Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Seven

The Hack, Unexpected Visitor

A/N – Hopefully although I covered a lot in the last chapter it flowed well for you. When I thought up the title as I wrote I realized the "Groove" for this bunch is not so typical. I am kind of excited to continue the development of the Lyndy/Wyatt relationship and now should have some fun with Mallory and Doug. Another note on the story, although of course this is the story of Amy and Ty and their legacy I continually refer familiar storylines, like the reference to the McSlade Farm. This chapter will be a little switch from the norm. The hack idea came from a reviewer and I appreciate it. I am a technical kind of person so I am going to spend the next chapter talking about a real life issue many large companies are having. Actually the school district we are in was hacked and all of the employees had to have their computers completely scrubbed and in many cases replaced. So we shall see how the story evolves and I apologize for my geekiness ahead of time. And wait till you see where it goes along with the visitor. Once past this I will spend a few chapters talking through Spring Break as it seems the Bordens are going in all different directions. Please, please please, don't stop letting me know what you think and I would love to hear from others. Enjoy!

Everyone was anxious as they sat in the meeting room at the Miracle Ranch. Including the Board, Nick, Mallory, Jenn and Ben Stillman as well as Katie and Clay were there. Ellie and Mandy were holding down the fort at bots Hudson veterinary locations and since they were at the ranch, any issues could hold off until they came back. Rusty and a couple of the ranch hands would be keeping an eye on things. As they waited Lisa and Nick returned from the police station. They had met two officers with two of the staff from the University of Calgary IT team to go over what they had found and they were in attendance too. Lisa settled the group as Nick set up his laptop on the projector and zoomed in Max. He also made sure everyone had their tablets as requested. Lisa began to speak with Lou alongside of her. "Hey everybody, shoot I didn't realize we may need drinks or snacks, I hope everyone had lunch?" They all smiled saying they were good so she began. "Well thanks for coming on such short notice. Everyone knows Nick but I also want to introduce Dr. Alissa Welsh and Robert Crenshaw from the University IT department. We have just met with them and they offered to come with us to this meeting. To get to the point, there was an attempted breech of our system. Now I'll let Nick go into more detail but it was an organized attempt to access our system specifically our financials, client , training and medical files. Basically someone wanted to know all about our business and basically steal all of the amazing things you all have done. So, this is extremely serious and we have involved the Digital Crimes division of the RCMP as well." She took a breath as two officers entered the room as well, excusing themselves for being late. The group looked on a little overwhelmed and confused. As Ty and Caleb got chairs for the new visitors the group chatted quietly among themselves. Lisa needed a drink of water. The look on her face made the group even more uneasy as the normally stoic Chairman of the Board seemed a little rattled. She continued acknowledging the two newest members of the meeting. "Well I would like to also introduce Officers Williams and Stark from the Cyber System department of the RCMP based in Calgary. Our friends from the U of C encouraged us to invite them to our meeting as well and they graciously accepted our invitation. The size of our organization has warranted their full attention on this matter and they will work with us as we continue to determine how this happened and who did it." The officers acknowledged her appreciation as the group waited anxiously for the details of what had happened.

Back at the ranch and other parts of the business the news was spreading quickly. Although not to detailed, those few who had tablets knew something was up. After an email from Nick, the system was disabled temporarily and everyone was asked to make notes that they could enter once them in the system once it was restored. Rusty was working with a horse as a couple of ranch hands looked on. One called out, "Hey Rusty what is going on, where is everyone. And why can't we not use the tablets, this writing down stuff is a pain." Rusty huffed, "Give it a rest guys, they system will be back up and you know not too long ago all we did was write stuff down." They all laughed at his authoritative tone but no one questioned it. He looked at him sternly, "Well Smitty, I am in charge until everyone gets back so I think you should go and muck out the barn with client horses." He huffed as the rest of them laughed. At the new vet clinic, Ellie and Mandy were catching up. Ellie spoke quietly, "I hope everything is alright, Nick has been spending a lot of time trying to figure this out. Last night while we laid in bed he told me that this was a big deal and that the RCMP was involved. He was nervous but did feel he had caught it in time." Mandy smiled, "My mom's school district was hacked a while back and it was a mess. They basically had to pay a ransom to get their system back. Ellie, Nick is a smart guy, I am sure it will all be good." Chuckling, she continued, "We better get back to work, I bet when everyone gets back they will be wound up for sure." They hugged as they parted ways. Their friendship had grown over the time they were together and it was nice to have such a good coworker. Back at the meeting Lisa continued, "Well now that everyone knows of our visitors I am going to turn over the meeting to Nick Fisher, who I am sure most everyone knows. But for those who don't, Nick is Dr. Ellie's husband and our IT guy. He helped in setting up the tablets and our system. He has been vital in the creation and maintenance of it as well as all safeguards. And just to clarify, we are extremely happy to have him on our team. Nick it's all yours." Since they were in the loop already, as he walked up Amy leaned into Ty, "I hope everything is Ok, I can't imagine telling our clients about this." Ty smiled and kissed her cheek speaking up, "Before Nick starts Amy and I have a question. We don't know the outcome but if all is well will we still notify our clients?" Lou stepped in, "Great question, first of all we feel pretty good about where we are and yes we will. The cybercrime unit encourages us to and also we will have a press release. We can expect questions from the clients and the press so we will prepare some answers for you regarding everything. But for now, until everything has been completed this is extremely confidential." One of the officers got Lou's attention, "Pardon me Mrs. Cardinal, but we want to stress this point. We will join Nick shortly but we want to catch who did this so confidentially is paramount. If they find out we may never find the group or person responsible." Lou smiled, "Thanks officer, Nick the podium is yours." A nervous Nick Fisher walked up and cleared his throat. Caleb laughed and called out, Don't worry Nick we are all family here."

"Good afternoon everyone. As you all know by now there was an intentional attempt to hack our system to access the company's information. I believe the attempt started several weeks ago as some of you began seeing unusual pop ups showing up on your screens. Now the majority of pop ups are harmless, just an attempt to advertise a product or sell you something. Clay notified me a few weeks back that he was seeing something that looked unusual so I put a tracer program on his specific tablet to see what he was seeing. Within 24 hours I saw some things that alarmed me so I called our friends here from the University and we put some patches and firewalls in place with Lou and Lisa's permission as there was a cost." Lou interrupted, "A friend of mine that still works in New York and I were talking and she mentioned that her agency had been hacked. The hacker attempted to get access to a lot of personal customer information before they could act, so once I heard of this was easy decision to take action. Sorry Nick to interrupt." He smiled, "No Lou thanks. So to continue, along with our University colleagues, we monitored the system and the intrusions continued. That's when we made the decision to contact the RCMP National Cybercrime Coordination Centre, where two investigators were assigned to our case. And we thank them for being here. Although we are a relatively smaller company we still have files on a couple of thousand clients and a data base of treatments and surgeries for all of them. Although our tablets are new as you recall we have downloaded all information from past years of work which we believe helps us greatly improve our service and efficiency." He took s breath as one of the officer's spoke up, "To clarify the odd part of this hack was what they attempted to look at was specific client information, horse training process and surgical procedures. The latter two are what you mostly share somewhat already but the client information of course is privileged and confidential." He hesitated as the other officer took over, "So we decided to take aggressive action. With Lou and Lisa's permission, we worked with Nick to allow them access to irrelevant information we added to the system behind the scenes. Our hope was they would take the bait allowing us to find them. Usually these criminals are very good at hiding their tracks and virtually impossible to find." After a hesitation, Jack spoke up. "Just to let everyone know Max and I are in the loop as well but to be honest this is well beyond my ability. But I will ask the question, did it work?" The room sat hushed as they waited for the answer. Lisa cleared her throat and took over.

She smiled at her husband, "Good question you old cowboy." Everyone laughed as she kissed his cheek. "Besides as mentioned already, Jack, Lou, Scott, Amy, Ty and Max have also been involved behind the scenes. Amy, Ty and Scott provided us some fake client information, training practices, including herbal remedies and surgical procedures. The hope was to use this to expose the culprits. And of course Max has made sure we stayed within legal boundaries" Nick stepped in as Lisa looked his way. "And we are happy to say they took the bait. We have narrowed the location to somewhere in Florida. I can't be more specific yet but it is in the Tampa Bay area." One of the officers continued. "We expect that once we see the information shared as we expect it will be, we will confirm the hacker and the company that was stolen it for their use. We have an entire system in place with fake clients and one of them was contacted yesterday." Lisa stepped in, "The reason we are meeting with everyone today is because we have a good idea who it is and felt it was time to let everyone here know. But, and this is important, it is paramount that this stays with us only until we release a press statement and charges are filed. We expect that to happen within a couple of weeks. Now I will leave it to you as I know there are some people that need to know, especially the people with tablets." Nick jumped in, I will be going around to everyone and adding some patches to not only expel the virus but put more safeguards in place. There may be questions, but I am putting it as regular maintenance so you will need to deal with them." Everyone agreed as they sat quietly talking amongst themselves. Steven asked a question, "How much damage has been done?" Lisa looked at Nick. He smiled and spoke, "We believe we were minimally impacted because thanks to our friends at the University they had helped in the setup and we already had some safeguards in place. These gave the impression that the intruders were successful in gaining access but really could only go so far. When I noticed the attempt, I called the authorities and we went into action. There have been other attempts, it's kind of the norm, but we felt this one was serious enough to pull some others into the loop. Sorry that might be more detail that you may want Steven but I want to provide all of you the entire picture. There was an intrusion, we took the steps needed, got some of the group here and authorities involved in the issue and now, hopefully, will find out who did this. And we will be installing additional safeguards moving forward." The group sat silent trying to absorb everything they had just heard. Georgie confidential spoke up, "So what's next and I can't wait to bury these bastards." The group chuckled in relief at her the aggressive tone as Steven put his arm on her shoulder, "Calm down mommy."

They finished up the meeting with a few more questions and a lot more direction about how to handle inquiries from staff. A promise was made to meet again when the perpetrator was discovered. Amy and Ty walked back to office hand in hand chatting quietly. Caleb came back behind them, "Geez you two calm down. I mean you two are in the loop, especially your covert operation." Ty laughed, "It wasn't that big of a deal. But I have to admit, it was a little scary for a bit. Nick has been amazing as well as the folks from the University." Caleb smiled, "Yea he is a good dude, I hope we pay him a lot!" They settled in to the rest of their afternoon and then went home to wait for the kids. They felt a need to talk to them but were trying to figure out how to tell them. They were all very inquisitive and figured they would find out. Amy sighed, "We have to tell them something Ty. I would rather have them hear from us first." She leaned into him as he kissed her forehead and whispered, "I love you Ty Borden." Those words brought a little ease to both of them. Being involved with this thing from the beginning had been stressful. Ty smiled, "I can't wait for our trip to Pike River over Spring Break." She laughed, "You know I can't either and even though we have an empty house there is something about our cabin that I am excited about." Well our trips have been for a mix of different reasons but I definitely think you may get some lovin out of this one." She blushed, "I am counting on it mister." As they snuggled, the twins were the first to arrive. Annie and Addie noticed right away that their parents seemed to have something on their mind. They avoided to many questions as they figured they would hear later and just settled for hugs as they scampered over to the barn. Next came Maddie, JT, Trent and some other kids that went to the Day Care. JT ran to his parents, gave them a big hug and kiss and headed with Trent to the Day Care. Finally Wyatt and Lyndy pulled up. Today was a day that he had to get her from Goddard so they were later. As they approached the porch, immediately an alarm went off for Lyndy. She whispered to Wyatt, "Something is up with them. You think it's about that tablet thing we heard Clay talking about?" He smiled, "Well if it is they will tell us when they need to." She immediately walked to her mom and gave her a well-received hug. Ty put his hand on Wyatt's shoulder and asked them to have a seat. It seemed that whatever was on their mind would soon be disclosed. Amy spoke first, "I can see you guys know something is up as we have been a bit distracted lately. And I expect you may kind of know that something has happened without tablet system. Someone try to hack into our client, training protocol and medical information. Now the good thing is that they weren't 100% successful and everything is safe. And we are close to finding out who it was so if we have to step away or go to an urgent meeting we need you guys to make sure the rest of the kids stay quiet. We plan to let you all know at dinner tonight." Lyndy smiled chuckling, "We will handle Maddie, don't worry." They headed in and as the kids had their study session, Ty and Amy got dinner ready. As they watched the kids discuss their days and upcoming trips. Amy and Ty listened and smiled as each of them talked realizing that they were all individuals but still so much a family. Amy clutched Ty's hand under the table taking a peek into his eyes lovingly.

Amy spoke up, "So are you all Ok with not having a family trip over the break, I mean when we are all here we can go on a few trail rides and even do an overnight at the cabin." Addie laughed, "I still can't believe we are going to England with Soraya, Camilla and Caroline." Lyndy squawked, "I know how lucky are you three. Getting to spend time in another country" Maddie spoke up quickly, "We have a lot of work to do so it won't be all fun and games. You three get to go to the cabin and fish all weekend with GG and Grandpa." JT popped in, "I know it is going to be a blast. Wyatt now I have to warn you, we are fishing so you two need to focus on that not each other all the time." Lyndy tickled him and smiled at her mom, "Well I can't resist a kiss now and then. You know that fishing cabin is a special place for us Borden girls, right mom." Annnie spoke up, "Oh yea, the first I love yous. And just think there have been like a million more since then." Amy smiled blushing a little as she remembered that magical moment, "And I am sure there will be a million more." She leaned into Ty and kissed his cheek." The kids smiled as their parents showed their love for each other. JT looked up and spoke, "Heck Lyndy, you are going on another trip too when you go to Colorado, you get two trips!" Ty took over, "Well yes but it is for the competition that she worked hard for. I don't think there is anyone at this table who is not going to have fun over the break." Annie smiled blushing, "Yes and you two are heading somewhere to I here. Pike River for the weekend we are gone, nice." Amy looked at her, "How did you find out about that." Addie continued, "Mom and dad, when are you going to learn, never tell Caleb anything." They all laughed and continued with dinner. As the table was cleared Amy and Ty decided to let the kids have some ice cream for desert. As the enjoyed the treat, Amy cleared her throat. Guys, we have to tell you something. Immediately spoons dropped and all eyes were on her. She smiled, "Its ok everyone is fine but we had something happen with our business. It seems someone tried to tap into our system through our tablets. Basically they were trying to steal some of our private client information for some reason.. The room was quiet when JT spoke up, "You mean someone hacked us?" Ty and Amy looked at their little boy amazed that he understood that. He frowned, "Geez mom I'm not a kid, I know about that kind of stuff. One of the kids at school was saying that someone got in to his dad's work computers and really messed things up. He had to work a lot nights and weekends to fix everything." Ty smiled, "Well we are not in that bad of shape because Nick, Dr. Ellie's husband caught it before it got too bad. Mom and I have been working with him, come people from the university and the police to figure out who it was." Addie smiled, "Like covert stuff, cool mom and dad." Amy laughed, well not necessarily cool but it did help and we think we may be just about to find out who did it. And our private information is safe." They sat quietly for a second as JT continued, "Oh so that is why we got ice cream, you guys were making sure we were Ok." Everyone laughed as Ty added, "But this is important, you can't talk to anyone about this until we say. The company will put out a press release when we find them so until that, tight lips." Everyone looked at Maddie as she said defensively, "I can keep quiet, anyway I figure that anybody I would tell knows already." Again they laughed and finished their ice cream.

The rest of the night went well and the next morning the family had a lively breakfast. Talk continued about everyone's upcoming trips. JT fill everyone in on Granma Lilly was doing well and hoped that everyone could call her tonight. "Lyndy, she really wants to come to your competition and is working hard to be there." Lyndy smiled and hugged her little brother, "Thanks buddy, I bet you have really helped her and I know she loves you a lot." JT smiled, "She told me that she loves all of us and is fighting so she can be here as long as she can." Amy looked down and swallowed hard. She realized for the first time that her little boy understood that Lilly may pass away. Before either Ty or her could respond he continued, "Mom and Dad, I know that Grandma Lilly may not survive her cancer. Grandma Marion just told me to be there and encourage her to continue to fight. GG Lyndy told me that if it wasn't for you and Aunt Lou she would not have hung around as long as she did. She said you guys were always there for her and she really loved you." All of the girls began to tear up as their calm and confident little brother spoke. Since Ty was also unable to speak, Wyatt responded. "Hey pal, when did you talk to them?" He smiled, "Most of the time when I talk to them when I sleep but lately, when I am just sitting still I kind of hear them in my thoughts. Don't worry guys I am Ok, but it is nice to hear from them." Ty smiled and pulled him into his lap. He looked at Amy and both were thinking a call to the medical team would be needed later. Lyndy also smiled silently acknowledging that the kids would all keep an eye out as well. Conversation went back to school topics and the kids went to get ready for school. Ty and Amy silently cleaned up and when finished she folded herself into his arms. Breathlessly she spoke, "That was more than overwhelming, he is so amazing. I will call the doctor when we get to the office. How are you?" After a deep kiss he smiled into her lips, "Well after that I am great but I agree. I think we should call my mom today as well." They helped the kids pack their lunches and saw them off for their day. As they walked silently over to the office the held hands and leaned into each other. Each of them knew that they were there for each other and that their kids, including Wyatt were pretty amazing. They went to start their day content and more in love than ever.

At school, the kids were all very busy as Spring Break was close and a lot of things were being wrapped up. The twins, the Walsh girls were being badgered with questions about their trip to England. They were at lunch with Desi, Jeremy, Bella, Maya and Camilla and as usual the conversations between the five girls was lively. Bella blurted out, "Man you three are so lucky, going to England to almost a week. Maya and I are going to some stupid camp and maybe to the mountains to camp. What are you going to be doing there?" Camilla smiled, "Well to be honest we have some boring things to do. We will have to see my dad's family, go through some things that we may need to send back but will see some friends. I can't wait to show these two some of the sites and meet some of my old friends. I have only been here for a short while but it seems like forever." Maya asked, "Do you miss it?" She smiled, "A little but I love Canada and especially you guys. But mostly I know my mom wanted to come home. If it wasn't for my grandma being so sick I think we would have come back earlier." Annie leaned over to hug here, "Well we are glad you are here." Maddie and Caroline were also getting a lot of questions about their trip. Gwen and Sylvia were going to miss them and didn't know anything about England. So the teaching team took some time one afternoon to have Carloine talk about her home country so all the kids understood its history and strong link to Canada. Maddie was overwhelmed when Caroline took the time with Gwen and Sylvia to make sure they understood everything. She marveled at how she was with them and how attentive she was to their needs. She whispered to the teacher, "Look at how she is with those two. She need to be a teacher for sure." The teacher smiled and made a note to call Soraya and tell her how wonderful her daughter was. JT, Trent and Brey Stillman were working on a project together. He couldn't help but notice that one of the teachers was spending much more time with them than the others and that the nurse had dropped by to talk to the teachers before class. After a few minutes he called the teacher off to the side, "My mom called didn't she?" The teacher blushed a little and shook her head yes. "Well thanks for checking in on me but I am fine, no problems. The rest of the kids are going to think I am a favorite or something." She whispered in his ear, "You are!" Lyndy was getting excited about her trip and especially that her grandma might be able to come to the competition. But more exciting for her was spending almost two weeks with Wyatt both on the mini fishing trip and at the ranch while some of her siblings wound be gone. They were huddled up at lunch and she whispered, "I can't wait for spring break and being with you all the time. We need to go on a couple of dates, work with horses and just be together." He smiled, "Me too, especially the dates. The other stuff is cool but the dates, they are the best." She blushed and kissed his cheek, receiving hoots and hollers from their friends. They both were excited to have a lot of fun over the next few weeks but secretly more excited about being alone.

The time leading up to Spring Break were extremely busy for Amy and Ty as well. Katie's involvement was being tapered down a bit and Georgie still seemed a little off but was holding her own. Amy was handling the most challenging horses and those clients that asked specifically. The rest of the younger trainers were really stepping it up and gaining valuable experience. Amy, Georgie and Katie oversaw specific trainers and spent their time observing them and providing guidance as needed. Katie as always, kept an eye on Lyndy and Wyatt, and Amy had decided to look over Rusty and Haley. Georgie had been spending time with Annie and a couple of other promising ranch hands including Camille who has shown some interest in learning the trade. Each of the younger trainers in training were given horses they could handle or worked with one of the three of them together on more challenging horses. With the workload and pending time off for the two new mommies there was a need to bring some people up to speed. And as planned, Victor's daughter, Ellory, was coming over the break to help out and was already committed to the summer. Ty and the vet team continued to flex where the need was. With the increase in horse clients, Ty and Steven spent almost all their time at the equine center and Cass was there as well a lot of the time. Scott and Mandy managed the cattle center and of course Ellie had the clinic. They added two more students for clinical work so they used them where they were needed unless they had an area they wanted to spend more time at. Although all the vets were involved in surgeries, Scott and Ty still took on the more challenging ones. Amy, Ty, Cass and Scott decided to have this semesters lecture focus on surgical practices. With the added stress on the training team they opted this route although Amy still planned to attend to see if there were any training related questions. She planned to have Haley with her since she would be attending anyway. Even with all activity, Amy and Ty made sure they touched base often throughout the day either in the clinic or in the office. They committed to have lunch in the office together every day. With the hacking issue close to resolution they continued to get updates from Nick and Lisa. It seemed they were very close to finding the suspect and warrants were being drawn up. The details were still being controlled in confidence but Lisa promised the small group that when it was appropriate they would get them all the information including the press releases. Lisa also sent a private note to Lou, Scott, Amy and Ty that there would be possible interviews with the media. But Lilly and JT's proclamation was still their main area of focus. Of course they called school and the medical team to alert them to his powerful interaction with the two matriarchs of the family, specifically detailing his comments. The medical team asked to continue to be updated but felt there was no need to see him before his next scheduled visit. They also mentioned that there had been interest from other hospitals that wanted to interview him but that would be completely up to them. They said they would talk to him about it. The teaching team said they would watch him closely, hopefully without him knowing it. They knew that might be tough. Amy had finally organized all the spring break trips and they were both excited about their trip to Pike River. As they were looking the schedule over at lunch one day Ty spoke up, "I am really looking forward to our weekend, hope the chimney flue doesn't mess up again." Amy chuckled, "And thank god we won't be sleeping on the floor with Grandpa and my dad between us." They were looking forward to the break, especially for the kids.

It was the last day of school and the kids were excited for their upcoming break and the fact that they only had a half day. Ty and Amy let Wyatt take the big SUV and deliver and pick up all the kids. They were planning to meet them all at Maggie's for lunch and Lou had a table ready for them. As they were eating, Amy got a text from Lisa telling her that they were all going to meet at Fairfield in an hour. The Board only would attend and they only need less than an hour. Although distracted, Amy and Ty continued to enjoy lunch with their excited group of kids. As they left Amy pulled Lyndy aside and told her they would be back a little later. Lyndy smiled, "I understand why mom, Wyatt and I have this." Amy smiled with love hugging her first born daughter, who from her perspective was beyond amazing. The kids headed back to the ranch and Amy and Ty drove to Fairfield in Old Blue. They sat close quietly as they pulled up to the estate. Caleb, Cass, Steven and Georgie pulled in when they did and after some greetings they headed in met by Lisa at the door. As they walked into the meeting room everyone was there including Nick and the two RCMP officers. Max as usual was on Zoom along with Lilly who really looked good. As they settled they all greeted Lilly and noticed Amy noticed an open chair left empty between Lisa and Lou but discounted it as an extra. Lisa called the meeting to order, "Thanks everyone, I know we have been keeping some of you updated regularly but as we promised, when needed, we would call everyone together. Per some direction from the authorities, we decided to limit this meeting to the Board along with Nick and the RCMP officers handling this case. First Nick will go over some details about the hack." Nick smiled and pulled up information on the screen. "So here are the exact files that were attempted to be accessed. As you see most of them are client information files but there also some files from Amy and Georgie as well as some documented surgical procedures. From our perspective it seems the client files were the main focus but the hacker did move into the other areas but we expect decided not to get to deep into them. And to be honest, most of the horse training and surgical information is already readily available for anyone to access with a simple request. I spoke to Ty, Amy, Scott and Georgie and they receive request all the time and for the most part are always willing to share. Luckily, it seems we adverted any substantial breech except for the files that we created as bait to capture the culprits." He hesitated, "That is really all I have so unless there are questions I will pass it back to you Lisa." As Lisa stood, one of the RCMP officers joined her. Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting to hear who had done this.

Well we are happy to let everyone know we have found the group who did this and as we speak arrest warrants are being served. It is in the U.S. so we have already obtained extradition rights to have the trial in Canada. I am going to turn this over to my partner here for the details but first we have another guest today. Nick opened the door and led in a person that most people in the room knew. Caleb turned white as he saw Ashley Stanton enter the room and take a seat next to Lou. Lisa stood stoically. "I know many of you know Ashley Stanton, now Ashley Stanton Burns. In a moment, her presence will be explained. Officer Stark the ball is yours." The stunned group focused onto the RCMP officer as he detailed the investigation process and the results. "So after the falsified data was taken by the hacker, the tracer program we installed took us right to the group that was attempting to hack your system. Once we located them we worked with local authorities in Florida and instigated a raid that brought several arrest and confessions. To say they caved is an understatement. They were hired by an employee of Briar Ridge Stables – Florida. The local Brair Ridge location has been struggling the last few years, mainly because of you all. So, the intent was to gain client information and attempt to purge some clients from you. It was a rather low-level hacking group so they were not at all skilled at being covert. Mrs. Burns, who represents Briar Ridge, is here to talk with you about a plea bargain deal. As of this moment her brother, Jesse Stanton is being charge as he is the CEO of the organization and offices in Florida. He mother, Val Stanton, is retired and is only a Board member as she turned everything over to her son. Ashley has silent ownership and is not involved in the day-to-day operation. We are still sorting things out as far as Mr. Stanton's knowledge of the attempt but until we do he will be held solely responsible but he is cooperating. So, this is where we are." Lisa stepped in. "Press releases will be sent out the minute we adjourn today and a mass email is ready to go out to the entire staff with details of what happened and direction to refer any questions from clients, media or suppliers to myself and Lou. Sometime in the near future, if requested, we will set up a news conference at the Equine Center that we will all need to attend but again only Max, Lou and I will field any questions at the session. Max will be flying in later this evening" The group sat stunned not only at what happened but by whom and why. After a silent moment, Lisa spoke up. "Ashley has asked to speak today and we decided to give her the chance. I would appreciate that you listen to her and save questions until she has finished. Ashley you have th floor." An extremely nervous Ashley approached the podium and began to speak.
