the head by a horse and lost my sight for a few days. When it came back I needed time to readjust to light and movement. I expect the same with him. You are more than welcome to observe our first few sessions if you would like." The rider agreed and planned on being there. Ty interjected, 'We are going to check on him later this afternoon and then in the morning. We expect him to physically recover quickly but as Amy said we will not know the emotional piece until she and Lyndy spend time with him." Stu questioned, Amy are you Ok with your daughter in the round pen with you?" She smiled, "Lyndy has been with me from the beginning and is a skilled horse woman, so I am sure Pharaoh is comfortable too." The senior Forrest laughed, "Amy do we have another Miracle Girl on our hands." Amy smiled blushing a little, "Well she is still young but Georgie and I have already seen that she has some undeveloped skills but she has some mighty impressive namesakes to follow, Lyndy was my Grandma and Marion, her second name, was my mom." Ty stepped in and put his arm around his wife, "And those two women were exceptional like this on next to me." They went over some timelines and closed out the meeting. The team was happy and went about the rest of their day.

Pharaoh's recovery went very well as the team continued to monitor him closely. Scott, Cass and Ty looked him over and it seemed he was almost 100% physically recovered so after a few days Amy and Ty brought him out to the round pen for the first time. The intent was not to work him just get him out of the protection of his stable. They had purposely kept any extra noise of light away from him so he wouldn't be startled. As Rusty walked him out Ty, Amy, Cass and Georgie all noticed his hesitancy. More than likely his senses were touchy since he had been unable to hear or see at 100%. Amy quietly told him, "Be very careful Rusty, keep yourself away from his back end. We don't want you to be kicked." Ty agreed and mentioned to everyone, "He has been jumpy already and a high-strung horse, we need to be patient." Rusty just let him go and walked over to the others on the outside of the fence. Again, although free to roam he tended to stay in one place only moving around a lot, kind of like feeling his way around. Georgie spoke, "Look at how his ears are flat and back on his head. He is definitely scared and confused. I agree with everyone, this horse needs some alone time for sure." Over the next couple of days they brought him out several times and each time he seemed to get a little more adventurous. After the kids got home they went over to see him in the pen and he was actually trotting around a bit. Lyndy called to him and he stopped looking to where the familiar voice came from. He walked over and stuck his head through the fence. Lyndy lightly brushed his nose and gave him a treat. Amy walked over with a cautious look, "Honey be careful, he is still getting used to hearing and seeing again. But I have to say he has bonded with you, which is good." Lyndy smiled and leaned into her mother.

Next morning at Saturday breakfast, they discussed starting to work with him. Since Amy and Ty were so busy the kids knew that all had to pitch in and were more than happy to help. Amy spoke to all of them, "Now your dad, Lyndy and I are going to try to lunge Pharaoh today so you can watch but stay out of the pen. He is doing well but still needs to be treated with patience." JT looked at all of them, "Please be careful." Ty added, "JT and mom are right he is still adjusting and needs time." They all cleaned up and the kids tended to the family horses. Amy and Ty went to the office and planned out their day. Even though they were busy they wanted to finish midafternoon to they could have some family time with a nice dinner and game night with the kids. In a hour Wyatt and Lyndy would bring Pharaoh to the round pen and Amy would try to get him moving with Lyndy by her side. All was set as they entered the round pen as a small crowd had formed. Georgie was in her comfy chair and the rest lined the fence post. Amy looked up and told everyone to be extremely quiet. With Lyndy right beside her she began getting him to move. He hesitated a little but began cantering around the pen. Her goal today was to get him to move for a half hour as well as getting him to change directions a few time. Nothing to stressful, just getting him use to the movement. Little by little he began to move and became more relaxed as the time went on. Lyndy was speaking softly to him as it seemed her voice was comforting. Amy was very excited that they had formed a bond and even more that Lyndy was showing signs of the skill needed to continue the family legacy. As they neared the finish of the time Pharaoh suddenly stopped in his tracks. He glanced over at Amy and Lyndy with a pained look in his eyes. They both saw it. Suddenly he whinnied loudly and began shaking. Amy immediately stood between the horse and her daughter as Ty and Wyatt came over the fence to help. Georgie kept the rest of the onlookers back and quiet as Ty approached the horse and Wyatt the two Borden women, who had stepped back. Pharaoh knew Ty was the one who helped him and looked over. Then it happened.

Ty protested as they pulled up to the hospital. Amy had called ahead to let them know what had happened and they were ready for him. Caleb drove as Lyndy and Amy sat with him in the back seat. Wyatt sat in front and noticed the medical staff waiting for them. Ty was in a great amount of pain but assured them nothing was broken and that he just got the wind knocked out of him. Back at the ranch Steven, Georgie and Cass tried to calm the other kids, especially JT who was crying uncontrollably. Rusty and some other hands got Pharaoh back into his stable. Georgie got the kids to listen to her, "Guys your dad will be fine and you have to realize this was not Pharaoh's fault, your dad and mom would be the first to say this." Cass and Steven held onto the three younger girls as Georgie brought JT into her lap. He cried, "I knew something would happen, Grandma warned me. This all my fault." Seeing his despair his three sisters went to hold him. Annie spoke to him softly, "JT this is no one's fault, these things happen. Dad is going to be sore but will be fine. And Pharaoh will be fine too." Maddie tearfully looked at Steven, "When can we see our dad and mom. Did you see, mom was so upset, I have never seen her so scared and worried." Cass consoled them and spoke up. "Let's wait to hear from them, he may just be able to come home right away. And guys, your mom loves you dad very much. It's normal she would be upset but again I am sure she will be fine too." The three adults silently decided to take the kids back to the house to be more comfortable. Lyndy had been texting Georgie with updates and when she felt the news was worth sharing she would tell the kids. Lou, Lisa and Jack had arrived as well for support of the kids along with Katie and Clay. When Jack walked in JT ran to him saying how sorry he was. Jack picked him up and walked out to the pond with him. He glanced at the rest of them with an assuring look that he had this.

As Ty got settled in the ER room, with some shaky assistance from Amy he told the doctor what had happened. He detailed the entire story of Pharaoh and how today was the first time Amy was working with him. "For some reason he stopped and looked over to my wife and daughter." Amy interjected, "We could both tell something was wrong. There was pain in his eyes and his body shook slightly." Ty continued, "So they stepped back and I approached him from the front. Everyone knew to stay away from his hind end so they wouldn't be kicked. He knew me and seemed to calm as I approached him. All of a sudden his eyes went wide open and before I knew it I was on my back against the fence in a lot of pain here." He pointed to his upper body more toward the right side. Lyndy spoke up, "Pharaoh suddenly reared up and kicked out totally unexpected. Before my dad could react his left hoof struck him right below his shoulder. The power from the kick sent him reeling back into Wyatt and then the fence. I think if Wyatt hadn't softened the blow he would have hit his head really bad." Lyndy tried to compose herself as Wyatt put his arm around her. Ty settled his daughter. "I don't think there is anything broke but the area is really tightening up." The doctor wrote some notes in the system and ordered x-rays of his upper body and a MRI to look over his head. The doctor noticed Wyatt wincing a bit when he put his arm on Lyndy and said, "And you young man we are going to check you over as well, especially that shoulder of yours." Lyndy looked at him with deep concern, "Wyatt are you OK, why didn't you say you were hurt." He assured them he was Ok but his shoulder was starting to ache more as the time passed. The doctor also ordered some pain meds for the both of them and had Wyatt checked in as well. He didn't say it but he felt that his shoulder may be slightly dislocated. The guys went off to have their x-rays as Amy and Lyndy went out to the waiting room. Caleb was waiting patiently and immediately stood up, "How is he Amy?" Well he is in a lot of pain so they are going to do some x-rays and an MRI." Caleb added, "Lyndy, where is Wyatt." She put her head down, "Well he is hurt too so they admitted him and are taking x-rays as well." Amy hugged Caleb, "Go on home Caleb, we will be here for a while and when we are ready to go we will call. I am sure they have their hands full with the kids, especially JT. We are going to call them in a few minutes.

After Caleb headed out, they got something to drink and went to call the kids. Lyndy texted Georgie to let her know that Amy was calling. A few minutes later they found a quiet corner and made the call. It barely rang once as Georgie picked it up immediately putting it on speaker. Before Amy could say anything the girls started asking questions overwhelming her. She heard the concern in their voices and after 30 seconds got their attention. Clay had went to get Jack and JT and they walked in as JT heard his mom. He was about to speak when his three sisters grabbed him to be close. Amy started, "Kids, dad is Ok. He is awake and talking but they are going to check him over. It looks like he was kicked in the right shoulder area and also may have banged his head a bit. But I promise you he is talking, complaining a bit and joking around. He may have to spend the night but we don't know yet. And we have to tell you something else. When dad flew into Wyatt, his shoulder was hurt as well but not as badly." She hesitated to gather herself. "If Wyatt wouldn't had been there to soften the blow dad may have hurt his head more but thankfully he didn't." The call went silent as Jack and a just returning Caleb chimed in. Jack started, "Kids, I have seen this and have been kicked myself by horses. And you know what happened to your mom. Your dad and Wyatt will be sore but they will be fine." Caleb laughed, "Well I have been kicked a few times as well and it hurts, in fact it hurts more a couple of days later. You all just need to be there to help him and he will be back to normal shortly." Maddie looked at Caleb and Jack, and spoke to the group, "When daddy and Wyatt are better they will just have to get back on the horse." Amy laughed, "Ok Grandpa Tim." Everyone laughed and the ended the call promising to update them in an hour.

The guys made it back to the ER Room and Lyndy was relieved when it was determined that Wyatt only had a deep bruise. She clung to him and the medical team couldn't help but smile at the connection of the young couple. The nurse whispered to Amy, "They are so close it is really cute, how old are they?" Amy smiled, "Wyatt is 15 and my daughter will be 15 in less than a month." The nurse was amazed at their maturity and smiled again at Amy. Ty was a little worse off. He had a very deep contusion and a slight fracture in his clavicle as well as a significant bump on the back of his head. Amy noticed he was really uncomfortable and went to sit next to him as the doctor came in to talk to them. "Ok, Wyatt is fine but you do need to take it easy for a day or two. You can leave but Ty I want to keep you overnight to keep an eye on you. You have a very mild concussion and I can only imagine what would have happened if Wyatt had not softened the blow." Before Ty could protest, Amy interrupted. "Ok, thanks doctor, I can stay with him right?" He laughed, of course, we will move him to a room shortly with a big enough bed for the two of you. I expect you would lay with him no matter what." Amy blushed as Wyatt and Lyndy giggled. Lyndy laughed, "I guess you figured out these two kind of like each other." The doctor left and they moved Ty to a room. Lyndy called Katie and her and Clay to come and get the two of them. She also brought some things for Amy and Ty for the night. When they headed out Amy and Ty called the kids again. As soon as Georgie's phone rang, Maddie picked it up, "Daddy is that you are you on the phone?" He laughed hiding his pain. 'Yes sweetie it is me and hello Annie, Addie and TJ. I am fine but kind of sore. I hit my head so they want we to stay overnight but I am sure I will be home tomorrow." Amy continued, "I am staying with dad so Katie and Clay will be staying with you and will get you off to school and before you say anything you are going." Ty added, "we will call you in the morning before you leave." The call went silent as JT spoke up, "And Mom, no rainchecks tonight, Daddy need his rest." Everyone burst into laughter as they said good night.

After an uncomfortable and restless night Amy woke up to the beeping and noise of the hospital. Ty was still sleeping as they had given him a sedative. She quietly got up went to the bathroom and headed out looking for coffee. The nurse from yesterday was back on shift and waved her over. "I know what you want," handing her a cup from the nurses stash. I hear it was a rough night, how is he?" Amy smiled tiredly, "He is sleeping but he seems really uncomfortable and in pain. He is a really tough guy but this seems to have him whipped." She smiled, "He is not bad on the eyes either. Oh don't worry I have been married for 30 years but the girls are all talking about the two of you. Seems you are well known." Amy smiled, "Ehh he's not too bad" They laughed as Amy got serious, "He is my life and when I saw him get kicked my heart stopped. I love him so much and all of us need him." She put her head down as tears began. The nurse came around the counter and hugged and soothed her. "Amy he will be fine." The doctor came over seeing the exchange and went to fill Amy in. "Good morning, I hear he had a rough night. This is no alarm but I really think we need to keep him one more night. I know he will go back to work too soon so another night will keep him from that at least. Outside of the kids and a few others, I want to make sure we limit his visitors. I am sure he can go home tomorrow." Amy smiled thanking both of them and headed back to see Ty sitting up and awake. He smiled still a little groggy, "Hey beautiful, I missed waking up with you." They kissed and she filled him in on the plan. Although he was a little upset he understood. They called home and promised the kids they could come see him after school. Jack agreed to come and stay with Ty so Amy could go home and check up on things, especially Pharaoh. As the day progressed Ty was feeling much better especially when all sorts of flowers started showing up from everyone. He was really impressed when a huge arrangement came from the Forrest family with their apologies. He made a point to call Stu and tell him none were needed.

Clay and Katie were bringing the kids and an extra vehicle for Amy and Ty to use when he came home. Amy had already came back to relieve Jack. A couple of the nurses heard of the visit and staff started gathering in anticipation. The Borden's were a well-known family and several of the staff had witnessed the love they had for each other in the past. Right on time Ty and Amy heard a lot of activity outside their room. Somewhat controlled, Lyndy and Wyatt brought the kids in followed by Katie and Clay. Wyatt made it a point to carry little JT to keep him under control. That lasted about a second as he wriggled out of his arms and jumped into the bed with his dad. The girls hugged their mother and then went to their dad trying to be a little gentler. Even Wyatt came over to give his only father figure a gentle hug. The onlookers were overwhelmed with the closeness of this family. Idle chatter went on and the kids did a great job of controlling their emotions as they had been coached by Katie. Ty and Amy wanted to hear about their day. One nurse leaned over to a nurse that knew the family. "Wow they are so young to have 6 kids and I have to say the mom is stunning and the dad, Oh my." The nurse laughed, "Yes they are an amazing family and not doubt he is a keeper. Amy and Ty have been together a long time. And the older boy is not their son. He is the oldest daughter's boyfriend and they have guardianship over him as he has no parents or grandparents. And he actually lives with them full time." The nurse was going to respond but had no words. The kids hung around for over an hour until the head nurse kicked them out. After 20 minutes of goodbyes they got ready to leave as Amy noticed Ty whispering to their very emotional son. As they left she had to ask, "What did you say to JT babe." He smiled with a small tear in his eye. "I told him that I loved him and to not think this was his fault." She smiled and climb up to her spot. They had a great evening snuggling and Ty was feeling better. A few times an embarrassed nurse would walk in and interrupted a passionate couple kissing. Needless to say, they were looking forward to coming home in the morning.
