Chapter One Hundred Forty-Seven

The Final Straw

A/N – Two things to chat about so I will cover the latter first. I was having so much fun with the Chase thing that I ended up having to have it roll over into this chapter and trust me it will be worth it. I really despised his character and he will get what is coming to him in spades. Hold on to your hats. So number one – Our young couple have turned the corner in their relationship. I was very focused on how I was going to depict their relationship moving forward and I hope I handled it discreetly and with dignity. We have all been there and it can go many different directions so I hope my approach met your expectations. I purposely calmed the description of their love down realizing that it is more about the experience than the details. I can commit that this couple is in it for the long haul and are the future of this family. So let's get to it. Let's bury Chase Powers and if I don't get long winded on him, see a surprise ahead for Lyndy, which by the way was an idea from a devoted reader. I am excited about both parts of this next chapter and if my Chase storyline expands I will move Lyndy's to the next chapter. I also have a few more things left for the summer before school begins along with a lot of birthdays, oh and I guess a baby arriving. Keep me on top of my game by letting me know how I am doing. Thanks for everyone's commitment, support and influence to my story. Mature Content Enjoy!

Amy and Ty called Max and Lisa and set up a meeting at Heartland. Lou, Jack and Scott would be there to as they made sure the group was small. Amy also called Sarah and she said she had some things that she wanted to disclose as well about Chase's treatment of her and his son. So they decided to call her and include her on the call. Jack called Jim Parker, the Chief of the Hudson Police and found that they did book him for DWI when they pulled him over but he had paid the fine and had a court date set in a month or so. Jack also mentioned to him that he was meeting with Amy, Ty and some others about his posting of Amy's involvement in his two clinics coming up without her permission, his abrasive visit to the Miracle Ranch and the comments his ex-wife had about his treatment of them. Jack smiled as Jim spoke over the phone, "Jack I don't like this guy and I am confident, even before we get the information from his ex-wife that we can file more substantial charges and lock him away for a while. I have sent out some feelers and it seems he is on the radar of several other departments throughout Western Canada and the American Northwest US States that border Canada. Could I come as well, I think I could provide some guidance and opinions." Jack smiled and brought Lisa over putting him on speaker. "Jim I have the phone on speaker and Lisa is here with me. We would love to have you join us. We are getting together in a couple of hours at Heartland." Jim agreed and said he would be there. Lou called Amy and let her know what was up and that they would meet at 3pm. Ty downloaded the video and audio and put it on couple of thumb drives. They also sat with Lyndy, Wyatt, Caleb, Rusty and Haley and wrote down the details of what happened from the time he arrived until he left in a huff. Haley typed it all up on her computer and sent it to them. They printed off several copies, also saving it to the thumb drives. They wanted to make sure everything was documented and copies were available for Jim. Amy and Ty got everything together and headed over to Heartland. Before they left they thanked everyone and reminded Lyndy and Wyatt to make sure the kids were Ok. Amy promised to text her when they would be on the way home. Lyndy smiled and hugged her, "We got this mom, you go take care of that loser." Ty laughed, "Well I think Wyatt handled that already. How is the hand doing?" He smiled, "It's a little sore, but it was worth it. What he said made me really angry, I am sorry I lost it." Ty smiled and put his arm around the young man, "It's good, you just literally beat Caleb and I to the punch. Actually I am surprised my wife didn't pop him one. She has a heck of a right hook." Amy smiled assuredly and Lyndy laughed, "And actually it was kind of hot." Amy rolled her eyes, "Really Lyndy. But I agree, it was kind of hot when your dad hit my old boyfriend a couple of times and laid out Chase once." She snuggled into Ty, winking at her daughter. Lyndy motioned to her mom, "Before you go can we go for a walk?" Ty smiled and spoke up "Wyatt, let's go check on those other rascals and see if they are Ok. Amy we have to go in a half hour, Ok." She smiled and headed out with her daughter. "Lyndy are you Ok?" She smiled bashfully, "Yea, I just needed to talk to you about something." Amy smiled warmly as they went to sit on one of the benches set up in the back. Amy couldn't help but notice she sat down gingerly and without a word put her hand on her shoulder for support realizing that this would be a hard discussion for her.

Ty and Wyatt headed over to the barn without a word and were ambushed by JT. "Dad some of the guys are teaching me how to whistle, like mom does. Listen." He made an effort but just blew out some air. He tried again and a little chirp came out so Wyatt and Ty congratulated him. He smiled, looking over to Rusty, who was watching Haley and Ellory work with a horse together. Rusty gave him a high five and beamed brightly. They walked over to a very uncomfortable Katie who was sitting on a comfy chair watching Annie. Ty put his hand on her shoulder, "Hey Katie, how is she doing?" She smiled, "She is doing great but I am not. I feel like a beached whale and can't even see my feet." Wyatt made a mistake and laughed only to be looked at like the devil by her, "Do you thinks it's funny! One day, not too soon I hope you and Lyndy will be dealing with this. Word of advice, don't laugh." He blushed beet red and apologized as Ty shuffled him away looking really awkward. Maddie was sitting with Georgie as she watched one of the newer trainers with a horse. Ty smiled and looked over to her and she waved. Looking further she found Addie with Caleb and Annie with his kids, working on one of the ATV's. He laughed, "Addie, make sure you keep Caleb focused." The both laughed as Caleb waved him off. They walked on and headed toward Old Blue to wait for Amy. Ty smiled, "Wyatt is everything Ok. If you ever need to talk about anything don't be afraid to find me, really I mean it." He smiled weekly and simply thanked him. Lyndy took a deep breath and spoke to her mom looking into her eyes, "Mom, our date last night was unbelievable. I can't believe you stole my promise ring from me." She hesitated and Amy spoke up, "Lyndy when you are ready and want to talk about last night I am here." Lyndy smiled and blushed, "Well dinner was amazing and then we went to the café with the cabanas. Wyatt had a bouquet of my favorite flowers with some drinks and apps. It was perfect." Again she hesitated but took a deep breath, "Mom, when did you know it was time to move your relationship forward with dad." Amy smiled, "Well don't tell him this, to be honest when he built that jumping course for me my feeling for him were strong, but we were way to young. But when we came back from feeding the wild horses profession our love and he gave me my promise ring, I felt that we were both ready. So why do you ask?" Well with everything we went through lately, our date set us right and I realized that I was ready to move forward. Mom, he was so nice and respectful. We kind of were really making out and it just happened. Mom, it was amazing and we were safe and I love him so much. Please tell me you are not mad or disappointed." Amy smiled with a slight tear in her eye. Her baby girl had become a woman. She was quiet and Lyndy got concerned. Finally Amy talked, "Well, thanks for being honest with me and watching you sit down kind of gave it away. Trust me I needed a few days of not riding to recover as well. Honey, dad and I trust you both very much but like we have always said, be respectful and patient and let your love continue to develop. We have seen too many couples rush into things and are happy you took your time with this. Now, I don't need details because those are just for you and Wyatt." Lyndy smiled and sighed deeply holding on to her mother. "Mom, I love you and love the way we can talk. I am so lucky to be your daughter. We better head back and oh my god, you don't think dad and Wyatt are talking about this do you." Amy smiled, "No I don't expect they are, but I will tell your dad because had a notion and is Ok with it. But, let him come to you." They got up hugged and walked back arm in arm smiling. Lyndy was so relieved and Amy was so proud.

Wyatt was relieved when the ladies came around the corner. They assured them everything would be fine at home and after Amy hugged both of them tightly they headed over to Heartland. As they pulled away Wyatt kissed Lyndy's cheek sweetly, I love you baby." Ty and Amy took the quick drive to Heartland and Ty had to ask, "So, I know Wyatt is nervous as a mouse in a barn so how is Lyndy." She laughed, "Ok Grandpa Jack, she is fine. We can discuss it later but don't worry. They are Ok and really love each other Ty." Not needing to say more they drove quietly and pulled up. She jumped out his side of the truck like a teenager and giggled as they walked hand in hand to the ranch house. They noticed a Hudson Police and RMCP truck outside as well as they walked in as Jack met them at the door, "We invited a couple of others to our meeting. As they came in they recognized and greeted Chief Parker smiling and shaking his hand. Jim smiled, "Guys you may know this guy, this is Chief Inspector Rodriguez from the RCMP. Amy smiled and laughing greeted the constable they had helped so many years ago. "Well hello stranger, Chief Inspector, wow, it has been a long time." He smiled, Well I just took a transfer back here so I will be hanging around here for a bit. But I am here with Jim because he knew that we had been working on a case on Mr. Powers for a while now. Seems he has been causing havoc in the area over several years and people are starting to pop up that he has impacted pretty negatively. And, since we have started investigating more people are coming forward." Jim interrupted, "But Jack mentioned that his e-wife also has some information regarding her and their son. We feel that this may be enough to move forward, but we will need you guys to help." Ty smiled, "Well it seems you guys have already talked a bit so catch us up." They sat around the familiar dinner table at Heartland and after Lilly and Lisa got everyone coffee they began. Lisa and Jim caught them up on everything they had talked about and then Amy and Ty shared the video and notes from the folks who saw the incident earlier that morning. Amy also showed them the flyer that she confirmed was posted all around town. Jim smiled, "I already have some officers taking pictures of them for our case." The group video called Sara, who had Vince by her side. She spoke about the reason she divorced him and how abusive he was to her and their son. But she also revealed that the abuse and harassment continued on after she married Vince and they had children. She spoke softly, "The agreement of the divorce was that he could only see Chuck if he got permission from both of us. There have been approved meetings but Vince and I were always there. The problem is that he has made several unannounced visits and mostly when he had been drinking. We called the police a few times but mostly Vince would tell him to leave." The room was quiet when CS Rodriguez spoke up. "Well Mrs. Plummer, you have confirmed some of the information we have gathered as well. It seems your ex has fathered a few more children and those women have expressed the same concerns." Sarah smiled but also felt regret for them. Everyone sat sipping their coffee and Jim spoke up confidently, "We have a lot on this idiot and Amy and Ty, with your incident we are ready to move forward and arrest him. But we need one final favor from you Amy." CS Rodriguez and Captain Parker spent the next 30 minutes detailing their plan. Few questions were asked as everyone knew their role. After they left, the family discussed how they would pull this off and who they needed to include. Amy and Ty headed home to have dinner with the family where she would have some surprising news for the kids.

Lyndy noticed Old Blue heading down the road to the house. After she finished with her horse, she grabbed Wyatt and headed to the house. When they walked in they saw her mom and dad rustling around the kitchen getting dinner ready. When Amy saw her she went to give her daughter a hug, "Mom, you guys are back, how did everything go?" Ty smiled, "It went well, and we will fill everyone in at dinner. Can you guys get the others, take care of the horses for the night and back over for dinner." Lyndy smiled realizing that no more questions should be asked. Once the horses were tended to they all headed over still worried all about the visitor as Lyndy really didn't say anything even though they pestered her a lot. As they came into the kitchen the saw their parents happily making dinner and acting all lovey dovey. Addie announced, "Well guys, everything must be Ok, they are kissing and stuff." Amy shushed her smiling, "You guys go get cleaned up because you smell like a barn. And we will fill you in at dinner about what is happening so stop bothering Lyndy." They all huffed and headed to their rooms. Ty smiled, "Can I tell you how hot I am for you right now, first getting in Chase's face and now that whole mother thing." She smiled and went to tickle him, "Well I can say the same, you and Caleb were ready to take him out until Wyatt and JT stepped up." They broke apart as the kids started coming back down. During dinner, the kids listened to their mom and dad talk about what had happened and what was going to happen. They held out some of the details on purpose but told them just enough to satisfy their questions. Even Maddie seemed Ok, even though she struggled with the fact that her mom would actually be joining that jerk in the arena for the show. As Amy and Ty quickly made the rounds, they spent a few extra minutes with Lyndy and Wyatt giving them more detail as they would need them to help with some of it. Their passionate banter from earlier erupted once they entered their room. In a short period of time they found themselves entwined on their bed kissing and caressing each other with an intensity only meant for them. A mixture of relief and need drove them both as they satisfied each other over and over. Ty had Amy arching her back and moaning loudly as he focused on her most stimulating area and Ty almost passed out with the attention he gave him more than once. It was heated and seductive as the two lovers went on for a while in active and sensual foreplay. As one would take a moment to catch their breath the other would aggressively please them. They were breathing heavily, moaning and loving the other to the fullest. Both knew it was time to join together as Amy hovered over her love, lowering herself onto his hardness. She started to quietly scream out his name as she covered her mouth. He held onto her hips as she moved up and down on him meeting each thrust with his own. As their love climaxed they moaned and softly spoke each other's names in complete and utter ecstasy. As they calmed Ty noticed that Amy was quiet and seemed to be daydreaming. He leaned over, "Hey horsey girl, where are you." She smiled meekly, "Just thinking about the next few days. Ty, I am so sorry he is back. I know that just hearing his name grinds you up and I just hope everything goes as planned so we can be rid of him." Ty smiled and pulled her in for a tight hug, "Amy I am proud of you and what you are doing. Do I like Chase Powers, not one bit. But no matter what, we have so much to be happy about and getting him out of the picture will just be a bonus. I still remember when you popped him when he went to kiss you after he came back married. Caleb and I saw it and he couldn't believe I just stood there. But I saw something. I saw a woman that loved me completely and would fight for us no matter what or who was in the way. I love you so much." They held each other tight until a peaceful sleep came for both of them. The next few days would be difficult for them as a couple and their love would need to keep them strong, but the reward at the end would be worth it.

As expected when Ty and Amy met Chase at Maggie's to let him know she would participate in the clinic he was ecstatic. He smiled, "I knew you would give into my charm Miracle Girl. We are going to have so much fun, just like the old days." She smiled almost ready to throw up and Ty clenched her hand tightly. He tried to position himself to get closer to Amy but Ty strategically kept between them. Chase bickered, "Come on stable hand I should get to hug my partner." Again Amy smiled as the said their goodbyes and headed to the truck. Little did Chase know that two sets of eyes were on him both outside and inside the diner taking mental notes of the meeting. At first he pondered following them out to get his hug but his attention was drawn to an attractive women sitting at the counter, so he went to put on his Chase Power's charm to lure her in. The undercover officer sat quietly in the corner keeping an eye on him. He was assigned to be his shadow and even though he didn't know him, he despised him as he swooned the unsuspecting young lady. As an uncomfortable Amy, being held by her husband walked to the truck, she smiled and looked over to the other officer, who was assigned to stay with them when they were off the ranch. It was a necessary precaution and also gave the authorities more opportunities to build their case against Chase Powers. It wasn't until they came down the drive to their home that Amy finally settled. She smiled when she saw the kids, Jack, Lisa and Lou waiting for them. As they got out Caleb, Cass, Clay, Katie, Georgie and Steven joined the group. Caleb spoke up, "So, how did it go?" Amy was still overwhelmed as Ty answered, "As good as you can expect, he is such an ass, he actually asked Amy for a hug." Everyone was not surprised but still startled as JT spoke up, "Daddy you said ass." The group laughed and most of them went back to what they were doing. Lisa headed out to update Max, Jack, Lou, Georgie, Katie and the kids went inside with the couple. They were not there to ask questions just to support Amy and Ty. Ty's phone rang and it was Jim Parker so he put it on speaker. "My guys said thinks went as expected. Amy, stay low and answer his calls, just don't go meet him until the clinic. The officer following him said he is at the bar with a couple of very young buckle bunnies hanging all over him. It's sickening. Also the women he approached as Maggie's slapped him really hard as he made his move. Seems any girl over 21 has nothing to do with him. I will be out tomorrow before you guys leave to go over the details one more time. Amy, you are safe now." She smiled and weekly said thanks. As he hung up again Addie spoke up, "Mom, dad what does he mean?" Jack took over, "Kids we need to keep this quiet and the details are just for the adults. Tomorrow during the clinic I want you guys to stay close to Lou, Scott, Lisa and GG." Maddie went to speak and he held his hand up, "No questions, everything will be fine but you just need to do that." The four younger Bordens understood and went out to the barn

After a quiet dinner, the family went to bed. Lyndy couldn't help but notice her mother's demeanor and leaned over to whisper to her. "Mom, everything will be Ok and if he gets too aggressive, Wyatt will deck him again." Amy smiled and hugged her oldest tightly, "Thank you honey, I really love you." After a restless night, the family was getting ready to leave the next morning. Ty and Amy had to leave a little early and Georgie, Katie, Clay and Caleb went with them to help with Blaze and to be there as added support. Amy scoffed at Katie for coming but she was insistent. "Amy I don't care if I go into labor, I want to see this freakin' loser go down." They all chuckled as the loaded up and headed to the arena. Wyatt and Lyndy were bringing their siblings, but everyone met at The Miracle Ranch to arrive together. The call with Jim went well and they felt ready, but still a little nervous. As they pulled up Chase went to meet them just expecting Amy and Ty. As he approached he had two scantily dressed young girls by his side and he shooshed them away. "Sorry Miracle Girl, just some fans wishing me luck. They still don't hold a candle to you." Again he made an approach to her and a very stern and pregnant Katie stepped in. "Mr. Powers, Amy has to get ready, she will see you in the arena." Surveying the situation he stepped back and laughed, "Well I guess that's the way it is Miracle Girl." All through this he only spoke to Amy as if no one else was there. As he walked away, Amy sighed, "Ty I don't know if I can do this, he is just a creepy." Georgie laughed, "Amy, if your two pregnant nieces can do this, you can do it to." Intimidated Caleb laughed, "Yea what she said." Amy got ready as the clinic was about to begin. Blaze looked magnificent and knew something was up. Amy was in her full clinic attire with two braded ponytails underneath her favorite cowboy hat. Caleb ponied the horse as Amy and Ty walked behind him and her nieces. Ty grabbed chairs for the two mothers to be as they all would be positioned along the rail to watch over the clinic. As Amy walked out she saw her family and especially her kids all seated together. She smiled up at them focusing on Lyndy, Lou and Jack. Their smiles gave her strength to do what she needed to do. The packed arena lights flashed letting everyone know the clinic would start very soon. As she walked into the arena she saw the usual Chase Powers tools to tame a horse. She shook her head in disbelief seeing chainsaw, fire crackers, whips and other items that she would never use. The plan was to have each of them gentle a horse and see who did it faster and better. Amy was also going to do some reigning with Blaze and Chase some roping as a bonus for the packed house. Ty leaned over to Caleb, "Can you believe how many people are here to see this idiot." Caleb laughed, "My friend, they are her to see Amy." Ty kissed her as she walked out to a resounding applause from the crowd. He was always amazed at how she was greeted every time she did one of these. Amy looked back and smiled but then something caught her eye. In the upper corner of the stands she saw, Sarah, Chuck and Vince sitting in front of two very large men she assumed were with RCMP or Police. Sarah caught her eye and smiled quietly withing her luck. She also say Jim and Constable Rodriguez, off in the background ready to move if needed. The lights went off and two spotlights shown on her and Chase sitting on their horses. The show was about to begin.

The lights came up and Chase booming voice welcomed everyone to this very special show. Amy always marveled at how for him this was no more than a show to let everyone know that they were watching Chase Powers and the Power Tour. The two of them began to cantor around as Chase talked about what they would be doing today and Amy smiled but kept quiet. They pulled up to the middle of the ring and stopped. The music died and he spoke, "Ladies and gentleman, as you can see I have a very special guest and dear friend with me today, Hudson's own Amy Fleming." The crowd hesitated at the name but still broke out into a welcoming applause. Amy made her first move, "Good morning everyone but I need to correct you Chase. My name is Amy Borden and I have been married for over 15 years to my husband, Dr. Ty Borden. We have six children, an amazing family and a successful business, The Heartland Equestrian Experience. I am really excited to be here for you, the audience, today." She never glanced at Chase as his anger was evident. He jumped in, "Well sorry about that Miracle Girl, I guess I was thinking of the amazing past you and I have had on the Ring of Fire Tour and all the clinics we did together. We were quite a team for sure." He scooted over close and put his hand on her upper thigh. She pulled away, "Well Chase that was a long time ago and as I recall, I won the Ring of Fire and you came in second. And clinics, I believe we just did a few." The crowd laughed and applauded and now he was getting angrier but decided to move on. "Well let's get this show started." Amy and Chase jumped off their horses as Ty ponied Blaze away after a quick kiss that they made sure Chase saw. Jim smiled as they were doing exactly what they needed to do. Amy and Chase got their horses and the clock started. The arena was divided so the audience could watch both of them work individually with their horse. It was obvious that their approaches were different and as the crowd was awestruck at Amy's grace and determination they were taken aback by Chase's approach which was close to abuse. Several times the crowd erupted in boos as he terrorized the poor animal every time he did not follow his direction. Even Amy noticed that he was much more aggressive than in the past and figured it was because he was trying to outdo her. After about an hour of back and forth, Amy's horse began to settle as she circled the large horse around her. Georgie, Katie and Lyndy all saw that she was getting close but the problem was Chase saw it too. As she got the horse to come to her, Chase decided to step things up. As her horse nuzzled Amy's shoulder and the crowd erupted in applause, she heard the familiar sound of a chainsaw fire up. She dreaded to even look but Chase began chasing the horse with it to get it to obey his commands. His microphone was live and he was screaming obscenities at him trying to get him to settle. In his anger he swiped and caught the back end of the scared horse causing a gash deep enough to start bleeding. The horse gave out a gut wrenching shrill of pain had the audience was too shocked to even look. In an instant all hell broke loose.

Out of instinct Amy headed toward the injured horse along with Ty and Scott. Several of the wranglers, two of whom were undercover policeman went to Chase, who had been knocked down but had popped up wanting to get back to the horse. He was enraged, yelling and screaming at the horse and Amy. He lunged toward Amy, "This is your fault Miracle Girl, you made me do this!" His attempt was thwarted by the two undercover law enforcement officers, securing him and throwing him to the ground, placing him in cuffs. In a blur, Parker and Rodriquez along with a half dozen others came out onto the arena floor. The family watched mainly worried about Amy. Katie and Georgie headed up to the grandstand as Cass and Steven went to help the others with the injured horse. Steven had his vet bac in his truck and picked it up before he came down. Lyndy joined her mom along with Wyatt and Caleb. The horse had collapsed and was writhing in pain. Scott and Ty looked over the wound with the others as Amy and Lyndy calmed him. The injury was deeper than they originally thought so they decided to clean it, stuff it with antiseptic gauze and get him to the Equine Center. All the while the crowd sat in stunned silence and a news crew who was covering the event was rolling tape of the entire thing. Amy spoke up, "I think he is ready to get up, so let's get him in the trailer. Lyndy and I will ride with him to keep him calm." Ty looked at her with concern, "Amy he could buck and hurt you guys in close quarters." Lyndy smiled, "Dad, we got it and will be fine, trust us." He smiled realizing he was not going to win the battle as they loaded the sedated, much calmer horse in the trailer. As they pulled away, Scott, Ty and Steven went with Wyatt in his truck. The rest of the family and audience milled around still in shock about what they saw. Parents held onto kids as they had witnessed a horrific incident. JT held onto Jack tightly as he comforted him. He was very upset so his three sisters also came to comfort him. As they started to leave they hear a commotion behind the stands. Jim and Constable Rodriquez were talking to a handcuffed and agitated Chase Powers. The family stopped and listened to the altercation along with many others including a news crew running film. Jim spoke confidentially, Mr. Powers, you're under arrest for so many items that we will provide you and your attorney a complete list when you are booked. Before I list the major items keep in mind that you have the right to remain silent and a right to an attorney but if you decide to speak those comments will be used in your prosecution." Chase was dumbfounded, "Are you kidding me, I have done nothing wrong, I am Chase Powers and you can't do this to me. Suddenly Sarah, with Vince and Chuck by her side yelled at him. "Are you serious, Chase I told them about all of the abuse and harassment you put on your son and I, and for that matter Vince and our kids. Even after I got a restraining order you still showed up to badger and belittle us." There was silence as Chase's face got more and more contorted. Chuck moved over to him, "You are my biological dad but what you did to us is not right and as far as I am concerned, you are not my father, Vince Plummer is. In fact I am going to change my name to be a real son to him." At this point those listening were overwhelmed with emotion. JT clutched tightly in Jacks arms as Maddie, Annie and Addie clung to Lisa. Chase's face contorted even more as he listened to his son. Chief Parker got his attention, Mr. Powers, some of the many charges coming your way are spousal and child abuse and harassment of your ex-wife and son, misrepresentation of Amy Borden, without her permission as a part of this clinic along with unlawful trespassing and harassment of her and her family, multiple counts of deviant sexual behavior with over a dozen women, several of which are under the age if eighteen and finally tax fraud with regards to your company, Chase Power's Power Tour. There are more but those alone will get you plenty of time in jail and all of your assets will be frozen and sold off to pay the fines and damages that will be assessed to you in addition to the jail time. Jim looked at the two undercover officers who were acting as wranglers and spoke sternly, "Officers, take him to the station, book him and lock him up."

Those looking on watched as a belligerent and screaming horse trainer was harshly placed in the police car and carted off. Chief Palmer came over to the family group along with the Plummers. "We will be in touch in a few days as many of you will be needed for the trial. The RCMP will act in an advisory level as we will lead the prosecution. Lisa, please give my number to your company lawyer and have him give me a call and I will give him the details. Mrs. Plummer will you have counsel?" Lisa spoke up, "Sarah if you are Ok with it, our lawyer will represent you as well, pro bono. It's the least we can do for your help and what you have gone through." She smiled in appreciation. Back at the clinic, Ty, Scott and Steven were working together on the horse that Chase had brutally injured. The family arrived home and the kids immediately went to the clinic. Amy, Lyndy and Wyatt were watching the procedure as the other kids approached. Maddie asked, "Mom, how is he doing?" Amy put her finger to her lips and whispered, "The wound is much worse than they thought. It is really deep and did some internal damage as well. They have him sedated and in surgical harness so it is kind of scary looking. JT sat with his eyes wide open and Wyatt immediately picked him up so he could bury his head in his shoulder. He smiled at Amy and quietly took him away to distract him as today was filled with things a young boy shouldn't have to see. As the rest watched, in a blur the three vets and a vet tech went into alarm mode. Lyndy could tell something was wrong noticing her dad and Steven's body language. Ty walked over and whispered something to Amy. She shook her head in agreement and Ty smiled at the kids pulling the curtain closed. Amy grabbed her daughters, "Girls we need to leave them be for a while. Let's get back to the house and get dinner started. I think GG, Lisa, Lou, Katie, Georgie and the others will be here, so we have a lot to get ready. Something was wrong and they all knew it. The family focused on getting dinner ready. Amy had enough burgers, hot dogs and chicken so Jack and Max lit up the grill. Lou and Lisa brought some sides and Wyatt and Lyndy took JT to Maggie's to get some pies. Georgie and Katie snuck out to the barn as the Borden girls played with the Weber kids. Keeping busy was important now. Georgie and Katie came back and their look told Amy, Jack, Lisa and Lou that the news was not good. A half hour later, three very tired vets cam over still in their scrubs but had cleaned up. They each when to their wives for hugs as some of the others hugged them as well. Ty asked if everyone could come out to the porch. Everyone sat quietly, even little Nate knew he needed to listen to his great uncle. He spoke softly, "I just wanted to tell you guys that we had to put the horse down, his wounds were too severe and he was in a great amount of pain. He looked at Soctt and Steven, "We are sorry but we did all we could for him, but now his pain is gone." Even though they all expected it they still sat sadly holding on to each other. Finally JT spoke up, "Daddy what was his name?" Ty was a little nervous because he didn't even know. Amy spoke up, "Honey his name was Jericho." He smiled, "Can we bury him by Spartan, I know he will take care of him." They marveled at the depth of understanding and caring from the young boy. After some more hugs they went and enjoyed a great family dinner after a very difficult day. Jack leaned over to Amy and Lou and whispered, "Family cures all the bad things in the world."
