Chapter One Hundred-Twelve
Moving Forward, Together
A/N – Well there you have it. As an FYI, I researched CFS so I could be as factual as I could. I believe in legitimacy and wanted to make sure I understood what the little guy was dealing with. And to reinforce the JT lovefest, I expected this to be the most read and hopefully critiqued chapter I have written in a while. Early indications show it will be viewed by a lot of dedicated readers. Well as you know Christmas is approaching but there is still a lot going on. A young man is getting his license and a truck. The family will rally around young JT and help him. Although stoic you will see his vulnerabilities and need for them to be there for him. And with everything else going on the semester is ending and the older kids will be focused on their studies and sneak in a little social life, like maybe a date in a truck. Ty and Amy will continue to move on and focus on the little guy but also the rest of the kids and of course their work. More than ever they will have to rely on each other and we know that seems to always be just what they need. Family challenges are always handled in different ways, but the Bordens as always will be all in. Please continue to let me know how I and doing and don't stop giving me ideas. Mature Content Enjoy!
Over the next couple of days word of the youngest Borden's doctor visit and diagnosis spread discretely among the family and staff. Amy and Ty met with the staff at school and decided outside of some added time to rest, JT's schedule would not vary much. He was really happy about that. Amy, Ty, the girls and Wyatt became his silent caregivers. They made sure that everyone knew quietly he didn't want a fuss but also encouraged them to let them know if they saw anything alarming. JT was in great spirits and was happy to be back to normal. It was hard but the girls and Wyatt did their best to give him some space but at times it was a challenge. A few days after the diagnosis was disclosed, the kids were studying together before dinner. With the five older kids prepping for exams, JT kind of just watched them quietly, working on some of his schoolwork. As they all were working the door opened and in strolled Jack smiling. "Hey kids, busy studying I see." He went straight to JT and put his hands on his shoulders. "So if your mom and dad are Ok with it I need a date for dinner. Everyone left me alone again and I have to go into town. So you and me Maggie's?" JT looked at his mom and dad with pleading eyes, "Please, can I go. I know it is a school night but we won't be late." Amy smiled, "Of course you can, it sounds like GG needs some company." He happily got his coat and headed out with his best friend. The kids finished their studies as dinner was ready. They were talking about school and the fact that Ty was taking Wyatt for his driving test on Friday and then truck shopping on Saturday. Wyatt asked, "So I hope I can find a good truck with the money grandma left me." Amy smiled, "Well Wyatt let's just see what you find and we will worry about the cost later." Not fully understanding he just smiled. Annie and Addie giggled as Addie spoke up, "So Lyndy when is the first big date?" Lyndy blushed, "I don't know and it will have to be during the daylight, since he has to wait six months to drive at night without a licensed driver with him." Annie giggled winking her eyes, "You can still have a nice date in the daylight." They all laughed as Wyatt and Lyndy blushed a little. They sat silent for a while as Ty finally spoke up, "So who called GG?" All of their heads went down. Lyndy spoke first, "When Wyatt and I were at Heartland we may have mentioned it to him, sorry." Maddie was next, "I told Lou and Katie and then they told me they would let him know." Annie laughed, "Well Addie and I asked him the other day when we were helping him at the house." Ty smiled and a tear came to Amy's eye. She whispered, "You guys are just wonderful. Thank you for caring for JT so much, dad and I love you so much." Lyndy smiled and spoke for the group, "Mom and dad, he is our little brother and we will always be there for him." Ty and Amy clutched their hands under the table as happy as they had ever been.
The remainder of the week went well for the Borden's. The kids were preparing for the end of school exams, JT was doing really well and both Amy and Ty were very busy. Amy, Georgie and Katie had an onslaught of challenging horses and were making sure they got them to a good place before the entire operation shut down for the holiday. Katie was watching Amy work with a biter in the round pen, attempting to join up with the high-strung filly. She laughed, "Wow Amy she is a hyper horse, want me to give it a try. Amy slowed the horse down and went over to the fence line. "You know I think this girl has a thing for other women. The owner told me she really likes her husband and he doesn't have a lot to do with their horses at all." Katie laughed as Clay come over giving her a kiss on the cheek followed by Rusty. Rusty laughed, "Do I get a kiss too?" They all laughed and Amy noticed the horse react to Rusty's voice. She looked at him, "Hey Rusty, come on in here with me. Try to use some of those manly charms to get this girl to join up. I don't think she likes women." He laughed and began to move her around the ring. Within 10 minutes, he had here moving at his command and 5 minutes later, she came up behind him and nuzzled his shoulder. Amy and Katie stood there in amazement and Amy laughed, "Well Rusty you have a new horse to work with." He chuckled as he rubbed the filly's muzzle. "What can I say, I am a ladies man." Katie laughed, I'll remember that when Haley shows up in a couple of week, lover boy." Ty had just finished his third surgery of the day and headed back to the office. He put his feet on the desk as Steven and Cass came in for a quick debrief. Steven spoke, "Man that was a challenge for sure, Cass thanks for your assist." She smiled, "No problem, I have done a couple of those and they can be tricky." Ty smiled watching them interact and finally spoke up, "Well I have to tell you, we definitely needed all hands-on deck. With all of Amy and Georgie's new horses coming in and the uptick on surgeries I hope we survive until Christmas." Amy came into the overwhelmed group noticing their looks of exhaustion. "Wow you three look spent, rough day?" Cass laughed, "For sure, but we have an advantage for sure. Amy, we are moms, overwork is our middle name." They high fived each other as Georgie walked in and Steven and Ty glared at them. She looked confused, "What's going on, are you picking on my hubby wubby." Ty almost fell out of his chair as they all laughed. He snorted, "Did you just call him you hubby wubby? I think I might hurl." Amy took her turn to glare at her husband, "Should I tell them what I call you." Turing a bright shade of red he pleaded, "Absolutely not."
It was the last day of the week and the Borden's were having a lively breakfast. Amy and Ty talked about work, JT talked about the upcoming school holiday party and Wyatt and the girls fretted about exams. All of a sudden Lyndy looked up and cheered, "Wyatt, you are getting your license today!" Everyone cheered as he put his head down. Ty spoke up to him. "So I will pick you up right after school ends and we will go to the DMV. Are you still good with using the small SUV?" He smiled, "Absolutely!" They all wished him good luck and after cleaning up got ready to get their buses. As Lyndy and Wyatt waled to get theirs they held hands laughing and leaning into each other. Maddie gagged, "OMG, it's a mom and dad mini mes." The twins laughed and JT huffed, not happy with her picking on them. Before he could protest, she hugged him, "Just kidding little bro." The day went well for everyone and as the school day came to an end, Wyatt and Lyndy walked out looking for Ty. When the approached the car, Ty looked at both of them, "Is Lyndy coming to?" Wyatt smiled, "Is that Ok, I want her to be there for support. She is my lucky charm." Ty smiled remembering that he had taken Amy even though at the time they were on a time out. "Of course but we will have to wait back at the office while you take it." They pulled up to the DMV center and Wyatt expertly parked near the front. They all went in but Wyatt went to check in for his appointment. The tester called his name and came over to where they were sitting. She smiled, "I am assuming this is your dad and sister?" Not wanting to cause to much of an uproar, he simply said, yes they are." He smiled and before he headed out he kissed Lyndy lightly on the cheek and smiled, blushing at the officer, "Well maybe she is my girlfriend." She laughed and they went to the car. Lyndy watched as they walked around the car. Then Wyatt got in and followed the commands of the tester with blinkers and taillights going on and off. Ty grabbed her arm, "Honey let him be will you, he will do fine." As they were talking the tester got in the car and off they went. It would be the longest 40 minutes of Lyndy's life. As she looked out she screamed, "Look daddy they're back." A calm Wyatt parked and with the tester got out of the SUV. He shook her hand and thanked her, following her into the office. Ty had to hold Lyndy back as Wyatt sat with the tester going over the test. She finally calmed when the officer handed over his temp license, shaking his hand. Wyatt waved them over as the tester spoke, "Well your son is now a licensed driver. He has some restriction for the first six months and as his father you and your wife will need to ensure he follows the rules. He did very well scoring 95% and by the way he explained the family thing." As they got up the officer shook Ty's hand and said quietly, "He is a fine young man, and what you have done for him is amazing. Have a good day."
The ride home was fun but Wyatt was very focused on his driving. Lyndy made a quick text to let them know to get ready at home. Little did Wyatt know but a family celebration awaited him. As they pulled up to the Miracle Ranch he noticed a small crowd of people assembled on the porch with a big Congratulations banner hanging. All the people who loved him were there. Before he got out he looked at Ty and Lyndy, "First off this is too much but I figured you were doing something, JT kind of let it slip. But most importantly thank you for letting me be a part of your family. Today while I was taking my test I felt my grandma with me, it helped me do well bringing a warmth to my soul. And when I pulled up and saw you to and felt that same warmth. I love both of you very much." Lyndy kissed his cheek and Ty clutched his hand. They got out and Wyatt saw JT at full speed heading his way screaming, "You did it, I knew you would. Can you take me for a ride?" Wyatt gathered him in his arms and hugged him tightly. "Thanks buddy, but I think I need to go to my party, maybe tomorrow." He smiled and kissed his cheek, moving to Lyndy for a hug as well. As they walked up the porched steps he was met with hugs and congrats from everyone. He looked directly at Amy as she opened her arms for a motherly hug, whispering congratulation in his ear and adding, "Grandma June would be so proud." He smiled hugging her tightly. The moved into the house that was set up for a typical family party. Maggie's catered food was set up ready for everyone to eat. Before they began Jack got everyone's attention, "Well before the food gets cold, I have to say something. Wyatt we are all very proud of you today, even Tim who is still concerned that you will be on the road alone with his granddaughter." Everyone laughed as Tim yelled, "That's right!" Jack continued, "But I also have to say that I expect that your grandma June is proud as well. I am sure she is with your grandpa, mom and dad looking down at you right now as proud as proud can be." Jack noticed that JT wanted to say something and looked at him to speak. Sorry to interrupt but I can assure you they are proud because Grandma and Great Grandma told me they have met them and are all proud of you and love you very much." As always when his revelations were made the room became silent. JT came over to him and whispered something in his ear only meant for him to hear. Misty eyes were everywhere as the two of them embraced. Jack wiped his eyes and finally said, "Well let's eat."
There were a lot of people but as always everyone seemed to fit. Like Heartland, Amy and Ty had installed drop down heavy cloth walls of the extended porch and after adding a few portable heaters made it a place to spread out. Everyone was broken up in groups chatting away. As always babies got a lot of attention and again Lou, Amy and Georgie watch Katie and Clay navigating toward Beau, Nate and Rosey. Georgie smiled, "Something is up with those two, I hope they get pregnant soon." Lou and Amy smiled as they looked on. Ty sat with Jack, Scott and Tim looking on at the party. Jack commented, "You know Wyatt has become a part of the family, kind of like the two of you weaseled your way in." Tim joked, "Yea Jack but I kind of like him more, but he better treat or little girl right!" They all laughed at Tim's idle threat as he seemed to always be the protector of the women in the family. The party continued on as Wyatt even got a call from Max and Lilly congratulating him on his milestone. Wyatt and Lyndy, who were inseparable, were called over by the Borden kids along with Clay and Katie. He sat down as Maddie spoke up for them, "So, when are we going truck shopping?" They laughed and joked about colors and truck body type. Katie smiled, "Lyndy make sure he gets an extended cab, that extra seat comes in handy," as she jabbed Clay in the ribs. Lyndy turned a bright shade of red as JT looked confused. "What's so big about a back seat, it just means you can fit more people." They all laughed as he was still lost. Amy got everyone's attention as it was time for cake. Ty came out smiling carrying a special cake made to look like a truck with a lot of detail. Lou's friend Marnie made it just for this event. The crowd clapped as Wyatt smiled widely. Cake and Ice cream were given out and the family enjoyed the celebration for the young man. Unknown to the rest of the group the four girls made a pack to keep an eye on little JT. As the cake was passed out Annie looked over at him noticing him look back with a furrowed brow. Without having to speak Addie felt what she saw and the two of them went to his side. He hopped up on her lap and leaned into her. Addie stroked his back as they tried to be discreet and not cause a scene. JT looked at them realizing what was happening and whispered, "Please help me." Annie picked him up and quietly took him to his room. There was so much going on that no one noticed outside of Wyatt and Lyndy. Addie went to her mom and whispered in her ear and she immediately went to see him. Lyndy got her dad's attention and he followed his wife. Addie, Maddie Lyndy and Wyatt stayed with the party looking over their shoulder from time to time. Jack also noticed what had happened and discretely called the four of them over and smiled saying, "He will be fine, enjoy the party. He will be mad if you don't"
Annie laid her brother on his bed and after kissing his forehead, got a damp cloth and some water. Ty and Amy came in shortly after as Amy went to lay next to him. She looked at him feeling his head and chest. He seemed fine just a little disoriented. He smiled weakly and whispered, "I guess I had a little too much ice cream." Amy smiled and tearily whispered, "Maybe honey, how are you feeling?" Ty had joined them on the other side of the bed as Annie sat on the end. JT looked a little dazed before he responded. "I feel tired, what happened to me." She smiled, "Well Annie and Addie noticed you seemed a little out of it so they came to see if you were ok." He smiled, "Thanks Annie, but how did I get in bed." The three of them realized immediately that he had had a significant episode but remained upbeat. Ty chuckled, "Yea your sisters may be a little weird at times but they are pretty cool for sure." JT smiled and slowly said, "I love them and Wyatt." Amy kept her eyes on him as it seemed he needed to close his eyes and rest. As the doctor had said she continued to talk to him and it seemed he was more and more coherent. She spoke softly, "You want to lay down for a bit, I will stay with you." He smiled again as his eyes seemed a little more focused. "Yea I want to, Mommy, I am sorry." As his eyes closed the three of them teared up hearing his words, realizing that he was genuine in his comments. She pulled him in and whispered holding back her sobs, "Baby boy you have nothing to be sorry about, we love you." She got no response just slow calm breathing." Amy looked at Annie mouthed thank you as Ty kissed her cheek, "We will leave you be." They turned down the light and closed the door as Amy held him in her arms. Ty hugged Annie, "You are amazing girl. Let your sisters and Wyatt know what is going on quietly and I will talk to Jack, Lou and Lisa." As they split up she smiled and said, "Daddy, I love you." They went their separate ways as the party was still in full swing. After their discreet conversations they joined in on the fun. Wyatt and the girls bravely continued but their hearts and minds were with JT. Clay had set up some music and the kids were dancing on the deck and the rest were huddled in small groups enjoying themselves. A few muffled conversations were being held about JT but the group was still having a lot of fun. About a half hour later Amy and JT came down the steps. He seemed to be Ok and ran over to his GG and jumped on his lap leaning into his broad chest. He whispered, "I'm sorry GG." Jack picked him up and walked out to the porch sitting on one of the benches. He looked into the little man's eyes and spoke clearly, "Remember when you mommy was sick and I had a little health scare. And remember how everyone was there for Grandma Lilly when she found out she had cancer." JT smiled shaking his head. "Well what we do is be there for family who needs us. Your mom, Lilly, and I needed all of you and you all came through. JT we are hear for you and you have nothing to be sorry about. Everyone here loves you and will always be here for you." JT smiled and hugged him tightly.
The next morning everyone had orders to sleep in as the party went a little later than expected. Throughout the night the four Borden girls went to check on JT often taking turns. Amy was completely exhausted and fell asleep in her husband's arms in minutes. As the sun rose Ty opened his eyes to see the most beautiful woman in the world next to him. Last night had been hard for her so he was content just holding her as she slept. Feeling a set of green eyes on her she moved slightly and opened her eyes. "Good morning, why are you staring at me." He chuckled, "Because you are beautiful. And I was just making sure you slept longer, I know last night was hard." She snuggled into him, "It was for both of us. I am so proud of the kids, especially our brave little boy. I guess last night made me realize what we are up against and how much I love them all." Looking at him she added, "And how much I love you." As she leaned in to kiss his lips she realized that Ty Borden was her safe place where she could go to for comfort and love. At that moment she needed him to love her. Her kiss intensified as he learned back to look at her. Amy aren't you tired, we don't have to…" She interrupted him and looked at him with lust. "Ty I need you right now, I need you to make love to me, I need to feel all of you." She rolled over him and continued to lavish him with kisses and touches. She immediately removed his boxers and while straddling him removed her t-shirt as well. He was a bit overwhelmed with her aggressiveness but was loving it. He relinquished all control as she started at his lips and moved down his body. After attacking his neck and ear lobes she went to his solid chest, nipping and sucking in the right places. Ty chuckled breathlessly, "Don't leave a mark." She looked at him with fire in her eyes, "I'll make sure they won't be seen." She continued to move lower to his manhood and began to caress it with her lips and hand. Ty's hips jerked slightly as the sensation was overwhelming. He moved his hands through her hair as she spent he time pleasing him completely. Her tongue was magical as she moved around her favorite place, up and down until she engulfed him. He jerked again and moaned her name. She knew he was close so she retreated back to his lips allowing him to begin his kissing and touching. He rolled her over and she opened up for him letting him have his way. He kissed her inner thighs and moved to the area of her body he loved the most. He moved over it with his tongue and used his fingers to stimulate her even more. She screamed his name, maybe a little louder than they should have but didn't care. When she reached orgasm he kissed his way up her stomach to her breast enjoying the taste and softness. He moved his lips to her perky nipples and sucked on them bring another moan and orgasm from his love. In one motion he moved to her lips and entered her smoothly. He moved in and out as she matched his rhythm. They broke their kiss only to catch their breath and whisper to each other of their love. His thrust increased as they both came to a resounding and fulfilling orgasm. She felt him empty into her and fulfill the need she was seeking. They continued until they were both completely satisfied and moved to be in each other's arms. As they caught their breath she whispered, "Ty, you are amazing." He smiled and whispered, "Well you aren't too bad yourself there Mrs. Borden." The laughed and hugged each other tightly, ignoring their sweaty bodies. She whispered, "Let's shower and go see our kids, we have a truck to buy and that surprise for Wyatt."
Even after their morning tryst they came down to an empty kitchen. Amy heard a noise from the lounge and went to see JT sitting peacefully looking through a fishing magazine. He smiled up at her and went for a hug. "Good morning mommy, I was wondering if anyone was going to wake up this morning?" She snuggled next to him enjoying the opportunity to be alone with him. Ty came in and looked over their shoulders kissing them both on the head, "Hey buddy, trouble sleeping?" JT laughed, "No I slept really well, I guess the little nap I took helped too." He turned to look at them both. "I am sorry and I know I am not supposed to be but I still feel bad. I knew something was wrong but waited too long. I should have come to one of you guys sooner when I felt it coming." Amy smiled, "So you kind of know when you are going to have an episode?" He thought for a moment, "I don't know why but it's like a feeling I get inside of me that is telling me. It's hard to explain. Do you think that it's grandma and great grandma sending me a message?" Ty and Amy sat for a moment to comprehend what he had said. His connection was a certainty to them and as always he seemed so calm and confident when he spoke. Ty came over to join them on the couch and answered him, "Well I think mom and I would agree with you. I would hope that they are always looking out for us." Amy added, "Honey we don't have your connection but I do know we have both felt them before. I fell off Spartan when I was younger when a bear spooked us. I was knocked out but woke up when a little girl on a pony came to help me. After your dad came and saved me, that night I described the little girl and pony to GG. He got up and found an old photo album. He showed me a picture of my mom when she was about 10. She had long blonde ponytails, a brown jacket and was on her favorite pony Kindling. I was shocked because it was the girl in my dream. I realized that my mom saved me and took me to your dad." He smiled and nestled into me. After a few quiet moments he spoke, "Sometimes the three of us just talk about stuff and I remember her telling me that story." Amy and Ty sat there with there with their amazing son realizing that with time and the families support he would get past this. They sat until the silence was broken as the rest of the kids came sauntering down the steps. Lyndy proclaimed, "Let's get breakfast done, we have a truck to buy!" JT rolled his eyes whispering to his parents, "It's gonna be a long day."
Breakfast was active talking about Wyatt's achievement, the party and school. Ty got everyone's attention, "Ok, Wyatt, here is the deal. We have an appointment at the truck dealer at 1:00pm. A good friend of Caleb's will have some trucks for you to see." Wyatt smiled and asked a little concerned, "I hope the money my grandma gave me will be enough." Amy smiled, "Well here is another gift for you. We will see what is there and if it is more than you have, we will make up the difference along with Jack, Lisa, Max, Lilly, Tim and Casey. We want you to find a good truck since you will be hauling our daughter, well all of these guys around." Wyatt sat quietly, "You really don't have to do that, I have a little money saved." Ty responded quickly chuckling, "Well you will need that so you can take our daughter out on fancy dates. So there is no argument, we all want to do this for you." He smiled quietly as Lyndy grabbed his hand under the table. Ty's phone went off and he stepped away to answer it. He came back in, "I gotta go Amy, one of the client horses collicked and Steven and I have to do an emergency surgery. Wyatt we will leave right after lunch so whomever is going be ready to go." Amy got up and hugged him telling him she would be out to see him soon. The kids cleaned up, went to do their chores and kept busy. The kids were taking care of the horses abuzz talking about Wyatt and his new truck. JT, had a very clear belief that it should be either Black or Blue. Annie hoped the interior was comfortable. Addie was insistent that the bed be big enough to haul things like motorcycles or ATVs. Maddie made sure she needed a hitch so he could pull a horse trailer. Lyndy was torn and would like a front seat that didn't have a console but she realized that might be tough. Annie laughed, "Lyndy first you shouldn't sit to close to him because he needs to concentrate, but if there is a need to snuggle just use Old Blue. I have seen mom and dad sit really close when they use it." The girls all laughed as JT just looked at Wyatt rolling his eyes like they were all weird. Caleb and Clay made sure he would get a truck that could be used for ranch work and still look good for dates and stuff. Since the kids had some time they decided to go out for a quick ride, even thought it was a little chilly. JT decided to go hang with Rusty and Caleb rather than go out in the cold. He was still a little leery of going out on adventures as last night was still on his mind. As promised, Amy went to see how Ty and Steven were doing and took the time to update the client. Seems the horse had previous colic issues and they were relieved that it was caught in time. Amy came into the operating room masked up as Ty spoke up, "Hey Ames, things are going well, we should be done in a half hour. We will get her up and moving this afternoon but it looks like she will be Ok." She smiled under the masked and touched his arm, "Thanks Ty, I will call the owner." Steven laughed, "Ahh the Bordens, so in love." Amy poked his side, "Whatever hubby wubby, Georgie tells me you are quite the marshmallow too" The laughed and she headed back to the office.
Right after lunch the Borden clan piled into the big SUV to get Wyatt's truck. On the way Ty told Wyatt about some of the options he would be looking at and then spoke to him clearly, "Wyatt, Caleb's friend Buck will not talk money. When you make a decision you and I will talk in private with him." Looking at the other kids, "And I mean private you guys." They huffed a little but carried on with their conversations. As they pulled into the lot, Buck came to meet them, "Hi Ty and Amy and the whole crew, it is good to see you." Shaking Wyatt's hand, "And this must be the young truck buyer, Wyatt right?" Wyatt smiled as Lyndy held onto his arm. Buck smiled at the large group and spoke up, "Well everyone I have three trucks for you to look at. The family walked to the side lot getting the attention of the staff and other shoppers. Buck laughed, "You all seem to be getting a lot of lookers, we don't always have the entire family her to buy a truck." Ty laughed, "You don't know the half of it." They walked up on three trucks, one was black, one a dark blue and one dark green. All three were a few years old and the last one had pretty low miles. The engines were similar and were more than able to pull a 2 or 4 horse trailer. Buck knew what they needed and made sure they had options. The black and dark blue ones were diesel. The company had its own gas tanks for all of the vehicles used on the ranches and famliy vehicles. It was easier and cheaper to get gas deliveries than having to drive to the nearest station. They all looked over the trucks with their own requirements in mind. Lyndy stayed near her mom and Ty was with Wyatt. Ty was a good mechanic and understood the engine and towing capabilities. Lyndy whispered to Amy, "I like the green one. It is beautiful." Amy agreed but she also liked the blue one of course. Each kid liked the one that met the needs they had but as Wyatt and Ty walked around them it seemed clear he was leaning to the green one, much to Lyndy's delight. Ty, Wyatt and Buck got into a conversations as Ty asked some specific questions. Wyatt listened intently as he respected his opinion and knowledge. Wyatt glanced at the sticker and his eyes opened wide. Ty immediately took his arm, smiled and spoke to him quietly, "First that will not be what we pay and second I told you not to look." Wyatt blushed and quietly thanked him. He had made his decision and happily told everyone seeing JT smiled in agreement. Lyndy hugged him, "That was my favorite." The others were Ok understanding it was his decision. Ty and Wyatt went into the office with Buck as the kids looked over the vehicle in more detail. Maddie spoke up, "I actually like it, I think it was the best choice." Annie and Addie agreed as JT sat in the back smiling and dreaming of his first ride. After a little while a smiling Wyatt walked out with Ty holding a set of keys. JT jumped into his arms and the girls hugged him and told him it was an awesome truck. Amy leaned into Ty, "So how did it work out?" He smiled, "It is a great truck for the money, but having support for the group of us did help. Wyatt was in tears as we discussed the cost and how we would all be helping him." She smiled watching the kids ooh and ahh over the truck, "Just think, only 5 more to go."
Since JT wanted to drive back with him, Amy joined Lyndy the two men to the ride back. The other girls rode with Ty joking with Lyndy and their mom about being careful. Wyatt drove very carefully following Ty to the ranch. As he pulled up, Caleb, Clay, Katie and Rusty ran out to meet them. After he parked and got out several of the staff members came out to look over the new truck. Wyatt had Lyndy in his arms as he smiled and took handshakes from the men and a few hugs form the girls. After the crowd gathered, Ty spoke up, "Hey everybody it just a truck, let's get back to work." Amy smacked his arm telling him to chill. Everyone laughed and eventually got back to what they were doing. As the crowd dispersed, Lyndy and Wyatt sat on the porch dinking some coffee continuing to gawk at his new truck. Amy and Ty came over from the office and joined them as Lyndy got them a cup as well. Ty spoke up, "So Wyatt your first truck, how does it feel?" He smiled, "Well it feels good and today more than once I thought about my grandma and how she helped me." Also I am so humbled that all of you helped as well. I have never had a family like this that cares for me so much." As a tear came to his eye he clutched Lyndy's hand tightly and Amy assured him, "Wyatt you are a part of this family and Ty, me and the rest of the family love you. It's the least we can do." He got up and hugged both Ty and Amy tightly. Then Lyndy spoke up. "Well I know we wanted to maybe take the truck out to get lunch tomorrow but Wyatt and I want to treat you and dad to lunch tomorrow at Maggie's. And Wyatt will drive." Ty smiled and Amy leaned into him with misty eyes. She was finally able to answer, "That would be amazing." The four of them laughed and talked about the day. JT and the girls were heading back from the barn and joined them. The Borden family had a great day, one that would be talked about for years to come. As they laughed and chatted, JT spoke up, "Hey are we gonna eat soon, this truck buying is tough, I am hungry." They all laughed and tickled him as they went into the house to get dinner ready. As he headed in Wyatt looked back at his beautiful truck and looked up. "Thanks grandma." Lyndy kissed his cheek as they walked into the house for dinner.
