Chapter Ninety
When Family is Needed
A/N – I know I have wavered a bit from Borden specific stuff but I have always been driven to include all of the great things that happen around them. As I have developed the famliy members I have attempted to show the commitment and love they have for family and friends. JT and Wyatt are starting to be a favorite storyline of mine and we will see where that goes. As you know we have another baby close by and a wedding on the way. I am not sure yet but I again may need a couple of chapters as this birth as expected will be challenging. We shall see. After this we will go all Borden for a bit. Lots of summer fun and time apart for Amy and Ty from their kids. Should be a blast. Keep the reviews coming, as I just got another great idea from a reader for a storyline. Right now I am good through Christmas and plan on continuing. Mature Content Enjoy!
The Weber twins were till on a high from their party and had already had a few sessions with Katie and Caly on their new horses. With some help from Maddie, Hannah had named her little filly, Ruby and Noah picked Rascal for his rambunctious Colt. He was a firecracker and they made sure they kept him under control while working with Noah. Ruby could have been the sweetest horse ever just like her rider. During their second session, Georgie and Steven came and watched with Nate. Hannah yelled over, "Mommy can Nate ride with me." She smiled, "Not quite yet honey, when you get more comfortable we may try it." She smiled happy with the answer. As expected the action-packed visit from the Borden's the day after Rosey's birth was amazing. Cass's parents marveled at the four young women and the love they had for the baby and their daughter. They patiently took turns holding her as the adults chatted. Wyatt took Ben and JT to the play area so they could burn off some steam but not before young Ben spoke up, "Now you girls make sure you are careful with my sister." The whole group laughed at how adorable it was. Cass's dad spoke up to Maddie, "Young lady I understand we owe you a lot of thanks. We hear you were the one who organized everything, even the communication stuff. Cass's mom and I are very impressed and very thankful." Maddie blushed, "It was nothing, it is just what I do. Thank you. We love Cass, Caleb and Ben and now Rosey too." Amy laughed, Mr. Feigh, you have done something no one has ever been able to do. You made Maddie blush." Everyone laughed as Maddie smiled. They all refocused their attention on Cass and Rosey. After a while Wyatt came back with JT and Ben a bit flushed. "Man these two have a lot of energy. If I wouldn't have taken them for ice cream we would still be at the play area." Everyone laughed again as Lyndy smiled and whispered to her mom, "He is so good with kids and reminds me of dad all the time." Amy smiled leaning into her, "Well then like me are a lucky woman." The held each other watching over the visit content about the men in their lives.
After reluctantly leaving the Borden's headed home for dinner. Jack, Lisa, Max and Lilly took Cassandra's parents out to the Italian restaurant in town. It was an early evening for them because they wanted to be there to help Cass, Caleb and little Rosey come home tomorrow. At dinner, the Borden's went over the plan for tomorrow. The girls, Lou and Amy were going to get their house ready, cleaned and fully stocked. Lou had Maggie's put together several pre-packaged meals that they could use over the next week giving them some much needed baby time. Clay, Wyatt and Rusty assured Caleb that they had everything covered so he could take some time off. Maddie went over her list of what everyone had to do in the morning. Even Jack, Max and Tim had a few fishing days planned so Ben would be staying busy. After dinner was done and the Borden's went to bed. Ty sat in bed looking over notes for a big surgery they had in the morning. But he couldn't help being distracted as Amy did her hair and moisturizer thing. He laughed, "Need help with the lotion Ames? I would be more than happy to assist." She glanced at him seductively and with her finger, motioned him over. She whispered, "Ok rub your hands together and get them warm. The get some lotion and rub it on my arms to my shoulders. Here let me pull my t-shirt off to make it easier." Ty couldn't speak as he moved his hands up her arms, over her shoulders and onto her back. Amy moaned as his hands glided over her soft skin. Breathlessly she continued, "Well that was good, now it is time for my legs." She noticed that his arousal was easy to see as she positioned her legs on his lap. "Ok, same thing, move your hands from my feet, up my calf, over me knee and up my thigh." She started to shake a little as her arousal grew. "Yea just like that." Her head leaned back as Ty advanced a little higher up causing her to squirm a bit. "Ty, that is perfect," she whispered. At some point she somehow managed to get some lotion in her hands and quicky began to rub his shoulders and chest. They quickly went to their bed with lotion bottle in hand. Over the next hour they made sure every inch of their lover's body was smooth and silky. The bonus was that they each reach orgasm multiple times. Soon after they joined as one and with the help of their glistening bodies their movements were extremely hot and sexy. This love making session was brought to a peak as they each exploded in ecstasy. As they recovered, Ty said, "Well that was amazing Ames, I think we need to keep working on our lotion skills." Amy could barely talk but answered him, "Ty just when I thought making love to you is the best thing in the world that happens." She shuttered and held him tightly. "I love you so, so much." They fell into a blissful sleep with their night of love with lotion fresh on their minds.
The next morning Amy and Ty were sleeping peacefully when there was a knock on the door. Maddie proclaimed, "I know you guys like to sleep in but we have a lot to do. Breakfast is ready so get a move on." Generally they would be mad but after last night's activities they were both too happy to be upset. They got up showered and headed downstairs. Luckily, Lyndy had coached the kids and they were quiet setting up plates for their parents. Annie spoke up, "I can't wait to see Rosey this morning, she is the cutest baby." JT frowned a little, "I thought I was?" She laughed, "You were really cute too but now you are handsome." He was satisfied with the answer and continued with his cereal. Wyatt and him always had the same breakfast and today it was cereal and toast. Maddie took over, "Ok we all know our roles today right?" Everyone shook their heads in agreement. "I will be with Lou shopping for food, sisters and Katie are on house prep and mom and dad after you work you will be there to greet them with us. Don't forget we need to get their guest room ready for Cassandra's parents since they decided to stay with them." Ty laughed, "We got it Lou, oh I mean Maddie." Everyone laughed as Maddie stared at him. "Well someone has to do it." As they cleaned up Amy took them to the house and Jack showed up to get JT and then Ben, who was with Jenn still at Fairfield. Ty and Amy headed over to their office as Amy had two new clients coming in the morning and Ty had a pretty tricky surgery with Steven. A little after lunch they would head to the O'Dell's as Cass, Rosey and Caleb were expected home then. After a rare lunch with just the two of them, which included feeding each other and a little make out session they headed over. When they pulled up they laughed at the banner in the yard welcoming Rosey home. They parked and walked in to see and immaculate house with flowers and candles everywhere. Jack showed up with the little guys and along with Lisa were going to stay. Scott also came with Ellie to greet them but they had to get back to the clinic soon after. Amy hugged her youngest daughter tightly whispering, "Maddie this is awesome you did an amazing job." She smiled into her chest very happy with the results.
The O'Dell family pulled up to the house as the greeters stood to the porch with big smiles. When they parked, Caleb got out and helped Cass and Little Rosey get out of the back seat with her mom. Cass's dad stepped out of the passenger seat carrying a number of bags, and flowers. Little Ben ran to the car to see his mom and new little sister as others went to help carry things. Cass looked at the banner and tearfully thanked Maddie as she suspected that she was behind it. As the entered the house Cass and Caleb were overwhelmed with what they saw. More people were inside scurrying about setting up food and flowers. Cass, smiled with tears, "You guys the house looks awesome, even Rosey likes it," as the baby squirmed in her arms. "I think Rosey is hungry so she and Caleb went to their room for some privacy. Ben asked, "Can I help feed her mommy?" Before she needed to answer, Annie and Addie took him along with JT, Bray and Jax out to play distracting him successfully. Cass mouthed thank you to them as they headed out. After Rosey was finished they joined the crowd sitting around the house and on the porch. Food was out so everyone had a bite to eat as a very awake Rosey was passed around to everyone woman there. Maddie was holding her and ask her, "Do you like your welcome home party. There will be lots of them so get used to it kid. And if you ever need anything you let me know." Amy and Cass held each other tearfully watching the exchange. "Cass whispered, "Amy do you think she would like to be her godmother?" Amy smiled, "Cass you would make her day." She approached them and said, "Maddie she seems to really like you." Caleb walked over to stand next to her as she continued, "Would you so us the honor and be her godmother, I think she would be very happy if you were." For a moment Maddie was silent as a glint of a small tear formed in her eye. She breathed heavily and responded, "That would be amazing, I won't let you down." Others who were looking on applauded and Rosey raised her arms reacting to the noise. The party continued but everyone planned on not being around long to give the family so time alone. Lou and Maddie took Cass and her mom to the kitchen and showed them all of the food and let her know that Maggie's would be delivering food to them over the next few days. Now it was time for Cass's mom to get emotional as she tearfully thanked both of them. Cass and Caleb held each other and said their goodbyes and thank yous as everyone left. It had been a great day.
Over the next few days the Borden family were in full work and fun mode. As usually Amy was very busy with a continuing flow of new clients. Georgie was getting more engaged so that was helping but Katie was getting more distracted as their wedding approached. Amy and the girls had dress fittings as Ty and Wyatt also got fitted for their tuxes. Katie and Clay were still working but wedding prep was a big part of their day. With Cass out for a bit, Ty and Scott brought Steven, Ellie and Mandy in on more things. They needed their help but also believed they were ready for the challenge. If there was a norm the entire group had reached it. Ty and Amy were pleased to see everyone gelling so well handling the absence of Cass and Caleb. In the office one morning they were talking with Lou and Georgie about the day ahead. Lou commented, "Have you heard from Will and Bethany? How is she doing." Amy quietly responded, "Jenn and I went to see her yesterday and she is really having a rough time. They see her doctor today and Will thinks they may put her in the hospital until the baby is born." Ty added, "I spoke to Will and she is hiding some things from everyone. He broke down with me and said they doctors are concerned for the baby's well-being and think they may not wait any longer and deliver it. They need to check the baby to see if with they suspect is a reality." He hesitated and choking up a bit continued, "The baby has some challenges for sure, they just need to see once the baby is born. Will is very concerned for Bethany and their new baby." The four of them sat quietly and Lou finally spoke. "Well Maddie's plan is ready to go so once we get the word it will be go time. Amy do you think we should tell the family, especially your girls?" Amy answered, "Well Ty did ask Will and he was Ok with it but ask that we keep things close to just family. He is concerned that if too many people know it would upset his wife." They all agreed and went back to work.
As the week progressed the famliy and the business was moving along smoothly. Even with Cass still out the vet team was staying on top of things and Amy's team was gelling. She continued to bring in staff members who seemed interested in their work and along with Georgie, Katie and Lyndy vetted them out. Wyatt was enjoying working with horses but more specifically was leaning a lot as a vet tech. Lyndy was excited for him and proud of his efforts, even though she didn't get to see him as much. Annie, Addie and Maddie continued to be engaged in the work but were also allowed to have time to enjoy their summer and their interest. Maddie, Annie and Gwen were fully engaged in horse jumping and Addie was working with her dad restoring an old Indian motorcycle that her parents said she could keep for herself. Annie and Addie were still close to Jeremy and Desi as they came around sometimes to help care and ride the family horses, which included the ones at Heartland. Clay and Katie were in the final stretch of wedding prep as Lou was her usual task master making sure they met all the deadlines. She always had her assistant Maddie nearby and the family laughed at the two of them. At dinner one night, Addie joked, "So Lou Jr. how are the wedding plans going and is the call tree ready for Bethany and Will?" She glanced with conviction to her sister and the rest of the family. "Everything is on schedule for the wedding, thank you very much and when the call comes in from Will we are ready to go." She pulled out her notebook and shared all of the information and plans. JT laughed, "Maddie you are awesome, don't let those two bother you." She smiled and gave her little brother a big kiss on the cheek while staring at Annie and Addie sternly. Amy and Ty just sat back and laughed at their kid's banter. It made them both feel warm inside to see how they interacted and loved each other.
The next morning started like every other day at the Miracle Ranch. After some sleeping in by Amy and Ty the family joined together for a lively breakfast. Everyone shared their activities for the day and cleaned up. Jack showed up with Max as they were headed to do some fishing with JT and some of the other boys, including Billy who was staying with the stillman's and their boys. Bethany was on complete bed rest and although trying to be helpful he was better hanging with them for a while. Amy and Ty were in the office clearing off emails when Ty's phone went off. He said hello and immediately had a look of concern. Amy went to him and after he finished he looked at her, "That was Will, Bethany passed out and they are on the way to the hospital in an ambulance. Call Maddie and let's get the show on the road. Amy I think we need to head to the hospital and meet them. Will is obviously very upset and they need us." Without a word, she called Lyndy and told her to get Maddie to start the process. Ty called Scott and Steven and gave them a heads up. On the way Amy called Lou and Georgie and gave them an update. She also called Jenn as she had become a good friend od Bethany's and decided they would pick her up on the way. Lyndy and Wyatt got with Jack and told him to bring the boys back to the Miracle Ranch and they would take care with them with help from Annie and Addie. Everyone knew their place as Amy, Ty and Jenn pulled up to the Emergency Department. As they entered they saw Will and approached him. He was very distraught so they found a private area to talk with him. He spoke hesitantly, "One minute she was Ok and they she felt a pain and passed out in the chair. I was so afraid, she was breathing but not waking up. When the ambulance got their they stabilized her and said the baby and her had good vital signs. On the ride she woke up briefly and looked at me with tears in her eyes. She whispered to me and asked is the baby was Ok. I told her yes and then she blacked out again. All sorts of alarms went off and the Medics started working on her again. I have never been so terrified in my life." He broke down and fell into Ty and Amy's arms sobbing. After he gathered himself, the doctor came out, "Mr. Masters first off your wife and baby are doing fine. I will not sugar coat this but as we knew this is going to be a stressful birth for both of them. But we are monitoring them both closely and when we need to move we will." As Will's shoulder's slumped he continued, "She passed out because the baby, which is quite large moved and restricted some blood flow to your wife's lungs." The restricted oxygen causes her to black out. Her O2 level is still not where we want it and if it doesn't improve we may need to go in and take the baby." Will responded quietly, "Bethany and I know that a C-Section was a good possibly and we are prepared to take that route. Can we see her?" He smiled and led the into her room.
As Will entered followed by Amy, Ty and Jenn a very tired Bethany smiled at him with tears in her eyes, "Honey I am so sorry, I was really feeling good this morning and then this happened. The doctor said he is fine but we may need to go ahead with a C-Section, like soon." She blushed realizing that she had just told her visitors they were having a boy. Amy and Jenn gleamed, "That is awesome Bethany, we need some more men around the place." They all smiled and laughed but almost immediately Bethany had her a strong contraction. Alarms and beeps went off and the attentive nurses came in to check things out. Bethany's eyes were wide open, she knew what labor was like but as a woman she also knew something was off. After some checks the lead nurse spoke to her and Wil quietly as the others stepped back. When she finished Will spoke as strong as he could, "Guys we need to get going so I will let you know when the little guys comes to join us." They all smiled as Amy and Jenn hugged Bethany and Ty held Will in his arms, noticing his shakes. He whispered, "Be strong for her Will. They need you." He smiled and hugged him again. Amy couldn't help but notice their bond and Ty's support. She loved him for it and as they left she grabbed his hand and kissed his cheek. Jenn laughed, "Do you guys need some time and do I get a hug too?" Ty looked at her and put his other arm around her and kissed her cheek as well. The three of them headed to the waiting room and got on their phones to update the folks at home. Meanwhile Bethany was moved to the Operating Room for the C-Section and Will gowned up. Due to the severity of the procedure they were prepared for any challenge that came their way. Before she fell asleep Will hugged her and she whispered. "Our special child is almost here, I can't wait."
Only the Borden's and Stillman's knew that their baby had Downs Syndrome. Will and Bethany had told them privately when they found out and their support was unbelievable. They were unsure of the level of the diagnosis but after meeting Gwen and Sylvia their hopes were high. Secretly Bethany was also pleased at the way Billy interacted with the two older girls and hoped that that would be the same with his soon to be born brother. As she went under Will stepped back and watch the skillful teamwork at bring his son into the world. One team focused on his wife and the other on the baby. Billy's birth was extremely difficult for her and she had to recuperate a little longer than normal in the hospital. But he smiled because she loved being a mom and even though it was a risk she really wanted a second child. As the procedure began the doctor's kept Will informed as he sat back not able to see what was going on. As he listened her heard the professionalism in how the teams communicated. He heard an alarm go off and noticed the nurse watching the baby leaned over to the doctor and whisper something. He spoke up to the other team and mentioned that the baby's heartbeat was dropping and that they need to move forward quickly. Will stood up but the nurse grabbed his arm and settled him. "Don't worry, with situations like this the baby sometimes will show some signs of stress. The team is prepared and they will make sure each of them are Ok." Will settled as his look now was of concern for his wife and new son. The team worked diligently and finally retrieved the baby from her womb. Will waited anxiously until he heard a cry, the weight of the world off his shoulders. Now the tears started but they were interrupted as several alarms and beeps went off. His wife was in distress and the team with her began frantically working to stabilize her. He called out her name collapsing in his chair with the nurses hands on his shoulder. After 15 minutes which seemed like hours he saw the team relax as they were able to get her vitals back to normal. The doctor smiled at Will and told him he would follow up later after they got back to their room.
After a few minutes Bethany came to and smiled at her husband, "Hey, where is the baby." He held her as the nurse brought over their beautiful son. The nursed smiled broadly as he handed him to Bethany, "He is a beautiful baby boy and he looks like he needs his mommy, he is a little fussy. I bet he is hungry, Are you ready to feed him." Bethany smiled and Will was a little concerned. "Is that Ok?" The nurse smiled assuring them it would be Ok. While Bethany nursed him, Will headed out to see their support team but before he left he confirmed that it was OK to tell them his name. She smiled and reached up to give him a kiss. Will headed out to the waiting room and as soon as they saw him they all jumped up. Amy spoke, "Well, do we have a baby yet? Will smiled broadly, "Yes we do and it was a little shaky but baby and mom are fine. She is feeding him right now and then they will move to the room." Amy and Jenn squealed with glee hugging him tightly as Ty patted his shoulder. Jenn, asked, "You said shaky, did something happen?" He looked at them with concern, "The C-Section went well but after the birth, Bethany went into distress. They had to work to bring her back. The doctor said he would explain it later." He shook a little, "I thought I lost her, I was so scared." Amy and Jenn hugged him tighter as Ty spoke up. "Well seems she is Ok and we are here for you, Whatever you need. We are going to let everyone know and then meet you in the room. Is there a name we can share?" Will smiled, " Beauregard (Beau) Landon Tyler. We are going to call him Beau. That was my grandpa's name and Landon is the name of Bethany's brother who was killed by a drunk driver when he was 16. And Ty, you have meant so much to Beth and I and we wanted to recognize that." Ty could not speak as he went an hugged him tightly whispering thank you to him. Amy and Jenn looked on with tears in their eyes. Will headed back and the three of them got on their phones spreading the word of the new member of the family.
The next few days were filled with visitors, a lot of hugs and a lot of baby holding. Everyone agreed that he might be the cutest baby ever and the love for him was everywhere. Will watched as everyone was so attentive to Beau and Bethany, feeling the love. Never was there a mention of how he looked, as all the conversations were positive and supportive. With Will's permission, Maddie was allowed to bring Gwen and Sylvia to see him. With his diagnosis and Bethany's issues they had to stay in the hospital a little longer that normal so extra guest were welcomed. Maddie walked up with her friends as Bethany had just finished feeding him. The three of them walked over to the couch as Will brought Beau over to them. Gwen looked up, "Can I hold him?" Bethany smiled, "Of course you can, just have a seat and Will will hand him to you." Will smiled handing him over, "Here you go, hold him just like this." She smiled as the three young girls fussed over him smiling and laughing. But then something happened that overwhelmed everyone in the room. Gwen looked right at him and whispered, "Beau, Sylvia and I will always be here for you. We are the three musketeers. Everyone loves you very much but Syl and I love you even more." Amy, Ty, Jenn, Ben, Lyndy and Wyatt were in the room and joined Will and Bethany in tears of joy and love. Will whispered to his wife, "That was amazing, I can't believe how amazing those two are. Beau is going to be fine and loved by everyone." She couldn't even speak as they looked on as Gwen and Sylvia pledged their love and support. The rest of the week they were there saw continued improvement for both mother and son. Jenn solidified her friendship with Bethany by being there a lot for her and bringing Billy several times to see them. She kept him with her so Will could come and go freely and since her boys got along so well with him. Maddie, Gwen and Sylvia also spent time with the boys making sure Billy was good. After 5 days they got the news that they could go home and everyone was ecstatic. Lou, Katie and the Borden girls had spent time at their house cleaning and getting everything ready for the family to come home the same way they did for Cass and Caleb. All the home needed was the family to come home.
The morning of discharge, Amy, Ty and Jenn came to get the family and take them home. Before they left though the doctor and several therapist wanted to meet them to go over some things they needed to know about Beau's diagnosis. They asked Amy, Ty and Jenn to be there to so they all sat down in a small meeting room. The lead Therapist began. "We wanted to sit down with you before you took Beau home. I know we have talked and you have been educating yourself of his needs but we wanted to take some time to review them and talk about some things you want to watch for. First of all he is the cutest baby and you will find that Downe's Syndrome children are extremely loving and caring for everyone close to them. It is early but he initially has scored high on some basic cognitive test we ran." Amy spoke up. "My youngest daughter has two friends with Downs and they are what we have been told high functioning. Is it too early to know that?" Then other therapist answered, "Yes it is but he shows signs of that already. I have met Gwen and Sylvia and they are amazing. Although every child is different I have found that external influences are a huge impact on the development of these children and from what I see Beau will have an abundance of that. I truly believe those two young girls will be a great help, if you allow them to be." Bethany put her head down with a bit of a tear. The others noticed and gave her some time to talk, "Well, along with Maddie they talked to me privately one day and assured me they would be there for him. Amy and Ty, Maddie is the true glue with that group. Watching her is a blessing and she is so special." They smiled and grabbed Bethany's hand as she continued looking at the support team from the hospital. "I don't know if you are aware but Maddie was recognized years ago by the Provincial Down's Syndrome Association as the advocate of the year. She befriended Gwen and has helped her and Sylvia grow as young women." The therapist smiled, "I remember that as I was at the announcement meeting. You all are very lucky to have her there for all of you, especially Beau. I have no doubt he will flourish with the three of them in the mix." Amy and Ty smile and held hands tightly as the meeting concluded. Will and Bethany thanked them and hugged their friends. Will smiled at his wife. "Let's go home."
As they pulled up to the house, Amy and Ty saw a now familiar scene, a Welcome Home banner strung across the porch and a group of people waiting to greet the new family. Bethany and Will had some famliy but they were not close, so had planned to get settled before having them come to visit. As Will and Bethany got out of the car they were overwhelmed with hugs and kisses welcoming them home. With Bethany's permission, Katie took little Beau in as they walked into an immaculate home and all sorts of streamers and balloons. But what really got them was the decorated and set up in the room for Beau. For the first few months he would be in a baby crib in their room but when ready the room was perfect. Ty and Clay went over the monitors and cameras they set up for them with Will. Lou, Amy and Georgie went over the food stocks and reminded them to that the first few weeks dinner would be brought from Maggie's for them. Lou smiled, "Bethany you are family and this is what we do. Enjoy time with you kids and husband, let us handle the other stuff." She broke down hugging the three of them tightly. She had never had such love given to her before and it was overwhelming. The kids kept a watchful eye over Beau and Billy who was very protective of his little brother. Jenn stood by Bethany's side as Ben hung with the younger boys making sure they were occupied in the backyard. Will and Bethnay finally found each other and sat with Amy and Ty. Amy smiled, "So what do you think?" Bethany smiled, "This is better than perfect you guys. I can't believe what you have done for Will the boys and I." It is overwhelming and I can't tell you how much it means to us." Ty smiled and spoke up, "Well you guys this is how this crazy family rolls and you are a part of it. Anything you need we are hear for you, just let us know." Will and Bethany sat in astonishment at the selfless love that they were seeing. They couldn't even respond but their tears and smiles spoke volumes."
